HYUNJIN MOVES (47-51/∞)

my absolute favorite parts of jinnie’s aotm that i can’t stop screaming about

first of all i just wanna say im so fucking proud of hwang hyunjin

like...when it took him a few tries to get that 4th move down on set and then when he finally did all the staff were cheering for him i got so fucking emotional cause um ME TOO I AM ALSO CHEERING FOR YOU HWANG HYUNJIN

top left he is so in control of his limbs my fucking god

he’s creating such perfect lines and angles for both his arms and legs and this is his first practice session too like damn bitch why and how do you learn so fast and perfect it so fast

top right is what he calls the highlight of the whole piece and boy is it cause when i saw it i was blown away

it’s such a simple move but idk man jinnie just adds so much power and flare to it that it seems like no one else could do it justice 

i love how he kept emphasizing that this was the highlight and he kept working on this part to make it feel and look right THE DEDICATION UGH MY HEART

middle left is my highlight of the piece i fucking love this part so much

because no one can do it like jinnie like literally all his dancer hyungs don’t do it like him

just LOOK at the way he isolates the tension all in his shoulders

and then he pulls out the movement until he absolutely has to switch to the next move and the timing is just so beautiful

and then the way he moves his head opposite to the direction his body is moving to really emphasize that push and pull is absolutely beautiful

and then the way he keeps the pull going on the last move UGH it’s details like this that make me go crazy y’all

middle right GOD the WAY he does this so effortlessly even though this is like his 3rd or 4th take HE’S SO POWERFUL

that huge sweep of the first swing is so beautiful and then the way he uses that momentum to ball up and stick the landing BREATHTAKING

thank you to the choreographer for putting this in i hope you get a raise

ok ok lastly bottom row GOD

the spin to the floor has so much power and emotion

usually jinnie would do this move really slick and graceful but no no in motley crew you can’t be that 

he said he wanted to channel crazy and boy did he

and then just the precision in the floorwork and foot work into the crisp and clean stop

like the power and control you have to put into stopping all that momentum you just built up for a picture perfect moment is crazy

AND THE BOTTOM LEFT IS WHEN HE JUST LEARNED IT TOO SO I’M JUST LIKE HOW DID YOU PERFECT THAT SO FAST

even his choreographer was like wtf how are you so good so fast???

in conclusion hwang hyunjin is a god and i love him

HYUNJIN VS FELIX

yes yes YES lix just has such an incredibly powerful gaze

like literally everyone points that out cause it’s such an iconic lix thing

resting bitch face where lix only has cute or charismatic hehehe

some people have to practice their facial expressions (and maybe lix did idk) and some people end up just look p bored

but lix idk he’s always on it always immersed into the performance and the atmosphere it’s incredible and as someone with rbf i am JEALOUS

i didn’t know that was why jinnie always played with facial expressions i just thought that was his natural style?

but looking back at fancams from d9 i understand why he thinks that

back in d9 era he just...did the dance? like you didn’t see his iconic style that he has now

his face was pretty neutral the whole time and he didn’t play with the beats and different movement textures like he does now

i just really appreciate how much jinnie has grown as a dancer?? and that felix acknowledges it?? and fucking lives for it like we do??

being known as a good dancer is one thing but being known as a good dancer with their own unique style is like the ultimate achievement lol

i like what i see i like it a lot this is absolutely fabulous

top left the way he pulls back and then opens up his chest with the pull of his arm and the sweep of his leg IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL

like his body line is so beautiful even to the way he angles his head ahhhhh

top right OH MY FUCKING GOD look how delicate his movements are !!!

and this is just a rehearsal vid too who looks this beautiful during rehearsal???

i just love how his body is so subtle with the wave !! like his chest opens up with the arm and each body part just knows how to move along with his hand i can’t stand this kid

bottom left again the way he uses his body is so amazing

like look how grand his movements are they’re just so open !! and he’s so graceful !!

like god that waving move after the circle arm pose thing my lord it’s so pretty

bottom right look at the lil pirouette AAAHHHHHHHH 

such a tight clean turn I CAN’T

like his foot is positioned in a perfect coupe too how much more technically perfect can this kid get?????

MINHO VS HYUNJIN

it’s the height and flexibility for me bitches !!

my god he fucking kicks his right foot up AND FLOATS FOR A SECOND before WHABAM that left foot comes up so high in the air LIKE HOOOWWW

and then the snap as he finishes the kick !!

and the kick has such a nice shape too like it’s so round and pretty such a nice fanning motion

god how tf did he get so much height in that kick he’s really putting his long legs to use

minho:

it’s the twist and snap for me aahhhhh!!!!!

like he’s so good at using his hips to really get his kick to make a sharp snap i’m so- hhnnggghhh it’s so cool

it’s interesting how minho gets momentum for his kick by lifting a straight leg whereas jinnie bends the knee

also OMFG do you see how minho twists into position FUCKING PAUSES AND FLOATS IN THE AIR FOR A HOT SECOND and then delivers the final blow???

and the final blow my god if seungmin had been any closer that would’ve hurt lol

i love how minho and hyunjin create different images with their kicks like jin’s a fan and minho’s a spiral it’s so SICK

HYUNJIN MOVES (12-13/∞)

practice makes perfect (maybe a lil too perfect lol)

i’m so glad we have footage of hyunjin’s progression with this move

it’s really satisfying to see how he pretty much mastered this move in a year

and how he got good enough to do it at a faster speed too

i’m so soft cause you can see how he’s learning about how his body moves and how to control it to do more spectacular things 🥺

he’s so slick wth

just...look at how he uses his whole body in these moves my GOD

he extends his limbs so well 🥺

and the fucking top right and bottom left moves MY LORD LOOK HOW DEEP HE SINKS INTO THE LUNGE

AND HOW HE EFFORTLESSLY FALLS TO THE FLOOR i can’t with him

AND THEN THE WAY HE STABS THE KNIFE OH MY GOD how does one snap their arm like that

and then the bottom right the way he waves up to a stand and then snaps the arms i’m in love

technical king!!!

when i first saw this move i screamed and like replayed it 20 times

the fucking jump and then midair he starts the wave and like his legs wave along with his arms?????

and finishes the wave when he lands??? what???

and the wave starts with a sharp hit too like bro how are you so good at multitasking lol

and then the fucking sharp pull into the spin he’s just so cool

i love the way he can switch textures in his movements in the blink of an eye

my guy said gravity doesn’t control me i control gravity

do you see him??? do you see my guy???

he said no hands bitches we’re going all in pun intended

i’m also cackling at the middle gif cause he just disappears

but yeah that’s one intense wave man

i love how he commits to it and doesn’t chicken out

cause a lot of people would get scared midway and stick their butt out to soften the landing

but this move actually hurts less when you commit cause by keeping your hips out you kind of counterbalance your upper body and from there you can control the landing better

so great job my guy as always hehe

HYUNJIN MOVES (25/∞)

he made me say wow

i love love love the way he’s doing isolations but he hits it with a bounce and a groove

like the combination of the two textures is so satisfying

and definitely different from the way he usually does isolations which is hella hella sharp

i also like the flow and order of what he’s isolating and the angles he’s isolating at

he’s going from head to shoulder to chest but the way he’s angling his body makes it look very random

so avant garde lol

top left i love that sharp head flick it really contrasts with the small hand gun movements and throws you off for a bit

i also love the way he takes his time and grooves after the head snap to help you take everything in

top right look at how deep his stance in the pure joy on his face the whip of his arms i dont think hyunjin knows what whiplash is lol

bottom left i love how he changes things up by angling the neck i also love those abstract lines he’s creating with his arms it’s very avant garde very modern dance

bottom right he really turns things up by involving the head with the arms and damn that head whip he takes it all the way around town man and the passion in this one move wow no one could ever

MINHO VS HYUNJIN

bang bang bang dance practice

row 1:

once again minho hits the beat with a grooviness while jinnie hits the beat very sharply

minho hits his shoulder with a subtle bounce

and then jinnie hits with the shoulder and keep it there until the next shoulder has to come up

it’s also interesting how jinnie switches the weight between each foot as he hits the beat

while minho just bounces his right foot

also it looks like minho’s circling with his shoulders compared to jinnie who’s going straight up and down

row 2:

with their arms minho hits down with big scoops

whereas jinnie scoops out and gathers in 

also jinnie plays with textures and dynamics with his arms because the first scoop is on beat 

but then he slows down the second scoop and kind of blends it into the next circling movement

also after circling their arms and doing the footwork minho pops his chest like  period to end the move

and jinnie just brings him arms back to center

it’s really interesting to see where they add their little points of emphasis

row 3:

minho slowly waves through his body during much

compared to jinnie who mostly focuses on sticking out his chest and concaving when his arm whips

also minho concaves his chest more and slightly slouches his shoulders to really sell the wave and whipping motion

he also really sinks into his back leg in this move which is really interesting

in terms of how their whole body moves minho is more focused on waving his whole body

and jinnie is really focusing on a back and forth motion which is why i think he raises his legs more

with the arms minho looks like he’s actually using a whip (chan too lol)

like you can see his wrist flick separately from the rest of his arm

and jinnie uses his forearm and wrist together to create the whipping motion

minho is also groovy here and jinnie is very sharp again

like he holds his arm a little bit longer in position than minho before pulling back

HYUNJIN MOVES (6-9/∞)

ya like jazz?

first of all wow jinnie flexibility king lol

i just really appreciate the angles of his lunges it’s so jazzy

also wow i love a man who can almost do a double pirouette

just a little nitpicky thing though he whips his second arm too much to get around when the majority of the momentum of a turn comes from the first arm aka opening arm

the opening arm does most of the work to start the pirouette and the second arm comes around to bring the body full circle (lol)

and its a lil risky to try to squeeze a turn in by whipping the second arm because you’ve lost the momentum given by the first arm which means you really have to squeeze your core and really keep your balance in hopes of getting that second spin in

it might be a stylized thing for him to whip the second arm and be dramatic tho so if so that’s ok

also i think he turn could’ve been executed cleaner if his turning leg was straight as it helps with balance

if he shot up from the ground and straightened his turning leg it would’ve tightened up his turns and helped him get around better

but damn his spotting is so good esp on the first pirouette

and then way he comes out of the pirouettes goddamn how can someone look so cool putting on a hat

HYUNJIN MOVES (26/∞)

my guys said gotta shake out the voices in my head

bonus:

i love the desperation and frustration he puts in this move

i think jinnie embodies the emotions of this song the best man

like he just lets go of all control and just goes for it

this flurry of movement is beautiful to watch

but if you’re learning the dance don’t watch jinnie to learn lol

it took me forever to even see what this move was and i ended up having to watch the other guys cause they do this move in a cleaner way lol
