QUICK OVERVIEW.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa which is where he lived for all of his childhood until just shy of his 14th birthday. He always thought his parents had an idealistic marriage, until the last image of his father was through a rearview mirror after his mother had discovered his longstanding infidelity.

After a brief few months of staying with family friends, it was decided for him that he would move back to his mother’s hometown with her -- Iron River, Georgia.

It wasn’t an easy move for him, made more tumultuous by grappling with the detriments of his parents divorce that he never saw coming. That sense of being blindsided stuck with him throughout the rest of his adolescence and became something he resolved to never wanting to experience again.

His mother’s aunts often called him nosy, too much for his own good according to them, but he saw it more as being thorough. Determination isn’t in short supply for him, and after muddling through his 20s with an ever switching career path it finally clicked into place for him what he should be doing. Being a private investigator wasn’t his first choice of work, but it’s what he’s best at, even if he’s learned 10 times over it’s a thankless job.

Despite the success he’s garnered for himself with an impressive track record in his work, it’s not without its downsides. He’s burned bridges in town and scorned people who’s dirty secrets he’s brought to light at the behest of their scorned loved ones and it’s gotten him in a fair number of scrapes.

PERSONALITY.

BONUS ROUND.

has been in and out of town since college because he couldn’t really settle on where the hell he wanted to be, but decided to make it his permanent home (for like the 15th time) 5 years ago and has been buzzing around since.

lives downtown now but as a teen he lived in the mines with his mother, who is still residing there. chances are, if anyone has ever left a note on your car for blocking her driveway, brought down the vibe at a street party by being overly judgemental or called the cops on you for a noise complaint, it was most likely elizabeth “karen” hall.

he has 2 great aunts who also live in the mines and have done for their whole life. world renowned gossips, will talk about anyone and their scandals all the while tutting at oakley for how he makes ends meet. he adores them. they’re the worst.

has a snake tattoo wrapping around his left forearm because its a moniker he’s gotten thrown his way more than once when he’s exposed a cheating partner and he thinks its funny. ref here and here.

has mostly lost his south african accent after so long stateside, but it does creep in at times inadvertently.
