Neurotoxins disrupt the normal functioning of the nervous system, (then again, define normal...) often by interfering with the transmission of signals between neurons. They can be produced by organisms or synthesized artificially.

The kind in pufferfish is tetrodotoxin (ttx) and is extremely potent, blocking sodium channels in nerve cells and preventing communication between nerves and muscles. Bad stuff :0

Which leads paralysis, and in severe cases ✧death✧

I remember reading somewhere that pufferfish don't produce TTX themselves and it's actually from bacteria inside them or stuff they ingest.

I'm assuming that this is why it's possible to remove the toxins feasibly and why in Japan it's a delicacy (fugu). But it needs to be prepared by licensed chefs for safety.

A lot of venoms from snakes and other animals are neurotoxins, and so is Botulinum toxin... Which is uh.... Used in botox. but also can be lethal so... Y'know

Honestly neurotoxin effects are kinda wide ranges tho, so like I guess you'd use whatever depending on the occasion for:

- Muscle paralysis

- Seizures

- Loss of sensation or numbness

- Respiratory issues

Basically comes in different forms and lots of fun effects :)
