#read this on a complete whim but i found it very absorbing#i think the comedy is actually quite funny and i liked seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff about stand-up#this is actually a pretty intense novel since a LOT of it is about the main character's abusive boyfriend#but i think that was handled sensitively#one thing i wasn't sure about is that a few of the comedians the main characters befriends#soooort of felt like they mostly existed to explain racism in stand-up comedy to her#because they felt less fleshed-out than some of the other side characters#i think i will definitely go read some other stuff by katie henry in the future though#this will be funny someday#books#lulu speaks#lulu reads#2023 reads#lulu reads this will be funny someday
