Every MLP G3 Special In a Nutshell

A Charming Birthday: A bunch of ponies construct a 50 ft tall friendship bracelet for the village hermit's birthday cos she've never been surprised before. I think that would surprise anyone tbh.

Dancing in the Clouds: Two ponies ride a rollercoaster, immediately get inspired to do a dance routine and then GOD APPEARS to summon butterflies to make the ponies fly. Cos why dance in a routine when you can cheat?

Friends are Never Far Away: This is the first time I've seen in a kids cartoon where the main characters meet indigenous people with the offering of friendship and not colonisation and seizing their land. Funny how MLP G4 completely spat on that idea.

The Princess Promenade: A pony becomes princess because she was given a flower by a stinky old lizard...oh and she also has to organise a flower parade as well because a pixie couldnt do it....Nah, being a princess is boring, let's make everyone princesses!

A Very Minty Christmas: Minty's OCD caused her to break a magic candy cane and thinks she's ruined Christmas for everyone so she goes on a perilous journey to fix things when all her friends want is her to be home. Awww.

The Runaway Rainbow: A unicorn filly who's a part of The Rainbow Justice League is teleported to Ponyville, spends a day rolling around in mud and eating cake and then says im tired i wanna go home. Oh and this filly is apparently a vital element of nature because without her making rainbows, THE COLOURS OF THE WORLD ARE FADING THIS IS A SIGN OF THE END TIMES

The Ladybug Jamboree: Pinkie has a brain blast that makes all her band members play successfully for the first time...moments before they go on stage

Greetings from Unicornia: Rainbow Dash and Rarity fuck around in a castle for a few minutes

Come Back Lily Lightly: A unicorn is scared of being judged because her horn lights up when she giggles... I have no idea what kind of metaphor this is supposed to be.

Two for the Sky: A lesbian couple desperately want to fly. They get their wish but they quickly hate it cos they cant sleep together with those giant wings in the way.

Positively Pink: The ponies pink-ify the entire town for Pinkie Pie's birthday but realise they just wasted a whole day because her birthday's not until tomorrow.

Pinkie's Special Day: Oh so this is what they did for her birthday: they gave her a clipshow! Wow, that's cheap. That's like the giftcard equivalent of birthday surprises.

Rainbow Dash's Special Day: OH GOD DASH WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU WHY DO YOU SOUND SO WRONG?!

Star Song and the Magic Dance Shoes: Starsong and Pinkie try to do a dance routine without their shoes but realise its they cant dance without them. THE SHOES ARE A CRUCIAL ELEMENT IN DANCING WHERE'S THE SPARKLY PINK SHOES?!

Pinkie Pie's Party: Pinkie Pie has an anxiety attack during a trip about party and then goes to speedrun prepare for a party. Then her friends decide to make a party out of preparing for a party. Yknow Ponyville can make even paying taxes sound like a party.

Rainbow Dash's Party: Dash hosts a hat fashion show for all her friends where she likes everyones hats so much, she lets them all win. Even though one clearly should’ve won. I mean come on, Starsong’s has functioning piano notes on it. Do you know how much wiring goes into that? No, in fact Toola Roola's should win, its got the best motif and why arent easel-style berets a thing yet? Im way too into this. Lets carry on.

Cheerilee's Party: The ponies have a sleepover where they refuse to go to sleep. Hey, why dont we let Crane tell the scary stories. That'll help them stay awake.

Scootaloo's Party: Scootaloo hosts a sports day party for her friends and they decide to give her the trophy. Awww.

Starsong's Party: A pony gets stage fright about singing on stage but her friends encourage her to try anyway at a concert and whilst the pony is singing off stage, the curtains go up, revealing her talented voice to the world. And then G4 remade this plot into someone's nervous breakdown.

Toola-Roola's Party: Toola Roola spends a whole day waiting for her friends' painted plates to finish drying cos she doesnt know what a kiln is. Then she gets them mixed around cos the namecards are lost when its clearly obvious which is which. What a disaster horse.

Sweetie Belle's Party: The ponies put their own ideas for a cake into one batter, end up making something that even Buddy the Elf would have a heart attack and then Sweetie Belle suggests making them into a cake with separate layers….that’s still gonna taste like shit.

Twinkle Wish Adventure: A dragon steals a star Pokemon from the ponies because she thinks its a toy and by her logic, will help her get more friends. And then the ponies sing about how great their friendship is. Girls, she stole your property. Punch her.

Waiting for the Winter Wishes Festival: This is literally just a deleted scene from Twinkle Wish adventure. If you want to see Scootaloo fumble around doing a holiday tiktok dance, here it is.

Sweetie Belle's Gumball House Surprise: The core 7 ponies spend 5 minutes searching for Sweetie Belle in her house via scavenger hunt only to find she's just in the backyard. The little gremlin.

Pinkie Pie's Ferris Wheel Adventure: Pinkie creates/manages an entire theme park by herself just for her friends to visit. Pinkie, where did you get the money to create this theme park? Are you a rich kid? Do you have a trust fund?

So Many Different Ways To Play: Baby Scootaloo is just pure chaotic gremlin mode and drives her sister and her friend ragged. This is the content I want to see.

Over Two Rainbows: The baby ponies find out baby Sweetie Belle has god-like powers but just wants to have a dress up party. AND APPARENTLY BABIES ARE MADE WHEN TWO RAINBOWS FUCK

The World's Biggest Tea Party Live: It's weird to see me watch this without 3 ex-bronies screeching at the screen for how 'cringeworthy' it is and then go completely off the rails to talk about Tumblr memes and have nipple fights.

....Oh yeah, the plot of the show is that Pinkie and Minty have a miscommunication boo-boo and now their tea party's fucked cos they aint got a teapot. Then they ask the audience to summon a giant teapot with the Tea-necronomicon. There was much rejoicing

Hi Everyone!! Here is another next gen for my Blossom Love AU. Marcellus's parents are Elliot and Sofia with Star Catcher being his stepmother. He also has a little stepsister named Starlight Song. Elliot and Sofia were happily married for 2 and a half years or so Elliot thought. One day, Elliot found out from his best friend, Leah, that Sofia has been cheating on him during her business trips to Zuzu City. Of course, Elliot confronted Sofia about it and she instantly told the truth about her cheating on him which caused Elliot and Sofia to divorce. Due to Sofia telling the court that she didn't want her son, the court decided to give Elliot full custody of Marcellus since the divorce happened 3 months after Marcellus was born. After Marcellus got older, Elliot fell in love with Star Catcher and got married after dating for a year. Star Catcher later had Starlight Song a few years later. Marcellus is quite the gentleman and loves to treat others with the respect that they deserve. He's also quite soft spoken and doesn't like being the center of attention much but he is very social and does like to hangout with his friends quite often. Marcellus treats his little sister as if she was his full biological sister and has a close bond with her. He also cares and treats his stepmother as if she was his biological mother as well. Marcellus is currently dating Abigail (Beatrix Lebeau and Viktor Humphries's daughter). Marcellus is also a world renowned author and has written several novels that have become instant best sellers and he's a very skilled baker. Credit goes to Selenaede for the base I used and to ConcernedApe, Sad Panda Studios, Monomi Park and Hasbro for creating Stardew Valley, Crush Crush, Slime Rancher, Slime Rancher 2 and My Little Pony G3 as well as creating the characters, Elliot, Leah, Sofia, Star Catcher, Beatrix Lebeau and Viktor Humphries as well as creating the location Zuzu City as well. My Little Pony crossovers and collabs that I want to see happen- Part 1

(In no particular order)

Fashion

My Little Pony x Minori– this person is a revolutionary model who reinvented “Shironuri” (painted in white) street fashion in Harajuku, Japan. She has been featured in Vogue and has an international following. Moore often than not, her artistic outfits consist of soft and flowing pastels, which would work quite nicely with MLP’s image and pastel ponies. Ideally, the pony I would like to see utilized in this collaboration would be Rarity, who is also a fashionista and well versed in the art of style, but also Fluttershy, who has had her moment in the spotlight with modeling, but is also quite knowledgeable about sewing as well. Perhaps also to be considered is Celestia, as her color scheme would work nicely with the Shuronuri theme and iconic styles of Minori, who best utilizes the fashion; along with a possible dusting-off and reappearance of the g3 original character, Kimono in the style of g4 (or g5)- for obvious reasons.

My Little Pony x Moi-même-Moitié– this gothic lolita fashion brand is iconic in Japan, and was created by the visual kei gothic metal band, Malice Mizer/ Moi Dix Mois’ leader and guitarist, Mana. While the image of this brand doesn’t necessarily mesh with a bright and pastel little ponies, there are a few darker-themed lines of this popular toy brand that could work nicely with it; case in point, the Ponymania collection. While they seemed more like a mishmash of visual kei rock, gothic lolita, and sweet lolita all rolled into one, a second attempt at this Ponymania theme, in collaboration with Mana’s fashion brand, with Ponies such as Moonlight Raven, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Princess Luna, and Inky Rose would be perfect for this.

Music/ Vocals

My Little Pony x Yoshiki– a Japanese musician, songwriter, composer, record producer, and co-founder of the heavy metal visual kei band, X Japan. This guy is pretty major, as he was requested by the Japanese government to compose and perform a song for the Emperor’s coronation, has a radio station named after him, collabed with American comic book legends like Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane (as well as a guest of honor at Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo), along with music legends like KISS, designed theme songs for the Golden Globe Awards, played a concert in Madiison Square Garden, has a hologram of himself, and so many more monumental achievements. As to why I think MLP should collab with him, he is a phenomenal musician and songwriter. If he were to work with Daniel Ingram or just standalone, I suspect that future songs for any reboot series for MLP would be equally exquisite.

Animation and Story Direction

My Little Pony x Hayao Miyazaki– One of Japan’s highly respected and most prominent film directors/ producer/screenwriter/ animator/ author, manga artist/ co-founder of studio Ghibli who is responsible for a laundry list of amazing animated films like Spirited Away (which won an Acadamy Award for best Animated Film (making it the only hand drawn animated film and non-English-language animated film to win that award), and was the highest-grossing animated film in Japanese history, and overtook Titanic, at the time, as highest-grossing film worldwide). A collab with this man would be refreshing, as like MLP, many of his works are characterized by themes such as environmentalism (humanity’s relationship with nature and technology), pacifism (the difficulty of maintaining a pacifist ethic in a violent world), feminism, love, and family. In addition, The protagonists of his films are often strong girls or young women. Miyazaki has described his female characters as “brave, self-sufficient girls that don’t think twice about fighting for what they believe in with all their heart”, stating that they may “need a friend, or a supporter, but never a saviour” and that “any woman is just as capable of being a hero as any man” For a show about ponies that promote love and friendship, a collab with a person such as this seems ideal.

Anime (Animation)/ Manga

My Little Pony x Star Darlings– This would be an ideal collab to make a reality in order to promote Hasbro’s IP: Namely, through the production and promotion line of a g1 (perhaps anniversary related) spinoff that would allow them to finally produce a group of long-time prototype ponies called the “celestial ponies”/ “Fancy Swirl” ponies, especially since there has been a bit of hype amid the Gen 1 community of pony collectors, which they’ve been trying to get noticed and made by a company called Bridge Direct/ Basic Fun. With their celestial theme, they would pair and play nicely with the Disney Star Darling franchise in collaboration, whose characters are based off the 12 astrological symbols and live in a setting called Starland, in the celestial skies.

Voice Acting & Series Appearances

My Little Pony x Wanda Sykes– An American voice actor, comedian, and writer. This is one person who has quite a distinctive voice and plays in a number of comedic roles, such as “Granny Sloth” in “Ice Age”, “Stella the Skunk” in “Over the Hedge”, and “Barb Baran” in “The New Adventures of Old Christine”. She was also named one of the top 25 funniest people in America by Entertainment Weekly. There’s no doubt her memorable voice acting could bring a fresh dose of comedic relief on MLP, especially in union with Pinkie Pie.

My Little Pony x Whoopi Goldberg– An American actress, comedian, author, and tv host. She is one of the few people to have won an Oscar, a Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award. Her voice is also iconic, and she has had many roles in films and series such as “Star Trek- the Next Generation”, “How Stella Got Her Groove Back”, “The Color Purple”, and “Sister Act”; while also VA’ing a character, “Shenzi the Hyena” in “The Lion King”. Due to her comedic and Voice acting background, she could also bring a hint of comedy and acting talents to the MLP series.

Other:

Moon Dreamers x Star Darlings– While not necessarily a My Little Pony related crossover, it is one with another one of Hasbro’s Intellectual Properties, “Moon Dreamers”. This would provide a good opportunity for Hasbro to dust off one of its older IP’s and revitalize a long dead toyline from the 80’s.

With Moon Dreamers, they are insanely similar to a more recent IP made by Disney, called “Star Darlings”. One IP’s characters works with dreams, while the other series’ characters works with wishes, and correct me if I’m wrong here, but those are both really identical professions. Especially where Disney is concerned, apparently. The lyrics of a classic song “when you wish upon a star” has verses that say the following: “A Dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep”. The only difference is that while Moon Dreamers work in the world of slumber to grant kids their wishes/ dreams, Star Darlings work in the waking world to do the same. And Hasbro is no stranger to collaborating with Disney.

MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC: FAME AND MISFORTUNE *OPINIONS*

A new episode written by M. A. Larson after almost 2 years of silence (last episode he co-wrote was ‘Rarity Investigates’ back in September 2015)!

Considering he wrote some of the best episodes from previous seasons, it was about time he came back into the MLP family!

Holy Celestia, and speaking of come backs, not only we had some old G3 ponies (Toola Roola and Cocunut Cream), but we finally see the Friendship Journal again! Last time we saw that was in ‘Twilight’s Kingdom - Part 1′.

BTW, how much time passed since that episode in the pony universe? I mean, judging by the state it was when Twilight showed it to Starlight at the very beginning, she either kept it in very poor conditions (in which case, shame on her) or a really lot of time passed between the end of Season 4 and (a little more than) the middle of Season 7.

Anyway, is it just me, or this whole episode seemed to be like some kind of social commentary on the actual state of the fandom? I mean, if you look on how the episode went on, it basically showed all the different kinds of groups and commentaries it goes on the net in the fandom (or in every fandom really): people disliking a character to its fullest, people liking a character to the point of idolizing it, people taking some episodes or things done by some character too much seriously, and so on.

Sure, the episode might also be seen as a sort of lesson about the fact that things that may have a meaning to someone may be completely misinterpreted by someone else or it can even have a totally different meaning to others, but I believe the social commentary theory is the closest to reality.

Quite frankly, I don’t know how to feel about this episode, maybe because even I happened to fall into some of those categories of people (or in this case, ponies) from time to time (overanalyzing things, not liking certain characters, looking at any little inconsistancy in the show....hell, I even pointed out the state the Friendship Journal was at the very beginning of this post ‘cause I wrote that part before watching the whole episode).

I believe, though, what we can all take from the episode, is that, no matter what, there’ll always be someone who will see the show and get the positve lessons it tries to  teach (in the case of the episode, with Toola Rooola and Cocunut Cream, which seemed to be the only ones to really appreciate the Friendship Journal and were positively inspired by it).

My Final Verdict: 7/10. The social commentary vibe the episode had might upset some people in the fandom, but, after a little thinking, I find it kinda clever, and that gives the episode what it needs to be better than a slightly over the average episode. Also, the song was really good, so that helped too.

Next Episode: A new episode starring Spike, but at least there will also be the return of both (Prince? King?) Thorax and Princess Ember, so that might help the episode to not completely suck (See? Still doing it, still judging an episode before it even aired....WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN???)

4.) A character you rarely talk about?

- I’m pretty quiet about my OCs in general, so an argument could be made for literally any of my characters. I mean, I avoid speaking of some of my earlier OCs, including a gender-fluid, car-loving robot, and a reasonably over-powered pokemon OC (though at least she had weaknesses, even if I wasn’t inclined to use them). I don’t know how often I talk about my Magical Matriarchy? They’re based on games I used to play with My Little Ponies (G3) as a kid, and it’s just this huge family set-up. There’s also a not-super-fleshed out idea about magical kids who find out they’re magic when their animal familiar appears to them. 

10.) Introduce an OC with a complicated design?

- I’m gonna’ be honest, I don’t think about characters’ designs too terribly much. But the Magical Matriarchy all have multicolored hair, so that’s a little over the top, and as far as drawing or thinking out the designs in one of my newer stories, which takes place in a medieval/fantasy style setting, there are way more (and less familiar) pieces than I usually think about. So, as an example of each:

- Raina, the queen of (unnamed magical land), has hair that is literally the colors of the rainbow, and probably wears blue, potentially complex dresses to events.

- and Lona, star of my newest story, in her casual wear probably has on at least undergarments, some kind of shirt, a vest-type thing over that, a belt, like, three pants layers probably, boots, and a cape just FULL of pockets.

- OK, honestly, I think the take-away here is that I don’t have any especially complicated designs.

17.) Any OC OTPs?

- The longest piece I’ve ever finished was about a robot/android girl and her human gf, and they were super cute together and fit each other perfectly. Lona and Leigh, my newest main characters, are also pretty great together, but I think I’m going to write the story without them explicitly getting together, and then I also have this fake power ranger team, and Tanya and Jade, my red and yellow rangers, are old friends and real cute together. They’re going to get together at the end of the (super hypothetical) first season. Neither one is straight (duh), but they’ve known each other for longer than they’ve known that, so neither one of them necessarily wants to put that friendship in jeopardy and/or they don’t want to assume the other would like them just ‘cause they like girls, but then, you know, life threatening scenarios are faced, and that’ll really bring some emotions forward.

27.) Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song?

- (You know me well, Flannel. This is a good question) Generally speaking a lot, if not most, of my characters are connected to a song, but I’m not sure how many were actually inspired by one. The only one I can think of for sure is Vivi. Vivi is from a story about six teenage girls who are chosen as champions for the greek goddesses (and are given powers/cool stuff to match) and the whole idea stemmed from a song, which led specifically to Vivi. 

- “Who is in your heart now” by Studio Killers gave me this idea of Aphrodite, goddess of love, singing the song in a nightclub, probably setting people up with magic and what-not, but given the design for Studio Killers’ lead singer, this particular mental image of Aphrodite was based off of that. From there, Vivi got the qualities of curvy Aphrodite as the goddess’s champion as the idea of the champions developed, and Aphrodite kept the singer persona. 

50.) Give me the good ol' OC talk here. Talk about anything you want

- So many options, so little time! Anything carries so much possibility! Here’s what I’ll do! I’ll tell you about the songs that go with different OCs! (This is gonna’ be great. But also long, so for everyone’s sake it’s under the cut.)

- OK, just for a little order, I’m not going to talk about every OC ever, but I will talk about my favorites with the strongest connections to particular songs, and why.

- For the robot/human gfs I mentioned earlier (the robot’s name is Hope and the human’s name is Dakota) there were a couple of songs that were super intwined with their story for me: Porter Robinson’s Sad Machine, and Riptide by Vance Joy. Dakota takes Hope under her wing when Hope’s mother/creator is arrested, and some major themes in Sad Machine work really well with that (basically the whole song being about a (maybe) robot girl + “she depends on you” thing is at the heart of both the song and the story, I feel), and in a similar vein Riptide overlays on Dakota’s perspective of the whole story, losing the sort of authority figure that Hope’s mother was to Dakota as well as the possibility of losing Hope, whom she quickly becomes very close to, ties in with the whole “running down to the riptide/left hand man” kind of ideas and the “wanna’ know if you’re gonna’ stay” (and the thematic similarities of “singing that song” with the multiple songs tied into the story, and “there’s this movie that I think you’d like” with Dakota showing Hope a bunch of movies for the first time.) (if any of this has piqued your interest, I posted the first couple chapters here. It’s not my best work, but it’s something.)

- And my newest awesome duo, Lona and Leigh, also have a couple songs that work really well, including King and Lionheart by Of Monsters and Men, and, oddly enough for a fantasy story, that 80s hit Everybody Wants to Rule the World, originally by Tears for Fears (but the first link is to the cover I’ve been using to keep the ol’ inspiration up. Sorry not sorry.) King and Lionheart works well because it works (to some extent) from both characters’ perspectives. Lona is actual royalty, so Leigh feels a need to protect/be there for her, but also Lona is a fighter, and Leigh really kind of isn’t, so she also feels the need to protect him, and yadda yadda yadda. Then both songs have similar lines that apply to the two of them: “there’s a room where the light won’t find you/holding hand while the walls come tumbling down/when they do I’ll be right behind you” in Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and “when the world comes to an end/I’ll be here to hold your hand” in King and Lionheart, that go with how much destruction each of their personal worlds have taken either before or during the story, and honestly my favorite thing about these two is that they’re there for each other, and that’s what I’m getting at. Also dealing with past horrors/trauma works well with King and Lionheart’s “howling ghosts, they reappear/and mountains that are stacked with fear.” The entire theme of Everybody Wants to Rule the World also works with the entire damn story, since it’s a royalty exiled type thing, so the villain takes over Lona’s kingdom, Lona’s gotta’ get it back, so on and so forth. Good songs. I like them very much.

- Some other honorable mentions include: Ke$ha’s Die Young for Vivi and Juno (Hera’s champion). Vivi is Juno’s first big, gay crush. It’s great. And Children of the Stars by The Orion Experience for my entire (fake) power ranger team. Their theme is constellations and pride flags and they’re all great. (I actually have a post about them here) 

- I think the takeaway here is that though I think I’m attaching songs to characters, they get more thoroughly stuck to a character or two (and also themes and plot points, but that’s a whole other thing and like 10 more songs.)
