right besties this is the Sign. I brought my harmonica to the dorms with me in hopes that I'd learn to play it whilst living the dorm life and haven't touched it since moving in. I'm Learning This Year

Frank Capra, writing a new movie: how about I make my male protagonist the Bestest Boy ever. Give that man good character, a kind spirit, a servant heart for the poor and needy, an important role to play in his family and community, hands that ain't afraid to work hard, and lots of heartbreak he'll have to go through. For Character Building. Also a nice little romance just to sweeten things a bit. But he shall be the Bestest Boy Ever

I love how everyone is encouraged to pursue their dreams and interests and hobbies, no matter how niche or zany or up the wall bonkers crazy in this household...... their little workshop with firecrackers and children's toys and who knows what else makes me SO happy :')

You Can't Take It With You, 1938 (5/5 stars)
The perfect movie at the perfect time. Will ALWAYS be down to watch this movie. Always. If this movie is playing I Will Be There with popcorn, my mug of tea, and tears in my eyes. The comedy is perfect, the drama is perfect, the Vanderhof family is the perfect balance of whimsical and borderline bonkers and endearing and ever so kind, the message is shining and bright and true without being cheesy or over the top, the disasters are treated with sobriety and gravity and the triumphs with heart-glad joy, the ending was perfect, the LOVE was perfect. I laughed SO hard I thought I might choke (it was so lovely and I missed my grandfather), and then I cried so hard my chest hurt (it was so lovely and I missed my grandfather). What else do you want me to say!! It was perfect!!

If I had a nickel for every Frank Capra movie where Gary Cooper plays an earnest, down to earth average Joe character with a heart of gold who starts off wanting to be literally anywhere else, is pulled into a conniving scheme against his will but agrees due to necessity, falls in love with a girl who is half-involved in manipulating him in said scheme, breaks things off with the girl because he's been betrayed by her and is still a man of Principle, has this one guy friend who doubts and believes in him at turns, makes a grand triumphant and somewhat grim-faced speech, and is so willing to knock heads together, I'd have an astonishing two nickels

I Love that this movie starts with people's prayers literally going up to heaven. This story is just one big answered prayer isn't it

lighting is one of the prettiest parts of black and white movies (right up there with Dramatic Effect). the light coming through the window as the rain comes down and Ellie gets into bed is like liquid gold

ohhhh what a Capra-esque scene..... the spooky abandoned house, spruced up... his friends helping Mary out to organize this... the 'Bridal Suite' sign... the chicken roasting over the fire... the record player... the honeymoon posters on the walls... Mary standing there with tears in her eyes saying, "Welcome home"......
