Drabble

Summary: Flora has something she needs to say to Fi and Sky

Sky wandered around Hateno, in no hurry. This lazy town was truly relaxing and he was keen to spend the day window shopping with Fi until dinner that evening. As he walked past the dye shop he noticed a new face. Flora was exiting the general store down the road, burdened with a single parcel.

Ever chivalrous, Sky ran to catch up to her, "Do you need any assistance Flora?" Flora started, "Oh, you're one of Link's new friends! I'm quite fine really, just grabbing some ingredients for dinner tonight " Sky fell in step next to her at a leisurely pace, "Perhaps I could join you on your walk?" Flora laughed and nodded her assent. It was several minutes before Flora spoke once again. "Actually, I've been meaning to speak with you about your sword, if you wouldn't mind sharing any details?"

Sky smiled, he loved talking about his best companion. "Of course not, ask away." "Have you ever... heard her speak?"

It was Sky's turn to act surprised. No one he had spoken to had admitted to hearing Fi. It had always been just him. "I-yes, actually. She was as real as you or me during my adventure. We would often speak at length about anything and everything." Sky laughed. "There was one time we debated on whether the sky was blue. It was a great way to pass the time during my journey. Why do you ask... have you heard her as well?" Flora looked away for a moment, seemingly lost in thought. Her voice quiet ,"only once, in a time of great need." They both lapsed into silence.

Sky would be lying if he said he wasn't curious, but it seemed a sensitive subject and he didn't want to push Flora. She must have sensed his curiosity, because she continued. "I would like to say something to her if you don't mind. It's rather important to me... Can she still hear us?" Fi hummed her assent in his mind before Sky could answer. "Yes, she's listening."

Flora paused again, collecting herself. Then she stopped and turned fully to Sky. Sky removed Fi from her sheath to make it easier for Flora to speak to her. "Master Sword, I do not know your true name but I would like to thank you for what you did for me and Link. Without your guidance in my time of need Link would not be here." She paused, taking a moment, " You gave me hope when there was none to be seen and for that I am truly grateful. Thank you...for everything."

Sky felt a lump in his throat. He would not cry,he would not cry- No one had ever thanked Fi before. Not like this. It was overwhelming. Flora looked Sky in the eye, "From what Link has told me you forged her?" Sky managed a nod. " Then I owe you thanks as well. You helped me save my friend. Thank you." Flora smiled, eyes shining with emotion.

Sky couldn't hold back if he wanted to. He rushed forward, embracing Flora in a crushing hug, paying no mind to her small bundle of groceries. Sky was openly crying now. Voice thick with tears he said, "I think I can speak for the both of us when I say, it was an honor, your majesty." Slowly, Flora returned Sky's embrace. They stood there for several long minutes until they separated. Flora and Sky both shared puffy red faces.

Suddenly, Flora gasped looking at the ingredients that had been smashed between them. "How am I going to explain to Link that I destroyed his stew ingredients!!?? He's going to wack me with his favorite spoon again!" Sky snorted, which caused Flora to wack his shoulder with an offended gasp. Sky laughed harder. Soon, both him and Flora were in a fit of laughter. Later, after another trip to the store, Wild would still assault them with his favorite spoon because they were "late and I almost burned the stew waiting for you!" Together, everyone would sit down and have a wonderful meal.
