i know it's kind of an odd thing to ask but this is a question i've been genuinely curious about for awhile

and when i say "do you care" i mean like. do you refer to your sibling as your older/younger sibling or otherwise take birth order into account to any significant extent when you're interacting with them. i'm leaving what "significant extent" means up to you

Man.... This is like asking why I love soup.  Ok, I'm not sure if I can stay coherent but I'll try, 

Ive been reading detco on and off since I was a was a wee child and even back then he was already one of my favorites because I like mystery, and he was the definition of that. 

And this way before the revelation that he was a good guy too. There was this moment of 'yeah, okay, this is it, he's the one (that im not gonna be normal about)'. Specifically, I fell in love in that one scene where he met ran on a snowy night, something about that scene was just so striking, especially something about him that, despite how intimidating he sounded or looked, didn't set off any alarms in Ran, that was the point where I knew there's more to this character, and that I love him. 

On another lighter note. I like his shinigami aesthetic, his one liner and lack of facial expression, I like his lonewolf tendency, how weirdly dependable he is and yet, he's not, in any way shape or form, charming. 

Like that time where he confronted Gin for the first time, he could've told Jodie and Conan that he had a plan to elude the BO but he didn't, he acted alone, he's extremely slow to trust but when he does, he pledge to them his true loyalty. I mean, Conan was just a child in his eyes (even though now he knows him as Shinichi), and yet since he decided to trust him, he never dismissed his words or treat him like a liability despite his 'age'. 

When he trust people, he cherished them in his own ways, and that's what I find commendable. 

He's ANNOYING. An asshole 75% of the time, we never got more backstory about him and Akemi because I refuse to believe this man with the personality as hard to love as the taste of blue cheese could land not 1 but 2 amazing ladies like cmon now. I hate how he treated Jodie but I have no doubt he would take a bullet for her if need be, I guess that’s why Jodie still likes him too to a degree but he didnt deserve her tbh (<- says the girl who will still reblog redstarling fanart whenever it crosses my dash). 

The same can be applied to his ‘rivalry’ with Rei, it doesn't matter what his true reason was, he decided that night, when he was holding the bleeding gun of a man he failed to save, he would keep the truth away from Rei and he stick by that decision till now, Rei did everything in his power to literally hunt him down over a misunderstanding and he didn't care, come hell and high waters and he will still keep Rei away from the truth because that's what he decided to do and he keeps his promises, especially ones made to himself. 

I suppose I like him because outside of 'work', while he keeps people on a distance, you don't have to second guess on where you stand, there's a sort of ease in that. 

As the story progresses, we get to see reasons as to why he ended up this way and that was pretty entertaining, seeing how affectionate he can be to his siblings and what happened in his past to make him go the extreme lengths of being an agent to another country and infiltrating a deadly organization etc, it fleshes him out, it makes me excited to see where he'll end up next. 

Also, he looks kinda handsome ngl

Like ok, sure, he faked his death like one would do but he came back from the grave as a guy 5 years younger with pink hair that's taking his masters?? Hello???? Has he even been to college before like I legit wonder if he knows how hellish a masters program is AND, I know this is based on a situation that's out of his control, out of all the personalities he can embody, he chose to be a milfy malewife who's always ready to babysit others?? Dedication to the bit is unmatched. 

(Also bc i hc him as conans dad and made a whole series about it, thats fun!)

1) "I told you we invited them over for dinner." "You didn't tell me that." "I did and even marked it on your calendar so you wouldn't forget."

2) "You're just annoying sometimes, that's all." "Oh, I'm annoying? Right, cause I'm the one who's always picking out the bad things about the trips we take together, I'm the one complaining."

3) "I ordered the red wine, not the white." "It's fine, we'll take the white wine, it's no big deal." "It is. I ordered red. I want red, please bring the red."

4) "Do you always have to be like that?" "What? Right?" "Correcting. It's just a stupid mistake, we all know what they meant, you don't always have to correct everyone."

5) "You're rolling your eyes, have I annoyed you?" "Yes. You have, in fact you've been annoying me for three years."

6) "This isn't going to work." "Finally we agree on something!"

7) "Where's the cake?" "You said you'd get it." "No, I got everything else done and asked you to pick up the cake because I thought you could handle it." "You didn't tell me t-" "Fuck it. I'll just get it."

8) "I'll do it! I'll do it, god knows I fucking do everything else around here."

9) "God you are acting like such a bitch!" "Call me a bitch again. Do it, call me a bitch." "You're not a bitch, you're just acting very...controlling."

1) Person A and Person B fall madly in love but when they move in with each other they find that the little things they used to like drive them crazy. The two slowly begin to hate each other and sit down with each other to decide if they want to stay together or break up.

2) Person A is in a relationship with Person B who's controls everything. Feeling like they don't have control in their life and beginning to feel unsafe A decides to just pack everything one night and just leaves without telling anyone where they're going. When A feels happy and free they meet Person C who is carefree and fun and find themselves in love again and feeling loved instead of controlled. When the two move in Person B is knocking on their door.

3) Person A and Person B are together but when they do nothing but fight, Person A seeks out something to keep them happy and occupied so they don't think about it. When they meet Person C they're happy and the two become close friends. Person B finds out and gets jealous, confronting the two and embarrassing Person A. A explains the situation to B who is annoyed and embarrassed. Person C leaves them to sort things out and the two have a serious talk about their relationship leaving both of them asking each other if they still love them and if they still want to be together.

4) Person A and Person B are happy together but when A does B's laundry and finds subtle clues that they've been seeing someone else, they try not to think about it. But then they notice B gets a lot of texts and has to leave all the time. A notices that they always smell like someone else and one day they get brave enough to follow them and find them going to another apartment when they said they'd be at work. When they see B go to a door they recognize as Person C they watch the two of them kiss and go inside. A then has to decide if they want to leave quietly or if they want to stay and fix their relationship.

5) Person A gets out of a nasty relationship with Person B. The two despise each other but soon learn they're going to be working near each other all the time due to their professions being similar. The two decide to avoid each other but when they watch the other person flirt or talk with someone attractive they're both weirdly jealous about it. After they both get a double date with other people they decide to be civil but find things weird when they watch the other's date flirts with them. The try to be nice the rest of the dinner and after a few drinks they tell stories where they were happy hanging out together and while they're laughing they both remember why they fell in love in the first place. Things become weird near the end when their dates notices the way they still look at one another.
