Alright this turned into more of A Project than I expected lmao but I really wanted a clearer guide for Maksim's mods both for visual and lore references :v
Text under the cut in case you don't want to squint at the images. Also just for kicks, although I never expect to actually play him in a campaign, I crunched the numbers just to see how completely ruined his essence is
HAND RAZORS
First two joints of each digit replaced with carbon fiber, with tendons refitted to operate the modified claw mechanism
Fingertip casing with softer pad with temperature and pressure sensitivity
Claw mechanism based on cat claws; claw acts as fourth joint which swivels independently. Protracting/retracting controlled by flexing specific muscles in the fingers
Small raised inlays installed in knuckles for increased impact/damage when punching
EYE IMPLANT
Provides low-light vision and heightened motion tracking
Interfaces with wired reflex system via neural implant
MUSCLE REPLACEMENT - left arm
Left arm augmented with fiber optic mesh to accelerate electrical impulses from the brain, as well as surface-coated joints
Initially installed to correct for ligament damage from a previous injury
Provides smoother articulation and greater stability when aiming
MUSCLE TONER - right arm
Bioware; less extensive augment in order to balance reflex improvements from previous muscle replacement
MODIFIED SKILLWIRES
Rather than pairing with a skilljack, works in tandem with wired reflex system to provide smoother, more refined control over reflexes
WIRED REFLEXES + reflex trigger
Neural implant: accelerates processing of incoming sensory input (eyes and ears) and transferral of response impulses to the nervous system, provides wireless reflex trigger control
Spinal implant: accelerates impulse transfer through nervous system, especially between neural implant and skillwires, monitors adrenal amp production, increases articulation, houses subdermal reflex trigger that dampens effects outside combat, provides central access point for maintenance/troubleshooting
Adrenal amps: stimulate natural adrenaline production when triggered, further increasing situational awareness and response time
PAIN INHIBITOR
Bioware; edited nervous tissue that interrupts the body’s automatic responses to pain stimuli
Does not eliminate the sensory experience of pain, but allows it to be ignored/overcome with minimal effort
#shadowrun#ghost city#why did I do so much rendering instead of just linework..... I don't know. It just happened that way#I was writing full image IDs for these and then the page glitched out and I lost the whole thing 😭 sorry but I didn't want to start over#bc I need groceries....#anyway bye#maksim girard#artbyrom

There's a non-zero chance I'm the only Shadowrun: Hong Kong player who took Duncan on every mission, which I did 25% because well, he IS my brother, and 75% because I gave him the Shiawase Loader Arm and oh you thought you could throw a grenade at my clustered units like when I was a poor struggling newbie playing Dragonfall ENJOY THE FASTBALL SPECIAL
#teruyo talk#that cyberware was the difference between victory and defeat in that one potentially really brutal fight in the epilogue#where the enemy turns took so long i genuinely went to make a sandwich during one#anyway i also always took Is0bel with me for obvious reasons#so i actually ended up running >80% of the game with them and Gobbet sorry benched yet interesting characters#(in dragonfall my character was a decker so i just perma-benched Blitz)#(before you ask i played xcom after i'd played shadowrun)#(but at least i didn't utterly suck at xcom at the start thanks to learning things the hard way in shadowrun 👍)

kira's not used to being picked up in the SLIGHTEST but shes having a great time anyways. HAPPY BIRTHDAY @nyoxt!!
Wooo, I finished my open ych thingie!!!
So yeah you can draw your character being hugged! Orrrr if your character is not fond of bear hugs- than I also got a dance! :D (I think that the stick person from the hug thingie should be around 180cm, if it's important) Also here's a folder with clear pngs and psds for convenience . It's not perfect, but hey, I'm very proud of myself for not giving up on this idea!

Sort of a Pet Peeve I tend to have with something that people in the indie TTRPG community do sometimes:
I LOVE one-page RPGs, but I often notice a lot of people tend to recommend them to folks who are just starting out with RPGs, or to folks with no TTRPG experience outside of D&D to convince them that branching out of D&D doesn’t have to be a massive investment of money and time, but honestly I think in msot cases one-page RPG are not a particularly good starting point to start exploring the medium.
And like... I get the logic of recommending them because shorter = easier and less intimidating to get through, and the rhetorical utility of being able to take a D&D-only gamer who keeps insisting that playing another system would be too costly and take too long and be like “NO LOOK NOT EVERY RPG IS THREE BOOKS LONG AND COSTS 90 DOLLARS SOME LITERALLY FIT IN A SINGLE PAGE LOOK!”, but I think that one-page RPGs function best when all (or at least SOME) of the people participating are already familiar with the medium and have some prior experience with more mechanically complex systems, and the reason they are able to be that minimal and short in the first place is because they sorta piggyback off of a lot of intuitive knowledge that they assume from the players and gm (if there is one).
Gonna be speaking primarily from the point of view as a GM because that’s mainly what I am, so sorry if I sorta neglect GMless games or solo journaling games or stuff like that here. Most one page RPGs that follow the traditional format of “group of players + GM” tend to be like. A few short steps for character creation, a simple core resolution mechanic, a description of the flow of the game, and usually nothing (or very very little) in terms of GM tools (at best a few GM principles and a couple of random oracles/tables). And like. Yeah, that’s more than enough to run and play a game, but IMO it’s probably not enough FOR A GROUP OF NEWBIES to run and play a game, because this level of extreme abstraction and mechanical minimalism it’s not inherently more newbie-friendly than the other extreme of high-crunch mechanical density.
The way I conceptualize mechanics, they are a tool to delegate decisions and rulings from the players and GM to the game system. Like, some games have HP so that the GM doesn’t have to decide and rule through pure narrative and logic how much violence everyone involved in a combat is able to withstand, etc. So like, obviously, less mechanics means the game takes less time to read, learn and remember, but there also comes a point where less mechanics means more specific, situational decisions piled onto the GM (or in case of GMless games, spread among the players) to attempt to rule fairly, consistently, and satisfyingly, and being able to make this kind of ruling is a skill that takes practice to develop. If you hand me a piece of paper that says the typical “The GM describes the situation, the players describe how they react and what actions they take, the GM describes how the situation changes in response. When the outcome of the players’ actions is uncertain or there are interesting consequences for failure, then [insert core resolution mechanic here]” I would probably be able to run a game off of that combined with my current GM skills, but if you had handed me that when I was just stating to dip my toe into RPGs, I would have probably be almost as intimidated as I’d have been if you handed me something dense and rules-heavy like Shadowrun.
Just some thoughts, idk.
