@cmdrace asked: [ HEAL ] sender ends up in the receiver’s lap trying to tend to their wounds to the best of their abilities. ⇉ Trafalgar Law
Tumblr media
How things ended up this way, he could not determine. How they had pulled of such a feat, he still struggled to process. Yet, through the painstaking surgeries for both the strawhat and the Whitebeard commander, Law endeavored them BOTH without a single wandering thought. The surgeon had slipped effortlessly into a flow state: stents were implant, pins were placed, and sutures stitched split skin the best it could. There would be many grafts and a long series of surgeries ahead, but for now... the prognosis bore some promise for a successful recovery. Following the intensive procedures, the surgeon had become too exhausted to do much movement. As for the patient? Well, the patient was not supposed to move or perform anything particularly strenous. After all, if Ace (or Luffy) opened their wounds, they would be done for. All that work . . . for naught. Verdamnt. The elder brother had spilled into his lap. How, he was not certain. Then again, did that matter? At the precipice of the afterlife, a crucial time of recovery, Ace had meandered into his lap. That meant. . . . Fuck. Panic (briefly) spanned the doctor's features. Two ores of gold stared down at the bandaged man in his lap. He had no energy left to scan him. He had no energy to craft a space to even perform a scan. At least he could not feel any blood seeping from the bandages. He also could not see any staining of the bandages. Finally, the breath caught in his throat released. That was one worry off his mind. Now , the more pressing issue. The . . . literal pressing issue. "Get. Up." Law groaned, exhaustion evident in his low, adenoidal voice.

I think the worst part about this kidney stone surgery is the damn stent they left in the make sure I can pee as I heal
I feel like I have to pee all the time, it makes my ureter spasm, I can't lift more than 15 lbs at a time, and the most I can walk is like 20 minutes
now this is definitely better than my skin grafting surgery but that kinda goes without saying ...

Introduction To Cardiothoracic Surgeons
Cardiothoracic surgery covers a broad range of operations and procedures. However, a simple way to remember it is that a cardiothoracic surgeon combines two specialties at once. Cardiac surgery, which is focused on your heart and thoracic surgery which is surgery on chest organs. As such, cardiothoracic surgeons have to be highly skilled in their area and you want to ensure you have the best doctor possible. Your cardiologist will assess you first and if you need cardiothoracic surgery, they will refer you to one.

Qualifications Of Cardiothoracic Surgeons In Singapore
With the expertise and knowledge required for a cardiothoracic surgeon, you can expect them to be highly trained and professional. Following the completion of 5 years at medical school with one year of housemanship, doctors will then undergo a minimum of 6 years residency programme and longer to finally become a cardiothoracic surgeon.
The difficulty of this path, the cost and time investments all contribute towards ensuring that cardiothoracic surgeons are at the very top of their field. When choosing a cardiothoracic surgeon in Singapore you can rest assured that they are not only completely capable of handling your treatment, but also that they have the dedication to see it through.
Benefits Of Choosing A Qualified Cardiothoracic Surgeon In Singapore
Within Singapore there are a number of highly qualified cardiothoracic surgeons. As we discussed earlier, just to achieve that title is to undergo over 10 years of training and experience. Acknowledging this, it’s important to then choose a surgeon that you trust. To begin with, research your options for surgeons in Singapore and try to learn more about the individual you will eventually choose. Good doctors will have a reputation and it should be quite simple to find out more information such as their career history, experience and the reputation of their practice.
The bond between doctor and patient is an important one and if you don’t have full confidence in the person treating you, complications are likely to arise. Once you know more about your potential doctors, it’s always beneficial to speak with or preferably meet them to discuss further. Oftentimes, patients speaking to their doctors helps alleviate a great deal of stress and can give you the confidence you need to undergo the procedures required.
Finding The Right Cardiothoracic Surgeon In Singapore
As you begin looking for the right cardiothoracic surgeon in Singapore for you, there are a few things you’ll want to consider. Patient reviews are an excellent source of knowledge when making a decision like this. Previous patients will likely be highly vocal about the service and care they received due to the nature of these procedures. If the doctor has received poor feedback, it will become quickly evident and you’ll know who to avoid. The Harley Street’s Doctors are all highly experienced in their fields and are reputable cardiologists who can refer you to a good cardiothoracic surgeon.
When it comes to your treatment, they will take the utmost care to ensure that you are well taken care of. What’s more, they will fully prepare you for every step of the process as well as any possible outcomes, side effects or complications that may arise.

Market Trends:
A significant trend driving the embolic protection devices market is the rising adoption of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures. TAVR has emerged as a minimally invasive alternative to traditional open-heart surgery for treating severe aortic stenosis, particularly in high-risk patients. As TAVR procedures gain popularity, the demand for embolic protection devices has surged to mitigate the risk of periprocedural stroke and other embolic complications. The growing acceptance of TAVR among patients and healthcare providers, supported by expanding indications for its use in lower-risk patients, has led to substantial increases in procedure volumes worldwide.
Market Segmentation:
Distal filter devices currently hold the largest market share in the embolic protection devices segment. These devices are widely preferred due to their ability to capture and remove embolic debris while maintaining blood flow during endovascular procedures. Their versatility across various applications, including carotid artery stenting, saphenous vein graft interventions, and TAVR, contributes to their dominance. Recent advancements in distal filter technology, such as improved capture efficiency and lower crossing profiles, have enhanced their performance and ease of use. Industry leaders such as Boston Scientific Corporation and Medtronic plc have reported significant growth in their embolic protection portfolios, driven by the strong performance of their distal filter devices.

At HeartMate Clinic, we specialize in providing comprehensive cardiothoracic surgery services to help treat a variety of conditions affecting the heart and lungs. Our team of experienced, board-certified cardiothoracic surgeons is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge care with a focus on precision, safety, and patient well-being. Whether you require surgery for heart disease, lung conditions, or other related disorders, HeartMate Clinic offers innovative treatments designed to optimize your recovery and improve your quality of life.
Tumblr media
What is Cardiothoracic Surgery?
Cardiothoracic surgery involves surgical procedures that focus on treating conditions of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs within the chest cavity. These surgeries are essential for patients suffering from life-threatening diseases or conditions that cannot be managed by medication alone.
At HeartMate Clinic, we understand that surgery can be a daunting experience, but we are committed to guiding you through each step of the process. Our goal is not only to treat the disease but also to ensure that you feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout your journey.
Common Conditions Treated with Cardiothoracic Surgery
Our cardiothoracic surgeons are equipped to handle a wide range of heart and lung conditions, including:
1. Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
Coronary artery disease occurs when the blood vessels that supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle become narrowed or blocked, leading to chest pain, heart attacks, and other serious complications. Cardiothoracic surgery may be required to clear blockages and restore blood flow to the heart. The most common procedure for this is coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), a surgery where healthy blood vessels are used to bypass blocked or narrowed coronary arteries.
2. Heart Valve Disease
Heart valve disease involves damage or malfunction of the valves that regulate blood flow through the heart. It can lead to conditions like heart failure, arrhythmias, and other complications. Our surgeons perform both valve repair and valve replacement surgeries, depending on the severity of the damage. The goal is to restore proper valve function and improve the overall efficiency of the heart.
3. Aortic Aneurysm
An aortic aneurysm is a bulging or ballooning of the aorta, the large blood vessel that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body. If left untreated, an aortic aneurysm can rupture, leading to life-threatening bleeding. Cardiothoracic surgeons at HeartMate Clinic are skilled in performing aortic repairs, including endovascular stent grafts and traditional open surgeries, to prevent rupture and ensure the aorta functions properly.
4. Congenital Heart Defects
Congenital heart defects are structural abnormalities of the heart that are present at birth. These defects can vary in severity, and surgery may be necessary to correct issues such as holes in the heart or abnormal blood flow pathways. Our team works closely with pediatric cardiologists and pediatric surgeons to provide compassionate care for children and infants with congenital heart conditions.
5. Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is one of the most common and serious cancers affecting individuals worldwide. When diagnosed at an advanced stage, surgery may be the only option to remove tumors or affected lung tissue. The team at HeartMate Clinic is experienced in performing lung resection surgeries, including lobectomy and pneumonectomy, to remove cancerous cells and prevent the disease from spreading.
6. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Emphysema
COPD and emphysema are chronic lung diseases that often require surgical intervention when other treatments are ineffective. Lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS) and lung transplantation are two procedures that can help patients with advanced COPD and emphysema breathe more easily and improve their quality of life.
7. Esophageal Cancer
Esophageal cancer affects the esophagus, the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. When detected early, surgical removal of the tumor may provide the best chance for a cure. At HeartMate Clinic, we specialize in esophagectomy, the surgical procedure to remove part or all of the esophagus, depending on the extent of the cancer.
Our Approach to Cardiothoracic Surgery
At HeartMate Clinic, we are committed to providing the highest level of care in cardiothoracic surgery, focusing on both the technical aspects of surgery and the emotional well-being of our patients. Here’s how we approach each case:

Each patient is unique, and so is their condition. We take the time to thoroughly evaluate your health, medical history, and specific condition to develop a personalized treatment plan. 2. Minimally Invasive Techniques
Wherever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques that result in smaller incisions, reduced pain, and quicker recovery times. Minimally invasive procedures, such as robot-assisted surgery, allow us to perform complex surgeries with greater precision and less disruption to surrounding tissues.
3. Advanced Technology
HeartMate Clinic is equipped with the latest in medical technology to assist in diagnosing and treating heart and lung conditions. Our state-of-the-art imaging systems, robotic-assisted surgery tools, and heart-lung machines help ensure the accuracy and safety of each procedure.

The ability to salvage a limb that would otherwise be at risk of amputation is one of the most significant advancements in patient care. For individuals suffering from severe vascular conditions, diabetes, trauma, or infections, limb salvage surgery offers a lifeline—preserving both mobility and quality of life. At [Your Clinic Name], we specialize in this life-changing procedure, helping patients avoid amputation and regain the use of their affected limbs through advanced surgical techniques and personalized care.
What is Limb Salvage Surgery?
Limb salvage surgery refers to a series of interventions aimed at preserving a patient's limb, particularly when there is significant damage or compromised blood flow to the affected area. The goal is to prevent amputation by restoring blood flow, treating infections, or repairing damaged tissues so that the limb can be retained, often with restored function.
Limb salvage is typically considered in cases of:
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD): A condition where the arteries become narrowed or blocked, leading to poor circulation and potential tissue death in the limbs.
Chronic Infections: Severe infections, particularly those that affect the bones or tissues of the limbs, can lead to the need for amputation if left untreated.
Diabetic Foot Ulcers: Diabetic patients are particularly susceptible to severe foot ulcers and infections that can compromise the health of the foot and leg.
Trauma or Injury: In cases where trauma leads to extensive damage to blood vessels, nerves, or soft tissues, limb salvage procedures may be required to restore functionality.
Cancer or Tumors: When cancer affects bones, muscles, or tissues in the limbs, surgical interventions may be needed to remove cancerous tissue while attempting to preserve the function and appearance of the limb.
The Importance of Limb Salvage
Limb salvage procedures are crucial not only for preserving a patient's limb but also for maintaining their quality of life. The prospect of amputation can be devastating, leading to long-term disability, loss of independence, and emotional distress. By opting for limb salvage surgery, patients can often avoid these outcomes and regain their ability to walk, work, and live independently.
The importance of limb salvage surgery extends beyond physical function; it can also help to reduce the psychological toll that amputation can have on patients. Preserving a limb means preserving a person's identity, self-esteem, and sense of autonomy.
Techniques Used in Limb Salvage Surgery
Limb salvage surgery can involve several types of procedures, depending on the severity of the condition and the area affected. Some of the most common techniques include:
Revascularization: When poor blood flow is the primary cause of tissue damage, revascularization procedures like angioplasty or stent placement may be used to reopen blocked or narrowed arteries, restoring blood flow to the affected limb.
Debridement and Wound Care: In cases of infection or ulcers, the first step in limb salvage is often cleaning and removing dead tissue through debridement. This helps to promote healing and prevent the spread of infection.
Soft Tissue Reconstruction: For patients with severe tissue damage, reconstructive surgery may be needed to repair muscles, tendons, or skin. This can be done using skin grafts or flaps taken from other parts of the body.
Bone Repair or Replacement: In cases of trauma or cancer, bone grafts or prosthetic replacements may be used to restore structural integrity to the limb.
Osteomyoplasty: For patients with severe bone infections or vascular issues, this technique combines the removal of infected bone with a reconstructive procedure to help preserve the limb.
Nerve Repair: In some cases, nerves may be damaged due to injury or disease. Nerve repair procedures can restore feeling and function to the affected area.
Advantages of Limb Salvage Surgery
Choosing limb salvage surgery offers several key benefits for patients facing the prospect of amputation:
Preservation of Mobility: The most obvious advantage is the ability to maintain use of the limb, which can greatly improve a patient's ability to walk, work, and perform daily tasks.
Reduced Emotional Impact: The emotional toll of losing a limb can be profound, leading to depression and a loss of independence. Limb salvage helps to prevent these outcomes, maintaining a patient's sense of self-worth and mental well-being.
Improved Quality of Life: Patients who undergo successful limb salvage procedures often report a better quality of life, with enhanced mobility, greater independence, and reduced pain.
Faster Recovery: In many cases, the recovery time from limb salvage surgery is shorter than that of amputation and prosthetic fitting, allowing patients to resume normal activities sooner.
Personalized Care: Limb salvage surgery is highly specialized and often requires a personalized approach. Surgeons take into account each patient's unique condition, needs, and goals to create a treatment plan that maximizes the chances of success.
Who is a Candidate for Limb Salvage?
Limb salvage surgery is often considered for patients who are at risk of amputation due to:
Severe vascular disease that causes critical limb ischemia or tissue death
Diabetic complications that lead to non-healing ulcers or infections
Trauma that results in significant tissue or bone damage
Chronic infections that threaten the viability of the limb
Cancerous tumors that require removal of affected tissue but not necessarily the entire limb
Candidates for limb salvage surgery must be in generally good health and have a good chance of healing after surgery. In many cases, a multidisciplinary approach involving vascular surgeons, wound care specialists, orthopedic surgeons, and rehabilitation teams is needed to ensure the best outcome.
The Role of Early Intervention in Limb Salvage
One of the most important factors in successful limb salvage is early intervention. The sooner a vascular issue or injury is addressed, the better the chances of preserving the limb and preventing complications. Delays in seeking treatment can lead to more extensive damage, making it more difficult to preserve the limb and restore function.
For patients experiencing symptoms of poor circulation, chronic wounds, or severe pain, seeking prompt medical care can make a significant difference in the outcome. Early intervention can often prevent the need for more invasive procedures or even amputation.
