I've been on such a friends to enemies to friends to lovers to strangers marylily kick recently. I keep thinking about them in Hogwarts and then them breaking up during the war.

BONUS for maximum angst: first crush marylene during marylily enemies era, secret jegulus during hogwarts, platonic jily during marylily lovers era, (kind of) romantic jily after hogwarts

Mary and Marlene.

So basically my first ever marauders fic was all the young dudes, loved that book, had a great time, the characterisations were so fun to read even tho that may not be my personal headcannons but like variety js the spice of life if we read the same thing again and again it would get boring.

Anyways this is turning into an ATYD spiel sorry i just dislike some of the criticsm people give it bc like there are allowed to be different takes thays how everything ever to exist has evolved. ANYWAYS.

When i read ATYD i loved loved loved mary and marlenes friendship and dynamic and i genuinely felt like they would be perfect. They made me feel what wolfstar made me feel, just the whole friends to lovers aspect of it. I saw Mary as straight in ATYD but felt like Marlene was DEFINITELY into Mary. Thus, a love grew for them. Anyways now i love them. Any fic about them, with any characterisation will be eaten up by me thank u very very much.

The ATYD version of them will always be special to me even tho nth happened between them i just loved Marlene in it and I coulD FEEL that she was into Mary. I was so disappointed when i realized they would indeed not be happening.

The downside to it is that i cannot enjoy dorlene whicn is a shame bc ik there are alot of great fics on dorlene BUT LIKE THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH WOLFSTAR i genuinely cant enjoy sirius and remus with anyone else and that stops me from reading fics i wanna read so i know i meed to GET OVER IT.

ive never personally like marylene, but i can see where your coming from. i always felt that wolfstar was mutual pining since the moment they met, and mary was marlene’s lesbian awakening. i do think you have some good points though. you could definitely feel that marlene has some feelings towards mary in atyd. if you want to break out of your marylene shell, i suggest reading wolfstar fics with background dorlene and marylily. xoxo
