Novel concept that I will never write:

MC is a bodyguard. His current protectee is a very rich kid, probably 14 or 15. The antagonists set up an ambush and kidnap both of them. Probably just a simple ransom thing.

Exchange is made, and the bodyguard is mildly surprised that he's set free along with the kid. It seems smarter to dispose of the adult witness who might have noticed more details about their captors.

The motive becomes clear when he's accused of being the "inside man" who enabled the kidnapping by leaking the where/when of the kid's travel schedule. Because yeah, it's unusual (and suspicious) that he made it out alive.

Of course, it's a setup. The antagonists have planted false clues that point to him. He has to find the real culprits to prove it wasn't him.

Rest of the story is danger and mystery and car chases and fights. I think the antagonist would turn out to be one of three people: the kid's dad (some kind of money laundering thing), another bodyguard at the firm (who seems like an ally at first), or the owner of that firm.

then an idea came in. "how about this", you turn your head around to look at her again once she said that. "i'm quite rich, and i have a big social media platform as well. i could promote your works for you so your works can do numbers", your eyes lit up at that sentence, "but in exchange, i get you." then your eyes widened. confused on what she meant. "you get me in exchange...?" you were baffled. "yes, meaning i get to have a one night stand with you... or you can even just be mine straight away~" she smirks, looking at you dead in the eye. at that moment you noticed her eyes are filled with lust and desire.

oh that sentence, that smirk, the way those eyes look at you, you were sobered up. the bustling sound of chatting and laughing of other bar customers goes deaf in your ears, you're only focused on this pink haired woman and the loud beating of your heart. why is your heart beating so fast do you have arrhythmia? "so, what do you say?", she asks you again, and all the thoughts are running in your head. this might be a bad idea... but your co workers don't have to know, right? i mean, you're tempted. tempted to make your works a hit, and tempted to spend a night with this beautiful, enchanting woman.

at last, you decided to go with the latter, and accept her offer. "... okay. i'll accept that exchange." you hesitantly said, and all you see is a wolf-like smile infront of you. you can't deny that the way she looks at you is kinda... turning you on. "good girl." you flushed at that sentence. you look like the equivalent of a tomato right now. she called you a good girl? oh fuck you could even get on your knees for this woman.

I have many thoughts about the sibling dynamics between Iris, Seto, River, Mokuba and Flora for my oc fic so here have at thee with some headcanons.

When Flora was born, Mokuba took the role of big brother incredibly seriously. After all, Seto really did raise his brother and now Mokuba gets to be in the position of being the one to guide and be the protector for somebody else. He dotes on her quite a bit and can be seen piggybacking her around, taking any time they play together seriously and he's always right by her side because he wants to follow the example Seto set for him.

Also he absolutely wore a suit when Meredith gave birth to her because he had to look his best for the baby.

Seto sees very early on River's technologically gifted mind and how incredibly creative they are. He doesn't pass up at the chance to get River working with him so they can have some experience into the field if they choose to pursue gaming. He is always careful to review any suggestions and changes they make, as well as the progress they make on the video games they're trying to program as their own projects. He's incredibly proud of his younger sibling and the work they put in.

Seto was also probably the first person River came out as nonbinary to. While they did know and feel like it would be safe to to their parents and siblings, they had still been nervous and especially with Nesbitt on the board still at the time. They knew their brother wouldn't make a big production out of it, but he did tell them he was proud they felt comfortable enough with him to do so and was quick to adapt. He also was the one that would ruin the deadbeats day if he said anything about River's gender identity.

Seto spoils Flora. Like anything she wants, he will buy her, within reason. For the most part. And it has to be within reason now because both Meredith and Roland had to put their foot down with him on it. He does, however, do his part to teach her responsibility as well.

He has also just left her in charge of meetings when he just wants to piss off the Big 5. Or in dealing with investors not worth his time.

Mokuba and River are best friends and partners in crime in all aspects. Like. You cannot leave these two unsupervised. I'm pretty sure they will just take over the city. They work incredibly well together in most anything; when it comes to do work on projects, acting as co-commissioners in Battle City or just trying to get their older siblings to chill out.

They rarely fight as well. I can count on one hand how many fights they've had. Though Mokuba does enjoy getting to tease any of his siblings about their crushes and River is no exception and River has threatened to give him a swirlie if he doesn't shut up and shut up right now.

Iris and Seto both believe they have to be the sole protector of the family, and the one to shield the others when shit gets bad. This includes them believing they have to shield the other and they get frustrated over this because no I'm supposed to look after you you dumbest. As with such a dynamic as this, they both also get onto each other a lot about when they do something reckless, i.e. Seto in Duelist Kingdom and Battle City, and Iris forfeiting the Duel against Alister. But it's 100% out of love and wanting to be there for each other as siblings.

They're also the first ones there to support each other and look after the other. When Seto loses to Yugi the first time and has his crisis and shuts down, Iris is organizing everyone to take care of her brother and to take care of the company so he can process, as she knows better than anyone why losing messes with his head so badly. After Iris gets Orion back after Paradius falls, Seto is the first person she calls and he makes sure she gets set up in her own apartment, that she and his nephew are taken care of and tries to keep her held together because she's crumbling.

They are the eldest kids trying to parent everyone really.

But also? They're still kids themselves by all intents and purposes, with Seto as a teenager and Iris only being about 20. And they can act like it. Like how Seto is like "this'll be funny" by getting a blimp for the Battle City semifinals when his sister hates heights and she's just staring at Roland like "ground your child, please."

When River was a kid, Iris was super doting and gentle with them. They were like those really dumb things in media where it's like the siblings are super loving and nice to each other.

River's a teenager now though and they are rude as hell to each other affectionately. They will flip each other off for no reason and throw shade like nobody's business.

However, you mess with River and Iris will come for your kneecaps. She does not tolerate anyone trying to tear them down.

She and Mokuba are also pretty close and she's definitely just as protective. Mokuba always tries to find a way to get her to relax and smile for a change though because he sees how hard she's working to keep everything afloat.

He is also absolutely the one that teased her constantly about Alister and was like I KNEW IT when they get together.

However, on that note as well, Mokuba is smart and understands his sister's emotional state probably better than most people. When they're fighting Alister, he's upset on her behalf but he also is the one that understands Alister's plight and sympathizes and knows Iris would too and would still want to try and save him from himself; meaning he figured out pretty easily Alister didn’t win that Duel, and Iris forfeited because she couldn't do it.

He knows she's hurting and the best way he knows how to help is just by being there with her.

Iris and Flora are really close and she does dote on her little sister quite a bit. She does her best to help teach her all sorts of life lessons and is always patient with her as she's learning new things.

Flora is super proud of all of her older siblings and thinks they're the coolest people in the world, and would do anything for them and to make them all proud of her.

I often find myself wondering "What if NMJ and NHS were born at the same day (much like JGY and JZX), and were the same age during the story? Would their relationship change? Would they still have the same friends? Would their role in the sect change as well?"

(Of course, if you're interested in writing it, you don't need to answer all those questions and it could simply be about the "twins'" shenanigans haha)

Their relationship would definitely be different. A big part of their canon dynamic as I see it is the fact that NMJ is much older (I'm not sure what canon says, but my headcanon is 6 years apart), and because of their parents' deaths, pretty much had to raise NHS, being both brother and parent to him. So if they're born on the same day, that dynamic is completely removed - they can just be brothers.

So how would this affect things?

Nie Bros

Well, NMJ would have huge changes. The one thing that isn't a concern is his role as Sect Leader - not only does NHS have no interest, but being the son of Daddy Nie's concubine solidifies NMJ as the heir. But their having been raised together from the very beginning could still solidify a strong friendship between them - I imagine NHS' mother might have encouraged him to be the person to help NMJ remember what it's like to be a kid (because he's usually all work/no play). So NMJ will have someone at his side who supports his younger side, who reminds him to relax and to make friends and that there is more to life than work and leading his sect. Also NMJ would be able to step away more having a brother of equal age to temporarily manage things in his absences. The conclusion is that NMJ would be a little more relaxed and easygoing, and may not have as much Big Da-ge Energy as in canon - though he might be more frustrated with his brother's unwillingness to train/take responsibility because NHS won't be *baby*, he'll be *my lazy brother*.

NMJ would also no longer be known far and wide as Da-ge - NHS will still call him that on occasion, usually when he doesn't want to do something and wants to emphasize NMJ should do it because he's older. (NHS: Age before beauty, Da-ge! NMJ: Enough with the Da-ge, I'm five minutes older. NHS: That's still older, old man, now let me rest in peace :p)

NHS as well would have some differences because, as no longer the 'baby' of the family, I don't think he'd be spoiled QUITE as much, and probably wouldn't be allowed to get away with as much as he does. There would probably be expectations that he would eventually be NMJ's 2nd, his right-hand-man, and he'd try to get out of those as much as possible, but he'd be seen less as NMJ's natural successor and heir because he'd be encouraging NMJ to find a wife, pushing him to have a life outside of work.

Canon Events

So the big thing in my head that would be affected by all of this is the canon timeline because... *drumroll*... With our Director Nie and Sect Leader Nie being the same age when their father dies, I fully imagine them to put their heads together to avenge their father as soon as they can figure out how to succeed. They would be 15/16 when their father dies of qi deviation because of Wen Ruohan, so def. old enough to plan out revenge. We all know what happens when NHS loses someone he loves, after all, and NMJ will no longer be preoccupied with raising his baby brother, and instead can dedicated time and brainpower to taking down WRH.

I would like to think they can succeed - NHS would be more likely to try and find a 'dishonourable' method of revenge - that might actually bring conflict between them, the method of revenge and whether it's worth it - but I think their relationship would be solid enough to work through it (or at least to forgive each other in the end).

So yeah, WRH keels over in his soup one day or something and the Sunshot Campaign never happens.

Other Relationships

So... we know there are only so many characters mentioned by name in canon (hell, the Nie Bros are the only Nie mentioned at all until Fatal Journey was filmed), but from what we can see, there aren't many contemporaries to the boys. LXC would be closest at a few years younger (my headcanon is 3 years diff), but the rest of the young masters and mistresses of their generation seem to be younger. This means we won't have our One Braincell Trio (*cries*), though NHS might want to adopt JC and WWX as baby brothers.

That's all I can think of right now, but this is a fascinating idea - I'm tempted to try and write something small to get a feel for it.

Both of them are weak then.

At this point, it’s observable that despite knowing her story, her scars, and her difficulties, humans do not even empathize, let alone sympathize with Rin. It is the feudal era, after all. She’s a young, disabled orphan and the villagers only see her for what she lacks: a voice, a family, and a place of belonging.

Again with your feudal era shit. I can assure you the world is just as ugly today as it was before you and I existed. Next.

When he asks about her bruises, this is the first time anyone had ever afforded her a second glance.

This was a huge step forward for Sess, a huuuuuuge one for he showed interest in another living creature, not just any creature but a human. And for her it was probably like Christmas, for no one had showed her any mercy or interest. Ok you get a point. But oh, boy, how I'm about to spit on the next one:

The audience can see Sesshomaru calculate her body language, recognizing that she is mute. Instead of pressing her further or ignoring her outright, he attempts to comfort her (in his own way), making her feel that it is okay if she chooses not to answer him; that her desire to reply to him should only be a desire, not an obligation. I think, on one hand, that was the first moment of something that would resemble compassion that Sesshomaru had ever administered, trying to put himself in her shoes — if someone had asked him to do something that required, for example, his left arm, he probably would have appreciated them saying “you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to” so to provide him agency for something that he actually cannot do. And the same goes for Rin. He recognizes her disability, maybe even resonates with it and decides to empower her with a choice. Choice is important when it comes to the Sesshomaru/Rin dynamic and it’s a word that will come up often.

The next time Sesshomaru sees Rin, it is suggested that he actively sought her, whether it be by curiosity or concern for well-being

He did... It is not suggested, he actually did asdfhkl. For both curiosity and he probably was worried. He also states he wants to test out his sword, what a perfect chance to do so for Rin is pretty much dead and that's the only way to make his sword work. So she was both being a guinea pig and an itch he wasn't quite sure how to scratch. Next.

Silence Rin.

Rin screams endlessly, annoying Sesshomaru. Firstly, this is the first time we hear him call her by her name. Secondly, Sesshomaru is visibly annoyed by her noises, however, he does not tell her to “shut up” as he normally would with Jaken or even InuYasha. He simply says “enough of that Rin, stop it.” (In Japanese he says, “Silence, Rin. You make too much noise.”) Even analyzing the Japanese dialogue, it is evidently softer than Sesshomaru’s usual ‘kisama’ (貴樣) manner of speech that we see depicted usually. This is the first time he’s had a companion who is not a demon, someone with compassion, and who has had his general best interests at heart with no expectations in return. His softer tone is a logical deduction to make.

Ok... "someone with compassion, and who has had his general best interests at heart with no expectations in return." Bruh... As if he would even consider meeting someone's expectations. Are you sure you're talking about Sess? Another thing is, he always speaks in a calm tone, he rarely yells or loses his composure- he had no reason to be rude to her either, you're excusing his regular behavior simply because she ain't Jaken. Anything else?

Rin doesn't change Sesshomaru overnight, it's a gradual and long process

The silence part is important, idk how to tell you there is a power imbalance in their relationship from the moment he tells her to be quiet. He didn't say please, he didn't ask her to, he told her to be quiet. Like a parent would, if I could count the times my mom told me to shush.... That's your first indicator he is not her friend, he is not her equal.

Letting you Be Yourself: The Panther Demon Arc

the first frame the audience sees in the anime sets the scene, painting the Sessshomaru entourage in a serene manner, indicating a level of comfort between group members (episode 75). This is vastly different from our last depiction of Sesshomaru and Rin’s relationship. In episode 44, he was unable to withstand her (albeit annoying) childish antics. But here, it’s observable that Sesshomaru can accept her and her package of unconventional fun. Not only does he tolerate and even more so, accept Rin, but he accepts her influence on his vassal, Jaken and allows them to be free around him.

Is called developing patience. I can assure you that when you're a parent or an older bro/sis and your kid/younger sibling is noisy af you either learn to tolerate that or get used to it for kids are kids abd you have to let them be kids. Next.

The Abducted Rin: Calling her Name

The respect that Sesshomaru shows Rin is insurmountable. However, the InuYasha franchise is clever to portray the subtlety of Sesshomaru’s respect for her. KV on Twitter points out how highly he regards his companion and never relegates her to anything less than the value that she as a person embodies (@KVndie via Twitter). He consistently humanizes her. 

He only sees how important she is to him after her ass dies a second time. What do you mean? He respects her enough to not coddle her, she is independent and taught her to be self sufficient from the very start. That's respect. He consistently humanizes her because... She ... Is ... Human! OMG WHAT A SHOCKER!

As Naraku remarks on his hostage to Sesshomaru, "Naturally, the girl you're looking for is not here…,” he continues, “the girl is in custody outside of the castle..." Naraku never makes an attempt to give her personhood, leaving her unnamed, disposable, and relegating her to a mere "girl." But Sesshomaru doesn’t take any of this. He is a cold-hearted Daiyokai, yet he still makes an effort and upholds his principle to refer to her as Rin — not a replaceable “girl.”

Naraku is a mf genius. It didn't quite click until now he wanted to see if she was important or not to him and to what extent. For he planned his moves that way, making people turn against one another. While he wouldn't have made Rin turn against Sess he set everything up so he would end up wanting to kill Kohaku and in doing so, Inugang would have engaged against Sess.

Sesshomaru’s insistence on using Rin’s name isn’t only highlighted in this isolated incident though. It pays off. It is an ongoing theme in their dynamic throughout the series.

I could go on and on but... This is a fucking essay. And then I stumble against more bullcrap:

The second point I want to highlight here is Sesshomaru’s reaction to Rin’s fall and her risky expedition. At this point, it’s unquestionable that Rin has a special place in his heart.

Of course she has a special spot in his heart. I won't deny that. What worries me is how you're trying to justify the way she's important to him since she was a child. As if his way of seeing her had changed.

I'm gonna disagree by agreeing with you in a few pointers. Kagome and Kikyo were rivals, they both romantically love the same guy. Kagome being the only one who could save Kikyo chooses to help her, knowing damn well Inuyasha would have suffered if Kikyo had died- further more, if it was in Kagome's hands to do something about it.

Rin on the other hand, I will applaud to her how she grew past her fear of Kagura after being kidnapped by her, she saw her body in the river and said fuck it and did her best to try to pull her from the water. I loved how stubborn and brave she was, even tho Sess had to pull everyone out of the water- she deserves a gold star. You go baby girl!!!

Rin later makes a cheeky comment, noting Kagura’s romantic interest in Sesshomaru. Jaken brushes this off as childish naivety. But for the spectator, this establishes two things: (1) That Rin does not see Kagura as a rival for Lord Sesshomaru’s attention, let alone affection; and (2) that Rin is still a child. Rin is certainly a child, with a youthful and fresh outlook on life that brings out the best in people. But even as a child, her relationship with Sesshomaru is incredibly healthy, clear, and surprisingly communicative.

I've wanted to talk about the relationship between Willow & Boscha for awhile now.

Long post is long (accidentally posted it too early. My bad!)

Boscha the Bully

According to the Inner Willow, Boscha (along with the other popular girls) picked on Willow for years.

We don't find out why tho.

Compared to when Amity would insult her, Willow didn't seem to have much of a reaction to Boscha's bullying.

Which could mean Willow possibly didn't see Boscha as much of a problem until Wing It Like Witches.

Boscha's bullying only got worse when Willow (unknowingly) became more popular than her.

- Note: Boscha's fully aware of how great Willow (as well as Luz & Gus) can be. She must really want Willow to not be aware of her greatest just satisfy her own ego.

How long has this been going on? On to the next part.

Are Willow's Dads aware of this?/Willow's history with Boscha

Willow's fathers love her very much & could be quite protective of her (I headcanon that they put her in the abomination track cause she got mad & hurt herself with plant magic by accident).

How do you think they'd react to their daughter coming home crying about the mean girls that hurt her? They wouldn't be happy about it.

Don't think her dads would like Boscha very much...

On the subject of them as kids, I think the nickname "Half-a-Witch" came from Boscha (noticed how no one calls her that anymore tho?).

Now we're getting into these two as people.

Willow's only getting better

At her first appearance, Willow had no confidence, but look at her now!

She's also a lot happier with her friends and is actually well liked at school (even by Boscha's friends).

She's now even aware that she's stronger and smarter than Boscha too!

She's taking a stand for herself and others in need. Which is what I really like to see & I wanna see more of it in later seasons.

Boscha could have problems of her own

It's clear to anyone that watches this show that Boscha's not a good person.

She's egotistical, sadistic, a brat to her mother, rebellious to the point it's harmful to others, & really petty for pretty much no reason.

We know she was a mean kid (thanks to Understanding Willow), but why is this?

How she thinks she's better than others & how she thinks she needs to be feared to get her way (as will as be good at sports), I think she has both a superiority and a inferiority complex.

Now to the other people in Willow's life that clearly wanna protect her from Boscha.

The Willow Protection Squad

- Amity: Willow's childhood friend who stopped being her friend to protect from her parents. Never really liked Boscha to begin with. So she has no problems standing up for Willow against her.

- Augustus (Gus): Willow's genuine friend that cares for her so much, he's willing to stand up to kids older than him to help her out (including Boscha).

- Luz: Willow's new friend that would absolutely become a human shield for her if Willow asked (which she obviously won't do of course).

Why did I bring them into this? Because all of them wouldn't hesitate to wipe the floor with Boscha, but Willow won't let that happen because...

Willow's so nice (even to Boscha)

Willow could've ended Boscha's popularity at Hexside anytime after she became more confident in herself (& her magic skills), but she didn't.

Even at the end of WilW (after Boscha ruined her whole day), Willow showed her mercy when Boscha never thought of doing the same to her.

Maybe this'll cause a change in Boscha (a "Maybe I don't have to be worse to be better..." type of deal)?

Or Boscha could double down on her awful ways & want to get revenge on Willow?

Either way, I want these two to interact more in Season 2.

And now, something I've wanted to talk about regarding these two for awhile.

Willow and Boscha from a shipping POV

The ship between Willow & Boscha is quite popular in this Fandom & I get it!

- The want for Boscha to get a Redemption Arc (she doesn't seem as bad as Belos, it may be possible?).

- The want for Willow to be a big part in said Redemption Arc (although this would be a good idea, I don't want Boscha to dump all her problems onto Willow nor do I want Boscha to be Willow's responsibility).

My favorite fanon dynamic with these two is Boscha thinking Willow would say yes to dating her (cause of her ego), only to get rejected (Willow looks so done with Boscha's BS in the fanart, it's hilarious).

- Also Willow would kindly reject Boscha (baby girl's just too nice).

- But if Boscha is too pushy, Willow will have to hurt her a little (The Willow Way is a strong way).

- Also Willow's (clearly protective) dads should be in more Boschlow fan pieces. Just shocked & angry that Boscha's at their door, demanding to speak with Willow (I don't think it'll go well for her...).

I wouldn't be surprised if these two did become a thing in canon.

In conclusion

Do I ship Boschlow? Mixed feelings about it to be honest.

Do I get why people ship it? Yeah.

Do I think Boscha's good enough for Willow? Now, of course not!

Do I think she can be? Maybe... It all depends on what the writers want (the show has great writing as it is).

The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring of the Two Towers

★ Do I like this episode? Why or why not? God I love it, it's so stinking cute! I think everything about it's perfect. I love when they act like actual kids and have cute little quests and things. Seriously love it to bits!

★ Favorite moment? Honestly all of it. But I have a soft spot for Stan going, "Hey, kid! >:(" at kids that are like, significantly older than he is lol. Go back to your porch and shake your fist at kids playing ball down the street, Stan, Christ.

★ Least favorite moment? I think all of it's great. For the sake of it I guess the parents explaining sex at the end so graphically. Let them stay babies!

★ Do I have an unpopular opinion about this episode? What is it? I doubt it, it's just cute af.

★ Something I would change? Literally nothing.

★ Rating out of 5? 5.

★ Anything else I want to say about this episode? One of my favs. I'm not a big laugher in general even with things I find funny but this one gets me.

The Losing Edge

★ Do I like this episode? Why or why not? Absolutely. I like Kyle S so I like seeing him come back as a ringer and I agree with the entire premise of the ep of 'wouldn't it be cute if the boys wore baseball outfits'? Yes it would! But more than that I really like the Stan and Randy dynamic in this episode. It's a bit more understated than a lot of eps with them, but I think moments like Stan wanting to talk to his dad about not having fun and actually going to do it...just to come up on Randy daydreaming about the upcoming games and giving up, that kind of thing gets me! There are bigger issues at play when it comes to their relationship in this episode with Randy embarrassing Stan constantly at every game, but I think this little moment is just fantastic and says maybe even more about their relationship: That Stan loves his dad and thinks his dad does care about his opinions and does want him to be happy....but that it doesn't matter as much as Randy being happy (either because Randy doesn't care as much about Stan's happiness as his own and Stan knows it, or because Stan doesn't want to disappoint his dad, or a combination of both) is just a great moment. Then the end with Randy getting his second wind because he does actually want Stan to be proud of him. It's great.

★ Favorite moment? 'Hey Bat Dad...I didn't hear no bell' + 'Dad...you're the greatest!'

★ Least favorite moment? Maybe fittingly I think the actual baseball bits are kind of boring lol but the kids do look cute.

★ Do I have an unpopular opinion about this episode? What is it? I wouldn't be surprised if Kyle S is a controversial character but I like him quite a bit. He's one of my favorite bit characters.

★ Something I would change? Nothing

★ Rating out of 5? 4

★ Anything else I want to say about this episode? One of the more meaningless eps I relate to Stan's role in because when I played softball they wanted to make me pitcher. I declined because pitcher was equal to captain on my team and I did not have enough passion for softball to lead anyone into battle hahaha

My mind was plagued with thoughts of the episode where the kids think Perry laid an egg and the comic where Perry saves a baby platypus from Doof, and that got me thinking: what if Perry was actually a dad to a baby platypus? One possibility is that Perry wouldn't want his child to become an agent at such a young age and would rather have his kid decide if they want to do it when they're older, but I believe that either way, the young platypus would inherit Perry's anthropomorphism.

Okay first I gotta ask how we think this would happen. Is it the egg from Perry Lays An Egg that hatches, except it really is a baby platypus and Perry ends up taking it in because no one else can? Or is it Perry taking one of Doof’s platybabies home? Or is it trans!Perry laying his own egg? Or Perry has sex with another platypus (that’s such a weird thought lmao) and somehow he becomes the sole guardian of the egg? As the numero uno “Perry is an asexual demibiromantic platypus” stan, I kinda like the first or second one, but I also feel like the platybaby should be related to him? But at the same time Phineas and Ferb is all about how family don’t end in blood so maybe that’s not important?

Anyways onto Dad!Perry because holy shit I’m excited to explore this

I’m gonna start at the end of the ask by saying that I feel like anthropomorphism isn’t genetically inherited; I feel like it’s something that’s taught. It’s kinda a nature vs nurture type thing so I guess it’s more a psychological debate than anything, but if I had to channel my inner English teacher and draw evidence from “the text” (aka the show), I gotta bring up the koi from Attack of the 50 Foot Sister that were just kinda vibin in the neighbors’ pond at the beginning of the episode and then Monogram had to make them agents to avoid a lawsuit and by the end they were saving Perry’s ass? Which is relevant to literally nothing except that I think any baby animal Perry raises, regardless of whether or not they’re related to him by blood (or even by species), will probably turn the lil baby into an anthropomorphic lil platybaby just because of all the human and human-like influences

And now the elephant in the room (cue OWCA Files Agent E joke): how does OWCA react to the news? Which I guess is really a follow-up question to how OWCA finds out in the first place. I think we can all agree that Perry won’t want to tell them. It’s not like he sees the other agents as friends that he wants to invite to the baby shower. But Monogram would want to know if there’s a new player in the Flynn-Fletcher house not that he knows who lives there now; that’s Carl’s area of expertise. Would he have to tell them? Is there a protocol for that? Especially if it’s just an egg he picks up from The Tree™ in the backyard. That’s basically just getting a new pet, right? And sure, Monogram would want to know, but is Perry legally obligated to tell him is the question.

But Monogram has to find out one way or another, and given that Perry is the best of the best, Monogram is going to want his kid in the club. Perry would 100% say no, too, but I don’t know if it would be because he wants his son (yes it’s a boy platybaby no I don’t know why) to have his own say in his future; I think Perry would consider OWCA too dangerous for his son. I mean, we saw what happened when Phineas, Ferb, and Candace got mixed up in his job: they were almost eaten by a goozim and the tri-state area was almost taken over by an evil dictator. He would definitely want to keep his son out of that scene if he could. At least all the dangers at home are Phineas-and-Ferb-sponsored, and unlike OWCA, they would make sure he didn’t get hurt.

Buuuut Monogram is also a dumbass and doesn’t know how to take no for an answer, so he’d keep pushing. It has to be a well-known fact around OWCA that changing Agent P’s mind about anything is not an easy feat, so maybe when Monogram realized it was a lost cause, he’d try to go around Perry’s back? Maybe while Perry was at work, he’d head to the Flynn-Fletchers’ house (or send Carl again like Undercover Carl) to try to get the platybaby alone? He could explain what OWCA is and that he would make a perfect candidate. I doubt Perry would have told his son about OWCA in any detail yet other than the fact that he works there and that’s where he goes every day, so this would all be new and interesting. And then Perry either comes home when Monogram or Carl is talking to his son about OWCA or his son brings it up himself, and Perry is fuming because he made it very clear that he didn’t want OWCA anywhere near his family. 

And now I can’t help but wonder if that would cause bigger problems between him and OWCA? What if that’s his breaking point, and he just flat-out quits because if they can’t respect his very few boundaries, he doesn’t owe them anything? And assuming the platybaby didn’t come from Doof, maybe that’s how they meet? Somehow he finds out that the reason there’s a new agent working his case is that Perry’s out on “permanent paternity leave” or something, and word gets back to Perry somehow (maybe Pinky heard it through the grapevine and told him? idk) that Doof wants to meet him? And Perry’s kinda wary buuuuut at the same time, Doof isn’t his nemesis anymore. If you take OWCA out of the equation, aren’t they just friends?

and Doof would get kinda annoyed because “He came here so I could meet the baby, you know,” and usually that’s enough to convince Norm that he’s doing something wrong, but this time Norm is just like, “But I love him?” And Doof expects Perry to back him up and he probably should but at the same time, his son looks so happy with Norm? Without OWCA’s training, he still has that platypus aspect to his personality that comes from both his animal instinct and how the Flynn-Fletchers treat him, so he’s just kinda snuggled up in Norm’s lap and Norm is just petting him?

And this is probably after he’s shown some human-like features and Doof knows that he’s about as human as Perry, so he asks, “Does he like being pet?” and Perry nods because duh of course he does and Doof just kinda looks at him for a moment and he’s like, “Do you like to be pet?” and Perry just fuckin decks him because no he does not yes he does and Doof just nods like, “Okay, fair enough.”

AND THEN VANESSA WALKS IN???

and she had absolutely no idea this was happening she’s about to go drop her stuff off in her room for the weekend and Norm’s like, “Look at my new friend!” and Vanessa thinks it’s gonna be something stupid but she walks over and sees the baby platypus and she starts freaking out because holy shit Perry is that yours? and obviously she needs to know literally everything there is to know about him because this is her nephew now and she will not take no for an answer.

And I feel like OWCA really wouldn’t like this? I mean, Perry completely severed ties with them over this platybaby, and now he’s bringing his son over to DEI at least twice a week to see his former nemesis? And idk what they would do about it because I don’t think there’s an actual protocol for this, but Monogram is Very Sensitive™ and he won’t stand for this.

Also and I’m totally just spit-balling here but what if, because the platybaby is kinda also being raised by the Doofenshmirtzes (and the Flynn-Fletchers but idk if that would make much of a difference here bc he has to pretend to be a mindless pet around them like his dad), he gets the best of the human and animal experience all in one, without all the shit Perry had to deal with from OWCA? And what if that somehow leads him to be able to speak? I don’t quite know how that would work, mostly because I don’t really know what prevents Perry from speaking, but we already went into that back in May so I’m not gonna go there again lol

okay I’m pretty sure it’s been over two hours since I started working on this ask but I can’t help it because this is literally such a cute idea fjdshflakfa I don’t even know if I’d be content reading this like I feel like this is just something I want to write. I kinda want to see how Phineas and Ferb would treat him, and if they’d treat Perry any differently now that a) he’s a dad and b) there’s a new platypus for them to love. I also want to see how Candace would handle probably falling in love with the platybaby but still getting annoyed by Perry. I really want to see what Vanessa and Norm’s relationship with the platybaby would turn into. Idk so much about the Doof/platybaby relationship though; I feel like I’d be more interested in how this affects the Doof/Perry dynamic instead. Something about Doof makes me think he wouldn’t be as easily swayed by the platybaby as everyone else, but the fact that Perry would now be a dad just like him would probably make him unreasonably happy. And that’s not even touching upon how different life would be for Perry now that he has a son, and he would obviously adore the little guy with his entire being, but, like, he has a son? How is he supposed to deal with that?

also I really should’ve given the platybaby a name to make this more readable and it’s a little too late for that but I hereby decree that his new temporary name until such time as this fic gets written is Horatio (unless y’all wanna hit me up with your platybaby name ideas because I would love to see them?) so welcome to the Dwampyverse, Horatio :,)

Kacchan & Deku: Win to Save and Save to Win - A circular path of parallels (part 1)

Okay so it had probably already been talked to death by now, but i'd like to write a detailed list of how Midoriya and Bakugou's respective paths are and had always been paralleled since the beginning. And it's not just with the whole "save to win and win to save" thing, which is the most obvious textual part of it, but there are a lot of more subtle hints along the way too. I mean in nearly every single arcs, for each of Midoriya development, Bakugou had one too (albeit in a completely opposite direction).

This post is also partly in response to some anime-only fans who complained about Bakugou's development in the Joint Training Arc coming from the left field... Which actually isn't? Like Kirishima said it had never been as obvious before but there were definite hints about it and I'll try to show them as thoroughly as possible in this post.

¤ From the Pre-UA era To Deku vs Kacchan: their starting lines

When I said that the parallel started early, I really meant early. In fact, it started as early as the very first panel they were in.

I think it is very telling that the first time we saw them, Midoriya is trying to defend another kid, while Bakugou is seen using his quirk (and actually introducing the reader/viewer to the whole concept of quirk in the first place). It tells us right here, right then on the very first second, that Midoriya Izuku is physically weak but a savior at heart and Bakugou Katsuki has a strong quirk but is a bully asserting his dominance.

This of course led to diametrical beliefs on what a hero is and should be and we've got those two very iconic moments to illustrate:

And of course it reflected into their behaviors, even as kids.

What I find really interesting in the way those flashbacks were presented is that Midoriya's saving moment was told through Bakugou's POV, while Bakugou's winning side was seen through Midoriya's eyes.

Those moments were deemed important because they deeply impacted the witnessing party and not actually the "wining/saving" one.

(I think someone commented once that while the river scene was highly pivotal for Bakugou, Midoriya probably doesn't even remember it. And likewise Bakugou probably doesn't remember fighting and winning against some random older kids, but Midoriya definitively does. And I totally agree!)

At those moment both Bakugou and Midoriya saw in the other something that they were clearly lacking and their reactions to this realization were wildly different as well.

"He doesn't take himself into account, you know. Something doesn't feel right. It makes me wanna keep him at arm's length. Back then, I ignored my own weakness, so I ended up bullying him" - Bakugou Katsuki

"You who had so many things I didn't have... To me, you were an amazing person much closer than All Might! That's why I keep chasing after you!!" - Midoriya Izuku

Midoriya saw this amazing kid kicking ass with his strong quirks and his first reaction was admiration and wanting to get as close as possible to this person, because he was all too aware of his own weakness and shortcoming.

Bakugou saw this selfless kid trying to help him and displaying qualities that he didn't have and his first reaction was to lash out and push that kid as far away as possible because he didn't want to recognize his own weaknesses and shortcomings.

Which, you know, probably describes their entire childhood dynamics haha...

... and then the sludge villain happened.

And it brought with it the iconic "My legs moved on their own" and "Your eyes were begging for help" moments which we all know about of course, but this scene also had another more immediate parallel that I'd like to talk about.

Bakugou tried to fight the sludge villain on his own but ultimately failed to win.

Midoriya tried to rescue Bakugou on his own from the sludge villain but ultimately failed to save him.

The sludge villain was a reality check for both of them, in a "Nope kiddos, you might aspire to be heroes, but you still have a very long way to go. Here let's insert an All Might to show you just how far away your goal is," kind of way?

Anyway fast-forward 10 months of intense training to prepare for the UA entrance exam.... and really do I even have to mention this?

I mean the only way it could have been even more textually obvious is if Midoriya had been ranked sixth instead of seventh so that his name would be right next to Bakugou's... like there's even this panel explicitly pointing everything out.

So yeah... nothing to add there, *shrugs*

After that came the Quirk Assessment Test:

I'm going to come back to this later on in a more detailed way, but regarding their personal development; Midoriya's development is external while Bakugou's is internal. And I don't quite consider the quirk assessment test as "progress" for any of them yet because both of them sort of completely miss the point.

Aizawa told Midoriya "How can you save anyone if you can't move after one hit?" which had the underlying message of "It's not okay to hurt yourself"... But Midoriya totally went like, "Okay then I'll just hurt myself in a way in which I can still move afterward!" So yeah he is just sidestepping the problem here, but well there probably wasn't anything else he could do here.

As for Bakugou, he had always feel threatened by Midoriya's presence, but not in a fighting skills context. They are not really competing on the same field and it had never occurred to Bakugou that Midoriya could really beat him in a one-to-one fight.

As hilarious as the thought of Bakugou truly believing that somehow Deku had managed to take head on building-high robots quirkless is, I think what really happened is... Bakugou saw his own 0 rescue points and thought "Oh... so that's how Deku got in. Damn nerd probably went and save shitty extras left and right!". Which is a more realistic feat to manage quirkless. Anyway my point is, Bakugou realizing Midoriya isn't quirkless should have been a "Shit! He's leveling the field and standing on my playground now!" moment...

But no, what overpowered him here is the thought that the whole time Midoriya had been hiding his quirk from him and went like "What? Am I not good enough for you to use your quirk on me?! STOP LOOKING DOWN ON ME!!! EXPLAIN YOURSELF RIGHT THE FUCK NOW, SHITTY DEKU!!"

So yeah... kind of missing the point too.

Which is why the quirk assessment test wasn't really their starting point but more like them trying to look for it but missing it?

Speaking of starting lines... Let's move on to the Deku vs. Kacchan first round.

B"From watching the match, it appears Bakugou acted n to surpass Bakugou, All Might pointed that those were the first passionate emotions Midoriya had shown other than "I want to be a hero!". This was the very first moment where Midoriya's desire to win was stronger than his desire to save.

As for Bakugou, this was the moment where he truly he realized that Deku is a threat and not just through his natural heroic/saving disposition like before but on the battlefield which used to be 100% Bakugou's area of expertise. And if even with his non-existent control of quirk Deku had managed to win to such extent, what would happen when Deku managed to truly master his own quirk? Total defeat?! Bakugou is self-aware enough to realize that while his own fighting skills and quirk mastery could still progress, they were already near the top with a not wide enough margin for improvement.

This was the moment where Bakugou realized where he truly stood compared to everyone else around him and that if he wanted to reach the very top again, then only relying on his fighting skills and his quirk control would never be enough. This is what prompted out his feelings of "I have to change or I'll be left in the dust".

And since Deku went and encroached on Bakugou's playground and beat him in the process, there's no way in hell Mr Complete and Irrefutable Win over there wouldn't aim to do exactly the same at some point.

Anyway the two gifs above showed us their motivation to reach their respective Win/Save side of the spectrum, but they both have big issues they need to work on in order to do so.

"From watching the match, it appears Bakugou-san acted on his own because of an obviously personal grudge. As as All Might-sensei said previously, it is foolish to launch a large-scale attack indoors.

In the same way, taking into consideration the damage he received, Midoriya-san's plan was also rash." - Yaoyorozu Momo

Yaoyorozu's analysis was super spot on and hit straight where their weaknesses lie: Bakugou needs to stop acting on his own and learn to cooperate with/trust his teammates and Midoriya needs to stop hurting himself/self-sacrifice and learn to properly control his quirk.

Both of them also have these super heavy shackles that keep pulling them down and impeding their progress at every turn:

Bakugou's complex feelings and emotionally explosive baggage towards Midoriya that makes him go feral and irrational at the drop of a hat and clearly prevents him from properly considering Midoriya as the rival that would keep pulling him up

Midoriya's total and utter idolization of All Might that gives him a tendency to imitate his idol and clearly prevents him from properly realizing and unlocking the potential of his own quirk

And at that point, they clearly don't realize how cumbersome those shackles could be if left unaddressed too long.

Anyway... this episode/chapter was called "Bakugou Katsuki: Starting line", but I think it can be considered both their starting lines, because this is when they were made aware of what they are lacking and showed their resolve to change.

Midoriya's progress and development is intrinsically linked to his quirk mastery and fighting style, which are inherently physical skills (which is where Bakugou's excels in). It stands to reason then that his progress would therefore be very flashy, hard to miss, and highly praised due to the external aspect of his development.

On the other hand Bakugou's progress and development hinges on him properly getting in touch with his emotions and connecting to other people in healthy way, which are inherently inner-strength qualities (which Midoriya has no shortage of) . It stands to reason then that his progress would therefore be very subtle, mostly unnoticed, and hardly taken into account due to the internal aspect of his development. (Like it'd probably only takes him having a full meltdown or throwing himself in front of someone else for other people to notice how far he had gone!)
