#also technically speaking grammatical gender is present for objects too. that does not necessarily mean we think of them as having a gender#is more of like. how 'wall' is a feminine word while 'paper' is masculine. for no real reason other than how it sounds#so for those words you'd have “la pared no binaria” or “el papel no binario”. to give some examples#sadly the plural is usually the masculine + s version of the word tho? so like “they are no binariOS”. but again not related to their gender#but rather to how plural works#and because of that the general versions of a word are the masculine too. but thats why the 'e' became a thing in the first place#to add a rather neutral version for not fully feminine or fully masculine groups. eg 'niñes' 'amigues'#although it wasnt that accepted in feminist groups (as most people thought trying to change the language for such a detail wasnt worth it)#(as that could also make the general public think of feminism as 'becoming a ridiculous movement nowadays')#it ended up being used most in trans and non binary circles. where they thought the change was a good idea and kept it lol#its not officialized by the spanish academy. but is just like how slang is not in dictionaries either. while still being used#rambled too much for a random meme lmao. but yeah. languages have nuance#anyways#languages
