Just finished replaying Subnautica Below Zero. It was fun! I forgot how just endearing this game is.

I also forgot how unstable it could be sometimes. Like my Spy Pengling let me pick up my Trivalve and I got all excited and let ALL my Trivalves out. But… apparently the Spy Pengling isn’t supposed to let you do that and it was a glitch I couldn’t replicate. So I just decided might as well take these guys everywhere with me. Commit to the little guys experience

so I did. Screenshot dump time!

The Best Part though was seeing my little guy wander into the Al-An cutscene.

There he is!

That alone made it worth wrangling those guys all the way through past those shadow leviathans and crystal mazes. Seeing my little man casually walk on screen took me out. Was not expecting that! Bringing them to the final thing also really glitched them out. I don’t think you’re supposed to do that.

But you can in fact do it anyway. Robin can take all the little guys all the way to the Architect Homeworld. I have so many emotional support guys for when Al-An’s fears that he’s the last of his species and it’s all his own fault are confirmed.

somehow despite having played subnautica many times now i never noticed that the sea treaders will just poop from time to time. i found out while trying to scan one when it crapped right in my face hashtag blessed

its one of my favorites games! i got the first game for free on epic and have been playing ever since, i bought subnatica below zero while it was still in early access and played it as it was being made, its one if my special interests that sit in hibernation for a period of time before coming back full force every few months.

im about 3/4 of the way through my second play through the first game but I’ve never actually finished the second game because I kept switching computers and getting all my progress so…ill probably get one of my safe files off my older computers eventually i don’t want to restart AGAIN

i’ve actually known about Subnatica 2 being in development for a while (which is actually the thrid game) (its just called that because Below Zero was one of those DLCs that was turned into an official installment in the series) im hoping they’ll fully embrace the horror aspect of the game this time and there will be a return of the wide open spaces and giant Leviathan that can end you in two hits

Some shots of the Twisty Bridges biome I built my base in. The only things you have to worry about are figuring out how to build your base, and the Brute Sharks. But those are more annoying than scary.

Speaking of which...

I love the Lily Pads biome, but it's quite a distance to reach, and the Squidsharks pose a problem with their EMP blasts. So no base building here. Some cool Glow Whales and Lily Paddlers living there, though. (DO NOT PET THE LILY PADDLERS.)

Finally hatched some Sea Monkeys! :3 My brother and I named the first 2 babies Jellybean and Gummi Bear. And they now have a growing family because I apparently had a lot more room in the fishtank than I thought...

Can't exaggerate how much I love this one. The Mushroom Forests are beautiful, but it can be hard to capture in a single still image; this one lined up perfectly to showcase basically all of the biome's best features. A breathtaking solution to the problem of keeping things visible even where the light doesn't reach well.
