this past weekend I was at a bachelorette party and I was smoking weed with this girl I didn't know very well and she was like "yeah everyone assumes I'm a lesbian because I work in construction and I don't wear makeup" and I was like 🫣 girlie I thought you were a lesbian because you just told me verbatim your type in men is "when they're silent and leave you alone" but it reallyyyyy doesn't seem like you're ready for that conversation yet

This is an old demo of an even older song that I wrote about a roadtrip across the US from Florida to Washington in 2013. I thought I’d lost this extremely rough demo, and had abandoned hope of it reaching the public, but it’s been recovered and I’m so excited for you all to hear it! This recording is very… textured, but tbh I feel like that loans something to the vibe of the song. It feels… Alive. Haunted. It feels like it could’ve been recorded in a car on a road trip.

So give it a listen, you spooky little weirdos, and enjoy what’s truly one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. Oh, and the last third is in French because little baby 2013 Jupiter was AMBITIOUS

Just as he set his foot on the step, though, Lola caught his arm. She kissed him, quick and full of adrenaline, and he responded with enthusiasm, slinging his arm around her waist and pulling her against his body. His belt buckle dug into her stomach as he kissed her back, openmouthed, with dizzying intensity, bending her backwards in his arms, until she had to push him off just to breathe, or else faint.

“That was cause you’re gorgeous.”

She’d meant to sound pithy, like a dame from an old noir, but when he was holding her this tightly, still breathing into her mouth, the burn of his stubble fresh on her skin, it came out as barely a whisper.
