I know it's such a basic film school sort of reading of severance to say it but I still love how the actual severance sequence shows you the focal length changing. how the innies are at a much shorter focal length in comparison to their outies so literally their world shrinks when they go down that elevator and even though it widens when they come back up even though they seem more human and their lives more full with the wider focal length they're drowning in empty space as a result and ultimately more hollow than their innies lives are.
