i think he's definitely a part of splinter's backstory (idk he was openly queer in the 80s so im sure SOMETHING insane happened) but i havent really found any way to adequately involve him. ive toyed with the idea of the boys being adopted, maybe? which probably meant draxum would be not good in this au if that was the case, idk. im a little iffy on it. that might just be something that doesn't actually need explaining very deeply.

lou jitsu wasnt a thing here for the sake of hammering in the theme of poverty, HOWEVER i think splinter being REALLY deep in older queer performance culture is a fun equivalent (lmfao tfw its a drag persona), and it gives him a reason to be so cut off from his family. there's no deep hamato legacy to worry about, but he comes from a time where being queer just meant the possibility of being disowned and that's definitely what happened with him (piebald is the only family member that keeps in touch, distant cousin). if anything draxum is definitely an ex of some kind LOL splinter's got the most insane lore still here
