I do my best to read at least a little bit of the Bible everyday, and it's usually a chapter in Proverbs. The opening verses for yesterday's (the 23rd) were

And only yesterday did it hit me that those verses were to apply to everything; it's a reminder to exercise moderation from day to day. My specific thing is media consumption, apparently, bc that's the example that hit me.

It also hit me that this can also be read as the ruler in the verse being Satan. Satan is always trying to trick us, to get us to consume whatever looks good without question, when what is offered by him will cause us to rot. And the more we eat that he feeds us, the less likely we are to ask questions about what we're taking in, and the more dead in spirit we become. And because we think that what Satan has laid out on the table is "good," it is also what we will go after without fail... unless God steps in.

So. Take a moment to ask yourself, my brothers and sisters: what is the father of lies trying to serve you today... and have you asked God for his help on the matter

which. the first set of data is interesting to me as having access to tutors, counselors, a parent always home, paying for an online curriculum, those are all class barrier things. like. i dont know a single person rn in my life who could afford literally any of those options. makes me wonder about the necessity in this dialogue of a differentiation between homeschooling with access to costly resources vs homeschooling for the average family who cant afford such resources. but at that point i wonder if its eventhe same conversation, or maybe even its some kind of branch off of the conversation comparing public schools to private schools
