hold me like a grudge
When Jason cheats and blames his infidelity on Chrissy refusing to sleep with him, step one is to break up with him. Step two, obviously, is to jump Jason’s least favorite person in the world: Eddie Munson.
Given that Eddie’s had a stupid crush on this girl for years, well. He’s not about to say no.

Chapter Five
He’s staring at his feet, not at her, but she can see enough of his face to note the fierce furrow of his brow, the grim set of his mouth. His whole body is tense, like he’s a rabbit poised to flee the second it hears the fox.
You asked me to fuck you, not to date you, but just to lay it all out there, I—Id do it all with you.
What does that even—oh.
Her confusion melts away, replaced by a healthy dose of exasperation and a well of fondness fathoms deep, so deep it threatens to overwhelm her.
Oh. Oh, he’s an idiot.
He’s sharp and smart with a cutting wit, yes, but an idiot nonetheless.
“Give me your shirt.”
When he just stares at her with owlish eyes, she holds out her hand. “Give. Me. Your. Shirt.”
“Uh,” says Eddie, and he quickly pulls the Anthrax tee over his head and hands it over. Chrissy pulls it on. She’s not about to have this conversation with her boobs just out there, thank you very much.
He can stand there with his stupid, pretty chest on display. And his stupid, strong, pretty arms.
“You know,” she says, “I’m kind of mad at you.”
His shoulders hunch as his head jerks up. “Fuck. Really?”
“Eddie. I have been dating you this whole time. All thirty-eight and—” Chrissy pauses to check her calculations, though it doesn’t take long. Each precious second is burned into her memory. "Thirty-eight and a half days."
Eddie’s jaw goes slack and he practically sways on his feet. “Huh?”
“Oh my god,” she says, burying her face in her hands and sucking in a fortifying breath before looking at him again. “Eddie, do you think I read Tolkien and learn about freaking Dungeons and Dragons for just anybody? Do you think I make just anybody meet my mother?”
She’s pretty sure putting anyone other than her boyfriend through that ordeal constitutes cruel and unusual punishment.
“Oh,” he says, and the sheer, shaking relief in the syllable goes miles toward softening her exasperation.
