#sometimes I have concepts in my brain like they're swimming in some kind of primordial soup and they crystallize into ocs over time

Ok maybe a silly question…. But how do I make ocs?? I have a bunch of little people concepts in my head but like how detailed do they have to be for them to be an oc?? Sorry I know you’re mostly a linguistic/čumblr blog but your oc stuff interests me a lot so I wanna know a little about your process. Also sorry it’s like 4 in the morning.
If you rotate them in your head like they're a chicken in a microwave and find yourself thinking "wow...what a guy....such cool lil dude.." congrats, it's an oc! You can go on picking a name for them or put them in situations to figure out their nature in more detail but as long as you have at least a vaguely clear idea of the character, then why not, it's an oc
#with ocs the most important thing to ask yourself is always ''does it spark joy?''#personally i can't call character concepts ocs until they are somewhat developed#and are defined clearly enough for me to freely pull them out of my brain and imagine them in situations#generally my criteria are name-design-personality-history and they need at least two to be an oc and not a concept#sometimes I have concepts in my brain like they're swimming in some kind of primordial soup and they crystallize into ocs over time#but honestly it's whatever#I create new ocs incredibly fast with a lot of detail and am usually not satisfied until I've got them figured out#but it might be different for others
