When Derek left Beacon Hills suddenly and without saying goodbye; Stiles was heartbroken because he thought they were getting somewhere, he thought that they could be something after that kiss they shared, not that someone knows about the kiss though.

Lydia is Stiles' best friend/sister so she knows better but Stiles keeps lying even to her. Stiles keeps saying "I know we never kissed or whatever, but I really thought he liked me too, Lyds. I really did. I don't understand why he just ran away."

A year goes by and now Stiles keeps saying to Lydia "I'm over him, I know I am." Lydia doesn't believe him, but if Stiles wants to keep lying to himself about it then she can do nothing but be there for her best friend/brother.

Derek comes back and Stiles is surprised of how easy it is to fall back into their old habits of saving each other and being flirty about it.

Lydia notices that and she goes to Stiles and says "So much for the 'I'm over him', huh?" and Stiles replies saying "But I am!" Lydia rolls her eyes and says "Sure, and falling right back into old habits so easily is being over someone?" Stiles sighs and says "Okay sure, I'm not over him. But I don't think anything will come from it, so it's better if I keep pretending I am over him, until I really am" Lydia sighs and says "You're really blind if you think Derek doesn't love too." and Stiles surprises her by saying "Oh, I know he does." and Lydia is confused and asks "Then why you don't think anything will come from it?" Stiles shrugs a bit and says "I lied to you when I said we never kissed. We did. Once. And the next day he wasn't here anymore. He doesn't want a relationship, and I can't do the 'friends with benefits' thing, you know I'm all or nothing and in this case it's pretty clear it has to be nothing." Lydia is contemplating and eventually she says "But Derek came back, that has to mean something, right?" to which Stiles replies with a "Not really." Lydia rolls her eyes and says "Go ask him about it." Stiles says "I don't want to." and Lydia asks "Why?" Stiles replies "I don't want to ruin our friendship. And I don't think my heart can take him leaving again."

This is sort of an out of left field question- but what are your thoughts on Peter and Talia being half or step siblings?

Obviously, they don’t look alike very much. And clearly genes are funky things and this is not damning evidence. But I think it’s a very personal hc to me bc I myself have a half brother who I love very much, but it does influence our interactions.

One thing I constantly think about is Peter being an unreliable narrator. And what we see of Laura from his pov is different than Scott and Stiles finding her body. Is he imagining she’s blond and looks more like him? Yeah sure this could just be casting inaccuracies. But it feels very personal lol.

Has Peter always felt a degree of distance with his family? Where did the idea of him being Talia’s left hand come from? Wouldnt he have been there in the alpha pack flash back if that was the case? Was he younger than Laura? This also brings to mind Papa Hale (who I like to imagine was a human part of the pack/another pack before him and Talia were in a relationship). Was Talia always a Hale? Or married in?

Anyway, I have many thoughts and questions. But I really appreciate your analysis and insight. Joining a fandom past its prime (affectionate) is sort of like being in the apocalypse where 80% of the fandom is dead, and finding a ‘survivor’ is a miracle. Anyway, if you feel like it, I would love your thoughts on it all :3

@dear-massacre and i talk about this quite frequently. it's a problem fam.

i do have a talia hale and peter hale and the hale family feels tags.

we don't really have any information other than some crumbs jeff has thrown us within canon.

in my opinion talia is the hale. there's no other option put forth. derek's father is such a non-entity that there's zero mention of him. the hales are clearly an old family of werewolves and were part of the very founding of beacon hills itself likely connected to the nemeton.

not to mention, season 3 has a lot to do with derek learning from and accepting talia's legacy and the legacy of the hale family. it also directly contrasts the argents. the argents pay lip service to being matriarchal but we know gerard has been calling the shots for decades whereas it seems as though the hales actually were.

so when you get down to it you can pretty much headcanon anything you want for how the exact specifics of how talia and peter are related but what we do know is talia was the older sibling and peter the younger.

peter doesn't actually talk about talia very much if at all. however, his monolog in monstrous is quite illuminating on peter's headspace while he was in a coma and pre-resurrection.

i predicted this. i told-i told talia this was going to happen... something like this was going to happen... i said that they were gonna come for us... " the argents, they're gonna come for us. they're gonna burn us to the ground-- burn us to the ground." did she listen? of course not! did anyone listen? they listened to her-- yes!-- say that everything was going to be fine. that we were all perfectly safe...perfectly safe... but she made us weak! she made us weak. and what happens to the weakest in the herd? they get picked off by the predators! we used to be the apex predators, until talia turned us into sheep.

with that said i do have my own ideas on their relationship given what we know. visionary is the episode that does the heavy lifting in the entire goddamn show in regards to this.

the age inconsistency comes from bringing back the younger actor from season 2 to play peter in visionary. it makes peter appear closer to derek's age than he actually is. i think it's almost part of peter's manipulations. it's his attempt to manipulate the audience as well just like he did lydia.

there's just simply no way talia hale didn't know about peter's everything. she was not only his older sister but she was his alpha. i think peter and talia may have been more similar than people want to believe.

peter is a lot of things. many of them contradictory. he loved his sister and clearly mourned her but that doesn't mean he didn't resent her just a little. he did still after all go with derek to retrieve her claws and i think there's something twisted up in him about how derek resembles her and begins to become more like her.

when you begin to sort of dig into what we know about the hale family the more one begins to question if talia was as benevolent as people assume she was. there's some seriously morally questionable things that occurred. talia did some shady things.

the real big one is that she coerced corrine into carrying her pregnancy with malia to term. the likely explanation is talia did this because she knew this would decrease corrine's power.

corrine is pretty explicit about this with what she says to malia:

you know, your real name isn't malia. you don't have a name. talia hale took you away from me before i could give you one.

and

corrine: i'm not going to stop, malia. i'm taking back what you stole from me. malia: i didn't steal anything. corrine: but you did. corrine: and I don't care if you're a willing participant or not. talia hale spent nine months trying to convince me of the miracle of childbirth. you know what it really felt like? a parasite. talia said it was a gift, that the coyote passes down part of her power to her daughter. she called it "beautiful." i call it "theft."

she also took peter's memories of malia's existence which considering peter's reaction doesn't seem like he had much say in. so in effect talia removed peter's agency.

she probably felt she had valid reason for doing these things. corrine was a threat and dangerous person but still it's really, really questionable. it still ended with malia's adoptive mother and sister being killed and malia going missing for years because corrine was vengeful over losing her power. talia was still alive when this happened.

of all people talia had to be aware of peter's -- you know -- everything and she probably held the leash. he wasn't a problem so long as she was the alpha and could control him.

talia also had to have been aware of and likely either approved of or encouraged him taking a mentor sort of role with derek. we see peter having a keen interest in derek in both visionary and the season 4 flashbacks.

like, who do we think ran off and told talia about what happened with derek and paige? who likely instructed peter on getting rid of paige's body and helping to cover up her death to protect derek and the family?

i actually fully believe she knew peter was skulking about the werewolf summit and may have even told him to do so.

talia is like the mona lisa smile of teen wolf. she's inscrutable but we get impressions about her and what she was like via the people that knew her. her children, her brother, her advisor and peers.

Looking over at Scott and Alison, you sighed and turned to Stiles and his date, again you sighed and just got up.

“Are you okay?” Alison asked.

You nodded your head and gestured to the exit for the movie.

“Yeah, just feeling light headed I’m going to go.”

“Are you sure?” Lydia asked.

You nodded and shuffled past everyone, Jackson gave you a dirty look as you shuffled past him and you kicked his shin a bit with a smirk.

You lead the movies and headed out to your car, sitting in it for a few moments before you started to drive away.

You had no direction on where you were going, you just drive to wherever you felt like driving to, simply just driving through the streets.

Hour passed, and you finally found your way back home and made your way upstairs.

You walked into your room, closed your door and turned on the light.

A small scream escaped your throat as you turned around.

“Shit Lydia?!”

“You’ve been gone for hours.”

“Huh?”

You pulled out your phone and tried to turn it on, it was dead. Tossing it in the bed you walked over to your alarm clock and had a look.

“I well damn you’re right, sorry, my phone must’ve died as well.”

“(Y/N) it isn’t safe out there alone, you know that. We were all so worried.” She sighed.

“I’m sorry Lydia, okay? I’m sorry, I was just uncomfortable and wanted to leave.”

“Uncomfortable? Who made you feel that way?”

Lydia instantly went into protective mode, standing up as she walked over to you.

You sighed and shook your head at her, hanging your jacket up as you grabbed some drinks from your mini fridge and held one out for her.

She took it and you sat in the floor, Lydia sat in front of you.

“No one… well everyone…”

“Why? We were just watching a movie?”

You couldn’t blame her for being confused, you weren’t exactly being very clear and that part was in you.

Sighing, you tried to find the words, and it was quiet for a few minutes.

“Lydia… you know I’m asexual right…?”

“Of course! You told me all about it when you found out, but I still don’t understand.”

You sighed again.

“Well… I’ve never been in a relationship either, you know that… and I’m always third wheeling someone, or just tagging along to group dates… it’s.. it’s weird…”

“Weird how?”

“I.. it makes me feel left out Lydia. You all have someone to love and hold you, I’ve got no one…”

“Why didn’t you say anything…”

You looked up at your sister and gave her a little smile.

“You’re all so happy, it’s been a while since I saw you guys that way, I didn’t want to ruin it…”

Lydia got up and hugged you, making you laugh a little bit as you hugged her back, resting your head on her shoulder.

“Your happiness is important to us as well (Y/N), I’ll let the others know, and next time we all meet up, no couple stuff.”

“Promise?”

Lydia held out her pinky and you smiled brightly at her, looping your pinky with hers.

“I promise.”

She stood up and pulled you up with her, grabbing your keys as she lead you out of your room.

“Where we going?”

“We’re going to watch the movie again, just me and you! Sibling bonding!”

“Can we get food too?”

“Sure! We’ll get whatever you want.”

You grinned and snatched the keys from your sister, knowing exactly what it was you wanted to get to eat, and you still had some time before the next movie screening was on.

You were so happy Lydia understood, because it was hard to explain something like that, and thankfully she never asked any questions or told anyone else about it either.

She wanted you to tell the others when you were ready, and not a day sooner

Okay, so you know how we have all more or less accepted that Stiles helped look for Erica and Boyd over summer? I keep thinking about how this meant he was also with Peter and Isaac for prolonged periods of time that summer, but when Stiles says “can someone kill him [Peter] please,” Peter gives him an offended look, all “really? After all the time we’ve spent together?” They’re also comfortable alone in Derek’s loft, and initially they’re just bantering with each other. If Stiles wasn’t with the pack over summer, why the hell is he so comfortable with the man who attacked his friends and spent an entire season tormenting Lydia, when that was pretty much his last interaction with Peter in canon? Either Stiles’ self-preservation is utter garbage and someone needs to hold an intervention for him, or he and Peter spent enough time together for Stiles to not worry for his safety while alone with Peter with everyone else too far away to help if Peter harms him.

You can tell there's been a shift in Stiles' relationships with everyone. Derek and Stiles are super comfortable with each other. Isaac and Stiles bicker (and insult) each other like siblings (I might be biased because my sister has asked me "What's with the scarf?" a million times). And Peter? Peter is all bark no bite with people he respects, and damn, does he respect Stiles... which Stiles doesn't really know, but he did help with Jackson, and he did help with Erica and Boyd (and he also didn't kill Isaac when he had the chance), and yes, Stiles' lack of self-preservation is very evident. So... that probably helps.

Ohhhh boy(s). I'm a slut for soft x rough ships in general, as well as redemption as relationship builder, so already I've shipped Derek x Theo and Derek x Jordan. Putting them all together is *chef's kiss*.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Derek and Theo both made life-changing mistakes in their youth, and they carried the guilt until it became a part of who they were, however consciously or subconsciously. Derek became closed off, angry, scared. He lost his family and couldn't bear to tell Laura or Peter (from what we are shown, at least). Theo lost his sister, and honestly his family too, even if that wasn't explained. His parents are terrified of him in 5x02, making it clear that he has done something to them in the past, whether himself or allowing the dread doctors to. Already I love Derek x Theo because of this - by the time we meet Theo, we've seen Derek go through so much character growth and learning. Seeing that interact with the chaos of Theo, seeing himself in the kid, would be fascinating, and Derek who we know by the time of season 5 would likely have sympathy and want to help Theo because he sees himself there. He may not be able to relate to taking his sister's heart, but he can fathom being responsible for a sibling's death.

Enter Jordan. We get Jordan somewhat in the middle of Derek's evolution, with him first really popping onto the radar in s3, which is also the time after Derek has not only once again lost part of his family (Erica and Boyd, almost losing Cora too) but also is sitting with making another big mistake in trust (Jennifer). He still can't fathom the damage possible when it becomes clear Stiles is the Nogitsune. He's afraid of that potential for someone to make a slip in judgment or misplace their trust and make a life altering mistake. Jordan isn't. Jordan rolls with the punches and actively seeks more information, wants to learn about himself and the supernatural. He's one of the first to just shrug when faced with it via Lydia, who he just assumes is a psychic and doesn't question it.

Come seasons 5 and 6, Derek is an evolved wolf - literally can change his shape to that of a wolf, and grew enough to be able to push past some of his trauma to embody the inherited full shift (we see so few full shift werecreatures and two already have Hale blood so inheritance rather than luck of the draw is the conclusion I take). Theo begins as a masquerade, someone we do not know once we see the end of 5x02 and understand everything he has told us, and the pack, is a lie. He doesn't even know himself because he has put on the mask too tight, repressing everything else except ambition and what a group of pseudoscientists told a literal child. Of course he believed them, just like Derek believed Kate and then Jennifer. Throughout season 5 we think we know Theo, but then Kira sends him to Hell (or teen wolf's equivalent) and he later gets a speedrun version of therapy via his sister repeatedly confronting him with what he's done. His greatest trauma face to face. Just like Kate in season 1 constantly taunting Derek (just with less heart-ripping-out. At least literally/physically.) This speedrun for Theo continues once he's resurrected and sees the fallout of what he did, as he is forced to interact with the pack once more, this time without his mask or the dread doctors shielding him.

Finally (sorry for the ramble lol) we have Jordan. Jordan, who is at war with his own supernatural side, the Hellhound that likes to think of its host as just being gone. The man who wasn't born or bitten but was saved and lives in coexistence with violence and death. But Jordan himself is softer, has love and care and patience. Patience that Theo and Derek haven't really had, at least not as unconditionally as Jordan provides. He doesn't take their bullshit, ever a realist, but he also doesn't hold the weight of what they've done over their heads. He understands. He sees them as they are and takes what they give him and he knows when they are being genuine. He shows them a better example than what they had forced themselves to be after their decisions cost people their lives.

How you meet

Derek: you had come back from college to visit your younger sister Lydia Martin. She had told you all about the supernatural world and soon discovered that you are also a banshee. You and Scott met when you when you where in the second grade and Scott was in the third. Stiles didn't pay much attention to yours and Scott's friendship because he was to busy drooling over Lydia Martin. You and Scott ended up being quite close and after a while Stiles started to notice that you would blush everytime Scott held your hand our touched you.

Stiles: you and Stiles meet at one of Lydia's house parties. Lydia forced you to come. I guess being Lydia's cousin has its perks. She made you wear a skin tight dress to show off all your curves. As you walked into the crowd you wanted to leave but Lydia said that you are going to meet her friends today. She introduced you to everyone and she couldn't find Stiles " where's Stiles, Scott" Lydia asked "probably trying to flirt with the girls and ends up being rejected" Scott said. You and Lydia found Stiles and he couldn't take his eyes of you and blushed " I'm yn Martin" you said " I didn't know Lydia had a sister" he said Lydia had gone over to flirt with Jorden. "Cousin actually" you replied so you two carried on with the conversation. And by the end of the night you got yourself a crush

Isaac: you where Derek's younger sister so you where already apart of the Hale pack soon Derek bit Isaac, Erica and Boyd. You and Erica where friends so you knew Erica and Boyd since they hung out together but you had never seen Isaac before he was tall, golden curly hair with icy blue eyes. You found him quite attractive but Derek smelt the sudden smell of attraction and knew immediately it was between you and Isaac so he shot you a death look and Isaac. That's how yours and Isaacs friendship blossomed.

Liam: you, Scott, Kira and Lydia where talking about how to get Liam Dunbar Scott's new beta. They where talking about something and you where just tuned out so you hear them say someone needs to ask him out to Lydia's party so they all turn to look at you. You say no but they ignore and push you over to Liam "h h hey I was wondering if you would like to come to on of my friends party's with me I'll send you the address" "ya sure" he said and walked off

Theo: you where walking through the forest like usual but something felt different like you where being followed. So you started walking faster and faster until you heard a branch snap from behind and you set off into a sprint. Maybe you were being paranoid but it was different like it wasn't a usual type of animal but a were wolf. You were also a were wolf but it didn't only smell like a wolf but also a coyote like Malia. Then you realises it was Theo. You stopped and asked why he was following you. "I heard an Alpha howl" " why do you think I came here the first place, that's Scott" you said and left him standing there
