My Mystic Messenger AU
So simply put, I have six (now seven) different MC’s for the Mystic Messenger universe. Each one caters to each RFA (Unknown/Saeran/Ray being an exception) and actually is different from each other, aside from the Choi twins. Here, I’ll be giving you their back story and explain a few blank points.
☺ Yoosung Kim’s MC: Da-Hui Yi
Despite coming from a higher leveled Middle class family, she grew up to be quite down to earth due to the lack of communication between her parents and her were. She was never pampered nor spoiled, as her parents were too busy at work to provide for their child’s education. While lacking any sort of love and affection from her parents, she was considered a hopeless romantic and found herself falling and being in love with someone in high school.
Unfortunately, the male she fell in love with was highly possessive as well as abusive, which caused a rift between her and her friends due to him dragging her away from them. She finds out in their last year that he was only with her due to the money her family has and she ultimately breaks up with him after exchanging a few punches in the process.
She attends SKY University while undergoing therapy and grows interested what her therapist does in the process. Her once undecided career path was molded into that of a Psychology major in order to help those like her.
Parenting Style: Negligent parenting
♪ Hyun Ryu/ZEN’s MC: Da-Yeong Yi
She comes from a poor family, barely able to handle paying their bills each month. She grew up without luxury that most children had and was shopping at the thrift shop/GreatWill for her clothes. Due to the lower quality of these clothes, they often ripped which had caused her to patch them up each time. She finally began work once she reached the average age of consent, but was later fired due to being late. She found herself jumping from job to job, only to find herself being fired each time, which caused her to slowly lose confidence in herself.
Parenting Style: ???
♥ Jaehee Kang’s MC: Da-San Yi
Da-San comes from a family of tea traders that, in the current time, is now a popular tea company. He was actually sickly growing up and was often picked on for being weak, effeminate and well off. This along with how his parents want him to learn management from a young age caused him to stress and have mild trauma along with hatred to his family’s company. He tried to explain how he wished to move away from the family business, but was brushed off countless times and reprimanded for thinking such when he is the “heir to the throne.”
Parenting Style: Authoritarian
♣ Jumin Han’s MC: Da-Hyeon Yi
She grew up in an average home with strict parenting. She was sheltered and forced to focus on her studies instead of socializing which followed her all throughout her school life. Even within college, she distanced herself from others and focused on pursuing medicinethe course her parents wanted her to go through—instead of following her heart and pacing herself to find what she really wanted to do. After graduating, she works within a pharmacy for a few months before leaving and running away from home.
Parenting Style: Authoritarian
♠Saeran (Unknown/Ray) and ♦Saeyoung (707) Choi’s MC: Da-In and Da-Eun Yi
NOTE: Saeran’s MC and Saeyoung’s MC is the exact same person, undergoing a different name and different paths in their differing timelines.
Da-In/Da-Eun grew up in a “normal” household until the age of five, when her mother decided to leave the family, as she thought life had grown boring and dull. She grew close to her father, only to have him taken away nearly a year later for being the suspect of the murder of her mother.
She was placed into an orphanage and attended a private school, only to find herself distancing herself from others for “not understanding.” Upon adoption, she found out that her thoughts were twisting into that of her late mother, finding that life itself was boring and dull.
Parenting style: Negligent?
As Seven’s route is the canon route (be that it unlocks the Secret endings, etc.), his and Unknown’s MC stray from the norm and becomes something… unique?
See, Unknown’s MC starts with the very first Bad End from the Prologue. She then continues to go through force RESET’s by Unknown in order to torment Seven. (Following the well known Error: 707 Theory, both Saeyoung and Saeran are the Error 707’s due to being twins. Saeran, however, believes that the memories from the past routes are just dreams until he looks into the RESET in Da-In's version of the Messenger.)
Upon finishing Seven’s BAD END 3, he questions her if this is what she really wants; for him to suffer, for her to suffer and for Saeran to continue to suffer despite his self-proclaimed delight. She realizes that, despite not knowing what she has done in the past timelines, she just wants to be happy with the one that cares about her—that being Saeran.
The Secret Endings take place and, instead of this MC being with Saeyoung, she is with Unknown and is undergoing therapy with him. They conclude that this reset that they plan to do will be the final reset, and we are taken into Seven’s route.
Now, on to the blank points after the individual routes’ Party:
☺ Da-Hui and Yoosung support each other after the whole shindig with Mint Eye. Da-Hui often played the mother-like role to Yoosung, keeping him in line to work on his studies and entertained him when they had no classes and free time. The two graduated earlier than expected and she now works as a therapist.
♪ Da-Yeong works two jobs now on top of being the RFA coordinator: Being Zen’s manager and being designer! She was able to attend school thanks to Zen and her manager position (due to the money being earned, not being connected to people). She is capable of designing clothes with cheap-yet-nice fabric and unique clothing that can be easily bought and worn for those with an extremely low budget. She also enjoys being with Zen nearly 24/7.
♥ Da-San finally decided to take on his path as the heir of his family business… However, since he is the new boss, he can now do what he wishes. He merged his family business with Jaehee’s coffee shop to work on the things he wishes to do with less hassle. Although he’s still clumsy with coffee, Da-San has Jaehee to help teach him the ropes and vice versa.
♣ Da-Hyeon and Jumin marry soon after the Party and she is able to work as a simple housewife… at least, that is what Jumin wanted her to do. Da-Hyeon insists that Jumin allows her to help around the office every once in a while AT LEAST, which he begrudgingly allows. She often helps Jaehee with work and takes care of anything that Jumin may have missed. She also tends to cook for him and makes Chef run for his money.
♠ Da-In and Saeran are now taking group therapy. She talks about her times as a child, growing up being judged and ridiculed, adding on how her mindset had slipped into that of her detestable mother in order to let off some pent up anger and overcome such hurdles. Although she herself is strong-willed, she is still has a hard time coming to terms that it is okay to be “weak” and to talk things out. She insists to be by Saeran’s side during this time and encourages him to pace himself to change (and by doing this, encouraging herself to do the same.) The two are still socially awkward, but are slowly beginning to see a brighter future. The two and Saeyoung decided that they would do a final RESET in order to set things right and have a GOOD END to put the reset to rest.
♦Da-Eun, who goes by ERROR: 404 in the chat, was able to overcome the boring and dullness of life soon after joining the RFA. She wanted everyone to be happy, even Saeran, whom she had a strange feeling of remorse for. She was told by Saeyoung that the feeling stemmed from the previous timeline, as she was with his brother, and her other selves were with the other members. By the end of Secret End 2, she and Saeyoung married at the Space Station and helped Saeran with his recovery, with the three finally being able to smile naturally with each other’s’ and the other RFA members’ company. She still has trouble when it comes to her past (especially when she hears about people being bullied for their family,) however. Recently, she started thinking about how V never had a happy ending, and thought about if she could do anything.
My MysMess AU timeline order
Yoosung Kim → Hyun Ryu/ZEN → Jaehee Kang → Jumin Han → Prologue Bad End → Saeyoung Choi/Seven Bad End 1 → Saeyoung Choi/Seven Bad End 2 → Saeyoung Choi/Seven Bad End 3 → Saeyoung Choi/Seven Good End (Ends up with Saeran) → Saeyoung Choi/Seven Good End → Jihyun Kim/V*
*V’s route is relatively different. I’ll get into that later.
