thinking of referencing the whole "is Keanu Reeves immortal?" thing in my novels
#in short my idea is ''a shapeshifter who can only do one face meets a movie buff from the year 3000 who's seen that face in bill and ted''#the long answer involves the shotant from tenesoir memoirs - living shadows who can read minds and meld together to form tangible things#the thing is shotant law forbids taking human form (the result of a complicated and sometimes violent history between human and shotant)#violators are cut off from the shotant hivemind forever which severely limits their powers#such folk will often go on living as humans--but ARE they human? or shotant? or something else? they're still immortal telepaths you see#so maybe keanu and these guys in these old portraits aren't shotant--but maybe a shotant does carry on the look past the apocalypse#so it's sort of a coincidence that this shotant happens to pick a form that someone far in the future recognizes#(and only because of her special interest in pre-apocalyptic movies)#lyla the movie buff is expecting keanu to be a highlander or smth but her nosing around still leads her to learn about the shotant
