Something I've wanted to adress to Tumblr for a while about the way they've handled MCYT, sometimes very poorly and misinformed.

1. MCYT is a GIANT category

MCYT literally stands for Minecraft YouTube. This applies to LITERALLY ANYONE WHO HAS EVER POSTED A MINECRAFT VIDEO! Hermitcraft? Mcyt. Dream smp? Mcyt. Any lets player or game focused channel who's played Minecraft in a single video or series? Mcyt. Old channels who stopped posting Minecraft years ago like yogscast and skydoesminecraft? Mcyt. Random 13 year old posting a video on their phone? MCYT. Are there bad apples in that group? Yes, but don't let that take away from the thriving communities and wonderful creators also on the platform, many of which content creation is their job and source of income.

2. MCC (Minecraft champions)

Mcc is a completely non profit event designed solely for entertainment with preassigned teams. If you don't like a player being grouped with another, or hate a single player in the event, don't try to drag the whole event down with it. This is, in all honesty, an awe inspiring event. One tournament can have more viewers than the OLYMPICS, and have had tournaments where all procedes from streamers go to charity. Dismissing or hating the event for one individual goes against the good and the wonder such an event has created.

3. Dream smp, and the lack of information and respect it is given.

A lot of people complain "it's just a bunch of chist white men" which is both 1. Disrespect and 2. Objectively wrong. This actively disregards any female (ninachu, captain puffy, etc), LGBTQ (eret, antfrost, ninachu, etc), and minority (skeppy, ponk, quackity, etc) content creators. Additionally, a vast majority of the content creators heavily support their communities, especially their lgbtq fans, like philza, tommyinnit, and technoblade. These people have made a community where channels have grown exponentially (some even appearing on the news!), communities have flourished (theres a reason it is usually the one that glitches into 1st place on trending, hell, full songs and multi millions view animatics exist on YouTube), and friends have been made both in the server and the community, all of this without even mentioning the hard work put into the server's story and events.

4. Dream, and his impact on mcyt...

I'll preface this by saying: i don't personally like dream as a person. I disagree with his political opinions and he has done and said messed up things. If we are talking about his impact on mcyt though? He's an (unfortunately) vital player. His large subscriber and viewer count helped not only revive minecraft for the general public, but actively helped and continues to help grow the channels of the people he plays with (the dream team, all dream smp members, any mcc team mates, etc). His precense in videos also MASSIVELY increases success by nearly every recordable statistic for anyone who joins his server (ranboo, philza, ponk, quackity, technoblade, etc etc etc), many of which had a significantly lower subscriber and viewer count before the smp. The same can be said for events he's in, such as mcc. Finally, his role in the dream smp. He's by no means a main character, hell, he's not only the main villain, but has been locked in the servers prison for months now with maybe an appearance in a stream once every month or 2. Additionally, he never streams specifically to avoid taking away the spotlight from other creators in the server. Do I agree with a lot of the things he's said or done? No. Do I think his wrongdoings should drag down a large group of extraordinary talented players and content creators, all of which part of one connected story they all put together with love and care, with a massive wonderful community full of loving and talented individuals? Absolutely not.

Basically, all the "dream smp fans don't interact" should be "dream stans and apologists don't interact" or something along those lines, dont drag down a whole community due to one bad apple, especially when half of them dont even know about or like said bad apple.

(Also side note i didn't know where to put. The fact it occasionally glitches out BLM and SAH is bullshit, but don't pretend that it's a MCYT exclusive thing. Shows and movies, video games, sports, and irl events have all taken it's place due to the glitchy unoptimized way tumblr pins those topics. In my opinion those 2 should have a whole separate page or area so they can't ever be unpinned via any large event like they currently do every day or 2. Tumblr thrives of of fandoms and the interactions in said fandoms (why supernatural, undertale, the lorax, etc. Became associated with tumblr to a degree), causing them to lose traction and feel out of place in a "trending tab" format, also fixing the "it glitching out of trending" issue.)

(Also you don't have to but please share this so more people know this and learn, lot of missinformatuon and straight up lies are spread about mcyt as a whole, commonly on blw and sah for some reason? Not blaming them at all, just a trend I've noticed)

Theory- There is no Darkiplier

Bare with me.

If you’ve ever watched one of Markipler’s videos, you know that he takes no shit from nobody. Mark can be very sarcastic, very blunt, and can express his honesty in almost abstractly satirical ways. This shows particularly when he is talking about his characters (think about Darkiplier Vs. Antisepticeye, a satirical commentary on a fandom’s influence on characters and ‘giving the people what they want’- more on that later). Mark is very protective of his more in-depth and popularized characters (Darkiplier and Wilford Warfstache, for example), and that is completely understandable. Now, recently, people have been suspecting that Darkiplier will return. This all started when Game Theory released a video discussing the lore about Who Killed Markiplier and the general universe of which it takes place. Matpat brought up the idea that Markiplier could become ‘actor Mark (from the Who Killed Markiplier universe)’ in his videos, citing this vlog as suspicious because ‘Markiplier would NEVER talk like that!’ during that segment, Matpat essentially said that the Mark in that video could never be the actual Mark because he was acting ‘off’. There are a few issues with this theory. For one, it is making assumptions as to what ‘is’ and ‘isn’t’ Mark. Keep in mind, none of us will ever truly know Markiplier as well as Markiplier. Not Amy, not us, not Matpat, not anyone. But, since the beginning, Mark’s ‘v-logs’ were used to bridge the gap between viewer and creator. In the vlog Mat used as an example, Mark was talking about how he wanted to be more honest with us- it was literally in the title. But Game theory chalked his behavior up as ‘douchey’ and therefore fake... in the video where he was trying to be his real self. Whether what Mark said in that vlog was douchey or not, it put a bad taste in my mouth for Mat to assume that it couldn’t possibly still be the ‘real Mark’. And, if you remember from Mark’s twitch stream from when he was signing laminates, he doesn’t like people to assume things of him (I don’t have a source right now, but basically he ranted about people saying he ‘looked sick/tired’, saying it was disrespectful). I’m not saying that he was offended by this, but there is certainly reason for him to be offended, and his response to the video didn’t look too happy. (Well, I shouldn’t say that from this source, but in the community tab of his Youtube channel he just said ‘.’. Again, not substantial evidence that he was offended, but I thought it was important to include). Mark is a person, he’s allowed to act differently without us jumping to conclusions. And that leads into my other problem with Mat’s theory: It takes the control away from Mark. Under this theory, because we don’t know every aspect of Mark’s personality, we could assume that anything Mark does is fake. He can’t even deny this theory without people saying that it was only character Mark covering his tracks. That’s just not fair, especially considering that this is his story and these are his characters. So, what can he do other than give the people what they want? In Darkiplier vs Antisepticeye, Mark and Sean show us why their most iconic characters can never interact. Ever since both Darkiplier and Antisepticeye were introduced, people speculated that they would eventually fight or otherwise go face to face. The Antisepticeye PAX video was only fuel to the fire, despite Sean debunking claims that Anti would butt heads with Dark. As the speculation turned into demands, with both Dark and Anti becoming more and more prevalent on Youtube, Antisepticeye Vs Darkiplier was released. This video did what Mark is doing now: Giving people what they want, while showing that it could never happen. Matpat’s theory unintentionally put Mark in a spot where he knew people were watching him, and, no matter what he did, they would think that he was lying/plotting. So, he decided to give the people what they want. 3 Scary Games #9, posted 3 days after Mat’s theory, was when the hints at a Darkiplier reveal became suddenly more frequent and more dramatic. Because I don’t want to assume anything outright from this video, which is what caused this problem in the first place, I invite you to watch this video for yourself. All I’ll say is that I personally thought that the glitches were less subtle/meaningful than his past references to Dark have been. Also, they were completely different from things like Go Back To Sleep, which have been shown to be hints about Darkiplier. It feels like the easter eggs in this video are going a completely different direction from where Go Back To Sleep left off. The next video I want to talk about is the one he posted today. This is where I am going to apply my theory, to see if it can help to explain the video. What stuck out to me (and I’m sure other viewers) the most about this video was the thumbnail. It is a picture of a woman with “DARKIPLIER!?” written below it, with arrows connecting the woman to the name and vice versa. But, obviously, the two things don’t connect at all. Surely that woman isn’t Darkiplier, and if she is, then what is that supposed to mean? And, if you watch the video, you can clearly see that there IS no Darkiplier. If anything, the most exciting thing about the video is that he gets frustrated with the games, runs into a few errors, and looks back on his other playthroughs. But, looking through the comments section (I am not meaning to attack or criticize these people in any way, and I am keeping them anonymous. I am only trying to point out the overall message of these comments): “Roasting ‘Old Markiplier’ huh? So I guess... It has begun“ “This was unusual. I assume it's part of the greater meta narrative, but I did not enjoy this version of Mark. It was almost hard to watch. He was so negative and harsh, especially side by side with his older persona.“ “...its not mark...listen to how he talks about himself. The drastic change in his personality. This isnt mark....its Damian... there is more proof but no time look for me I will try to explain more“ “It’s all coming together now...“ ...or is it? Now, it is okay to be creative. It’s okay to speculate! But even in a video that lacked the past hints of the others, and didn’t even mention Darkiplier other than the thumbnail, people are assuming that this is not the real Mark. Why? Because he’s criticizing his past self, which he has always done. And, in my opinion, this is all due to Matpat’s theory. Before that video, everyone thought that Markiplier was just being himself (as far as I know). Now, people are just saying he’s a giant douchebag and ‘not himself’. Imagine him making a video, being himself, and reading those comments. So, there you have it. Though its fun to make theories, we need to think about what evidence those theories are based off of, and how comments like the ones above- our assumptions- could make Mark feel. Mark is a person. Sometimes he gets angry, sometimes he can be a douchebag, but that doesnt make him any less Mark. Finally, I’m not trying to assume things about Mark, I’m just trying to make sense of this whole situation. If Mark truly is just having fun with Darkiplier, that’s fine! And again, i’m not trying to make anyone feel bad about their theories, I’m just sharing my view on Mat’s theory in particular. (I didn’t talk about the other things he’s done like mention Celine/Darkiplier and forget to do his intro because I thought it would only make this post longer. That’s because higher quantities of charged solar particles seep through the field there, which can cause malfunctions in computers and circuitry.

The source of this growing “dent,” as NASA calls it, is a bit of a mystery. But scientists expect it to keep expanding.

“This thing is set to increase in size in the future,” Julien Aubert, a geomagnetism expert from the Paris Institute of Earth Physics, told Insider.

Aubert thinks that the dent may have a connection to two gigantic blobs of dense rock buried 2,897 kilometers (1,800 miles) inside the Earth. Because of their makeup, the blobs disturb the liquid metal in the outer core that generates the magnetic field.

Both blobs are “millions of times larger than Mount Everest in terms of volume,” according to Qian Yuan, a researcher studying geodynamics at Arizona State University.

Yuan’s team thinks the blobs are otherworldly in origin: After an ancient, Mars-sized planet careened into Earth, it might have left these pieces behind.

Nearly 3,219 kilometers below Earth’s surface, swirling iron in the planet’s outer core generates a magnetic field that stretches all the way from there to the space surrounding our planet.

That swirl is generated, in part, by a process in which hotter, lighter material from the core rises into the semi-solid mantle above. There, it swaps places with cooler, denser mantle material, which sinks into the core below. This is known as convection.

The problem is that something at the boundary between the core and mantle underneath southern Africa is wreaking havoc on that convection, thereby weakening the strength of the magnetic field above it.

It’s plausible, Aubert said, that one of the blobs Yuan’s team is investigating is to blame.

Yuan’s research posits that the blobs are remnants of an ancient planet called Theia, which struck Earth in its infancy 4.5 billion years ago. The collision helped create the Moon.

Following that crash, the thinking goes, two parts of Theia may have sunk and gotten preserved in the deepest part of Earth’s mantle.

The orientation of Earth’s magnetic field depends on the direction the iron inside is moving. To have a strong magnetic field, the entire thing has to be oriented the same way. So any areas that deviate from the usual pattern weaken the field’s overall integrity.

Still, it’s possible these low-shear-velocity provinces aren’t to blame for the field’s weak spot at all.

“Why doesn’t the same weakness occur in the magnetic field above the Pacific, where the other province is?” Christopher Finlay, a geophysicist at the Technical University of Denmark, told Insider.

A ‘hostile region’

A weaker field enables more charged particles from solar wind to reach satellites and other spacecraft in low-Earth orbit. That can cause problems with electronic systems, interrupt data collection, and lead expensive computer components to age prematurely.

In the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, satellite failures were frequent in the South Atlantic Anomaly, Aubert said.

Even today, the European Space Agency has found that satellites flying through the region are “more likely to experience technical malfunctions,” like brief glitches that can disrupt communications.

That’s why it’s common for satellite operators to shut down non-essential components as the objects pass through the area.

The Hubble Space Telescope, too, passes through the anomaly in 10 of its 15 orbits around Earth each day, spending nearly 15 percent of its time in this “hostile region,” according to NASA.

The weak spot is getting weaker

Researchers use a set of three satellites, collectively nicknamed Swarm, to keep tabs on the South Atlantic Anomaly.

Some studies suggest the region’s total area has quadrupled in the last 200 years, and that it continues to expand year over year. The anomaly has also weakened by 8 percent since 1970.

In the last decade, Swarm also observed that the anomaly has split in half: One area of magnetic weakness has developed over the ocean southwest of Africa, while another sits east of South America.

This is bad news, according to Finlay, because it means the hostile region for spacecraft is going to get bigger.

“Satellites will have problems not only over South America but be impacted when they’re coming over southern Africa as well,” he said.

He purchased it through the marketplace OpenSea, one of the largest vendors of so-called non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, in the hopes of reselling it for a profit.

“It’s like a casino,” he said in an interview. “If it goes up 100 times you resell it, if it doesn't, well, you don’t tell anyone.”

He never got the chance to find out. A week later, he opened up his digital “wallet,” where the artwork would supposedly be available, and was faced with an ominous banner reading, “This page has gone off grid. We’ve got a 404 error and explored deep and wide, but we can’t find the page you’re looking for.”

The artwork, which he expected to be on the page, had disappeared entirely. “There was no history of my ever purchasing it, or ever owning it,” he said. “Now there’s nothing. My money’s gone.”

Was it a glitch? A hack? Did Kuennen perhaps misunderstand how, exactly, NFTs work and how they’re stored? You can’t blame him; over the past few months, numerous individuals have complained about their NFTs going “missing,” “disappearing,” or becoming otherwise unavailable on social media. Ed Clements is a community manager for OpenSea who fields these kinds of problems daily. In an interview, he explained that digital artworks themselves are not immutably registered “on the blockchain” when a purchase is made. When you buy an artwork, rather, you’re “minting” a new cryptographic signature that, when decoded, points to an image hosted elsewhere. This could be a regular website, or it might be the InterPlanetary File System, a large peer-to-peer file storage system.

Clements distinguished between the NFT artwork (the image) and the NFT, which is the little cryptographic signature that actually gets logged.

"I use the analogy of OpenSea and similar platforms acting like windows into a gallery where your NFT is hanging,” he said. “The platform can close the window whenever they want, but the NFT still exists and it is up to each platform to decide whether or not they want to close their window.”

So when Kuennen bought that Moon Ticket, there was no JPEG logged onto the blockchain itself. There was just a certificate, pointing to an URL. And that pointer, Clements explained, can be suppressed for a number of reasons, including a violation of a marketplace’s terms and conditions. Copyright violations and stolen artworks are a feature of the emerging NFT space.

"Closing the window" on an NFT isn't difficult. NFTs are rendered visually only on the front-end of a given marketplace, where you see all the images on offer. All the front-end code does is sift through the alphanumeric soup on the blockchain to produce a URL that links to where the image is hosted, or less commonly metadata which describes the image. According to Clement: “the code that finds the information on the blockchain and displays the images and information is simply told, ‘don't display this one.’”

“NFTs come in all different shapes and sizes,” added Mewny, a pseudonymous developer at eGirl Capital, which provides data insights into the cryptocurrency world. “Usually OpenSea will either have to render the image from on-chain metadata or retrieve it from a link in the metadata.”

But “in both cases,” he said, “it can simply choose not to.”

An important point to reiterate is that while NFT artworks can be taken down, the NFTs themselves live inside Ethereum. This means that the NFT marketplaces can only interact with and interpret that data, but cannot edit or remove it. As long as the linked image hasn't been removed from its source, an NFT bought on OpenSea could still be viewed on Rarible, SuperRare, or whatever—they are all just interfaces to the ledger.

The kind of suppression detailed by Clements is likely the explanation for many cases of "missing" NFTs, such as one case documented on Reddit when user "elm099" complained that an NFT called “Big Boy Pants” had disappeared from his wallet. In this case, the user could see the NFT transaction logged on the blockchain, but couldn’t find the image itself.

In the case that an NFT artwork was actually removed at the source, rather than suppressed by a marketplace, then it would not display no matter which website you used. If you saved the image to your phone before it was removed, you could gaze at it while absorbing the aura of a cryptographic signature displayed on a second screen, but that could lessen the already-tenuous connection between NFT and artwork.

For Kuennen, though, this explanation was wholly unsatisfactory. He was doubtful that his NFT violated OpenSea’s terms and conditions, and he received no correspondence to that effect. No email, no warning, nothing.

He said he couldn’t even find a record of the token itself on the Ethereum blockchain, though he was able to view the transaction in which he spent $500 and bought the image. This was truly disturbing, because even if an NFT artwork has been taken down, the signature should still be available.

We called up a few developers, and they were just as baffled as Kuennen.

“This one’s a pickle,” said Mewny, speculating that the token hadn’t actually been minted at all, and that it would be minted “properly” at a later date in order to save on expensive Ethereum fees. It’s not unlike those cafeterias which sell customers little plastic tokens that can later be exchanged for food after queuing. Except in this case, the token is invisible, the queue never ends, and the “food” is a JPEG stuck to a wall—which abruptly disappears after about a week.

Sam Williams, the founder of Arweave, an Ethereum file storage application, pointed to a recent OpenSea update in which the company began to mint tokens only after a sale is made to minimise losses from gas fees in the case of a botched sale.

As it turns out, however, the resolution to the riddle of Kuennen’s missing NFT record on the blockchain has to do with even more arcane Ethereum minutiae. Strap in.

NFTs are generally represented by a form of token called the ERC-721. It’s just as simple to locate this token’s whereabouts as ether (Ethereum's in-house currency) and other tokens such as ERC-20s. The NFT marketplace SuperRare, for instance, sends tokens directly to buyers’ wallets, where their movements can be tracked rather easily. The token can then generally be found under the ERC-721 tab.

OpenSea, however, has been experimenting with a new new token variant: the ERC-1155, a “multitoken” that designates collections of NFTs.

This token standard, novel as it is, isn’t yet compatible with Etherscan, said Williams. That means ERC-1155s saved on Ethereum don’t show up, even if we know they are on the blockchain because the payments record is there, and the “smart contracts” which process the sale are designed to fail instantly if the exchange can’t be made.

Take, for instance, the buyer B39A88, who last week purchased this collection by the artist “Foswell Banks.” (Who may or may not be this reporter.) The payment record is there and the art is on OpenSea. But under the ERC-721 tab the NFT tied to the artwork is nowhere to be seen. We know, however, that it is online; it’s just not compatible with Etherscan.

Mystery solved

In the end, it turns out that the case of Kuennen's missing NFT came down to two causes: a terms of service violation on OpenSea that resulted in the image being suppressed, and an unreadable ERC-1155 standard that made it inaccessible on Etherscan. We know this because we reached out to OpenSea CTO Alex Attalah and he took a look at Kuennen’s Moon Ticket screenshot.

“Checked our moderator logs,” Attalah wrote. “The creator made a collection, our mods saw it and initially it looked good and non-Elon related. Then they modified it significantly to look like a SpaceX collection (including an official-looking SpaceX banner), and users started to report items including 'Moon ticket #29'. Our team took it down before other users were deceived by it.”

“Unless there's a blue checkmark on the collection, we ask buyers to do their research in our TOS," he added. "Your friend still owns the item in his wallet, though—nothing is being removed from it. Just OpenSea's TOS means we can't show it.”

Atallah recommended that Kuennen simply hook up his wallet to a different marketplace, such as Rarible, where it might not have been taken down.

Kuennen did just that, and returned to us with something of a half-victory: A screenshot in the “collectibles” section of his new Rarible wallet showing, in place of a 404, a blank frame where the image should have been. The image was still either being suppressed or was removed at the source, but Rarible showed that the NFT existed—unlike OpenSea, which plans to replace its impenetrable 404 banner with a proper notification soon, said Atallah.

This is all illustrative of a common problem with Ethereum and cryptocurrencies generally, which despite being immutable and unhackable and abstractly perfect can only be taken advantage of via unreliable third-party applications.

Kuennen, for his part, seemed a little nonplussed. “While I still don’t understand what has happened at least it is still somewhere,” he said via WhatsApp. “Yay.”

He wondered whether there was any way he could restore the image without having to gaze into the blockchain itself. Probably not. Could he, at least, somehow restore the link to the image? But where was it even hosted? Was it even hosted? None of this seemed even remotely hopeful. The best bet, he figured, would be to just resell it as it is, and call it avant-garde.

A nearly five-minute advertisement has been trending on YouTube India over the last few days, in what is a rare occurrence on the video streaming platform.

India’s top YouTuber — Ajey Nagar aka CarryMinati – features in the satirical video endorsing lifestyle brand Arctic Fox’s gaming backpack.

It can be viewed on YouTube’s “Trending” tab that lists the most popular videos of the day across categories on the site for each country.

Conceptualised by creative agency Humour Me, the backpack ad video has fetched over 8 million views on the Google-owned platform since its roll-out on October 2 and is essentially one that liberally criticises all existing advertising tropes.

At a key moment in the ad, Nagar is seen speaking directly to the audience about how sick he is of brands making highfalutin claims – “without this bag, you are nothing” — in their commercials. “At the end of the day, it’s just a backpack. It’s decent at what it does but it won’t change your fortune,” he says.

In an environment where buying fake views and followers have become common practice across social media platforms, one may really question the significance of an ad trending on the platform on the back of views. To this, Dhruv Sachdeva, founder of Humour Me, pointed out that the video had fetched over 50,000 comments across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and others, within two days of going live, especially . “Not even Nike gets that,” Sachdeva said, highlighting that engagement metrics like comments should be weighed more than the views to determine the success of a piece of content.

Arctic Fox has not spent on media to push the ad across digital platforms and plans to continue banking on its organic reach to drive sales, said founder Sridhar Thirunakara.

The company has witnessed a 5X jump in sales for the backpack since signing on CarryMinati as brand ambassador last week, he said.

Normally, Nagar garners “a similar number of views for both original content and branded content as long as the content rests on CarryMinati’s channel, since the audience is more proactive and focussed there,” said Deepak Char, his business manager.

This time around, however, the commercial uploaded on the brand’s channel is the one that is trending. “It is really exciting and I’m not sure if any Indian creator has witnessed this feat in the past,” Nagar told ET.

If a video is trending on YouTube, it gets even more views because, for unsuspecting users, the “Trending” section serves as an important source of content discovery on the platform, said Praanesh Bhuvaneswar, CEO of Qoruz, an influencer data analytics firm.

Branded content videos often trend on YouTube but not ones where an advertiser is selling its product outright.

In that sense, an ad trending on the platform is rare, said Pooja Jauhari, CEO of digital creative agency The Glitch, adding that Arctic Fox will likely earn significantly from it.

“It is culturally relevant, as it speaks authentically to the youth and the ever-growing gaming community in the country,” she added.

Having their video trending on YouTube is also an important KPI (key performance indicator) for most agencies, Jauhari said.

Getting an ad to trend organically on YouTube is a phenomenon that advertisers covet as it cannot be bought or gamed easily.

“At one point in the recent past, getting videos trended on YouTube was a service some agencies offered. YouTube started pulling down those videos and removing those brand channels, so advertisers are a lot more careful now,” said an influencer marketing professional who did not wish to be named.

According to YouTube’s fake engagement policy, “YouTube doesn’t allow anything that artificially increases the number of views, likes, comments, or other metric either through the use of automatic systems or by serving up videos to unsuspecting viewers. Additionally, content that solely exists to incentivise viewers for engagement (views, likes, comments, etc) is prohibited. Content and channels that don’t follow this policy may be terminated and removed from YouTube.”

Jauhari said the ad sets a benchmark for how influencer marketing should be done right as the video plays on influencer CarryMinati’s personality and reach as a gamer.

Nagar said he wrote all the dialogues himself and “changed the structure a bit, which gave more impact to the scenes …”

At one point in the ad, Nagar asks his manager if the client (referring to Thirunkara) has paid them yet before receiving his phone call.

Upon hearing that the money has not in fact come in, Nagar decides to massage the client’s ego by saying things like, “the bag is amazing. It can make a donkey look like a horse.” Switching off, he turns to the audience and says one has to do these things for the money.

Many brands might hesitate to give CarryMinati a free hand in bringing his tone of voice into their brand messaging, said Thirunakara of Arctic Fox, alluding to the gratuitous use of swear words in Nagar’s content.

“It was a high-risk we were taking as well, as that language doesn’t go well with our brand,” he added.

The risk, however, seems to have paid off.
