#smtii's atmosphere really is a different kind of loneliness from nocturne's in a painful way

smtii is still rotting my brain and i saw a similar post recently talking about similar themes with flynn, but i thought it was really sad how right after the first daleth fight everyone pretty immediately settles on calling aleph the messiah and thanking him for finally arriving to save them, and then afterwards, everyone just relies on aleph to take care of things. like, at this point he doesn't know that that's the whole point of his existence in the first place (tho once you find that out or if you already knew like i did, i feel like that just makes it extra sad) so from aleph's perspective, he's gotten this messiah role pushed onto him when he still hardly remembers who he even is, and is probably only doing all this cus he feels like he has to, or maybe his creation made him hardwired to lean into heroism (which i would argue is even MORE sad cus even after getting his memories wiped ("a little more than the center had implanted") he still can't fully escape the purpose of the project 😭💔) so he ultimately doesn't really get much of a choice. and nobody seems all that concerned with the toll this could be taking on him even tho it seems like the only people who knew ab the messiah project were the people directly involved (except since hiroko had her memories wiped i wouldn't really count her until after she meets mekata). not to mention that they were staking their lives on this one guy, but it totally could've turned into another daleth situation where aleph is just ANOTHER false messiah 💀
it's just so deeply sad to create this little guy for the purpose of filling this one huge role and nobody ever seems all that concerned with how he's feeling. it makes the atmosphere feel so lonely in a different way from nocturne
man............what a week ruiner!!!!!!!
