The Gift of Rest

READ PSALM 4:1-8

"I will lie down and fall asleep in peace because you alone, Lord, let me live in safety."

PSALM 4:8 (CEB)

"'I frequently fall asleep while praying. I used to feel guilty, but I’ve decided to look at it a different way.

My job demands that I be on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year. I could be at home making dinner or on vacation when I receive a work-related call, text, or email. This constant connection to the workplace can have long-term effects and often leads to exhaustion. At the end of a hectic day, bedtime prayer can be a way to decompress, discuss the day’s challenges with God, and enter into a time of rest and reflection.

So instead of feeling guilty, I’ve decided to embrace the blessing that rest can be. Rest has many benefits for physical, mental, and spiritual health. Jesus took time away from the crowds and his followers to find needed rest.

Just as hard work honors God, so do our times of rest. Words from Psalm 23 tell us that God wants us to enjoy quiet moments: “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters, he restores my soul” (vv. 2-3). Let’s not feel guilty when rest presents itself but recognize it for the spiritual gift that it is."'

TODAY'S PRAYER

"Dear God, lead us to adopt the model that Jesus set for us. Help us to seek physical, mental, and spiritual rest and to welcome your restoration of our souls." Amen.

"'1 Answer me when I cry out, my righteous God! Set me free from my troubles! Have mercy on me! Listen to my prayer! 2 How long, you people, will my reputation be insulted? How long will you continue to love what is worthless and go after lies? Selah 3 Know this: the LORD takes personal care of the faithful. The LORD will hear me when I cry out to him. 4 So be afraid, and don’t sin! Think hard about it in your bed and weep over it! Selah 5 Bring righteous offerings, and trust the LORD! 6 Many people say, “We can’t find goodness anywhere. Rhodochrosite

Uses: Rhodochrosite represents selfless love and compassion. It's a stone that imparts a dynamic and positive attitude, it is excellent for the heart, teaching it to assimilate painful feelings and cope with trauma. It cleans the chakras of the solar plexus and heart. On a psychological level, gives vitality to the mind by encouraging a positive attitude and enhancing creativity. Rhodochrosite is a variety of calcite, which shares its properties.

Appearance: Vitreous or pearly

Cavansite 

Uses: Cavansite stimulates channeling and intuitive abilities. Cavansite has been used for psychic healing and protection, is useful for meditation, prompting reflection and assimilation of new ideas. It has been used to assist in the release of endorphins and stabilize the pulse rate, is also helpful in the treatment of eye disorders.

Color: greyish blue to blue

Sugilite

Uses: Sugilite stimulates the third eye, crown, and transpersonal chakras. Iy helps open the crown chakra, drawing in spiritual energy and integrating one’s higher spiritual purpose with our life purpose. The energy of Sugilite is protecting, cleansing and purifying. Sugilite can transmute all negativity and the experience of the spiritual void. In meditation, Sugilite calms the hyperactive mind and brings deep inner peace. Seraphinite

Uses:  The romantic name and its association with the angels have earned Seraphinite a reputation as a healing gem, good for the nerves and for brain cells. Seraphinite stimulates all chakra, has gentle “feminine” energy which purifies, cleanses and soothes an angry heart. Seraphinite acts to harmonizes and aligns the energy of the aura with the physical body allowing to feel centered. Seraphinite raises consciousness to the higher realms, facilitating communion whilst drawing in the healings energies that those have to offer. Seraphinite is an excellent crystal for identifying and releasing patterns which no longer serve for the highest good or true path. Seraphinite helps balance cellular function and structure. Ulexite

Uses: Ulexite is known as the television stone since it expands on its surface everything that is put under it. It's excellent for understanding the meaning of dreams and visions, it shows the path one should undertake on a spiritual level and would introduce you deeply into the self. A more pragmatic level is a stone that takes you to the heart of the problem, pointing to its resolution and activating the solutions. It gives the ability to see in the hearts of others and, thanks to its soft energy, it is beneficial for meditation and relaxation. Putting on the third eye enhances visualization and dissipates mental and negative mental energy, the ulexite enhances the imagination and stimulates creativity. The best position is on the third eye.

Color: Colorless, white, grey

Appearance: Silky, vitreous

Safe for elixir: Contains toxic boron and asbestos. Also, the rock will lose its luster when in contact with water, soluble in warm water This mineral should only be used in an elixir prepared via the alternative method of preparation.

Opal

Uses:  Opal enhances the cosmic consciousness and induces psychic and mystical visions, stimulates originality and creativity, helping to reveal the true self besides teaching you that what you give always comes back. Psychologically, boost self-esteem and helps you understand your own potential. It also gives you spontaneity at the mental level. Emotionally, it's associated with love and passion, while intensifying emotional states. Place it where it's most suitable, especially the solar plexus and heart. The opal can have different colors, each of them specific an additional property:

Black /brown/gray: It's associated with the sacral and useful chakra to process and integrate newly released emotions.

Uses:  Apophyllite is an effective energy conductor and carrier of the akashic record. Its presence in a room boosts the energies due to its great transmission power. Creates conscious connections between the physical and spiritual realms. During extra-body trips, maintains an intense connection with it, allowing a transfer of information between the two kingdoms. It's a stone that enhances clairvoyance, stimulating intuition and allowing access to the future. Mentally it has a calming effect and, at the spiritual level, it imbues analysis and the decision-making process. Emotionally, releases repressed emotions and calms apprehension, allowing tolerance to uncertainty. Atacamite

Uses: Atacamite can stimulate the immune system and thymus gland, it’s useful for reducing fear and stress and is helpful in treating nervous system disorders. It can also clear the throat chakra, assisting self-expression. Atacamite activates and stimulates spiritual connection and visualization. Raises consciousness to higher levels of vibration when used in meditation or held over the third eye. It can be used for astral travel and journeying and opens a channel for guidance and spiritual truths.

Color: Dark green

Appearance:  Vitreous, translucent to transparent
