Referencing the old aliens rumor for this, the part that always stuck out to me where Sycamore and Lysandre were meant to be the same person, it feels like it could have lead to a lot of funny art and memes. (Plus, PerfectWorld would have even more chaotic energy as a ship than it already does 😂)

Edit: the Teraleak has finally debunked this rumor after 10 years. Shame, I was kind of hoping for it to be true, despite always having my doubts. Still tho, lots of cool story ideas that were fun to play with.

hey, it's me! i'm still alive, somehow, though just barely. this semester has been pretty tough so far and will probably remain that way until spring. despite this, i managed to add some fun new features. : ) ALSO i promise 100000% that if you sent me an ask i WILL answer it. i will. anyway, look at all those cool things! -> a system for cuts, bruises, tattoos, wounds and other decorations your whumpee's skin is an empty canvas. whether you fill it with scars and wounds or cutesy band aids is up to you!

the way this is set up is kind of like a bunch of stickers. so for example, if you decide to hurt the lil' guy with something sharp, he'll get a "stab wound" sticker in the spot you decided to target. over time, that sticker will change over to a "stab scar" one. it's a very flexible way to do things, but it still needs some work and a couple big changes, since it's very unfriendly to low-end computers. in terms of visuals though, it should look exactly the same as the decal-based "decorations" for your whumpee that you see above!

- a better way of getting that dude on camera the camera system is now a lot more immersive and will fit the story. the awkward developer cam that could clip into walls is no more.

you can drag around the view and zoom in and out by scrolling. as you progress, you'll get access to even more ways to invade your whumpee's privacy. : )

-> new ways to get horny in the last devlog post (around 1000 years ago) i said that you won't see any "horny accessories" in the upcoming updates. that was a complete lie, sorry! here's a preview of some cool new horns you can give to your whumpee.

the neat part is that the horns are customizable - other than just choosing the shape, you can modify their size and color gradient. -> other stuff + story i've made plenty of changes and additions to the back end. most of it is not flashy or super significant - most of the time and energy i could dedicate to the project went right into fueling the violent, bloody conflict between me and custom shader code. i've also made some updates to how time is simulated and fixed a bunch of bugs. there is now a sound system too! i'll look for some copyright-free sfx and music before the next update. oh, and there's some lore too!

I know a lot of people find the religious "coexist" bumper stickers to be trite (I personally don't really), but I think I passed something objectively worse when I was driving around - a "no exist / imagine a future without religion" where the star of david occupied the X in "exist"

What more people ought to remember is that there is a huge difference between atheism and antitheism. Quite literally, we will never live in a world without religion. We've been practicing rituals such as burial of the dead for 130,000 for instance and while it's not inherently religious, there is often a proto-religious/oughtright religious component of believing in a "final rest" which ought not be disturbed, or a soul which will carry on after life and needs to properly be put to rest. We have been crafting amulets to ward off spirits, omens, and to invite joy, peace, and security since antiquity. This idea that everyone will simultaneously abandon all religion, therefore, can only read as a cultural genocide, at least, I think. Religion is part of culture - ask me how I know! Therefore, I'm very, very skeptical of people who just say to abandon religion as a project.

Was inspired to draw some art for this fic "Nascita di Venere" by @pink-november cause it gave me so many feelings (Please check it out, it is very lovely! 🩷)

Just the thought of Smitten struggling with his grief and having his ideal fantasy of true love be shattered, but also continuing to indulge in it as a coping mechanism gets me so. The way he wades into the ocean is a great representation of that. (Also Skeptic coming in to save him despite his fear of the water is great too! I love how supportive he is towards his counterpart.)

am i the only one bothered by how unserious an and haruka's bfes cards seem compared to the ones we've seen so far. the style is right up my alley but they just seem like normal cards to me

Actually yeah I was hesitant to bring this up but you are 100% correct. I'm withholding my judgement so far because 1) no full card yet 2) maybe their stories justify the way it's drawn but tbh I do feel let down. Compared to how somber and down-to-earth Rui and Kanade looked this really kinda rubs me the wrong way because I was expecting something of a similar style, and there's really no actual... Somber An card except for LUTF lmao. So this was part of why I was hesitant for An bloomfes and not as excited for it as I think some people expected me to be bc I had a particular wishful image for the card and wasn't really hopeful they'd do it. Sucks to see me being proven right though.

I won't say anything definitively for all we know it might tie into the story narratively but I was expecting something completely different. I mean like, look at them.

The new cards are not necessarily bad as much as they're different. It's not even about the style as much as it's about the scope and the composition; Rui and Kanade are relatively minor characters in a world that seems to reflect their inner state, they do not look at the camera in the same obvious way Haruka and An do. Rui is not directed at the viewer at all where Kanade is but she's also looking noticeably "beyond" the screen. Kanade's bloomfes is strikingly monochrome and colourless; Rui's colors are muted and realistic but neither pastel nor exaggerated bright like Haruka and An's are. Haruka and An also do not appear to interact with the world around them in the same emotional scope as Kanade and Rui do; while they are holding or interacting with something the items appear less symbolic and more generic. It's very easy to look at Kanade and Rui's bloomfes cards and pick them apart from the rest because something about them just seems... Different. Important. Standing out. An and Haruka, I don't think that is the case so far.

While we know from colorfes the common theme of the card stories does not necessarily reflect on the cards being similar, I do think it's completely fair to say that previous OC Bloomfes cards set up a certain standard and then did not deliver. It's hard to me to say why exactly because I can't pin it on fan service in the boy/girl character way; we do, however, know that Haruka and An are among less popular characters both in JP and fandom in general, so I don't think it's completely out there to say the company just straight up put less effort in their cards because they knew nobody would care that much, which is unfortunate.

I just hope the untrained and the card stories are good lmao.

Gotta keep on reminding myself that no matter how interesting the general idea is, I gotta avoid stuff that leads with some variation of "that's what's wrong with kids these days." It's one o them, whatchamacallits, no war but the class war situations or whatever. I'll probably still fuck it up sometimes though. But I figure extend the same courtesy to assume its like class or other influences factoring into conservative attitudes, which we give to old boomers, to also like... the youths or whatever.

Sorry for calling y'all "the youths," though. I thought it was funny a little.
