Getting into Wings of Fire gave me so many like ‘non-problematic’ ships to like. Moonjou, Qinter, Lynxfall, Sunlow, honestly the whole plethora of combos that the Jade Winglet can go through including them all just dating one another. I read them in a weird way too (skipped the first arc) so for a while I was like Yes! Yes! I can talk about all these openly.

And then I went back to the first arc and of course I have somehow stumbled into another amazing ship that unfortunately falls under the ‘siblings but not exactly’ umbrella that like ApplePie and SonTails do.

SunnyNami as a ship and dynamic is so top tier and yet. I keep expecting to get rocks thrown at me for my opinions on it lmao. They have so many frantic conversations together in the JMA arc and are clearly relying on the other to keep the school afloat. Tsunami spends her whole book torn up about the idea that Sunny is upset with her just augh. There’s no way they can be related because separate tribes and YET

And it’s not like I even care about any of the incest dynamics here either. There is literally no reason they wouldn’t be able to date one another and wouldn’t have to torture themselves about it. It’s right there and yet.

People ship GloryNami and SunnyFlight too! Like they get their haters ofc but it’s not so taboo that it’s a completely underground, forever untouchable thing. It barely feels “”problematic”” but I’ve seen the vitriolic bs slung at sunnyflight shippers and I know the possible horrors
