Sometimes I forget how scary DDLC actually was. After not interacting with the original media for so long and seeing so many memes, fan songs, and other stuff like FNF mods you start to forget that not only was it fucking terrifying both at the time and still is pretty scary. Not only that but you forget just how much of a trailblazer it was, it most certainly wasn’t the first game with meta elements, it was definitely one of the more influential when it comes to meta games along with other stuff like OFF and Undertale. Nowadays it’s pretty neat but other games have done similar stuff, though a lot of it today still isn’t as crazy as the shit in DDLC. Like you’re telling me you can delete Monika before starting which makes Sayori the club president and simultaneously self aware, giving her an existential crisis and then she crashes the game and when you boot it up again she’s killed herself and it’s an ending???? And that’s not a standalone thing, there’s like a whole bunch of shit you can do to the files and stuff added to the files throughout the game. And not only do you have to look through the files sometimes you have to decode the files to find images and QR codes and shit. Wild game, I always forget how insane it was and still is.
