as people are rightly pointing out in the notes (although i'm not going to go reblog any of them bc i haven't got the spoons to do that on mobile browser here) YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE TRUE ANSWERS TO YOUR SECURITY QUESTIONS.

the bank isn't going to say "sorry, we know your mother's maiden name and it isn't that". they are NOT fact checking you. security questions are exclusively for the purpose of agreeing ahead of time on answers ONLY YOU WOULD GIVE.

i repeat: the answers to your security questions NEED NOT BE TRUE. in fact, they need not even be RELEVANT.

the only thing that matters is that you are the only person in the world who knows to answer "what was your mother's maiden name?" with "sir waffleton the fourth" or "the secret tunnel from avatar" or "bingus stromboni". they can keep guessing your mother's ACTUAL maiden name as long as they like; having the real-life correct answer should NEVER give them the security question correct answer.

think of it less like a quiz question and more like a secret code.

I am assuming you are the same person who asked me this and the animal question, and I'm going to be honest, I'm not answering them. It sounds sus, and they are legit security questions that many companies use to protect various accounts and I'm not going to give that information out.

I wasn't even going to answer, but decided I should in case I have Tumblr mutuals who are receiving the same anon messages with the friendly reminder of "please be careful regarding the personal information you give out on the internet!"
