James) is decent if not groundbreaking but this is a film which values mood#and vibe over almost everything else‚ and there it succeeds grandly. dripping with gaslight agitation and unbearable tensions#as Dr M (sigh now I'm doing it) foolishly treks ever onward into the oncoming terrors. most of the film was spent wondering why he#deserved to be so royally screwed over by the spirits beyond‚ but he has a bit of a maniacal heel turn in the last act that does#go someway to mitigate the ghostly persecutions‚ or to justify them at any rate
