it's rant time babe !!

so– i was just reading the Tsukushi Joint Operation (which was just posted, by the way), when this part caught my attention because i was thinking something a little along this line...

for a brief context: yuyu is trying to train riri to be a good lily. but the thing is: yuyu was never in the position to care for others in this kind of way. she is the little sister in her family. she was the schild to kawazoe misuzu. she always struggled to show how much she cared about others and she didn't got to the stage where she was prepared to think for others in the way she was cared for. even if the memoir with misuzu, where both are in the beach, did mention that misuzu was thinking about the time where yuyu would have her own schild — which i do have my problems with, because anime misuzu, in the few scenes she was shown, didn't seem to be the type that would be okay sharing/like she was okay mentally for it yet —, it never seemed to be an idea these two were ready to put into action. or to even talk or plan about seriously.

so i do enjoy these moments where it's clear that yuyu struggles to take care of riri besides the few things yuyu remember that were done to her. like making sure riri is well dressed, that she has manners and to return all the support and love she receives. the training part is pretty interesting, especially because yuyu (at this point) still wasn't very clear on what exactly riri would excell in, it seems her position wasn't settled yet. [where in the matsuri's event, riri is already someone that already has a position on rearguard, the reason as to why matsuri even trained her in first place, since yuyu is a vanguard.]

and it does make me think about their relationship, because i really dislike it. while i don't see them romantically involved like canon wants me to, i do understand why they're together in the first place. riri, in my opinion, isn't a good match for yuyu in terms of knowing the best way to help her resolve her trauma and problems. she simply brute forces her way into yuyu's life until yuyu can't stop her, and that's it — i do admit i am saying this thinking more of the anime and the manga. i don't think i saw enough of the game to say if this is an aspect that is changed. but, if there is something that riri is good, is of taking care of others. well, more or less. she knows who needs care and when these people need to be looked at. she can hit or miss in helping, but she is observant enough to know that someone needs others close and stubborn enough to ignore when these people push her away; that's exactly why she was the perfect girl to force yuyu to start healing in the first place.

riri knew yuyu needed someone close. she knew she needed to be there, regardless of what yuyu did or said. and she stayed. she talked. she probed. she did everything the others weren't brave or stupid enough to do. she pushed so hard that yuyu couldn't ignore her or leave her behind. so yeah, i get why they're together. because she was exactly the type of person yuyu needed to take the first step.

i still think the execution was terrible (in the anime). so i can't see the romance — which sucks for me, the the main couple and the advertisement of the game hehehehe —, but i do like to headcannon them as family. somehow i think it's cute that way and it seems more comprehensive for me. so i guess i can appreciate their relationship, especially when the game makes a point to show the struggles that it has, since both are learning how to be together.
