I have a goal this year to spin enough yarn to knit a sweater entirely from my homespun.
I decided to use my box of hand me down grey and brown roving wool. Unknown age, but the address on the box is typewritten.

It still spins up very nicely though 😊. I'm using my (also of unknown age) Ashford wheel rather than hand spinning to speed the process along.

First 235ish yards down, about a thousand to go lol

I finish one knitting project and suddenly I get delusions of grandeur about what I should do next. I made one nice-looking hat and I'm chomping at the bit to jump right into a whole ass sweater. I DO have the confidence of a mediocre white man but only immediately upon finishing a craft project.

She's dry!!
I was not expecting to lose 10% of the weight again in lanolin, I've got 509gm now of spun wool.
I wish I'd weighed it myself at the very start, but I've lost about 50% all up of weight to impurities.
This wool is so nice, y'all. It's soft, fluffy, stretchy. Got the most wonderful neutral smell

Almost done fixing the jeans they cut up at the ER last summer.
Tumblr media
All told, it'll be about 36 square inches stitched over. There's a strip of navy blue 11-count aida backing it for structure. Using 2 strands of bright green and 1 strand of dark green for the color
Once this is done, I have a couple hoodies to do: my tsunami warning hoodie that Pixie chewed on is getting blue Wave patterns along the cuffs and hem in a couple places. My red Burton hoodie is getting orange and yellow flames around the worn out cuffs.

The shop I get my bulk yarn for dyework has added the option at checkout to add a Little Felted Guy made by their daughter and let me tell you, it's hard to resist. Needless to say, I now have a bunch of yarn and a little felted guy on the way.

just pulled this shawl off the blocking mat!
Tumblr media
super in love with it, the only thing i would change is that it’s a little smaller than i hoped. i think i should have used one needle size larger. for some reason i have trouble trusting that looser gauges will look right even though i love them when blocked and finished lmao
also this thing had like. a billion ends to weave in because each of those little points created 2 ends so it was a bit of a slog however i think the end result is worth it!
pattern link here!
