I to am obsessed with the stormlands and I want to hear all of your thoughts on it. Environment, fashion, clothing, everything!!! Please share your thoughts
Since there's no real-world culture George specifically assigned to the stormlands, I've always thought of them as a mix between welsh and the Scottish highlands (even though I also have some Scottish ideas for the north too whoops). Welsh and Scottish Gaelic are both insular Celtic languages and have some similarities, and I love the way they sound, all the consonants clumped together. So thus new headcanon that stormlanders have the common tongue as a second language, speaking some type of Celtic mashup at home and leading to very heavy accents. No one can ever understand Robert when he speaks this is real and true to me.
Rural Scottish and Welsh landscapes and environmental inspos for the stormlands...stunning beautiful gorgeous show stopping never been done before. Rainy and muggy and constantly damp. Cows everywhere in the greenery and waves crashing onto cliffsides. You know how those victorian novel heroines always go to the seaside for their health...I would be cured of every mental problem I've ever had if I lived in the stormlands. The salt air is a cure all.
And same thing with the Scottish and Welsh inspiration for the castles and keeps. They're all rounded which could be for practical purpose to bear the storms or just make them look sturdier, both of which are perfect to me. Love how they are all comparatively simple as well, and they are just so ancient which I adore soooo much
