I'm 99% ready for Samhain/Halloween.

The ancestor shrine is usually on a cubby shelf spot overlooking my PC. Jasper's ashes are on the shelf above it, giving them all a full view of my living room.

The little painted plate in front of the Cernunnos statue has Jasper's shed whiskers, and a few of Cacoa's. I made the altar mat last year, and used fussy cutting to get a full skull in each of thr squares.

A few years ago, I got this massive shove from my ancestors to paint this stool, which served as an altar for 20 or so years, this shade of green. They shut up when it was done. My family is a long line of proud farmers, so I guess that makes sense. The swatch is my family tartan. The cherry jam jar represents the fact a good chunk of my family is from Michigan. My grandma sends me a package if cherry stuff every Yuletide. Inside this jar are seeds for a vegetable garden. The necklace is a family heirloom.

As for the velvet baggy, it has a handheld mirror i use for various witchy things, and I keep it in there because of dust. Oh, and because reflective surfaces are uncomfortable for me. Been a thing since I was a young child, so I keep such things covered.

Oh, and the white candles are at different heights because one has wax in thr bottom of it, and I don't feel like digging it out. The chime candles (I buy them by the box for around $10) are such up as they are because they like to leave a mess under them. I need to do something similar for the others because they're also gonna make a mess.

Promises to Keep

Neither of us knew, could possibly know, they would be her last words to me. Amity said it more than once, and as we hugged fiercely, she pressed her face against my throat and whispered it one more time: "Promise you'll write." Even before I got the news, the words clung to me like spider webs, more even than the taste of her kisses, the smell of her skin.

It was just like her to make that promise impossible to fulfill.

I tried anyway. I spent hours composing emails, agonized over message windows. But she didn't say email or DM or chat. She said write. And all I could think about was all the other inboxes that would never be checked again, all the marketing and spam and the occasional sad message sent off into the void to never be read. I couldn't do it.

Strange as it seems now, I wasn't even thinking about her while I browsed a rack of postcards. But I saw one and before I could catch myself I thought, Amity would love this.

So I bought it. It took a few days, but eventually I sat down and lit a tea light and I wrote. In tiny, cramped writing, I told Amity about everything she'd missed. About how much I missed her. About how angry I was at her, and how I knew that wasn't fair, but I couldn't help it. She was leaving, but she wasn't supposed to leave.

I wrote over the address block. I wrote over the square where the stamp was supposed to go. My hand cramped and I kept going. Who even wrote anything by hand anymore? But I had so much to say, and I even wrote on the front of the postcard, and when I was finished, I held a corner of it over the tea light until it caught.

It seemed like such a good idea until I realized the fire was creeping toward my fingers and I had nowhere safe to drop the postcard. Cursing, I scrambled and grabbed a ceramic plate in the kitchen, dropping it just before I scorched myself. This was exactly the sort of thing Amity would want to know about.

Blinking away tears, I set the plate by the candle. I bent to blow out the little flame, then changed my mind. I'd lit the candle for Amity, it felt wrong to snuff it out before its time. I left the ashes to cool and the candle to burn out.

The next day, when I went to clean up my mess, I discovered a heart in the ashes, like someone had dragged a finger through them the same way someone might trace a picture in fog on a mirror.

Like Amity used to do.

I was thinking about her so much lately. Had I don't it without thinking while I stirred the ashes to see if they were cool? That had to be it.

Still, a few days later, I found myself lighting another tea light and writing again, this time on a regular piece of paper. I told her about how I tried to set myself on fire, and how hard it was that I couldn't just call her whenever I wanted. I had the plate waiting this time, and I sat there for hours while the candle burned down, staring at the ashes.

Nothing happened.

I should have stopped. Should have accepted it as a fluke, as a slip in my memory because I missed Amity so much. But I started carrying a little notebook, and whenever I had one of those moments–I have to tell Amity about this–I'd write it down. And at the end of the day or the week or the month, I'd take those notes and I'd burn them.

And as long as I walked away and let the candle burn down, when I came back, I'd find a message from her. Another heart, a smiley face. A word here or there. When I told her some particularly exciting news, the next day !!! greeted me.

During an especially rough patch when I told her maybe I should come visit her sooner rather than later, she answered, No rush.

I had questions for her. So many questions, but it seemed at best all she could send me were a few words. A bigger candle, an easier surface to mark, those seemed to give her more words, but not enough.

Still, one day I sat for a long time at my desk, staring at a candle with a blank piece of paper in front of me. Finally, I asked my most pressing question. Just one word: Why?

The next day, the answer waited. I promised, too.

A year was a long time. Habits changed, people rotated out of your life and maybe even things in your routine have changed yet when it came to the idea of giving a promise ring－ Peter thought it was almost too soon.

At first, he rehearsed in his bathroom mirror what he was going to say at dinner. He couldn't just go out on a whim with his explanation for this small ring that was a big deal.

"Y/N, we've had the best year together and..." His smile fell, "No, that's bad." He cut himself off and tried to think of something else.

He paced for a good hour before rushing down to his nearby subway with a bouquet of flowers in hand. Even the strong scents on the cart couldn't distract him from what he deeply wanted to say.

He thought, I want to be with you for a long time and...

"Nope, still bad. Kind of creepy. Jesus..." Peter muttered under his breath, completely nervous with only three more stops until he had to get off and face, what felt like, his not-so finest hour.

Even walking down the sidewalk, he uttered the same words but in different sentences. Peter felt like he was just spiraling by this point, the room spinning around him as he stayed still. It was only until he knocked on the door that he realized he should have written something down.

"Aw, hey, babe." You grinned, "You got me flowers on your birthday?" You jeered, still taking the beautiful arrangement.

He shrugged, "I appreciate you. What can I say." Peter jeered.

You cracked a small smile before pecking his cheek, "Always so thoughtful. That's what I love about you, Parker."

After putting the flowers in a nice vase with some water, the two of you headed to the restaurant where you had reservations. The whole time, Peter fiddled with the small box in his pocket. When you went to the bathroom, he moved it from his pants pocket to his nice jacket, then back to his pants pocket.

When you came back, you smiled at him, "Don't get mad at me."

"Why would I get mad?" He innocently asked.

Before you could defend yourself, a group of waiters exited the kitchen doors and one of them held a plate with a piece of chocolate cake with ice cream on the side. The single candle's warm light highlighted their happy faces as they sang Happy Birthday.

You smirked, and Peter chuckled as a pink tinted on his cheeks.

He loved you so much and this was just another instance where his love grew a bit more than he thought it could.

It was his first birthday he wasn't alone. Since everyone had forgotten him by his own request, this past year was a memorable one with you and he wouldn't change a thing about it. This was why he needed to prove that you meant so much to him with the gift of a promise ring.

But, he knew he didn't want to do it in front of anyone else so, the two of you headed toward Washington Square Park. The sunset was beautifully setting as you sat down on a bench, watching a few people pass by and kids run around the fountain.

"Time to open your present." You grinned, setting the festive bag on his lap.

"Let me guess... socks." He chuckled.

You playfully punched his shoulder before he pulled up the gift out of the bag. His smile turned up when he unwrapped a Star Wars mug with R2D2 as the design.

"And there's another surprise inside it." You added.

Peter reached inside, seeing a small box (just like the one he had in his back pocket).

He opened the top, and it was a ring, but there was a necklace laced through it. You didn't.

"Is it a-"

"I know, I know. But, before you say anything, I just think things are going really well. Like, really well and... I love you, Peter."

You thought your face was on fire if you didn't know how oddly embarrassed you felt about confessing your feelings through a birthday gift.

He chuckled, feeling more relaxed, "Funny you should say that."

You furrowed your eyebrows as you watched him reach into his back pocket before pulling out the same size box. At first, you were shocked, but the both of you ended up making a laugh about it.

You slowly opened it, seeing a thin, silver band with three of your birthstone gems along it. Your heart thumped against your chest, full of love and pure adoration.

"First flowers, now a promise ring? Do I have to keep reminding you that it's still your birthday." You giggled, a bit teary-eyed.

"I love you, Y/N." He said. It was all he wanted to say with the purest and sweetest smile.

“Alpha,” Bucky immediately is by your side when you enter your shared apartment. “How was your day? Did you get the promotion? I bet you did,” he whimpers as you ignore him.

You had a long and stressful day at work. All you want to do is have a bubble bath and cuddle with your omegas. It’s just, you need some alone time first.

“ALPHA!” Steve happily makes his way toward you to wrap you in a hug. He tries to bury his face in your neck to inhale your scent, but you step away to place your bag on the ground and remove your coat. “How was your day? Did you get the promotion?”

“I already asked our alpha how their day was,” the brunette complains. He whines as Steve had the chance to scent you first. Bucky was antsy to show you the new table he built for your dining room and now, it seems that you ignore him.

“It was a long day,” you step toward Bucky to pat his chest. “My boss said he’ll tell me about their decision at the end of the week. I have a good chance to get the promotion, though.”

“You’ll get it, Y/N,” Bucky tries to scent you again, but you turn to walk toward the bedroom. “Alpha…”

“I’ll be right back. We can talk later,” making your way inside the bedroom, you yawn. You’re just too tired. “Just give me a minute.”

“Oh-okay,” the brunette sighs. He walks back toward the kitchen to check on the food he prepared for dinner. “Dinner will be ready soon, alpha.”

“Alpha,” Steve whines low in his throat. He wanted to show you the new picture he drew of you and Bucky. Now he doesn’t know if you even want to see it.

“Fuck, that’s good,” you enjoy the warm water, and the scented candles you lit. Your omegas bought them for you. Closing your eyes, you moan.

The warm water relaxes your sore muscles, and you are sure, you’ll be in a better mood when you leave the bathroom.

“Do you think alpha will like the food?” Bucky looks at the plates he placed on the table. Steve is busy lighting the candles as Bucky tries to hide he’s unsure about his place in your relationship at the moment.

“She will love it, Buck. You know how hungry our alpha gets after a hard day at work,” Steve sighs deeply. “I just hope she will like the dessert I made.”

“She’ll love it,” nodding to himself Bucky tries to assure Steve, and himself, that you love them. That you only had a bad day…

“How’s the food?” Bucky watches you poke the food he cooked for hours with your fork. You don’t feel well but try to at least eat a few bites. You know Bucky cooked all day and went for a grocery run only for you.

“Very good,” forcing a smile on your lips, you look at Bucky. He looks sad, but you’re a little dizzy, and so tired. Tonight, you are an awful alpha, and you know it.

“Bucky made it with love, only for you,” Steve scoots a little closer to nuzzle his nose in your hair. He purrs low in his throat, as Bucky mirrors his behavior. The brunette buries his face in your neck to inhale your scent deeply.

“Okay, that is enough,” you grumble. It’s hard to focus when your omegas try to get your attention. They are extra needy lately, clingy even. “I need some me-time. The food was good but I need sleep and all…”

“Alpha,” Bucky whimpers. His lower lip wobbles as you get up from the chair and leave your omegas in the dining room.

“Alpha,” Steve sniffles. He had hoped you’ll praise him for the dessert he made. And now, you didn’t even try it. “Bucky…”

“Stevie,” they get up from their chairs to soothe each other. Your omegas hug and try to scent each other. It’s not the same as scenting you, but I’ll do…for now.

“What if she doesn’t love us anymore?” Steve whispers.

“What if she never loved us?” Bucky sniffles. “I-I can’t Steve. I can’t lose her too. What if alpha rejects us?”

“Maybe we were bad omegas?” the blonde whispers. “What if we are not good enough for alpha?”

Over the next few days, you pulled away from your omegas. You’re stressed as you didn’t get the promotion. On top of all, you still feel sick, and their constant attention overwhelms you.

In the past, most of the men you met never showed interest.

Being a female alpha is not easy. Being a plus-sized female alpha is even worse.

“Alpha?” Steve and Bucky whine in front of your door once again. You locked yourself into your office to work in silence. Now your omegas whine for your attention and you cannot focus.

“I need to work, omegas,” you rub your tired eyes. “I’ll be there for you when I got more time. Just let me work. Maybe next time I’ll get the promotion.”

You can’t see the sad look in your omegas' eyes as they look at each other. That night, you will sleep at your office, too tired to go back to your shared bedroom.

Your omegas whine and whimper while holding each other in their arms.

Slowly they lost hope. If you don’t want them anymore. Where shall they go?

Who will love them? Who will make them feel like they belong in this world that isn’t theirs any longer? Only clinging to each other just isn’t enough to them...

“What a shitty day,” you plop down onto your plush sofa, huffing as silence greets you this time. “Steve? Bucky?”

“We are here,” his voice barely above a whisper Bucky walks into the living room. “I…no, we cooked. If you want some food. We will be in our rooms if you need us.”

“Bucky?” you frown as Steve only pokes his head in. “Stevie?”

“Uh-what Bucky said. We don’t want to bug you, alpha,” Steve swallows thickly as he turns to follow Bucky. They agreed on giving you time and space to think about your bond.

“Bug me…” you whisper as you must watch your omegas walk away from you. Your heart aches as you can hear them whine low in their throats. “No…fuck…”

“Bucky? Steve?” you silently open the door to Steve’s room. When you moved in together, you decided to make sure that all of you have your own room. Now your omegas are cuddling on Steve’s bed and you feel left out. “Omegas?”

“Alpha?” their heads immediately snap upward to look at you. “Y/N…alpha…”

“Why are you not in our room? I know I got home late again. Are you mad at me?”

“We thought you don’t want us anymore,” Bucky sniffles. “Stevie and I thought we should give you space. If we are not enough, please tell us so.”

“Oh my god!” whining you look at your omegas. “I-I’m just not to used to being in the middle of attention. You’re so affectionate and I got a little overwhelmed.”

“Alpha,” your omegas get up from the bed to crowd you. Bucky whimpers next to you. He needs to touch and scent you. Steve is no better. He longingly looks at you, hoping you’ll invite them to your bedroom.

“Can we go to our room?” you softly ask. “I was a terrible alpha lately. I was stressed and didn’t feel well. Please forgive me.”

“Alpha,” Bucky immediately picks you up in bridal style to run toward the bedroom with you in his arms. “My alpha.”

“Hey…wait!” Steve chases after Bucky. He doesn’t want to miss the chance to touch and scent you too…

“Much better,” you lie in the middle of your bed, watching your omegas sleep peacefully next to you. Steve lies to your left, and Bucky to your right.

You did more than scenting and cuddling. Tonight, you let your omegas take over control and worship their alpha in any way.

Smiling you watch over them. You’re tired, but you don’t want to miss seeing your omegas so relaxed and sated. “Good night. I love you. Both of you…”

Happy Birthday, My Love

Summary: Everyone helps Levi prepare for your birthday!

Levi cringed a little when he saw his reflection in the mirror. It had been a year since the war ended. But he couldn’t seem to get used to his appearance. He was no stranger to scars. But the ones on his face were ugly reminders of the bloodshed from his past that he was desperately trying to forget.

Two hands made a splat sound on his head, making him flinch once again. Gabi’s reflection appeared behind his own, her eyes enlarged to twice their size as she furiously tried to set his hair with something called ‘hair gel’ that Marley manufactured. An alarmed Falco fruitlessly tried to slow her down, afraid that the stoic man would lose his temper at her. But Levi was cool as a cucumber, since today was a special day.

After spending a small eternity trying to tame the one stray lock of midnight hair that wouldn’t budge, Gabi finally gave a nod of approval to Levi’s new sleek hairstyle once it joined the rest of his strands being his ears. Falco then carefully helped him slip on the charcoal grey blazer and topped his head with a matching fedora, that was a gift from you when you first visited Marley. Levi couldn’t help but wonder how the two teens’ personalities were poles apart from each other.

The strange but fragrant perfume that Connie sprayed on his clothes made his eyes water. Jean assured that it wouldn’t make him go blind in his remaining eye. The sheer chaos inside his tea-shop was striking down the bars of his patience one by one; only the thought of seeing you soon keeping him sane.

The bell above the front door of the shop chimed when Armin and Annie walked in with a bouquet of fragrant red roses that they knew you would love, and handed them to the former captain. Armin’s cheery face always calmed Levi down, much like the thought of being in your company soon.

The couple was shortly followed by Onyankopon who entered holding a powder-blue box in his hands. That would be your favorite cake from the bakery down the street. He held it open before Levi, showcasing the words ‘Happy Birthday’ delicately piped on top of the decadent chocolate cake in vanilla icing. He nodded in approval, giving a gentle pat to his friend’s arm.

Levi was relieved. Everything was going just as he planned. Everyone showed up on time and fulfilled the duties he had meticulously delegated amongst them to make your birthday special. He had been eagerly waiting for this day for weeks, planning out each and every detail of how he wanted the evening to go. He couldn’t wait to see you. All this excitement was condensed into the smallest upward curve on his lips, barely noticeable to anyone who wasn’t paying attention.

Finally, Mikasa’s figure appeared hurrying down the stairs, ready to take the man to the woman he loved. Reiner and Pieck stayed back with the kids for they had been assigned the Herculean task of not letting Gabi and Falco burn the tea-shop down in Levi’s absence. Just as they were about to leave, Historia stepped before them to straighten up Levi’s bow tie. Everyone was beaming at him as he waved them goodbye.

Mikasa wheeled him through the busy streets of Marley’s market, where his gaze wandered from store to store in search of the perfect gift for you. A shiny moon stone necklace caught his eye. Its features were soft, and delicate, just like yours. What better gift for you than the stone that stands for all things serene, mirroring the effect of your presence in his life.

Now it was finally time to see you. Mikasa finally wheeled him over to the spot where he met you every weekend. She helped him spread out the red and white checkered blanket on the lush grass, and arranged the cake, and bouquet on it along with smoked salmon sandwiches and the flask of black tea that she packed for the day. She helped Levi sit down on it before leaving with the promise of returning in a couple of hours to pick him up.

He neatly organized the sandwich squares on a plate, and poured out two cups of steaming black tea, one for you and one for him. He then fished out a small pack of birthday candles that Connie harshly shoved inside his blazer’s pocket just before they left, and lit them over the cake. He finished setting up just as the sun began setting over the horizon.

“Ahh. Just in time. You know how much I love watching the sunset with you. Reminds me of the good old days. Well, just the old days.”, he smiled.

Levi gathered the roses that Armin and Annie so lovingly bought, and laid them before you. He then picked up picked up his cup of tea and clinked it against the weathering granite. He scrutinized the stone, brushing away any dust that was beginning to collect within the letters engraved on it. His gaze ran over your name etched into the stone.

‘Beloved Wife

Ours is a love without an end.’

He gingerly ran his fingers over the letters, a lone tear escaping his eyes shone like a gleaming pearl rolling down his cheek. Just then, a gust of wind blew the candles out, bringing the smile back to his face.

“Happy birthday, my love.”, he whispered.

TAEHEE WITH SUPERM

baekhyun baekhee

there was this tension at the start. you wouldn’t notice it at first glance but when you really pay attention to how the both of them act around each other ,,, you’ll just wonder how they are off-cam.

taehee mentioned during wgu era baekhyun was one of her role models when it came to the entertainment industry ,, so some fans wondered maybe there was still this senior-junior relationship between them while the rest were getting close with her.

but baekhyun hates awkward. luckily, they were roommates when they came to the states for their debut.

he figured he could get closer to taehee by making her laugh a lot, and he succeeded !!! it was easy since they basically shared the same humor.

he also took her out to eat when they came back to korea ,, discovered her love for playing video games and that they had a lot more in common

taehee enjoys playing hard to get when it comes to baekhyun.

(superm midterm exam ep. 1) “but you said i was your role model!!!” “when it came to being funny, yes...?” “W H A T !!!!”

as much as possible, baekhyun wants taehee to show off or be given attention to. whether that came to lines on the script or bragging about what she can do, not only does he do this as a leader but as someone who wants to show that taehee is as capable as them.

(200913 vlive) taehee comes up to the camera and nervously laughs, “yah, how do i do this?!” she turns around to face the rest of the boys who have challenged her into doing taemin’s killing part in the ‘criminal’ mv. “just do it like you would usually do!” baekhyun encourages cheerfully. “don’t act shy! you know you can do it.”

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-2) "whoever competes with baekhyun hyung is likely to lose,” kai says, watching as the eldest prep himself for the game. hearing this, taehee instantly shot up from her seat and moved to the red square opposite of baekhyun. though determined, she lets out a casual remark, “i’ll fight him,” and the others laugh.

ever since the first game of the night, baekhyun and taehee teased each other back and forth, trying to get the other off their game. the scoreboard between the two of them was currently 2:1, with taehee having won the paper cup game and the team game with mark and the others. baekhyun glances to the side nervously, until an idea pops in his head.

he lights up her candle shortly and hands it to her, “here.” taehee accepts the candle without protest as she sat down, until kai says, “he gave you the weaker candle.” her head snaps up to see baekhyun dead set on making his flame stronger than hers, his fierce expression making all of them crack up. “oppa!” taehee complains but she laughs. “yah, baekhyun hyung, that’s unfair!” taeyong backs the maknae up, well aware of the feeling of losing quickly to their leader. “jeon taehee, you better win this,” taeyong tells her, his tone was laced with seriousness yet his pout said otherwise. “avenge me,” and taehee gives him a salute and a wink in return.

not sooner than later, their match begins. their hot battle keeping the members on their toes, they too were aware of their rivalry from earlier. “jeon taehee, let’s go!” mark cheers. although taehee could barely see with the water getting in her eyes and hair, she moved her candle in all directions in defense to her opponent’s shooting (at this point, taehee figured baekhyun was just trying to shoot at her face but she’s not complaining... that much). with a sharp aim, taehee was able to distinguish baekhyun’s candle in just less than a minute.

“i think water went into my nose,” taehee giggles as she lowers her candle down, removing any excess water from her eyes once her other hand was free. meanwhile baekhyun looked shell-shocked, taemin and the others laughing more at the result. “hyung, you looked like you won!” kai teases him further. “i won,” baekhyun jokingly seethes, “I WON!”

taehee laughs, “알았어, loser.” the team breaks off into a louder fit while baekhyun smiles in disbelief. taehee sure was different.

despite both of them being the most quiet during the first meeting, the both of them got closer the quickest !!!!

first day they were like ‘hi hello annyeong’. next day, they’re sharing recipes, having inside jokes, mini-handshake (courtesy of taehee), play-fighting, making funny faces at each other whenever they make eye contact during dance practices ....

dance prodigies !!! amazing, talented, remarkable dance prodigies !!! aces at everything !!!! their stage presence !!!!

(superm reveal which member has the best hair and who is the funniest of the group | billboard) “these two,” taeyong gestures to taehee and to taemin, “how do i say this? they look immoral on stage.” the others chuckle at his bluntness, “i think that would be the best term for it.”

taehee finds taemin very cute and would willingly watch his aegyo.

(’one’ dance practice behind) “hyung, you are honestly so cute,” taehee centers the camera to taemin, “times like these, i wish you were my younger brother.” he laughs.

meanwhile, taemin finds himself laughing at taehee’s antics most of the time (totally didn’t expect the chaotic energy coming from this one).

taehee always manages to find her place next to taemin somehow, and when taemin turns to find out she was beside him this whole time, he’d smile at her and pat the top of her head.

taemin became one of taehee’s comfort people !!!! from having a senior-junior relationship to being one of taehee’s most trusted friends, they grew really close after time and related well with each other.

iconic moment (’one’ dance practice behind) “woah, oppa you look really pretty from this angle,” taehee tilts the camera to the sides until taemin starts doing aegyo, causing laughter to bubble from the girl. “hey! hyung, why are you seriously so cute?”

taemin recalls the other day he and taehee hung out together, and he sits up straight before telling the story. “you know what taehee did the other day?” his lips break into a wide smile, his tone piquing interest from ten and mark. “what did she say?” mark said.

“she said, ‘hyung, it think it would be nice if you were my dongsaeng.’ and i haven’t said anything yet and she said, ‘yaja time? start. taeminnie, what do you want to do?’”

mark and ten burst out laughing, taehee feigns ignorance. “what? when was that? i don’t remember that.”

taemin chuckles, “taehee is really so precious.”

kai was a bit awkward with taehee too at first.

he was very cautious around her, even if it was just standing close to her during photoshoots.

kai, keeping his distance: “is this okay?”

director: “closer!!!!”

kai: fuck

but now he teases the hell out of her you’d probably mistake them for being friends for a long time.

(superm on knowing bros) “baekhyun hyung? baekhyun . hyung???? you seriously find him the most attractive out of all of us?????” “BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER!!!!!!” “YOU NEED TO GET YOUR EYES CHECKED THEN”

he makes fun of her accent (jokingly ofc) but also loves it.

“how do you say ‘귤’ in english?” “tangerine” “ahh you are so cute !!!!!!”

also teases her by wrapping his arm around her shoulders and proceeding to shake her aggressively.

before superm, kai already found taehee super cool .... he was probably intimidated by her.

when kai is not teasing taehee, they’re both teasing mark.

in the end, there is an i-will-tease-the-heck-out-of-you-until-your-ears-turn-red kai and a im-her-father-no-one-touch-her kai

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-1) “i feel like taehee would get this though,” baekhyun says and the others agree with him, taehee’s agile. they all watch as she puts her hands on each side of the toaster, preparing herself by biting on thin air. “okay, i’ll start now!”

using her left thumb, she pushed the press handle down and released. but instead of catching the piece of bread, she caught her tongue in between her teeth. she immediately pulled back and brought her hands to her mouth, walking away the pain as the members pointed out she wasn’t able to succeed. kai was the first to notice her, “what’s wrong, taehee?”

“i bit my tongue and it hurts so much,” she winces. kai cackles, “바보! taehee!”

taehee grumbles at kai’s remark as she sat beside him. the latter pulls her close by the shoulder and ruffles her hair, laughing as she poked her cheek. “you want to eat bread?” kai smiles at her, already reaching out for the plate of extras.

“i’m gonna eat bread.”

taeyong yonghee

taehee’s all up for the ‘taeyong babie’ agenda since it’s so cute to see the older members tease and baby taeyong.

knowing that baekhyun likes to poke the fun out of these two, taeyong and taehee would team up against him.

(superm mtopia ep. 1) “taehee, let’s make baekhyun hyung out,” taeyong tells her, taehee mirroring the determined look on his face. “we got this.”

taeyong hypes taehee up like a stage dad or something lol he’d go like, “WOOOO!!! THAT’S MY BABY,” and taehee would find herself smiling before resuming to whatever she was doing.

taehee had to stop herself from clowning taeyong when they went surfing for mtopia and instead gave him tips and all. of course, she tries to bite her lip from laughing while doing so.

(mtopia ep. 3) taehee goes to sit beside a nervous taeyong on the dock as he waits for his turn. chuckling, she says, “hyung, just pace yourself, alright? don’t rush—“ but then kai cuts her off, also noticing the scared look on the rapper’s expression, “you won’t die anyways.” taehee whips her head back to glare at kai, though it was clear she was trying to hold in her laughs. “HEY!”

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 2) taehee was the first to pick out of the eight of them. whether she’ll start shedding tears or not, her fate relies on the fifth sushi she had chosen, hoping that it wasn’t the one with wasabi. “it’s the one. she lost it,” baekhyun says as he tries to throw taehee off guard. “it’s not,” she replies, though her eyes said otherwise.

once she grabs the piece of sushi in between her chopsticks, she takes a tentative glance towards the staff and keeps her eyes on them as she took it in whole. taehee knew she was doomed on the first chew, the spiciness of the paste burns her tongue and brings tears to her face. she laughs dryly as a few tears slipped down her face and sniffs, “i never knew wasabi was this spicy.” the boys behind her laugh at the crack in her voice, the staff handing her a tissue as she staggered back to her place beside taeyong who immediately wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. “taehee can’t handle spicy foods well,” taeyong chuckles, “are you okay?”

“yeah, my mouth just feels like it’s burning!,” taehee exclaims, her wild gestures adding humor to her expression. taeyong lets out a hearty laugh as he gave her water, “have this.” he watches her down the water in one go, though there were still tears in her eyes, “taehee, you are too cute. i’m serious.” taehee laughs as she wiped her eyes, and they continue with the game.

they are literal geniuses !!!! but... they have their moments.

(200930 live) “he’s the main character in ‘aladdin’, right?,” and with knowing smiles, the others nod at ten’s question. clueless, ten decides to ask more, “what was his name? a whole new world~” and baekhyun and mark tell him he’s right, but ten has literally no clue. chuckling at his cuteness, taehee speaks up, “hyung! he’s the main character in ‘aladdin’! aladdin!” mark and kai laugh loudly at her hint, she was already giving him an answer. kai notices that, like ten, taehee hadn’t got her question correct yet with all the obvious hints they were giving her, and so he laughs harder. “taehee! don’t act like you’ve got you’re question correct!,” the said girl shrugs exaggeratedly, bringing her hands up in the air as if to question the heavens. “you told me he was powerful! so is he like a superhero or something? thor?,” she exclaims, and the others began laughing at her guess, the maknae unaware of the large ‘LEE SOOMAN’ on her cap. “who is it?!”

their banter that goes back and forth are one of the things that make the members’ stomachs hurt from laughing.

(superm: ready to fly in la) “the three maknaes are my babies,” ten tells the camera, tilting his head to look taehee into the eye before continuing, “but then you’d be my least favorite.”

taehee knows that ten secretly has her as the favorite loves her too, so she always makes it a point to call him cute or something to throw him off guard.

iconic moment (superm as we wish ep. 1) it was very obvious how taehee felt about ten’s drama. she tried to hold back her smiles but ten was just too cute, it made her heart run in circles. when his drama ended, the boys praised ten’s performance, but baekhyun noticed how much taehee liked it. he calls her out, “taehee-ssi, you seem to like this very much.”

a surprised ‘really?’ comes from ten while taehee spoke. “ten oppa just looked so.... natural while doing it,” taehee says, her words and expressions assuring ten he really did a great job. “my heart is doing flips right now?”

the boys laughed, “did you fall for him?” and before taehee got to answer their leader’s question, ten said, “i’ll date you based on your performance.”

“i didn’t even say yes!”

lucas luhee

lucas took one look at him, mark, and taehee and just went, “you know if someone took a look at us, they’d think taehee was the oldest.” (taehee had punched him on the shoulder while mark hit the table, laughing)

but then he clarified that it was just because taehee had this motherly aura around her and that she takes care of him and mark really well.

from then on, lucas would accidentally call taehee ‘noona’; sometimes, he would call her that intentionally when asking for the snacks that were kept in her bag, or teasing her.

(superm as we wish ep. 2) “unnie,” they hear taehee say from the monitor. while the boys accompanied each other in different work environments, taehee went alone to a little café to try out the experience herself. she found herself well acquainted with one of the staff members that had showed her around, and she found herself asking, “how old are you?” the boys erupted into choruses of ‘ooh’s’ when they heard her, baekhyun jokingly asking if she was there to find a date. taehee shakes her head shyly, but she busts out laughing when lucas shouts, “NOONA, FIGHTING!”

we see more of taehee being a baby with lucas in superm :(

he’d give her piggyback rides or ask her if she’s eaten yet, and if she says no, lucas would be like, “come on, man! the last time i saw you eat was breakfast but you only ate a sandwich. wait for me here, i’ll get you a plate.”

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-2) as mark and kai shoot each other’s candles out with their water guns, taehee leans into lucas’ side as she laughs with her head buried into his shoulder. it was an endearing sight to see them comparing hand sizes, both of their eyes widening at the size difference. “you’re hand is so small!,” lucas says. “well, duh. your hand is like the size of my face!”

mark markhee

taehee knows so well that superm mark lee is a different breed

(the story of ‘jopping’) “you look so handsome these days,” taehee said to mark as she took in his appearance, causing the latter to become shy and flustered, “really?”

but mark caught onto it this year and ‘complained’ that taehee had favoritism .... to superm mark

“you’re cute in 127 and dream!!!! you’re different here, what’s wrong with that?”

taehee LOVED ‘talk about’. she posted a video of her jamming to it in her manager’s car on twitter.

in mtopia, taehee literally took a glance at mark’s quiz in the first episode and said, “ahh you should get this one the first try, it’s easy.” cue a pouty mark

during games, mark knows taehee in and out so it comes off as an advantage to him and a disadvantage to her.

(mtopia ep. 6) “it’s taehee. taehee is the liar.”

mark and taehee are roommates most of the time and their nightly routines just consist of putting face masks on each other and listening to music while waiting!

iconic moment (mtopia ep. 11-2) “sleepover!!!!,” taehee says excitedly as she sat on the bed with mark. she had just finished brushing her teeth while mark brought out facemasks from his bag. “you wanna put them on each other?,” mark asks, tearing one of the packets open already.

he turns his head to his right and giggles. taehee had her bangs tied up in a short ponytail, her eyebrows arched in a cheery smile. “you look like 뚱이!,” mark laughs, “dude, seriously. you’re so cute.”

“whatever, just put it on,” taehee rolls her eyes playfully as she hit mark’s shoulder. she closes her eyes but hears mark chuckle again. opening only her left eye, she says, “what’s wrong?”

“you’re really cute,” mark repeats, both of taehee’s eyes now wide open at his compliment. she goes to say something but chooses against it, closing her eyes back again when mark begins putting the mask on her face.

Map of Zuko's cabin

[A pencil sketch of Zuko's cabin, as seen from above, with labelled items. So when I mentioned sketching a map of Zuko's cabin so I could work out how to frame this picture, @lynzine wanted to see the map. Well, that map was in no state to view, so I've drawn up and labelled a neater, clearer copy.

Incredibly long and detailed explanation and highlighting of various oddities follows.

I've used screenshots from Episode 1:02 The Avatar Returns, Episode 1:04 The Warriors of Kyoshi, and Episode 1:13 The Blue Spirit in putting together this map. There are some differences; most notably, in The Blue Spirit Zuko's bed is centred on the starboard wall, directly under the large banner, and the additional banner in the aft starboard corner appears to be missing.

I labelled Zuko's bed as 'pallet and mattress', because in this shot (Aang and Zuko facing off in The Avatar Returns):

it looks like the mattress is on a thin base of some kind. But when Aang blows the mattress into the air to hit Zuko:

it's plain that there is actually nothing under it but the coir mat. There's no bunk, frame, lip, or fastening to hold it in place, which seems odd given that this is a seafaring vessel – which does have bunks in another room Aang looks into:

So why not in Zuko's? I can imagine that mattress really slipping about in a storm, even with the rug underneath it. (Similarly, all those clay jars in the corners of the cabin, which don't seem to be fastened to the floor or enclosed in frames, seem rather hazardous.)

However, it being loose means that it's feasible for Zuko to have moved it (or for it to have slid) to directly under the Fire Nation banner in The Blue Spirit:

There's also no sign in The Blue Spirit of the grey banner with the central red band that hangs above the bed in The Avatar Returns. I wonder whether it might be there temporarily to help retain a little extra heat by the bed when they're in the cold South Pole. Though I'd have thought that, since the mattress can be moved easily, Zuko would have moved it away from the aft wall, which is clearly an external wall and will be colder than the centre of the room.

Zuko's cabin has at least two external walls, port and aft:

This shot (above) from The Avatar Returns shows the ship from the outside. The vessel is moving from right to left across the screen, which means we're looking at the port side. A window halfway up the high tower is lit in orange – this is from Zuko's firebending as he fights Aang, so this is the window in Zuko's cabin. It's noticeably off-centre and located towards the aft of the ship, but from the inside it's clear that the window is centred on the wall of the room. The remaining space forward is taken up with a corridor which the cabin door lets onto.

(I want to also point out here that Zuko's room being so high up must, again, make it truly awful to be in during a storm or high seas. It's a good job Zuko never seems to suffer from sea-sickness.)

The starboard wall of Zuko's cabin abuts either a staircase or another cabin – I'm not sure which – it depends on how wide that tower actually is. But note that, in The Avatar Returns, Aang is crossing the screen from right to left both when he opens Iroh's door and when he passes Zuko's open door (and doubles back when he spots his staff). This suggests that (a) he's going from one to the other and (b) there is somewhere past Zuko's cabin worth going to. So I'm guessing Iroh's cabin is next to Zuko's, and at the end of the corridor there's a ladder or very steep stair, mirroring one that must also exist where Aang came from.

(Although against that, the lighting level behind Aang is very different when he opens Iroh's door from when he opens Zuko's door, suggesting that there's a window on the corridor giving on to Iroh's room but not in the corridor by Zuko's room.)

There seems to be a worrying lack of storage space. There is one small, low cupboard (to the left as you enter the door), one wide shallow drawer (in the writing desk under the dao), and the aforementioned jars and bowls, none of which have any visible contents (and I'm not sure what they could contain in any case). There's no sea-chest, trunk, or wardrobe. Does Zuko have a separate dressing-room/armoury? (No; when he's helped into his armour near the start of The Avatar Returns, that's happening in his cabin.) Where does he put his clothes when he goes to bed; does he hang them on the floor?

There are four long narrow red and black banners, all of the same design, two on either side of the door and two on either side of the mounted dual dao. Aang wraps Zuko up in one of these (the one to the left of the door) in The Avatar Returns, and Zuko burns it away completely to escape from it. But looking at the shots of the cabin in The Blue Spirit and The Waterbending Master, none is missing, so it looks like Zuko got it replaced.

Another thing I can't work out is how the heating and lighting system works. There are glowing squares in a line on the floor forward, including one right in front of the door:

I assume these are meant to be heating plates or vents, because I can't think why else you'd have a row of glowing squares in your floor. One would have thought it would be most efficient to run the heating as a hot water system, but these are definitely panels glowing reddish-pink, the same sort of colour as the lights on the port and starboard walls. I have no idea what is going on with either.

They could be piping gas or petroleum round the ship and burning it locally for light and heat (the lamps are attached to piping), but for heating that's less efficient than burning it in one place (the engine) and them moving the heat around. In any case, if they're using gas or oil for heat and light then surely they'd use it for the engine too, and the smoke would be cleaner.

Unless they are electric lights/heat panels? The glow in the floor panels does look rather like a heating element. But that seems rather inefficient too, compared to using the engine to run a central heating system, and there's no sign of electricity in use in the rest of the Fire Nation, not even the Palace.

Finally, the ceiling has large convex cornices down the fore and aft sides, which I assume contain beams for structural stability. There's a large grated vent in the ceiling, which implies a gap between the ceiling and the floor of the level above.

So that's what I've been able to work out about the layout of Zuko's room and its position on the ship. If anyone can shed any light on the areas I'm not sure of, please feel free!
