"If you're here to kill me, why don't you just get on with it?" She could have initiated the fight herself, approaching the wraith-king without difficulty; at the very least it would have given her some satisfaction, to sink her daggers in his throat. Katarina breathes hard, disheveled from battling enemies that refused to stay dead (even in Noxus they heard the stories of the Ruined King; yet her mind struggles to accept the reality of it — at most, that was supposed to be history turned legend, a tale made grand throughout the years, not to withstand and resurge now).
In truth, she is tired. There is this odd feeling, an unwillingness to fight (when had she ever hesitated before a foe, regardless of how dangerous?). But does it matter, when her country falls so easily at his assault? She has nothing but Noxus; hadn't had in years. Family had never given her anything but scorn, looked down at her as disappointment, disregarded her entirely. Even the ones she insisted on loving, even the brother that did not share her blood, had not hesitated to turn against her after a mere command. What does she have without her homeland as purpose?
(It isn't entirely true, part of her argues stubbornly; the rest of them, maybe, but Talon had no more choice than he did. The choice they had was to not let it get in the way; and they had. How many times had he shown concern, urged her to follow father's teachings for her own safety? A more alarming thought — she doesn't know where he is, and there is no way she can find out when that thing is right in front of her. He can make it, though. Maybe he'd finally be proven wrong by outliving her due to caution.)
Her strong will has ever been judged as flaw; it is the only thing, in this moment, that keeps her still in fighting stance, daggers in her hand, poised to strike. Her grip becomes firmer as some clarity seems to return to her. Talon will make it, Noxus isn't yet completely lost — and she would rather die fighting for it than wallowing in self-pity over not being loved enough. "It's already taking too damn long, ghost."
