Edgewave Fest 2024 Presents...
Tumblr media
A queen of the stage wanted a band of skilled musicians who could bring her songs to life and let her be the star, so she read the right incantations and raised them from their graves.
Thus, X And The Dead was born.
Tumblr media
With Jaclyn on the drums, Oskar on the keyboard and Elmi on guitar, Xylina can finally realize her musical vision in its best form and sing her heart out to a crowd of thousands like she's always wanted.
Tumblr media
And don't worry about the undead members. They don't talk much, but they don't need too. The way they play so in sync with each other speaks for itself. All they care about are songs and sinew--I mean, SINGLES. Like their big SINGLE. You've heard it before: "Resurrection?"
Tumblr media
And if you haven't, this will be the perfect stage to get acquainted. Some who came early enough to see the end of soundcheck could swear on their life the lead singer has hypnotic powers with how beautiful she sings. That's either a compliment, or she really does put you under hypnosis.
You decide. When you see them.
Tumblr media
@aniraklova this concept is the coolest thing ever and I'm so glad you created it. thank you!

Random Facts About Galileo
Bayverse!Donatello x reader
Tumblr media
All Children Dorothy Marie
Tumblr media
A/N: The first time I ever heard of Galileo was through a children's book called “Os to, Oskar… for evigt” by Bjarne Reuter, which translates to “Us two, Oskar… forever”. It is about a boy that finds a lion in his bedroom, called Oskar. The lion teaches the boy about the stars and eats his licorice, and soon the two become very good friends. I don’t remember how it ends, but whenever I hear the name Galileo, I think of a boy watching stars with a lion while eating candy.
Tumblr media
Warnings: None💜
Tumblr media
It is very obvious why you and Donnie decided on the name Galileo for your first born son. Named after the Italian philosopher and physician Galileo Galilei, and one of Donnie’s greatest idols. This set in motion a theme of names, that all of your children would be named after - historic people of science.
Galileo, nicknamed Gali, is the child with the longest age gap to his youngest siblings, being five years. Now, this comes with its pros and cons. But in Gali’s eyes, it mainly had its cons. He loves his sisters, but damn, could they be annoying. It could be very frustrating at times.
That is why Gali’s bedroom isn’t next to his sisters. The hallway of you and Donnie’s family, is located on a built in floor above the living area. One that Donnie made himself, and purposefully designed so that you and your husband's bedroom was placed between Gali and his sisters’ bedrooms. That at least brought a little more peace, but not always.
Gali had a strange relationship with messes. If it is a mess he has created, usually in his room, he would have no problem with it. He could have his floor littered with clothes, toys or whatever, and he wouldn’t have a problem with it. But was it a mess someone else had created, he couldn’t stand it. He wouldn’t be able to find these things, and oftentimes causing much stress. Which is one of the many reasons why he hates it when either you or Donnie tries to clean his room.
At Gali’s 15th birthday, he was gifted a weapon from Splinter as per tradition in your wonderfully special ninja family. He was given a jumonji yari. A spear-like weapon with three blades at one end. Splinter had decided on this weapon, due to more than just Gali’s personality. As your son grew older, it became evident that he had strong physical resemblance to his father - tall and lean, made for such a weapon.
Gali HATES being interrupted. If his hiding in a far corner of the lair, reading a book or playing a video game, it’s best to just leave him alone. He’s hiding for a reason. If only his sisters could just learn it…
You and Donnie had always seen the development of your children's knowledge as something important. But you also knew that knowledge came from experiences. Therefore you would often bring your children to April and Casey’s farmhouse, spending family time together along with teaching your kids about the outside nature. That was something Gali always looked forward to. Even before the birth of his siblings, Gali would learn about the forest with much enthusiasm. You would never forget the day you sat outside with your newborn twins, when your 5 year old son came running, wanting to show his sister the bug he and your husband had found somewhere between the trees. It was adorable to watch!
It was Gali who came up with the idea of the Big Siblings Club, which Romeo and Joan happily took part in. That involved hanging out every once in a while, and rant about their younger siblings, or generally just doing activities that excluded their younger siblings.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The graphics aren't super flashy, but I wanted to throw something together like this since I got lucky enough to have a lot of time to dedicate to reading this year <3 none of these are in a particular order.
Honorable mentions:
Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah. Bones and All by Camille DeAngelis. The Warm Bodies trilogy by Isaac Marion.
Honorable mentions (movie edition): Lisa Frankenstein, Stalker, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Hundreds of Beavers.
Top reads (Released this year):
1. The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman. An adventure-fantasy story for anyone who's ever loved arthurian legends. A young knight arrives at Camelot only to find that Arthur has died at the battle of Camlann, and the Round Table has all but fallen apart. Those that remain embark on a quest to determine Camelot's fate in Arthur's absence. Lev Grossman was the perfect person to write an arthurian story, as he's got a style that lends itself so well to walking the line between the grounded and the fantastical.
2. Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle. A Hollywood screenwriter is told that the queer leads of his horror series either have to stay in the closet or end in tragedy. While grappling with this decision and its impact on his career, all of his former movie monsters begin to manifest in the real world. A commentary on the state of the film industry that very much hit home.
3. Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky. A household model robot finds that it has killed the human it serves, and it does not know why. As it leaves to look for a new human to work for, it finds a world that has broken down, forgotten itself, and gotten stuck in endless loops of faulty and contradictory lines of code. Reminiscent of Asimov's robots, and full of charm.
Top books (Read this year, but published any time):
1. Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. 12-year-old Oskar has an obsession with serial killers and bloody true crime stories. He's lonely, heavily bullied at school, and surrounded by adults who have overlooked his struggles. When a gruesome murder happens in his town and a strange girl moves in next door, he gets caught up in something larger than himself. This book goes to some very dark places, to the point it makes it a hard recommendation to just anyone, but there's an extremely sweet friendship at the center of it that has made it stick with me. And I don't know that I've ever read anything that understands how fear feels when you're 12 years old like this one did.
2. Christine by Stephen King. Nearing the end of their last summer before graduation, Dennis' best friend Arnie falls in love. It's a 1958 Plymouth Fury that barely functions, bought from a bitter old man who can't drive her anymore. As Arnie grows more obsessed with the car, the cracks in the other parts of his life start to show, and soon enough, the bodies start to pile up. This one really left its hooks in me, and if I didn't feel like I still needed a larger backlog of books I've read at work for work purposes, I probably would've read it another couple of times by now. I love love loved the narrative style.
3. Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer. Decades ago, a strange border appeared around the Forgotten Coast in the Southeastern US. The Biologist on the twelfth expedition to enter Area X keeps a journal detailing her experiences in this strange, new landscape. No one has been well-enough prepared for what they find. The start of the Southern Reach quadrology, and Vandermeer's best-known series. Extremely difficult to describe, but extremely good, too. At the core of it, it's a story about trying to understand the things that you never truly can; alien wildlife, the course of nature, the wider universe, other people.
4. The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez. "Two young men find themselves with the task of carrying a weakened goddess across a continent in order to end an empire's reign" is technically the premise, but it doesn't really do it justice. Told to you as if you are in a theater, watching a play, two young men find themselves stuck together with what little remains of an ancient, long-held-captive goddess. The lore and the history of this world runs deep, and it's some of the most unique and incredible mythology that I've read in fantasy fiction. Highly highly highly recommend.
Nonfiction (Really the only nonfiction I read this year, shhh)
1. Unmask Alice by Rick Emerson. An investigative look into the life of Beatrice Sparks, the woman behind the Go Ask Alice and Jay's Journal "diaries" that held high praise and influence during Nixon's War on Drugs and the Satanic Panic. The book takes care to really set the stage on the culture and the world that these books came into, as well as how they affected it. It also takes care to handle the subject of the young men or women that did or did not really exist behind Sparks' published diaries. Tragic in parts, and there have been some fair criticisms of the writing style Emerson chose for the book, but it is a good thing that a full, comprehensive, easily-accessible version of this story exists. A lot of people who were influenced by these books remain unaware of the scam artist that existed behind them, and it's just.. tragic that she held so little regard for the lives she affected when she published them.
2. American Scary by Jeffrey Dauber. A history of horror in America, both real and fictional, and how they influenced one another over the centuries. It's very, very long, and very dense, and comparable to a textbook, but its still been an enjoyable read. Dauber covers a *lot* in this book, and I think for anyone with a strong interest in the history and in analysis of the genre, it's worth spending a while picking at. It's also heavily citated, with about a thousand different sources that Dauber has pulled from, so it sets you up pretty well to find something to read on any one of the more specific topics Dauber moves through.
Films!
No One Will Save You (2022): A really creative, really fun home invasion movie. With very little dialogue, No One Will Save You tells the story of a lonely young woman who's largely been ostracized by the people in her hometown. On the night that aliens invade, she has to fend for herself in order to survive. The performance by Kaitlyn Dever really knocks this one out of the park.
The French Dispatch (2021): I've seen other people call this movie a loveletter to journalism, and it really, really is. A publication called the French Dispatch is set to shut down after the death of its founder. A sort of anthology, the film takes us through a few of the publication's most memorable or iconic stories. I haven't seen much of Wes Anderson's work yet, but I've seen enough to know that his style *really* really worked for this one. It's funny, it's touching, it's stylish, and it was a really good ride.
In a Violent Nature (2024): A movie I liked so much that I started a film blog as an excuse to write a review, and then failed to continue that blog after writing it. Pitched as a slasher film from the slasher's POV, it's a great blend of the slasher format and the more slow, atmospheric kind of horror that's associated with the art house genre. This movie is, visually, very beautiful, employing a style reminiscent of 35mm photography. The performances were fun, the kills were great, the experience of watching it in a theater was a really good time. I really enjoyed it!
Let the Right One In (2008): One of two adaptations of the book of the same title. This one is incredibly atmospheric, and really captured the emotion of the original story. The performances are fantastic- it's just a really, really solid adaptation. I do also recommend the American remake, Let Me In, as it makes some interesting choices in not only remaking the film, but in adapting it specifically to an American setting.
And finally, closing remarks: raise your standards for queer fantasy literature and read The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez.

Fionna and Cake x SVTFOE AU
This idea has been floating around my head for a while, and eventually I decided to draw it! As of now this AU (If you can even call it that lol) is on a unspecified hiatus. but I may revisit it sometime soon. Anyways here's all of the characters I made for it!
Starting us off we have Star the Human! Similar to Fionna, she's rocking that classic blonde hair, but let's hers hang out rather than bunching it all up. She's never afraid of a adventure, and with Marco by her side, they can conquer anything
Tumblr media
Marco the Cat! Best friend and older brother figure to Star, he's always there to support his friends and act as a voice of reason when things get out of hand
Tumblr media
Prince Thomas Trident rules the Candy Kingdom with compassion and empathy but lets his temper get out of hand at times. He has some unusual features, "Demonic" as Janna puts it, with pointy ears, sharp teeth, and a extra eye, there may be more than the candy prince is letting on
Tumblr media
Janna Lee the Vampire Queen! Owner of Star and Marco's tree house, she lets herself in whenever she pleases, takes what she wants, and messes with Marco as much as possible! Janna also enjoys pulling pranks on the candy people, and especially their prince
Tumblr media
Lady Jackie-Lynn the Oceachromicorn! Right hoof to Prince Tom, Jackie's always there to calm her friends down, especially her Boyfriend Marco.
Tumblr media
Hunter Wizard AKA Oskar is the laidback Wildman of the woods. He spends most of his days trying (and failing) to make music, and fending off the various threats that comes with living in a forest
Tumblr media
Lumpy Space Pony! Does anyone actually enjoy her company? No one really besides Star & which causes her to be a little clingy to her since she's her only friend. Yes, she's selfish, yes she's entitled, but she means well in her own way and will always try to help
Tumblr media
Finally, we have the Ice Queen, formerly known as Eclipsa Petrikov. She tries to maintain a professional appearance, but it's hard when a wand is making you lose your mind. She hangs out in the Ice Kingdom most of the time, and occasionally tries to kidnap a prince or two. Deep down though, she's just a troubled soul and I think she can sense somethings wrong too
Tumblr media
And.. that's everyone! So far at least. Like I said this AU is on a hiatus for who knows how long, but I do plan on coming back to it sometime soon! I also plan on making more dynamic/expressive poses for the character images in the future, but that'll most likely take a while. With all that said, Thank you to anyone who stayed until the end, it means the world to me!
Here's the "finale" photo!

Oskar x Star
I'm not doing the ask game now, but since you asked...
1: *Bob Belcher's voice* They certainly are standing right next to each other.
2: Meh, I get the appeal, but I still don't feel the vibe.
I mean, I don't think this ship is bad or anything. It's harmless
But, honestly, I don't really feel the vibe. Mostly because Oskar is just a flat character. His existence in the show was pretty much being the first love of one of the main leads before they fall for the real love interest. In this case, him being the first crush to Star (after breaking up with Tom). He doesn't really have much of a character aside from that and being into music
I mean I applaud people who do like it and make it work despite that, but eh, I don't feel it.

Ship: Oskar x Anyone?
Sorry this is late but the only ship I have for Oskar is with Star! I love Star’s crush on him, and how he tries to reciprocate later but unfortunately Starco must prevail
Also this moment is so cute to me, the show robbed us-
Tumblr media
I’m pretty sure Oskar/Star gets overshadowed a lot, because of how minor his character is. But we should take it seriously! It’s cute! Less exhausting than other ships!!!
But I think the real reason why I like Oskar/Star is because…it’s literally them.
Tumblr media
At least in my eyes, you see the vision right??

Rebbie's Wrestling Show Reviews - RevPro: Live in Southampton 29 (1/4/2024)
April Fool’s Day, Bank Holiday Monday, and RevPro Live in Southampton 29! It was a big day on 1st April 2024. Me and my dad made our way down to The 1865 for an evening of wrestling greatness just 24 hours after Revolution Rumble 2024, where Luke Jacobs would win the titular match! Before the show, we perused the merch tables which had quite a lot to choose from! I ended up picking up a signed print from the Grizzled Young Veterans. I’m a big fan of GYV, as well as a fellow Liverpool FC fan, so I simply had to. Shook their hands and they recognised us from roughly 30 minutes before when we had both been in the same Forbidden Planet shop looking around. My dad actually had to point them out to me after I walked straight past them somehow. I was also able to get a photo with them, which was awesome. Lovely blokes! We then stood back and got ready for the show.
As Francesca kicked things off, David Francisco got on the mic to express his frustrations. He’s sick and tired of being a Contender, essentially a trainee of RevPro, a position he has held for well over 2 years. He takes off his Contenders shirt, revealing his Chaotic Neutral tee, and says he’s stepping away from being a Contender whether management likes it or not. The crowd are absolutely chuffed to hear this, and he gets a great reaction. As he storms out, he runs into the Contender he beat for a spot in the Rumble, Joshua James.
Gabe Kidd def. Joshua James in 10:14
Fun smacking scrap, with a whole lot of chanting to start. Great sport for Josh James! This one had lots of wild chops and slaps, and was a pretty good slugfest! Kidd gets the win after a good showing by James, the big man being put away by a Kidd piledriver. It would take “War Ready” two attempts though, with his knee buckling on the first. Kidd won, but James was the one who left under his own power, and Kidd appeared to respect him for his effort.
3.5 STARS OUT OF 5
Oskar Leube vs. Mike D Vecchio ended in a double countout in 9:55
Absolutely wild big man clash from two monsters! Leube is a exciting big man and Vecchio impressed me greatly in my first exposure to him. The “Belgian War Machine” is absolutely massive, his shoulders are about as wide as he is tall, and the things he does despite such a superstar look were incredible. The speed with which both men hit the ropes was insane, and Vecchio hit flips and the like it was nothing. All his offense was off the chain, leaping halfway across the ring and chopping like he wanted to go through Leube. Despite a small slow period in the middle, this one was electric and it’s a shame it ended how it did. Both men obliged the fans though and kept fighting until RevPro officials tore them apart. I want to see these two go at it again.
3.5 STARS OUT OF 5
Robbie X def. Aigle Blanc in 15:56
Cruiserweight clash! This one took a small amount of time to grow on me, but by the end this one was an awesome time. Just two great high-flyers giving it their all for the Southampton faithful. It was frenetic, it was fast, and it was a good time for all. A Canadian Destroyer followed by an X-Clamation get the win for Robbie X.
3.5 STARS OUT OF 5
Luke Jacobs def. Shigehiro Irie in 13:12
One more match before the break and it’s a big one! The number one contender to the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship takes on “Beast Mode”. This one didn’t quite live up to my loftiest of hopes, but it was a pretty good big man clash in the end. Lots of meaty chops, big power moves, and even a stark reminder from Irie to “never give up”! We were sure to “Get Shiggy with it” as we chanted, but Jacobs would get the win in the end by making Irie tap-out to the crossface. I guess sometimes you need to give up…
3.5 STARS OUT OF 5
With that, it was time for intermission. We took this one easy and eagerly awaited the second half.
Anthony Ogogo def. Sha Samuels in 11:17
The Guv’nor is here whether we like it or not to take on the East End Bookie. This was a decent match of beloved babyface against hated heel, but it all came to an end when Ogogo hit that devastating right hand. Bosh.
3 STARS OUT OF 5
Ogogo got on the mic here to berate the crowd and laud over us all his accomplishments in RevPro, such as defeating RKJ and Samuels, as well as eliminating Oku from the Rumble. He wants the RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship, and tells Oku and his “Irish slag” Amira to listen up and give him the match. That’s not very nice. But Oku’s not at home! Here comes the champ, and he tells Ogogo to watch his mouth, reminding him that the last time he made a feud about nationality, he “accidentally made Cody Rhodes solve racism”. Huge pop for that one! Oku says if he wants a match he has it, and that they can do it right now. They brawl in the ring but a right hand knocks Oku out cold. Could the champion be in trouble?
Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) (c) def. Sunshine Machine (Chuck Mambo & TK Cooper) for the RevPro Undisputed British Tag Team Championships in 16:49
The new champs are here to take on the ever-popular Sunshine Machine! Some words are exchanged and once we made an acceptable amount of noise, the GYV decided to oblige us all and put the titles on the line! This was a good fun tag clash between two of the UK’s best teams. Mambo’s mastery of the ropes was on full display, as was the lethal speed of Drake and his flying dropkicks. It’s back and forth, with both teams looking to be victorious on occasions until Mambo is planted with a Doomsday Device and a double Ticket to Ride facebreaker for the win. Grit your teeth.
3.5 STARS OUT OF 5
Post match, GYV offer a handshake which a frustrated Sunshine Machine weakly accept. They aren’t happy. Francesca heads into the ring to ask them what’s next for them. Mambo is still pretty out of it, so TK Cooper gives his answer. He sarcastically thanks Francesca for rubbing it in with her question, saying he hasn’t seen her do this anywhere else on the show. Another big pop in the promos here, we loved that. Cooper says they never win in Southampton (they have technically won 2 out of 7 here but shhhhh, one was an elimination 8-man tag though). He concludes they need to go back to the drawing board somewhat, and they take their leave.
Josh Alexander def. JJ Gale in 18:31
It’s the hometown boy versus the international star from Canada. Loud chants of “He’s one of our own” to kick things off. This was a pretty good clash between two top draw wrestlers. Gale gave his absolute all to put away the more experienced Alexander, hitting multiple dives and a whole bunch of his signature offense, but he’s never able to connect with that Gale Force. Alexander himself dishes out all sorts of punishment like rolling German suplexes, an ankle lock, and a powerbomb onto the knee, but Gale weathered through it all. When the straps come down and that brutal C4 Spike is hit by Alexander though, that’s all she wrote for Gale.
3.5 STARS OUT OF 5
Final Thoughts After JJ Gale takes his moment main-eventing in his hometown, Francesca is here to say goodbye. We all join in to help along with the website name as the show comes to an end! Overall, it was a pretty fun show with some solid storyline advancement, and it maybe just needed a truly great match to reach the top tiers! Lovely stuff! I think for me this one has to be 3.5 STARS OUT OF 5 for me

After 4 years, 2 months and I do not know how many days of writing, editing and re-editing, revamping, and checking for mistakes. I finish the one-shot that I want to finish so badly.
Buster Shot, a story mainly focus on the relationship between the wizard, Janaya and his guitar-playing imagomancer godsister, Corral Lynn-Foster, and how Corral play a role in some of the people from Townsville in Janaya’s life.
