#read this on a complete whim but i found it very absorbing #i think the comedy is actually quite funny and i liked seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff about stand-up #this is actually a pretty intense novel since a LOT of it is about the main character's abusive boyfriend #but i think that was handled sensitively #one thing i wasn't sure about is that a few of the comedians the main characters befriends #soooort of felt like they mostly existed to explain racism in stand-up comedy to her #because they felt less fleshed-out than some of the other side characters #i think i will definitely go read some other stuff by katie henry in the future though #this will be funny someday #books #lulu speaks #lulu reads #2023 reads #lulu reads this will be funny someday
