#i think it's interesting that the british empire and the spanish empire were arguably the two greatest empires in history#until america came along#and america just happens to be a synthesis of the two#geographically nearly half of america was once spanish territory#and now a large share of america is hispanic in population#the synthesis is just get started#sorry i can't stop mythmaking#it's a compulsion#all day every day i'm just thinking about narratives and tensions and symbols and connections
