Day 5: E - Energy!- Shawn and Juliet
[Link to challenge here.]
[A member of the otp+ is hyper or more hyper than usual.]
“Jules!” Shawn yells, his voice louder than normal.
Juliet sighs at her husband’s voice as she walks out of Chief Vick’s office. He’s sitting at her desk and has covered it in empty candy wrappers and an empty bag of Halloween candy that she knows didn’t come from their home. Shawn also has what looks to be frosting from a donut or other pastry smeared around his face.
“Shawn, did you eat a whole bag of Halloween candy?” she asks, incredulously.
“Nope! Gus and I were having a competition,” Shawn answers, spinning around in the chair.
“What kind of competition?” she asks wearily, having learned that Shawn and Gus’s competitions can be a little… strange.
“Gus bet me that I couldn’t eat more candy than him in five minutes! I won! Plus I ate three donuts and two poptarts!”
“Where is Gus then?”
A moan from under the desk has Juliet leaning over. Her husband’s best friend and one of her closest friends is laying on the floor on his back underneath her desk. Gus has untucked his shirt and his hands are resting on his stomach. He looks like he could vomit at any second.
“Oh! Here!” Shawn exclaims standing up so quickly that he nearly falls face down. However, in his haste to get around the desk, he actually trips over Gus’s legs and falls face first on the ground. He stands up, unshaken and unhurt, and drops a small bag of M&Ms into her hand.
“They were all that were left, sweetheart. I stole them from Gus!”
“Thank you, Shawn.” He presses his lips sloppily to her cheek and she can’t help but grin, even though she knows that he’s leaving frosting on her cheek. He can be a bit of an idiot sometimes, but dammit she loves him.
“Let’s go find our bad guy!”
“Shawn, there’s no case right now.”
“Yeah there is. The spirits are telling me there is one!”
She sighs and takes his hand, leading him out of the station. Shawn’s rambling the whole time. She can make out “sweetheart,” “the spirits,” and “Jules,” but anything else is lost in his sugar-fueled ramble. He’s still rambling when they get to the bench a few feet away from the station.
“How much sugar did you have?” Juliet asks when Shawn finally stops rambling.
“Gus and I got snow cones and French fries for lunch, and then we saw the giant bag of candy! Plus the three donuts and two poptarts,” Shawn says as he starts to bounce his leg.
“Yeah, maybe try a sandwich or something for lunch next time.”
“Where’s the fun in that, Jules?”
“Please don’t have a day of just sugar, again. I’d rather you not have a heart attack or other cardiac issues.”
“Okay. Let’s go to the Ghirardelli factory!”
“Shawn, it’s like three in the afternoon. I still have to work and so does Gus.”
“That’s no fun! Could we go tonight?” Shawn’s pouting and his hazel eyes look completely earnest, if a bit crazed from the sugar. She sighs and kisses his cheek.
“Maybe not the chocolate factory, but maybe we could go out to dinner, depending on what happens later.”
“Okay.”
“Come on, let’s go back to the station. Maybe you can help me move Gus out from under my desk.”
“Hey! We should prank Lassie!”
“Shawn, no. You aren’t going to prank call Carlton today. He’s working and it’s Lily’s first day of kindergarten.”
“Okay. We’ll do it another time.”
She sighs and takes Shawn’s hand in hers. His hands are slightly sticky, but she doesn’t really mind. She also knows that he’ll crash in an hour or so.
