Literally! Bella's just trying to live her life, adjust to a new school after moving to be with her dad, and this fucking guy! Is just all over the place!

Bella has far more patience than I could muster. And then putting up with him for the rest of her life ?? Well. If I got vampirism out of it, maybe. But I feel like there's easier, less infuriating ways. Hitting up Alice or something--maybe Emmett.

So I had a different post up about the miraculous movie and how it wasn't perfect but - as someone who liked the series back when it was just Ladybug and Chat Noir against the world, and sorta naturally dropped it when the show started to introduce more heroes just bc it wasn't my thing - it felt nice and it gave me closure.

I was just gonna rewrite it in a way I liked better, but Jesus, whatever minor desire to pick the show back up again was very quickly snuffed out by how negative the a browse through the fandom tags felt. It's like people who like the movie are rubbing it in with a sort of arrogance, and the people who don't are almost gatekeepy with how "it's not the show" and how inferior it is bc of that. And I feel like wanting to talk about that instead.

Like. There are actual criticisms and praise going around but it gets lost in a sea of salt. It's kinda scary.

Personally, I liked it. It had some very cheesy lines, a couple scene transitions could have been better, What Have They Done To My Son, Plagg, and Adrienette's dynamic would have benefitted from a couple extra scenes (just a few tweaks showing him a little embarrassed or staring a little longer than usual in the Baddie Of The Day Montage(tm) would fix it, since I think they do a decent job of setting Marinette as special to Adrien given she's the only person we see him open up to about his mom, when we know he and Nino are friends and Nino already stated to always be there for him), to make the turning the ball invitation down + reveal hit harder, but overall it was fun. It was different.

What I truly cannot understand how this isn't Miraculous or how it doesn't really have a story. Sure, it's not The Series but in movie format, including the characterizations (they ARE different characters), but?? I feel like the core of who they are, or who they were back when the show began, still remains. Marinette still struggles with self confidence (which is in line with her season 1 self), and I particularly love how you can see how she HAS that spice bubbling underneath the surface, she just needed a push to embrace it and grow more confident (very Origins of her). Adrien is still closed off and quiet, and I love the implication that it was each other that gave them the push they needed to open up and be stronger and more social. I love how it was still Adrien's kindness that made Marinette fall for him, and Ladybug's bravery and selflessness that caught Chat Noir's eye.

Marinette is still clumsy and a little over excited, which we see in the first music, it just has a sense of WONDER to it instead of a frazzled energy like in the show, lol, poor baby. Adrien is still flirty and punny, he's still closed off, except show Adrien is trying to put up a brave face about it and trying to move on, and movie Adrien has lived with grief for longer and developed different coping mechanisms in regards to it. They're both very interesting in their own right, and I think the timing of Emilie's loss really explains the changes in him- movie Adrien is just past the meek attempts to be happy that show Adrien is still trying to do. He lost his mom and lived with an absent father for much longer than his show counterpart and it SHOWS. It's a different flavor of Adrien, but I think it's a neat choice, to have LB be the reason why he chose to open up. Show Adrien was interesting bc he chose to stand up to his dad in order to go to school, but he still felt alienated from his peers. The movie just makes that separation clearer but lets Adrien grow and hang out with his friends* and create actual bonds with them thanks to having first created a bond with Ladybug. It's a cool take on it.

I also really like what they did with Hawkmoth, though I don't think I can compare it to the show bc back when I watched it Gabriel was more or less just the absent father, mustache twirling villain that he was. This is where that * is inserted, I think the biggest change is that show Gabriel was more controlling of his son's life, and more demanding. Movie Gabriel straight up "lets" Adrien go missing for a whole night and only tries to talk to him the day after. He doesn't seem to mind Adrien spending time with his friends. He doesn't micromanage his son, though we still see hints of that control in how he talks about his designs, so its there, just a little hidden, that pride and arrogance. Again, it's a different flavor of Gabriel, but it works within the characterization of the movie and what they wanted for his character. Reminds me a bit of the Gabriel that wasn't willing to hurt Adrien (which apparently is an early series thing only, rip lmao) but was willing to go all out on Ladybug and Chat Noir.

So... yea. Maybe I'm just out of touch with the fandom and the show. Maybe it's because the characters have grown in ways I simply don't know bc I lost interest, and the modern MLB fandom understandably attaches those changes to the characters and wants to see it represented, which is valid. But tbh? I still love early MLB - not bc the "writing was better" or bc of Astruc v Zag shenanigans (are those still going? oh the war flashbacks) - just bc I vibed with the concept more. I love the show versions of these characters. And I think the movie is a different spin on them, but I think it does them justice. It has flaws, but the show also did, and I loved it anyway.

Speaking of just what I watched back then... I still think nothing in the movie tops the Umbrella Scene(tm), but I love that Ladynoir got a cute equivalent in the sparring one. I love the banter in both. I love the Adrienette moments in the show and I love how the movie expands on the inconditional trust between Chat and Ladybug, on how they're partners and always there for each other. I love Tikki in both. Show Plagg is my baby. I love what they did with Hawkmoth in both (movie and s1/some of s2). Master Fu as a cooky old man is hilarious. The cringe somehow got cringier in the movie. I think it's funny that movie Adrien gets to have his own "oh my god the second hand embarrassment, I want to cry" to balance out show Marinette lol. I love Chat still simping for LB and I love the cute little romance scenes, shipping fodder moments were always one of the strengths of the show, and we have it here in spades, so good for me.

It's just... as I said, it's different, but to me it's a love letter to the MLB that captivated me for years. It does its own thing, but I think I'm just gonna make a few tweaks in my head, mash Origins with the first half of the movie, then watch season 1 and a few select season 2 episodes, then go back to the movie to finish it up. I actually think that they complement each other quite well, even with the characterization changes, because, for example, the early seasons compensate for the movie's lack of Adrienette, while the show expands on the ladynoir side. If you use both, then the movie manages to effectively reverse the love square, allow Mari to grow past her awkward self, deal with the bits of insecurity in her that we still see sprinkled across the series, allow Adrien to stand up to and face his father, and give me a satisfying conclusion to the Hawkmoth plot and a cute little reveal.

I could go on over more talked about topics like the music (its fine. Christina inserts a certain breathlesness to Marinette that you feel Lou is trying to capture but she just can't. I got used to it tho, and Lou's voice is lovely) or the animation (gorgeous), like I did in the original version of this post, but to me what mattered most was the... For lack of a better word, the vibe of the movie. To me, it felt like a little time capsule bc it really embodies everything the fandom liked about the show during season 1 and its hiatus. I can't give it an objective score bc I think my 8.5/10 feels very biased, but I loved the nostalgia trip. I loved getting that closure. I'm still gonna go off and enjoy parts of both the show and the movie, because something something stronger together might just apply to them as well :)

Sometimes, trying to deny the reality of this can be very hard for anyone.

You were completely different from her. Yet, you somehow add some kind of spark or flame that burns in Byakuya's soul.  He couldn't understand it.  You were loud, too obnoxious, and extremely opinionated which were all the things Byakuya loathed. But when you are passionate, fierce, and confident with yourself those were the parts where you shined the most. The realization that he first liked you dawned on him was when you first saved him. Your fighting was fierce yet elegant, the power, the fiery in your eyes when you defeated the enemy was perfect. But the touch when you gave him was so gentle and nurturing. He couldn't deny that he wanted you to keep caressing him until you opened your mouth.

"Wow, you really got your ass handed to you, idiot."

There it was. Your talking always killed the mood, reminding me how truly unbearable you really can be.

"You don't look so good either..."

You grinned, followed by a boisterous laugh, "True but at least I'm still standing. I checked and it looks like you have a few broken bones on your arm and left leg, other than that, just a few scrapes and bruises. You're lucky that guy didn't fuck you up even more. Good thing your princess is here to save you huh?" Still, even with the pain he was in he still couldn't help but roll his eyes at you.

"Even in battle, you're still as irritating as the day I first met you."

You giggled at him, true, but you knew right from the beginning that he had some kind of interest in you. Rather it's your good qualities or your bad ones.

"Come on, let me help you up, I'll take you to the infirmary."

A week later Byakuya couldn't help but think back on the day when you saved his life, it was becoming too distracting. What's even worse was that he had to take everything easy since he was healing.  Even Renji himself could tell something was wrong with him, it was like he was always daydreaming about something. Everyone knew you had affected Byakuya in a certain way, whether it was in a negative or a positive way. It was still entertaining for everyone to see.

It was quite clear that you felt the same way when you appeared at Byakuya's hospital room with a bunch of flowers and a cute kawaii bunny stuffed animal.

"Why are you giving me such an unnecessary gift?" He glared at them, especially the stupid-looking bunny.

"Because I notice that no one has given you any gifts."

"That's because I specially requested everyone not to send me anything."

"Well, I did it anyway."

There you go again... but instead of being annoyed by the fact that you went out and did it any way he was somehow very touched by the nice gesture.

"Just exactly why would you go out of your way to send me things I specially requested not to?"

"Because I care for my captain and I know that you like bunnies." You smirked at him, causing Byakuya to let out an exasperated sigh, "You never change, do you? Always being so ridiculous."

You made a silly pouty face, fake crying afterward, "So harsh Bya~ All I wanted was to express how much I care of you." Your smile was genuine and it lit up the whole infirmary room, it made Byakuya's heart skip a beat. He somehow felt...warm when you smiled at him just like this. You walked closer to him, leaning down to cup his cheek, staring into his eyes.

You gave him a small peck on the lips out of nowhere. Byakuya's eyes widened, not sure what to think, your eyes widened again, your face now red like the roses you have given him. "I-I um... I better get going. See you later Captain Byakuya!" You then scurried off before he could say another word to you.

Now A month later, he was still thinking about the kiss you had given him. It had become nonstop, he remembered what your lips had felt like and how your warmth had healed something in him. He had promised to never fall in love again, he made that promise to Hisana and he was sticking to it but now here you are, breaking down the wall that he made all these years. Was it truly okay to fall in love with someone who was the exact opposite of Hisana?

Was it okay to truly love again?

He had never felt this way towards anyone else before...

"Hey Captain, I have the papers for you~." You hummed as you busted into Byakuya's office. Typical you, but a different day. He sighed, picking up his pen before staring at you rather coldly, "Set it on my desk." You did just that, staring at him out of curiosity. He seemed... different like he was always deep in thought. Why exactly was that?

"Hey Captain, out of curiosity, is something wrong?" Byakuya shot his head up, speaking rather quickly, "why would there be something wrong?" You simply shrugged, "I know something is wrong, ever since the day I visited you. I want to apologize for the kiss, I was worried about you and I was relieved that you would be okay...I just... don't know what I would if anything were to happen to you."

"Is that so?"

You nodded, "Yeah, despite our bickering I really do... like you.  As a boss I mean." He was silent, and it had made you nervous, why he's always so silent when he thinks?

"Are you sure it isn't just more than just that?" His question was so straightforward it made you even more scared to say something.

"Maybe it is, the real question is, what do you really think about me?"  You stared at him, now it was your turn to be straightforward. He got up from his desk, walking up to you, his dark eyes stared into your shiny e/c ones.  His slightly cold hand, cupped your reddened cheek, they felt nice against your warm skin, "I can't stop thinking about you. No matter how hard I try, you're always on my mind. And I don't know why. At first, I thought because you irritated me so much. Everything that you said was always so memorable but the day when you saved me, it made me realize how strong, passionate, and capable you are. It was something I always ignored and now I realized how... important you are to me."

You couldn't help but giggle at what he had said, "Really? So, you do like me?" Your heart was racing, but you were deep down scared at what he had said, you realized that he might not be able to love you because of Hisana.

He took your hands into his', before speaking again, "Part of me wants to keep the promise I made to myself... the other half wants to say 'screw it' and love you with all of my heart."  You couldn't believe he would be this vulnerable towards you, "Really? Then Which half is winning?" "The latter."

He lifted your chin up, so you could stare into your eyes, for once his eyes were filled with something, something passionate and loving. Then, right before completely pulling into you, he pushes against the wall, placing a hand onto the wall right beside you to trap you, making sure that you wouldn't leave his grasp, not like you wanted to leave anyway. He gave you a peck on the lips, then he went right back in to give you another kiss, this time more loving and passionate. You both spent a minute enjoying each other like this, the urgency you both had for each other was apparent. He needed you as much as you needed him. He then let go of you, the both you of panting from the kiss you both went through together.

You then smirked at him, "So why don't you tell me how you really feel Captain."

For the first time he smiled at your smart mouth, "You always have something to say, don't you?"

"If it makes our relationship more interesting than yes, I do." You teased him, causing him to lean forward again to give you another kiss.

3 Tips for Neurodivergent Witches

My craft changed significantly following my ADHD diagnosis almost 4 years ago. I was suddenly given this new frame of reference that helped me understand that I wasn't struggling because I was wrong/bad/lazy, but because I wasn't using the right tool set. With this new awareness, I was able to adjust my practice in order to best fit my brain, rather than exhaust myself trying to do things the way you're "supposed to".

Important Note: I'm ADHD, specifically the combination inattentive/hyperactive presentation. But I do experience a lot of the symptoms that fall under the overlap between ADHD & autism. That's why this is deliberately called 'Neurodivergent Witch Tips' and not simply 'ADHD Witch Tips'.

Tip #1: Use Medication as an Anchor Point

It's difficult for ND brains to maintain consistent routines, but daily medication can be a great way to establish a daily habit within your practice. It's much easier to form a new habit by linking it to one that already exists.

So when you take your meds- pull a tarot card, pray, practice grounding, make a libation or other offering, set your intention for the day, etc. Start small, don't try to do an entire ritual every time you take your meds. Once that habit is strong, you can add more onto it.

I also intentionally leave my medication on my altar. Apollo is a God of healing and medicine; by taking my medication at His altar, it's my way of showing devotion by taking care of myself in the best way possible. Our deities want us to thrive and our mental health is part of that.

Tip #2: Integrate Hyper-fixations & Special Interests

ND brains don't really have a meh setting. We're either fully invested or not interested. As a result, we can pick up new skills and knowledge fairly quickly. We have a wide range of interests and tend to know a good amount about a lot of different things.

And witches are curious by nature. We're always studying, always developing ourselves and our craft. So what aspects of that hyper-fixation could you use in your practice?

"Kate, are you seriously suggesting I try to integrate Minecraft or insects or cross-stitch or true crime into witchcraft?"

Hell yeah! I love playing Dungeons & Dragons- so why can't I do luck spells on my dice or draw protection sigils on my character sheets or create spells to amplify my creativity and storytelling? Why not? Imagine how much more powerful your magic will be when you're working with things that are truly meaningful to you.

(Side note- for my neurotypical witches, ask your ND friend to tell you about their special interests. Listen and ask questions. Getting to talk freely about something that we're excited about without worrying if we're being annoying or "too much" is an absolute gift.)

Tip #3: Design Your Practice to be ND-friendly

One of my favorite Youtubers has a running theme of how to make our lives and homes ADHD friendly, which you can watch here. And this idea of building our craft around our brain makes a huge impact by removing the limits of 'how' we can practice.

Break spells or rituals into more manageable parts if you're worried about maintaining focus for that length of time. Include your fidgets or sensory aids in your ritual materials. They are just as sacred- using what you need will not negatively impact the spell.

If you struggle to regularly maintain wards or protections, try using protection sigils with masking tape or sticky notes. I really like using these for sigils in general because I can move them easily and stick them anywhere I need. And if they no longer stick, that's a good sign that they need to be redone.

This can take a lot of trial and error to find what really works for you, but it is worth it. Please don't get discouraged or frustrated with yourself.

Almost everything in our world is built in a way that actively goes against how our brains are structured. Your spiritual practice should be something you don't have to fight with your brain to participate in. It should remove stress, not increase it.

These adjustments don't make you a lesser witch, it doesn't make your magic less effective. On the contrary, using your strengths and making the best choices for you is an incredibly powerful mindset for a witch.

I kinda wonder, what could bakugou do (hori write bakugou to do) to make him less popular with the "anti" crowd. Like He was a horrid child no doubt and people who try to put blame on Deku or lessen the terrible shit bakugou did aren't great. But as we don't rly see it, we have to assume bakugous behaviour wasn't stopped, we only ever saw his mum "punishing" him when he was being rude after getting kiddnapped. Nothing will excuse what bakugou did, but he has stopped? He's overall a harsh person but he's not harrassing and bullying people anymore, specifically not deku, he's trying to attone for what he did to deku and has now apologised for it. His behaviour was never viewed as justified or good in the series, he's a scary figure in middle school, we're not meant to like his behaviour, so the series itself hasn't justified his actions.

As someone who relate to both bakugou and deku more than I'd like to admit (never told someone to jump tho, that's fucked lol) so I can 100% understand not liking or even hating bakugou but as someone who's not 15 anymore, looking back I also made a lot of really shitty decisions and like bakugou have tried to make up for it, and like deku I was 'friends' with people who hurt me.

Is there anything he can do for the "antis" to just dislike him rather that be "anti"?

Hey there, anon! I think I’ve spoken about this only tangentially and/or in my main Bakugo meta, which is too big for anyone sane to read. So yeah, let’s chat here!

For me personally—and that’s all I can ever do: speak personally. I think it’s important to keep in mind that there is no single solution to please the “anti” crowd. Each fan will be looking for something slightly different in Bakugo’s character, much of which might contradict what a “stan” is currently enjoying. Given how charged a character he is, I'm not sure it's possible to get the entire fandom to like him—what I’m looking for hinges on having a different reading of the story than you seem to. Meaning, I think the series does justify his behavior. Not in any overt, super obvious way like having all the characters go, “Wow, Bakugo! I sure do love how you threaten people all the time. That’s super cool and heroic!” Things are rarely that straightforward. Rather, it’s in a more subtle, but consistent manner that paints a rather conclusive picture across hundreds of chapters.

Simply put, Bakugo is continually rewarded for his actions. Or, if not outright rewarded, his actions are ignored in a way that implies silent acceptance. Characters may not always like what he does... but they're willing to let it slide because Bakugo's heroism was always treated as a given, not something he had to earn and prove.

With the ever necessary disclaimer that I’m not fully caught up yet, here’s a list of some of the things that stood out to me in the first half of the series:

Bakugo’s bullying made him the most popular kid in school.

Bakugo’s bullying was ignored by/outright supported by the teachers.

Bakugo’s bullying did not hinder him from getting into U.A., one of the most prestigious hero schools around.

Despite acting horribly throughout his time at U.A. too, this behavior was continually ignored by the teachers and other authority figures around him.

Bakugo’s struggle to realize that other people aren’t “trash” doesn’t hurt his achievements in any way. He still gets top scores, still wins the tournament, etc.

Bakugo’s behavior gets him special attention from All Might, the greatest hero and Bakugo’s personal idol.

His behavior doesn’t make others dislike him in any manner that’s taken seriously. Everybody is still willing to not just put up with Bakugo, but—in time—start treating his behavior as a quirk (no pun intended lol) that they’re secretly fond of, rather than something he should legitimately be striving to change. Kirishima is the most overt example of this.

This is compounded by his behavior constantly being framed as humorous. Much like with Mineta’s perverted actions, characters might superficially go, “No, that’s bad!” but the story never demands any significant development because then we’d lose the “joke” of Bakugo screaming in rage at the slightest inconvenience, threatening to murder someone over nothing, constantly belittling everyone around him in a “funny” manner, etc. When fans talk about development of a manga character as archetypal and extreme as Bakugo, most don’t really want to see significant change to his base personality. Because then that would result in someone who doesn’t look like the “real” Bakugo: someone nicer, more even-tempered, more mature, etc. But for those of us who were never drawn to that personality in the first place, the continued acceptance of his rude, egotistical, and violent behavior is discomforting. The easiest comparison I can draw is between this and Bakugo’s mother slapping him. That slap is meant to be another “joke”—we see it constantly in shonen anime, something "humorous" you shouldn’t take too seriously because haha, it's just an overprotective mother—but many fans do take it seriously, using it as the basis for a whole “Bakugo was abused and this explains his behavior” reading. Well, I take the “joke” of Bakugo’s threats and insults seriously, especially in a story that starts with something like telling Izuku to jump off the roof. In the same way that many fans want others to treat Bakugo’s mother as a serious topic that has had a negative influence on his development, I want the series to take Bakugo’s everyday actions seriously as a negative influence on… well, everyone around him. But it doesn’t. His base personality is grudgingly adored.

The above two points are seen most overtly in Izuku, who never wavers in his respect for Bakugo despite how Bakugo treats him. Not just prior to U.A., but during their training too. Izuku, as the protagonist, is the emotional heart of this tale, so when he talks about how inspiring Bakugo is, it encourages the reader to see his behavior as inspiring too. Rather than, as said, something that needs to change. Izuku's continued friendship with Bakugo, his adoration of him, and his acceptance of the way he's treated has severely warped how the entire story sees Bakugo's actions. After all, if #pure Izuku can see the good in Bakugo, why can't everyone else? He must not be that bad after all.

I could get into detailed analyses of all the above—like how Bakugo was the one comforted after attacking Izuku outside the dorms at night and how the messed up relationship he has with Izuku is upheld as something to nurture; how the remedial courses he had to take were made to be rather silly, thereby undermining their supposed importance to his development; how Bakugo’s kidnapping had nothing to do with his flaws, but much of the fandom uses it as a way to dismiss any appropriate consequences because, “Hasn’t he suffered enough?” etc.—but in the interest of keeping this within a readable length, I’ll leave it at that. The point is that Bakugo has always been privileged when it comes to his behavior, resulting in others either outright praising it, ignoring it, or demanding that he change a miniscule bit, which always keeps him far below the standards of both his peers and the expectations of a hero. Everyone in 1-A must learn to be even better than the good people they already are... Bakugo needs to learn that other people aren't dirt at the bottom of his shoes. It's never been a particularly impressive development when pit against the rest of the class. All of which can make something like an apology feel pretty hollow. Yes, he’s apologized and I say with all seriousness that that’s great! But how does that apology stack up against 300+ chapters of content? As Bakugo’s words highlight, he's been a really awful person up "until now": he was consumed by Izuku being “miles ahead of [him],” he “looked down on [him]” because he didn’t have a quirk, he “didn’t want to recognize that,” he “hated that,” “grew distant,” “tried to beat you down,” “opposed you and tried to show my superiority over you,” and ends it all with, “it probably doesn’t mean anything telling you all this” before finally getting to the “I’m sorry.” This is basically a laundry list of how horrible a person Bakugo has been for the entire series, with an acknowledgement that this apology is coming really, really late. This is the moment where I could START to like Bakugo, depending on how he acts form here on out, but that pivotal moment arrived after six years of content and in the final arc of the story. It’s too late. Bakugo needed this kind of self-reflection and positive action 250+ chapters ago so he could (hopefully) grow into a better person across the story, not at the story's end. What we got instead is 322 chapters of him being a really horrible person, but the story going out of its way to excuse or even praise that behavior the majority of the time.

As a quick comparison to end on, I think what Bakugo needed was what Soo Jin got in True Beauty. You don’t need to have seen the drama to follow along. The tl;dr is that she has a lot of the core qualities of Bakugo: an all-consuming drive to win that was created due to abusive parents with high expectations, resulting in her bullying a peer to a pretty horrific extent. The difference between them is how the story frames their actions. When Soo Jin becomes the bully she loses everything. Rather than succeeding academically, her grades plummet, making it clear that this anxiety and self-doubt (things the fandom keeps insisting Bakugo is struggling with, but that rarely ever show up in the text) is actually impacting her day-to-day life. Her best friend drops her because she’s not going to support her choices. The boy she likes rejects her. She’s eventually forced to start over somewhere new - which importantly separates her from the girl she was bullying - and get some distance from her parents, resulting in the growth needed to become a healthier, happier, good person again. So when Soo Jin apologizes to the girl she hurt, it feels earned. The story continually recognized how horrific her actions were and put her into a place where she either had to change, or continue losing at everything else that was important to her. Bakugo? Bakugo doesn’t lose. Oh, he claims he does because he’s comparing himself to Izuku constantly, but that’s just him thinking in extremes. He still wins academically. Still wins many battles. Still wins at having friends. Still wins by maintaining the prestige of being a U.A. student. Still wins by getting All Might’s attention. Still wins by receiving Izuku’s respect and an agreement to maintain this rivalry that Bakugo is so obsessed with. Bakugo comes out well 99% of the time, he just thinks he's "lost" because he can't stand not being the absolute best.

For me, the story needed to have Bakugo face consequences for his behavior, not receive rewards and/or have others ignore it, and that revelation/apology needed to come way, way sooner. For me the issue is not a specific action that Horikoshi can have Bakugo do in the next chapter and them bam, I like him now. The problem is Bakugo’s entire concept, how he’s received by the entire cast, and his run across this entire series. "Entire" is the key word there. Which is why the “But he’s apologized. What more do you antis want?” reactions don’t sit well. What we wanted is a better written redemption arc across those 300+ chapters, not a single scene that’s meant to have us forget all the other problems inherent in the story. At this point it’s a far more complicated situation than, “Bakugo just needs to do X, Y, and Z and then we’re golden.” At the end of the day, Horikoshi failed to make me like him as a person and I’m pretty sure he isn’t going to change Bakugo enough to make him likable to me. Bakugo was never the sort of character I’d be inclined towards without a serious, nuanced redemption arc, but sadly, a core, crucial part of that redemption arc took six years to arrive. At this point there’s no way to change the problems in Bakugo’s writing for that huge chunk of the series and not enough time left in the series, it seems, to do the work we should have seen across the entire run. Honestly, idk if the Bakugo we'll get going forward is someone I can just dislike as opposed to being really uncomfortable with, but my money is on there being too little story left and too much investment in upholding Bakugo's base personality for that to happen. I could absolutely be proven wrong! But I think the problems are structural and needed to be better dealt with from page one, not hastily patched over in the final hour.
