@every-moment-a-different-sound B A B E. for my bastard fic?
Tumblr media
(charles from this beautiful gifset) Robin!!! 💚 my love, my light, my sweetiepie, my crunchiest cocoa biscuit, my caramel waffle melting on top of a cup of coffee— when I say this is Halloween and Christmas coming early, I mean it! You're getting heart locked forever!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm flabbergasted and absolutely floored that you would take my debut fic and make it into this gorgeous gifset!! :") 💚
I made professional feedback in my little notebook:
oughhhhh awWOOOOGAAA oh my godddddddddddddddddddd
the colours you chose are so saturated with warmth and giddiness, they make me feel like I'm enveloped in a hug, which is very much on brand for the vibes of the fic!!!
the fonts are sweet and elegant, love the swirls on big letters, and the texture behind them! it gives them the twirl of extra speciality aaaa 3. the need to eat y
THE SCENES. I truly cannot say enough how pleased I am that The Hug(tm) made it, but also Charles' leaning on his arm! and the flirty smile from the 2nd gif!! and aaaaah, basically every time Charles was being a lovely bastard in canon, you included it. Amazing. Top Notch. Understood the assignment + swept the board + i'm kissing the winner (you) on the mouth for the Olympic gold
BLUE AND RED. YEAH I'M NORMAL
the cheeky look of Charles is like, the 4th wall break I kinda wish I did in the fic, because god yes, he's such a bastard about it. Edwin loves him so much. I love them even more. and with you, I'm planning our honeymoon to the seaside but that's not the point
the point is. the point issssss I love you. that's the point.
I shall hope you know I will find a way to print these out and tattoo them on my goddamn forehead.
If you happen to look through the dead gay detectives agency's door, you'll find me perched on the desk like this, kicking my legs, giggling etc:

it's not fair (cause you make me ache, you bastard) by @idliketobeatree
Summary:
So now there is Charles, trying to physically make himself the size of a dandelion sprite in Niko's mason jar to fit right into the crook of Edwin's better judgement. He should be sorry, given what he's done, but he has no qualms, takes no prisoners, the full arsenal of his unruly magnetism on display. What is left of Edwin is shredded into tiny iron filings and sprinkled on a sheet of paper. And if he stands in the middle of it, what is Edwin supposed to do? Not cluster along the flux lines? Impossible. (Charles uses the love card to get out of an argument, fucks around and finds out.)

GET TO KNOW THE MUN.
Tumblr media
respond to the prompts out of character!
what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? oh man. uh. i guess, following my url's general meaning, i choose to write muses on here that have defied their fates/expectations in some shape or form. this is true for more of my older muses on here, as i've definitely added some recently where i have to kinda twist that a bit. aside from that, i really just write muses that i can connect with on some level. my apparent calling is sad men who are prone to violence and are also incredibly sad/lonely. the mains i have floating in my head are usually there because it's the current media i'm consuming (i.e. star wars: the old republic). i could write long metas on why i adore all of my muses though. c':
is there anything you don’t like to write? uhh, you know. i'm actually pretty open to most things. i need some sort of action going on, regardless of the type, to keep interested i suppose. like, if there's a lot of conversation, i tend to get stuck. that's just because i struggle with it and i don't want to bore my partner, though. aside from that, pretty much any genre you throw at me, i'll be interested in writing.
is there anything you really enjoy writing? I'm a sucker for redemption au's, even if it takes thirty threads to get there. i enjoy writing the aftermath of a character's worst arc, and all of the guilt, pain, and sorrow that comes with it. so do i want to write arcann's redemption? yes. do i want to write about nihilus somehow healing from being a literal wound in the force? yes. (or even, writing who he was before malachor.) ragnar going back to being a farmer? please. all of it, yes. aside from that, i really, really enjoy hurt/comfort, violent/gore threads, general sci-fi adventure, and general fantasy adventure (the campfires, the fights, the enemies in between destinations, etc.)
how do you come up with headcanons?  it's kind of a mix between being inspired by outside sources, such as media, music, mututals, and things that pop into my head after hyperfixating about a muse for three straight hours or something. i do adopt headcanons/partial headcanons from other people, but like sparingly and if it's appropriate/i know them/have asked. most of the time i really just get hit in the face with them though.
do you write in silence or do you play music? i am someone that requires music to write. i need to drown out distractions however i can. i really struggle with being easily distracted (getting tested for adhd soon lol) because i can very easily lose a thought before i'm able to write it down. i find that with music i can focus better, and i have playlists that help with whatever mood i'm going for in the reply.
do you plan your replies or wing them? i usually just sort of write what comes to mind first and then, if i have questions about something, i'll either approach the other mun or write things in the tags. sort of referring to the previous question, i try to write my ideas down as soon as i see a reply, or i'll be prone to forgetting them.
do you enjoy shipping? yes, 1000% yes. i love all sorts of relationships, not only the romantic ones. i don't really get to write about platonic/friendships too often, but i really enjoy the times i can. that said, re: romantic ships, i'm usually on board if there's chemistry between muses. i also encourage other muns to approach me if they think they might want to ship because chances are, i'm already on board.
what’s your alias/name?  Lee
age?  old
birthday?  December 25th
favorite color?  silver, purple, black
favorite song?  i... don't think i can choose? there are all sorts of songs that hit me in the right way. i can tell you a song i'm listening to on repeat right now is The Wind Weeps Eleanor by American Murder Song.
last movie you watched?  Hagazussa: A Heathen's Curse, but I hope to go see Dune 2 this week.
last show you watched?  just started Shōgun and it's wonderful.
last song you listened to?  Dwamn by Tech N9ne 🫣
favorite food?  fry bread! or a step further: navajo tacos.
favorite season?  winter
do you have a tumblr best friend? um i think i'm close to a few people on here, but the only one i know i can tag for sure is @vuulpecula starbuck has put up with my nonsense on here for years and somehow still talks to me lmfao we have the greatest and the worst ships and honestly i am always always always excited to write with her❤️❤️❤️
and idk if i should tag u because this is an rp meme and this is one of my rp blogs but @oolathurman is my other bestie and i've known and adored them for literal years so. yeah sflkjdslf❤️❤️❤️

I've always been aggravated by the way Odin looks to so many people because of Marvel. (I've only seen any of the movies because I have a crush on Tom Huddleston) Why can't I find any articles or videos about how Marvel made Odin look bad?! I have worked with him before, and I've become very passionate about this.
Having a crush on Tom Hiddleston is completely understandable. I went to London (I live in San Francisco - a not-inexpensive 11 hour plane flight) to see him in "Betrayal". I get it. And he is even more charming and handsome in person . . . .
Oh, right, where was I? Right. Odin. Deity images. This got rather more expansive than I first thought, so I've added a cut to spare everyone's scrolling hand.
There likely are articles from people who are similarly displeased with Anthony Hopkins personifying the Allfather. I'm not sure how one would search for those; the search terms could vary wildly. My guess would be to find a Marvel forum thread from around the time the first "Thor" movie came out—there would probably have been intense debates between people who think he should have looked like a medieval woodcut, and people who think he needed more gold in his costume. Or find a thread on a Norse/heathen forum around the same time—you can probably find endless lamentations of the images of each of the characters in the film. (Thinking of someone who stated that Renee Russo couldn't play Frigga because she was "too pretty". Really glad that was an overheard comment, and not a discussion I was personally involved in.)
When an image comes from popular culture and the item (movie, book, etc.) is widely embraced, that image embeds in individual and collective consciousness. People who've never seen the movies will pick up on that image and perpetuate them. I understand it's aggravating when that's not how you see the being.
While you can't change the pervasiveness of the MCU image, you can channel your passion into creating and sharing an image that seems right to you. It may or may not achieve the same critical mass in the collective consciousness, but you have put forth your vision.
Not everyone is going to share the same perspective—that's why we have so many different representations of the same being, whether human, divine, or other.
For example, this is the image on my Odin altar. It's actually a sticker from Death Wish Coffee Company, which sent the sticker with my first order of Valhalla Java:
Tumblr media
It's a classic drawing of Odin. I left the "Odinforce Blend" words on it, because even though they refer to the coffee, it makes me think about what blending Odin's energies with other energies might produce. Other people might be offended that I'm using a coffee company sticker on my altar, but it works for me, and it's my altar, so it doesn't have to work for anyone else.
Work with the images that work for you. Try to let go of your aggravation, and let everyone else work with the images that work for them. If someone imagines Odin as Anthony Hopkins in a gold brocade robe, or in shiny armor astride a CGI Sleipnir, that's their choice. They may change their mind when they see a different image, and perhaps that image will come from you!

I am in love with all chaosified characters. Actually wait I lowkey wanna see if anyone has chaosified Gethen, was he already Chaos?? I don't know
Anyway I found the chaos Alden post! You can read it here
All I know about Gethen is that his vibes give me long hair, Sophie seems to think that he's the Real Villain™, he's Power hungry, he was bit by a dog and wore spandex, and that he should be very mentally unstable because of lumneria
-Heathen
This fits with everything I know about you as a person. I personally prefer more...logical chaos? That sounds like an oxymoron but I mean like chaos where you can find the thread and see how it all works together, and then it's chaotic and also horrifying because the chaos is so much bigger than you and you can see a part of it making sense and it's suddenly not so different from you.
Also I don't think anyone has chaosified Gethen! He's not been very present in the story so he mostly slips under the radar, but he could be important later. He isn't really chaos right now, but I'm certain that won't stop you. Right now i don't remember his hair length, but he was bit by a dog and dressed like a jogger. As for the mental stability...well really it's anyone's guess we haven't seen him in a while--hence Sophie being like hmmm we should pay attention to him. He's one of the people we have a name for but don't know the motive of. Like Trix.
I'm gonna put my response to the linked Alden post under a cut because it got long!!
But now back to the Alden thing! Reading through that whole post was a little oaigoin because so much of it just is not convincing to me. I won't comment on all of the points but:
there's the mention on the search for Sophie, which I've discussed before. It's for the plot and also relates to his personal guilt over the situation because he feels bad for what he's done and wants it to be worth it, I don't think it's because he's trying to manipulate her or steal her from the Black Swan or anything
Both Alden and Della believed the best of Alvar because he's their son and they saw him through rose colored glasses. And they came to accept later that they were wrong to believe in him. Alden never wanted to believe he was a monster, and that's reasonable. No one wants that for their family! It's an understandable thing to deny and I don't think it's indicative of Alden being secretly evil.
Yes Alden had a relationship with Alina at one point--which he ended specifically because they weren't a good fit for each other. A past relationship with someone now unpleasant doesn't make him suspicious. And I don't think a theory about Fitz being a beguiler or Alden having an affair could make him a traitor. If it was a conscious choice on his part it reflects badly on him as a person, but it doesn't necessarily make him a traitor
He wasn't searching for Sophie under orders, he was defying the council because the council told him to dismiss it but he thought they were ignoring something important (they were). He did it because he thought it was right and also because of guilt, not to be evil
Nobody could light leap into Everglen because they were a security suggestion from Luzia, possibly to make it seem more normal when she added the same gates to her home to hide the troll hive. they weren't Alden's idea. It is mentioned by Sophie several times that it's weird he has them, I concede. But the gates have now been taken down, so there's also that
Honestly i think he hasn't been outright attacked because he's a side character. He's not important enough to the main plot, despite being important in the elven world. Attacks against him are against reputation of his family, which matches more with their presence in the elven world.
Della specifically told us why he didn't join the Black Swan in Neverseen. He wanted to, but they both decided that he would be more useful if he continued working for the council--same as when Grady resigned from the nobility in Everblaze and Alden was willing to do the same but they both decided it was better for him to stay as someone on the inside. And we hardly see him since then, so it hasn't been revisited. But he's said he's proud of his family for being in the Black Swan, and I think he'd decide to join if given another chance now that they're working more closely with the council. We could also ask why Grady and Edaline aren't in the Black Swan either (as far as I can remember), as Sophie--the moonlark--is their daughter and they're involved in a lot.
Just because he would be useful to the Neverseen doesn't make it more likely to happen.
Alden didn't perform the mind break (Quinlin did), but he was the one to go after him and accuse him and testify against him, which was a legitimate thing to do! Alden believed that Prentice was a traitor and danger to the elven world and as such it was his duty to protect their world from him. Prentice was given several chances to prevent the mind break via sharing his secrets, and Alden was only following the law trying to keep their world safe. He didn't know what Prentice was standing for or the deeper meaning of it all, he was trying to protect their world. Also! There's the whole thing about Alden feeling so guilty over the situation and what he'd done that his mind shattered from guilt! He clearly regrets it now that he knows what it was really about.
I know the concept is super appealing to a lot of people but it really feels like we're grasping at straws trying to justify things. There are some good points and questions, like why he was denied a spyball and why the council wanted Della to keep an eye on him. But the arguments so far really don't feel convincing to me.
There's already a traitor in the Vacker family, Alden almost entirely serves purposes to move the plot forward, and has repeatedly aligned himself with the Black Swan since discovering their true motivations and beliefs. it's taken him some time to come around to, but that is entirely normal! that's how people work
everyone is of course still welcome to think of him differently and continue to try and put clues together, but I am going to need a lot more convincing, solid points before I start to seriously consider him in a different light
