Even the fucken IGN gave the campaign a 4/10 LMAOAOAOAO 😭😭
Apparently it's the lowest campaign score ever in the entire CoD series. Yikes 😬
OCM IS NOT IT.

I agree with all of this! But I also want to give some perspective from someone who plays a lot of video games and is dating someone who was a big COD guy as a kid: (I'm sure quite a few of us in this corner of the fandom also play COD, so I would love to hear others chime in, but I do think these represent the gamer side of COD pretty well)
Beware mild spoilers!
People who are in it for the gameplay hate it. Firstly, the campaign is lackluster: it's incredibly short, and nowadays, gamers expect story campaigns to be at least 5 to even 10 hours. Is that realistic? Does that suit all types of games? Does that make for a healthy work environment in video game studios? No, but it's kind of the expectation for an AAA (triple A) game nowadays. (For those who don't know, a triple A game are games with huge budgets produced by big, well-known studios and huge teams of developers.) In this case, I think most people would agree that not only was this campaign short, but it was boring and not very well written. There's also not really a fun, off-the-wall or memorable mission like Gaz's helicopter fall or Alone from MW2. (Also, I'm mad as hell that they brought Yuri back for a SINGLE CUTSCENE and he just fucks off. Doesn't even come back for the final fight against Makarov.)
Low-effort. Reused assets galore, recycled mechanics from multiplayer, and entire maps just plonked into the campaign from Warzone. Verdansk, from the flashback 4 years ago when the 141 first captured Makarov, was released as a multiplayer map just a few weeks ago. Boo. BOO.
You're always going to get fans of a certain franchise who are diehards who are always going to praise every single entry in the series. I tend to have a more nuanced outlook on these diehard fans: gamers tend to be incredibly cynical and negative, and the diehards usually have some salient points to make. But in this case, I feel like people praising the campaign have just set lower standards. Not a bad thing, but also doesn't mean the campaign doesn't suck. COD can and has done better in terms of story and gameplay.
People have generally enjoyed the reboot's characters. We're definitely not the only people who are thinking "hey, you killed Soap off in the stupidest way possible".
Unfortunately, I doubt Activision will say a word or even care. They make their money off the backs of COD players who will always buy the game no matter what, despite any grumbling. Their meat and potatoes is Warzone (multiplayer) and selling COD points (the digital currency). Also, for those of you who don't play video games, Activision-Blizzard is an awful, awful company. Not just in terms of lazily rushing games, overworking their developers, and unethical business practices (which all does happen. Don't get me started on unethical business practices because I'll be ranting for thousands of words). But Activision is especially heinous because of the allegations of abuse and harassment that came out against the company a year or two ago. Like some truly creepy-ass shit: google "Activision breast milk theft" if you want to feel a little sick to your stomach. And that's only ONE FACET of worker abuse at the company. (CEO Bobby Kotick you will burn in the fires of hell!!!) Activision doesn't care about their employees or their players, so I unfortunately I can't see them giving a shit about the backlash :(
i just think it’s crazy how everyone, including like regular ass youtubers/content creators, hates the mw3 campaign. i know we’re all like … newer to cod stuff (like here from mw2) but i wonder if activision or whoever r like actually going to respond to the backlash?????
im actually super curious about that too! but i searched some stuff on twitter yesterday and found a couple people praising the campaign - literally saw a guy call it “heartwrenching”??? - so it’ll be interesting to see WHO dislikes it yk
i personally think you can only really gain by making your campaigns more well written and you characters more fleshed out. the 141 reboot is (to my knowledge?) the first time they’ve ever really given characters some depth, and look at what the internet did with that! it’s great marketing when people can actually talk about your characters, not just the FPS part of the game
#activision has been in hotter water than this#there are few video game companies more despicable than activision-blizzard#fuck you lazy assholes!! give your developers more time to work!#rant
