hi love! i am working on a full-length fic where this is literally the entire plot omgomgomg, i'll post a little snippet here!

its still a wip so it wont be perfect but its first person perspective in this part, and i'm thinking of going back and forth between povs to show shig and readers sides equally.

also, reader is fem/afab, same age as shig, and alt. she has a quirk, too (not a healing one either).

this one does include quirks also! but it doesn't get into them for a bit, just a few convos.

i turn my phone back off and close my eyes, only to hear my phone go off again. i sigh, contemplating on ignoring it, but i lazily grab it anyways.

i frown at the message for a minute. this is the same guy who, about an hour ago, was screaming at me for not being fast enough in game, calling me a fucking pleb.

i type out a half-assed response but feel a ping of excitement inside of me. i fall asleep with my phone on my chest, waiting for a reply.

i wake up around 1pm, the daylight searing through my curtains. i feverishly reach for my phone, only to find it flung off the bed. i drape myself off the side to reach it, eager to read any messages.

i flit through the random notifications, only to find disappointment. i open up discord, wondering if maybe i just fell asleep with my phone on, but there's no response from him. i see him active and type out a message, ultimately deleting it. if he wants to respond, he will.

i haul myself out of bed and head to the shower, leaving my phone behind, slightly jaded knowing i was left on read. i let the warm water wash over me, soaking up the few minutes of peace before i exit and get dressed. i continue ignoring my phone until i hear a ping. i rush over to it, feeling slightly embarrassed that i'm this concerned already. i open discord again, expecting a message from him, but it's not there. instead, a string of messages from someone else sits unopened. my brows furrow and i open the dm confused.

Sorry for coming close to spamming with ur video essay tag (btw I love all the ones you've recced you have great taste) but I just saw ur posts abt verilybitchie's the handmaiden video and I gasped like same!!! We have films in my country that can encompass sort of what she talks abt in that video but they are so beloved by lgbts (like fire by Deepa Mehta) and i just had to stop watching her video after a while and left it incompleted because I just couldn't stand it!!

Thoughts on the current state of Facebook Groups...

✨ The end of Facebook Groups? Let's have some real talk about this... ( accompaniment to the FB Live vid ) . 😋 My FB live had to end because of buffering issues and what not - but here we go.... i'll write. . ... this minor debacle has been an excellent reminder to me about why I feel that the era of the true community focused Facebook groups is near. . I remember back ( around 3 years ago ) when I discovered Freedom Hackers®️ Mastermind #freedomhackers and it was such a cool place. At that time, there was a lot of collaboration, conversation, community and value. Kimra Luna who is rad BTW rules the group fairly - and offered value through it / used it to benefit her business BUT NEVER prevented others from driving conversation, sharing information and "networking" themselves in that group. . For that reason MANY people I know from that time - found friends and relationships in that group that went on to benefit our businesses and helped us grow. Although, you weren't allowed to "sell" in the group - you could talk about what you do and have done in an effort to offer your knowledge to others - it was great. . And - as many of would agree about three years ago there were many large groups like this. The need to have your own group wasn't as pressing because you could be just as successful networking and engaging in other people's groups BUT as far as I am concerned these days are gone and dwindling. . Here's my theory why - People like Kimra ( and others she wasn't the only one ) put out resources on growing your business "with a FB group" - sorry I cannot remember if it was free training or paid training. Many people used these resources - and then went ahead and created their own groups. . ❌ The problem: Unlike these existing groups where the host/founder already had a successful business and following ( who these groups were meant to serve ) LITERAL newbies would become group hosts - and position themselves as leaders - SOME ( and i have encountered this ) who didn't even have clients or a biz of their own and BELIEVED they would build a group and then sell to the group that would become their business model. . When this happened - the rules about "how people could engage" in groups became tighter and tighter. . People with value to offer because of their knowledge and experience were expected to have "their own group" - if they wanted to talk about what they did. . The group host - became the only one allowed to offer anything and teach - and people with slightly sized groups became protective - OMG if they get a fan from your group, how dare they, they've somehow stolen money from you. . The consequence was that rather than people coming together in community groups became "Fan Clubs" - and the target demographic for group hosts ( who they wanted in their group ) were people just slightly beneath them career-wise... so that they could help those people level up - and then the people in the group would "worship them" as the group leader. . 👉 This was so common- that everyone with value to offer created their own group to do the same. And this became just the norm for groups - the truly ✔️ conversational ✔️ collaborative ✔️ valuable ✔️ community-focused group, gradually became extinct. . Next - we also had graveyard groups - copy and pasters ( who just copy and pasted generic posts into groups ) - copycat nearly identical groups - and just a bunch of other bullshit.... . People who once used groups to find like-minded people grew gradually frustrated - and that's where we are now.. . Oh and BTW Facebook noticed and made group posts sanctioned in reach because so many people were spamming and marketing in them. . Where groups used to have more reach than pages - FB now sanctions posts in groups in reach ( like everything else ) have added advertising to groups and boost features. So yeah, a once good thing is now dead. Good work internet. Don't doubt for a minute that "we" ruined it. . I bring this up and share my thoughts on this because - I honestly don't have a solution. My personal response to it is to share my best stuff on my personal profile and keep that public so that cool people can discover me... And yah know what... so far so good. . But - perhaps we can have a conversation now and start talking about turning FB groups around? Maybe from this experience that I have had ( and others are saying they can relate to ) we can come up with ideas and solutions that are mutually beneficial for all? . *passes mic* 🎤
