books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or....... i guess comics, these days, but i HATE READING COMICS they juST HAVE MORE COMPELLING FANDOMS. book fandoms are PUNY nad everyone is STUPID. youd think actual literary fandoms would have reading comprehension and understanding of literary critique but no!!!!!!!!!!!!! its literally my eternal fuckign struggle. somehow comic fandoms hit the perfect medium between compelling, readable content and the enthusiasm of cartoon fans without the childishness of cartoon fans

this isnt really a thing i do. the only time i associate characters w songs is my own ocs. barbies theme is miltons tower from the what remains of edith finch soundtrack!

i have also never really been one to project myself into stories. its just not how i consume media. i think sollux and rose already closely resemble the kinds of friends i make, so maybe them?

i dont even know if i want to answer this question bc its so fucking humiliating LKJSNDLFSDNFSDF the truth is yes. i am solely responsible for. a lot. particularly in the pjo fandom. i created several crackships ground up all on my own way back in 2014 and developed a following for them and i. dont wantto tell you what those ships were. LSKJDFNSLDJNSDFSDDF ive also pioneered many ship tags for other fandoms and i ship a lot of rarepairs and stuff but i dont think im RESPONSIBLE for them?? in that some ppl already were into them/talking abotu them or tht theyre still not popular (augh. to the ones that became popular) but i AM liTERALLY responsible for some crack shit in the pjo fandom and its. it haunts me sometimes. i dont want to talk about it. IF YOU REMEMBER WHAT I DID NO YOU DONT

this is so vague. my headcanons are shifting and nebulous and aus are my constant companion in everything, but uhhhhhhghhusjkdjnsdg i think. roxy writes the same way dave draws comics. its extremely memey and meta and self aware and largely just for the personal lolz, and were all doing her a disservice by pretending her writing looks like roses, when in reality dirk is probably the one whod make comics the way rose makes books (which is probably why he doesnt make comics). its more of that thing where roxy and dave are the same and rose and dirk are the same ykwim. well YOU dont corvus but im sure someone else does

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

jason takes after bruce in terms of like. adopting entirely too many kids. he broods

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

harvey is a heartwrenching character when written well, with a complicated view of morality, heartbreaking ties to our main hero, and a lot of internal conflict. something about such a hopeful character deadset on making a different in the system becoming a victim of it, and the potential he has as a vehicle for critiquing the law.

percy is my favorite character from pjo bc it was the very first time in my life i ever read a book and saw myself in it. hes aggressive, impulsive, and rebellious, he fidgets and has a hard time standing still, he acts on emotion without always thinking it through, he gets in trouble in school and hands his mom a murder weapon to kill his stepdad, hes just... hes a lot of the things ive always gotten in trouble for, things i couldnt help being, and hes a hero. he means everything to me.

vriska, i will maintain until the day i die, is one of the best homestuck characters- maybe just characters?- ever written. shes dramatic, shes impulsive, shes manipulative and mean and creative, and shes just so messy about it. shes a mean girl in a way that feels real, where her trauma impacts and shapes her as a person, and shes complex, with warring wants, and people she cares about, and dreams, and shes so messy. shes rough and rude and shes doing what SHE wants to, being a version of herself that feels right to HER, rather than some caricature of the hot badass evil lady. shes thirteen!! and she FEELS thirteen. shes a thirteen year old weird girl who is kind of an asshole, and she means literally fucking everything to me. shes a pirate!!!!! shes a swashbuckling badass dressing up in her larping outfit and yelling at her friends on the playground to swab the deck and she is the bestest ever, the end.

i didnt mean for each one of these to be longer than the last but here we are.

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

i hate jdedave peace and love it just feels weird as hell to me. dave, for the most part, is hyper respectful of other peoples choices and boundaries but when it comes to jade hes always trying to mke choices for her, to protect her, and it gets to the point where even jade points out how much it bugs her. jades crush on dave also seems to come from a place of misunderstanding to me, admiring a lot of the parts of himself that he exaggerates and pretends to care about as a result of trauma. it always felt like a kid crush that they shouldve grown out of with time. dave also just sort of seems to... go along with whatever romantic relationships people push him into at that age, rolling with whoever flirts with him jsut bc hes trying to maintain the image of a player, so its really hard to take him seriously any time he hits on someone?

that is just my interpretation of it tho

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

well. i havent finished my reread of homestuck, so that feels difficult to comment on just yet, bc im sure ill have a different opinion when i do finish it. no one in dc gets character arc bc theyre all just undone immediately, so thats like. yeah. and in pjo the arcs are pretty weak bc 1) kids books and 2) RICK UNDOES THEM ALL. AUGH. regardless of all of this, i am going to say jason grace. he had a lot of development in like the last two hoo books, or maybe just like.... hints of how he couldve developed? promise? which rick immediately set fire to in toa when he killed him, but fUCKING WHATEVER. UGH.

anyway actually tho eleanor from the good place. bisexual icon. queen. probably one of the best character arcs of all time. the episode w her mom has some of the most powerful fucking dialogue ever and i think about it. all the time. i should rewatch the good place.....

Listen, i may still be on ch 8 (as im posting this) of sea of monsters (and hyperfixating on hazbin hotel….again 😭), but yall….just bc solangelo isnt the solangelo yall wrote fanfics abt & hc….they’re NOT your characters in the first place. In fact, I’d argue tht it’s just as good as the couple of canon complaint fanfics i read.

And same thing for the ppl complaining abt “ep 6” and lemme just say, i actually think the change for ep 6 is actually a good thing bc the pay off is gonna be worth it and so much more intense than in the books, like i see the vision now tht i’ve finished lightening thief.

Also something to consider, in order for characters (and relationships) to grow and develop….they need to have FLAWS……ik crazy concept. Like, they literally had their first fight, addressed everything tht was bothering them afterwards, PERSOPHONE AND WILL LITERALLY HAD A HEART FELT TALK ABT MAINTAINING A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP, and still have the same humor and sass/ banter idk wat yall want. Oh and Will had his moment to shine as well (literally and yes pun intended). Also, love tht nico is the one who’s bringing up modern pop culture references/ memes like are fans srsly complaining abt tht? It’s fitting since it’s showing he’s catching up on modern times and is in a happier place now than before. (Ik he listens to techno pop, but i also see him being a fan of new wave and alt rock (90s specifically), omg i just realized im hc him to have the same music taste as my mom 😀 (besides her also now a kpop fan and it may or may not be my doing. Speaking of, for some reason, i think abt nico (and maybe hazel) listening to red velvet and 2ne1 dont ask why, after i catch up on the rest of the pjo series and know the characters a little better, i’ll do a hc of wat kpop groups the characters would listen to and if they do).

Anyways 😅 look, ik tht ppl have different preferences on how a story is told and not everyone’s writing is gonna be perfect (or at suzanne collin’s and hajime isayama’s level of storytelling idc wat objections yall have like those stories are MASTERPIECES despite aot’s ending having some plot holes but tht’s a dif convo), but imo, rick did a good job balancing mature and dark themes with lightheartedness and found family for both preteens/teens and young adults to enjoy (if they allow themselves to tht is). Point is, despite ppl having dif preferences of storytelling and criticisms, it gets annoying wen some of yall start projecting too much on your wants. Or just dont keep up with the series anymore, like i was a big fan of miraculous ladybug, but i stopped following years ago bc thomas astruc fucked it up (also, this is why you shouldn’t solely rely on fan’s hcs wen writing your stories) im still salty tht he ruined chloe’s potential redemption arc but here we are 🙃

Damn, cant believe i went from watching the movies (thought it was a fever dream tbh) to ppl complaining abt annabeth’s actress to my mom hyping up the pjo show to accidentally stumbling upon pjo tiktok (and for some reason solangelo) and now im pulling an all nighter trying to finish the first 5 books by the end of this week (at least).

Actually so mad at all these grown ass people ridiculing tsats and nico and will for not acting like adults?? They're 2 traumatised 15 years olds, they're navigating their first relationship while navigating their traumas and being dorks because God forbid a teenager acts like a teenager and not a 31 year old.

I gotta say.... I dislike the condescending attitude ppl get w their younger selves or younger fans, esp regarding "cringey" reactions to minority representations in fiction for younger people.

like I understand that as ADULTS we can recognize that a character is more than their sexuality, gender, and/or race and its important to have those conversations with other adults. but idk, being rude or cruel to teens maybe going over-the-top bc a character comes out as canonically gay and focus solely on that aspect that's.... just teenage psychology. it's not cringey, it's sure as shit not problematic, it's just... natural.

like 100%, as a deeply repressed and closeted gay kid in high school, had I read PJO and associated books, I would have been hella cringey about Nico. I really would. bc honestly, a lot of his stuff isn't relatable to 99% of teens. but being queer? that is relatable to A LOT of them.

idk i guess if we're seeing adults being weirdos about minority rep in books, movies, or TV shows certainly call that out... but adults talking down to teens and their teen selves about that same thing is just... idk I feel like it's unfair at best, cruel at worst...

okay so now part 2!! ill just talk about more pilots :-)

Clarisse/Silena: Divine Slayer (i kinda love this name lol)
 -literally both a huge surprise and like also not a huge surprise when they became co-pilots
 -look guys they balance each other out okay Clarisse has got the force while Silenas got the moves (i know that’s not really how jaegers work but it’s just how they think of each other)
 -also Divine Slayer is def pink Silena would have it no other way she wanted to be a strong role model for strong girly girls like her 
 -clarisse let it slide bc 1)she loves silena hello? and 2)she hides it by saying it’s a light red
 -Silena has also painted flowers on both sides of the Conn-pod (i had to look up what it was called lmao) for her enjoyment and Clarisse lets it slide again :-) 
 -like i said earlier they were #1 with the merch and fans but then percy and annabeth came along with a newer model so they’re bumped to number 2
 -Silena couldn’t care as long as she still gets her clothing lines but Clarisse is p bothered but Silena calms her down :-) 
 -look u guys….. i feel like Silena might have to die in this au…like if it ever makes it into an actual fic w actual plot i think she’d die like super heroically like u know saving the world 
 -it’d be like the aussie guy in the movie like Clarisse would be unable to pilot w her bc she’d be injured so Silena would die but not Clarisse :c

now let’s bring in some Heroes of Olympus characters!!
 Leo -like i said earlier Leo is tech builder guy and works behind the scenes on every jaeger and has a strong attachment to them
-like of course the pilots name them but he can get offended if 1)they don’t take it seriously (rarely happens but they joke around sometimes) or 2)they give them a bad name
-leo straight up forbid Percy and Grover to name their jaeger Blue Cookies (which was a joke but i mean cmon if they could’ve they would’ve)

Frank -Frank’s mom was military and so was he before all the kaiju stuff went down
-at first he wanted to pilot but realized it’s way to impersonal for him (giant human robot vs giant alien =/= normal combat) so he becomes a trainer instead 
-bc he was in military before it started he was with the jaeger program like immediately so although he’s young he helped train most of the main characters :-) 
-he also helped Annabeth out w choosing pilots before she became one, now it’s his sole responsibility

Hazel -i think Hazel would be in the press loop with Grover, i mean she has a gentle soul so i don’t think she’d be a pilot (plus who would she be with?) 
-she’s not even mad like she’ll train w Frank and others some days to keep in shape if a pilot is needed stat and that’s all the fighting she needs cos it’s actually fun and not life or death (hi i think she’s afraid of death)
-also this way neither her nor Frank are on the field and although they’ll never say it they are both thankful for that small difference in safety
-also in this au ages are weird they’re all gonna be in their 21+ range so no weird age gap between them

How I entered/learned about the said game/show/movie/etc of that fandom: The movie. It has at least that quality :D (and tbh it was hilarious)

Fave character: Nico /what a shock

Least fave character: Hmmmmmmmm, can’t think of anyone... I might have said Apollo for the cringe-inducing, but ToA made me adore him, so... Maybe the cheerleaders empousai, if only bc they always mean Bad Times. 

OTP(s): Will/Nico, Jasico and Percico still tho, Frank/Hazel/Leo, Clarisse/Silena, Reyna->Annabeth... and I’ll stop here for now.

Pairing that everyone likes but I don’t get: I do find Annabeth/Percy cute in the books but I wouldn’t go read a fic solely about the ship. I also don’t really get most Jason ships outside Piper, Percy and Nico...

Fave thing about the fandom: Clever takes on mythology, messing with the book canon to make it better. (Also love that the canon is getting better by itself.) ALSO CANON GAY KIDS, THAT’S A GOOD THING TO HAVE IN FANDOM.

The most despised thing: a loooot of Nico fic is ... yeah.

If there is something I would change from said game/show/movie/etc., what would it be.: That one part where Nico talks about the Plato soulmates storyiuhmRick, darling, you did not get the original text for that one.Also make The Blood Of Olympus a lot more badass and more Hazel and Frank and more Pery actually fuckign up, more stakes, more losses, etc. NOT A SINGLE CHANGE to Nico and Reyna’s parts though.
