Stonebwoy pops up amidst challenge by Shatta Wale - 'You have to be on my level if you want to clash with me' Old video
Following Shatta Wale's call for a 'showdown' between him and colleague musician Stonebwoy, a video shows Stonebwoy claiming he can only clash with someone on his own level. Shatta Wale, in a post on Facebook on August 29, 2024, challenged Stonebwoy to meet him at the Accra Sports Stadium for a battle to settle the dispute over who reigns supreme in the Ghanaian Dancehall genre.
This call comes after Shatta Wale has been taunting Stonebwoy throughout the week over his calls to be acknowledged in an article about pioneers in hiplife in Ghana. His call in a post on social media read: "I am issuing a formal challenge to @stonebwoy and his fans to meet me at the Accra Sports Stadium to resolve the 'Dancehall King' title dispute. If he and his fans decline this invitation, he should refrain from identifying as a dancehall artiste, as I consider him a reggae artiste."

As a songwriter and lyricist, he weaves tales of African life through a lens both introspective and socially aware. His fusion of Hip-Hop, Highlife, and Afrobeats, paired with his philosophically tinged narrative style, mirrors the creative forces behind rap titans like Jay Z, Nas, J. Cole, and Obrafour. His collaboration with Ghanaian rapper Shaker on the album "Pen & Paper" in 2017 garnered accolades and caught the eye of Lauryn Hill. This earned him an opening slot on her tour. Similarly, his 2019 debut album, "For My Brothers," was hailed as a landmark in the Ghanaian rap scene, dominated the Apple Music Charts, and gained a nomination for Album of the Year at the 3 Music Video Awards. Since 2019, he has accrued several awards, including the Adinkra Poetry Prize and an Artlink grant, for which he converted his album "For My Brothers" into a radio show aired across Europe.
