So I finally caught up with WWDITS!!!! And then made the very very bad decision of thinking about it while trying to get to sleep so now I've gotta write it all out in the hopes of getting it out of my system :')
Spoilers below~!
* I thought this at the end of season 4 but I like that Guillermo was able to turn into a vampire before the final season! It implies that despite it being his conscious, stated objective, it's not *actually* what the show is about. And as for what iis...?
* Normally I dislike 'immortal forsakes their eternal life to be with human' stories because they're always so much more about suicide than the story wants to admit. But the final episode of s5 makes it very clear that being a vampire necessitates murdering innocent people. There's no other feasible way. Not being a vampire is still sorta suicide, but it's also saving lives. With that, I think the final season will end with Nandor becoming a human, somehow.
* If nothing else, we've seen them both as vampires, now. Doesn't it make sense to see them both as humans too?
* I like that Guillermo's kindness and compassion are valued. And I like the idea that that could also be a part of it: that rubbing off onto Nandor, at least a little. The fearsome soldier prince falling for the pacifist human familiar (...who also has Van Helsing blood but Yknow). That's nice. :)
* The surface conflict for s6 though is... what is Guillermo going to do now? He *really* doesn't have any reason to stay anymore. So I can see one of two possibilities: Nandor trying to push him away first, or Nandor trying in increasingly ridiculous ways to earn Guillermo's affection and loyalty again as a friend.
* Despite his revelation about friends dying in the last episode (he thought of Guillermo as a friend!!! And even said it!!!!!!) I could see the pushing away part being just the plot of episode one, and the rest of the season being him struggling to convince Guillermo he really does see him as a friend and not a servant.
* Meanwhile, Guillermo stays for... entirely reasonable and sensible reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with his little crush on Nandor being even greater than he thought. And realising that all the times he admired Nandor's vampirely ways, maybe that wasn't so much a 'wanting to be' situation as a 'wanting to have' situation. (Same with Antonio Banderas.)
* C'mon. They've gotta kiss. They've GOT to.
* I actually do predict this having a mostly positive (if inherently kinda bittersweet) ending? But I wouldn't be totally opposed to a tragedy, so long as we get at least some confirmation of their shared feelings.
* Just... don't pull a fucking Destiel on me. If this show ends without Nandor ever once making clear he has big-time romantic feelings for Guillermo, I'm gonna be PISSED AS.
* But I don't think they will! And I am Very excited to see what happens...!!
