| shop for plants |
Because plants are the new pets and pets are the new babies.
There are a lot of small fancy outlets, garden shops and manufactory scale tree nurseries in Singapore being the truly green city, but I'll list the ones I personally shop and like.
Rooted - lovely small shop in the Bras Basah.Bugis, good selection of plants and pots, and repotting service. Online shop is in place as well with the delivery for bigger plants.
The Nursery - expensive, but oh they're good. huge variety of plants including exotic breeds and very big plants, stylish ceramics, fancy pottery. Have not been to the boutique yet and did only online shopping, but yes, you do have expectations when something's called "boutique" )

Odyssey - The Global Preschool - 8 Mistakes to Avoid When Transitioning from Nursery to Kindergarten
In Singapore, children typically start kindergarten age in Singapore around the age of 3 or 4 years old, depending on when they turn the appropriate age to enrol in preschool education programs. This marks the beginning of their formal education journey before entering primary school.
1. Neglecting to Prepare Emotionally
One of the most critical mistakes parents can make is underestimating the emotional aspect of transitioning to kindergarten. Moving from the familiar environment of the nursery to a new school setting can evoke feelings of anxiety and uncertainty in young children. It's essential to prepare your child emotionally by discussing kindergarten positively and openly. Take time to visit the kindergarten, meet the teachers, and explore the classroom environment together. These preparatory steps can help alleviate fears and build confidence as your child transitions to a new routine and social setting.
2. Overlooking School Readiness Skills
School readiness encompasses a range of skills that are crucial for kindergarten success. These include fine motor skills, social skills, and basic literacy and numeracy abilities. Many parents overlook the importance of preparing their children in these areas, assuming that kindergarten will cover everything. However, practising activities at home that promote these skills—such as colouring, counting objects, practising sharing with siblings or peers, and following simple instructions—can significantly benefit your child's readiness for formal schooling. Building these foundational skills beforehand can boost your child's confidence and readiness to engage actively in classroom activities.
3. Ignoring Communication with Educators
Effective communication between parents and kindergarten educators is key to supporting your child's transition and academic progress, whether at a private preschool in Singapore or elsewhere. Many parents make the mistake of not engaging enough with teachers or attending orientation sessions and parent-teacher meetings. These opportunities provide valuable insights into the kindergarten's curriculum, expectations, and strategies for supporting your child's learning and development. Regular communication ensures that parents and educators are aligned in their approach, allowing for early intervention if challenges arise and fostering a collaborative partnership in your child's educational journey.
4. Rushing the Transition Timeline
Every child transitions to kindergarten at their own pace, and rushing this process can lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety for both children and parents. While it's natural to compare your child's readiness with that of their peers, it's crucial to consider individual factors such as maturity level, social readiness, and developmental milestones. Instead of strictly adhering to age-based expectations, observe your child's readiness indicators and consult with educators or paediatricians if you have concerns. Taking a gradual and supportive approach to transition ensures that your child feels confident and secure in their new learning environment.
5. Overloading with Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular activities play a valuable role in a child's development by promoting social skills, physical fitness, and creativity. However, overloading your child with too many activities before kindergarten can have adverse effects. It may lead to exhaustion, reduced focus on academic readiness, and increased stress levels. To avoid this mistake, prioritise activities that complement your child's interests and developmental needs. Strike a balance between structured activities that promote social interaction and unstructured playtime that allows for creativity and relaxation. This balanced approach supports your child's overall well-being and readiness for kindergarten.
6. Neglecting to Foster Independence
Kindergarten encourages children to develop independence and self-reliance in various aspects of their daily routine. Parents sometimes hinder this development by micromanaging tasks or not allowing children to make decisions independently. It's essential to empower your child by gradually increasing their responsibilities at home and encouraging them to problem-solve and make choices within safe boundaries. Building independence prepares children for the expectations of kindergarten, where they will be encouraged to participate in classroom activities, follow routines, and take responsibility for their belongings and actions.
Conclusion
By avoiding these common mistakes when transitioning from nursery to kindergarten, parents can help their children achieve a smooth and successful start to formal schooling. Emotionally preparing your child, focusing on school readiness skills, fostering effective communication with educators, respecting individual transition timelines, balancing extracurricular activities, promoting independence, addressing developmental concerns, and establishing consistent routines all contribute to a positive kindergarten experience. Each child's transition is unique, so adapting these strategies to fit your child's needs and readiness ensures they embark on their educational journey with confidence and enthusiasm.

The Intrinsic Role of Parents in Pre-nursery Education
Parents, in the realm of early childhood education, play a central and irreplaceable role. This role is especially pronounced in pre-nursery schools in Singapore, where the partnership between parents and educators is fundamental to laying a robust educational foundation. Through consistent communication channels, parents are kept abreast of their child's progress, ensuring a united and collaborative approach to early learning.
Exploring Ways for Parents to Engage in Pre-Nursery Education

Open lines of communication between parents and pre-nursery educators form the bedrock of successful parental involvement. Regular updates regarding a child's activities and progress foster transparency and active parental engagement.
Active Participation in School Events:

Involvement in these events not only cultivates a profound sense of community but also fortifies the crucial connection between parents and the educational institution.
Implementing Home Extension Activities:
Parents are encouraged to implement pre-nursery concepts at home to reinforce classroom learning. Simple activities like reading books, practising counting, and exploring basic language skills contribute significantly to a child's holistic development.
Navigating the Pre-Nursery Landscape in Singapore: A Collaborative Approach
In Singapore, pre-nursery education transcends the physical boundaries of the classroom. Parents are actively encouraged to participate in their child's learning journey, aligning their efforts with the structured curriculum of pre-nursery schools. In a nation like Singapore, renowned for its high regard for education, the synergy between parents and pre-nursery schools is crucial in cultivating a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.
Highlighting the Benefits of Active Parental Involvement
Enhanced Academic Performance:

Improved Social Skills:
Actively involving parents in pre-nursery activities contributes significantly to the development of a child's social skills. Exposure to diverse social settings, both at home and school, enhances a child's adaptability, a crucial aspect of their social development.

Sowing the Seeds of Beauty: Exploring Plant Nurseries and Landscape Services in Singapore
Singapore, often referred to as the Garden City, is renowned for its lush greenery, meticulously curated landscapes, and vibrant floral displays. Central to this reputation are the myriad plant nurseries and landscape services that cater to the city-state's insatiable appetite for botanical beauty. In this article, we delve into the world of plant nurseries and landscape services in Singapore, exploring the diverse offerings and the vital role they play in shaping the urban landscape.
The Green Thumb of Singapore: Plant Nurseries
Plant nurseries serve as the primary source for a wide variety of plants, ranging from ornamental flowers to exotic shrubs and trees. In Singapore, these nurseries are not merely places of commerce but are often destinations for nature enthusiasts seeking inspiration and tranquility amidst the urban bustle.
One of the most iconic nurseries in Singapore is the Orchid Garden within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Home to over 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids of orchids, it offers visitors a glimpse into the mesmerizing diversity of these delicate flowers. Beyond orchids, nurseries like Far East Flora and Thomson Nursery boast extensive collections of tropical plants, making them popular choices for both amateur gardeners and landscaping professionals alike.
Crafting Urban Oases: Landscape Services
Landscape services in Singapore go beyond mere gardening; they are instrumental in crafting captivating outdoor spaces that seamlessly blend nature with urban living. From residential gardens to public parks and commercial complexes, landscape architects and designers play a pivotal role in enhancing the aesthetic appeal and functionality of outdoor environments.
One notable example of exemplary landscape design is Gardens by the Bay, an award-winning horticultural attraction that features futuristic Supertrees, lush gardens, and iconic conservatories. Designed to showcase sustainable practices and biodiversity, Gardens by the Bay stands as a testament to Singapore's commitment to green initiatives and eco-friendly urban planning.
Fostering Sustainability and Biodiversity
In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on sustainability and biodiversity conservation within Singapore's landscaping industry. Plant nurseries are increasingly offering native species and eco-friendly gardening solutions to promote biodiversity and reduce environmental impact. Likewise, landscape services are incorporating sustainable design principles, such as rainwater harvesting and green roofs, to create more resilient and ecologically balanced outdoor spaces.
Furthermore, initiatives like the National Parks Board's Community in Bloom program encourage community involvement in gardening and green initiatives, fostering a sense of ownership and stewardship towards the environment.
Looking to the Future
As Singapore continues to evolve, the demand for green spaces and sustainable landscapes will only grow. Plant nurseries and landscape services will play a crucial role in meeting this demand, offering innovative solutions to create greener, healthier, and more livable urban environments.
By sowing the seeds of beauty and nurturing a deeper connection with nature, Singapore's plant nurseries and landscape services are not just shaping the physical landscape but also enriching the lives of its residents and visitors alike. As we look to the future, let us continue to cultivate a harmonious relationship between urban development and the natural world, ensuring that Singapore remains a beacon of green innovation and botanical brilliance for generations to come.

Hey it would be great if you could write Charles and readers initial days as first time parents with ruby and how Charles got separation anxiety when he left his daughter for Singapore gp.
only these words | charles leclerc
title is literally my favorite chris cornell song 🫶🏼 i miss him
Charles fell in love with Ruby the second he laid eyes on her. She was practically his twin. Y/n joked that she had basically given birth to Charles’ twin. His family and friends came to visit in the hospital. It was hard to get Charles to hand over Ruby.
After Y/n was discharged from the hospital, the new family was headed home. Charles knew that Ruby wouldn’t understand anything he was saying, but he didn’t care since he kept explaining any little thing to his daughter as he drove back home.
“Those floaty things are called boats. When you’re older, you can get on one.”
It was like that for several weeks. Y/n saw how in love Charles was with fatherhood. He would change diapers, feed her and even got up in the middle of the night to calm the crying baby. One time, Y/n had listened to Charles talk to baby Ruby through the baby monitor after she had woken up.
“You’re so tiny. You’re my little princess, don’t tell your maman i said that, she might get jealous.” Charles softly spoke
Y/n chuckled. She continued listening.
“No matter what, you will always be my little princess. I guess that makes me a king and your maman would be the queen. A little girl born to a king and a queen. Princess Ruby Jules,” Charles went on. “I love you.”
And of course Charles would say those words to his little princess every night.
Thankfully Ruby was born during a break from the races so Charles was home for the first days of fatherhood. Eventually, it was time to leave his girls and return to the track which was something he didn’t want to do. The day before his flight, Charles was in Ruby’s nursery watching her sleep peacefully. He felt guilty for leaving, but Y/n assured him they would be okay since Pascale and Carla would take care of both of them.
“But what if there’s an emergency? You two need me here.” Charles said to Y/n.
“Ferrari needs you too.” Y/n replied.
“My girls are much more important than Ferrari. They can wait.”
When morning came, Charles didn’t even want to wake up. He understood he had a job and he needed to leave, but the thought of leaving his family broke his heart even if it was just for a few days.
“Charles, I will call you every day and night.” Y/n assured him.
“Why if Ruby forgets me?” Charles wondered.
“How could she forget her papa? She’s never going to forget you.”
It took everything to get Charles on the flight to Singapore on time. He kept giving kisses to both of his girls and telling them how much he was going to miss them.
“We’re going to be okay, my love. Ruby and I will be cheering for our favorite red car.” Y/n smiled and pressed a light kiss on Charles’ cheek.
“Mine?”
“No, number fifty five.”

The startup employs a triple-threat approach to traditional rice cultivation: Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), Direct Seeded Rice (DSR), and Soil Bacteria Additives.
AWD involves periodically drying and re-flooding rice fields instead of constant flooding. This method reduces water usage by 30%, boosts yields, and cuts methane emissions by an impressive 1.4 tons per hectare per season.
DSR eliminates the need for constantly flooded nurseries by sowing seeds directly into the soil. Widely adopted in Southeast Asia, this technique curbs water consumption, lowers seed costs, and reduces methane emissions by 0.3 tons per hectare per season.
Startup Rize also introduces specialized soil bacteria additives that temper the soil, decreasing fertilizer requirements while improving grain quality. Remarkably, these bacterial additives slash methane emissions by a staggering 3.3 tons per hectare per season.

“Sure Dan, I have time tomorrow if that’s good for you?” Phil replied, entering it into his work diary. He enjoyed having Dan as a model so he would love doing a photoshoot specifically where he could take photos of Dan without seeming weird.
Except maybe Phil should have asked what kind of photoshoot it would be. He was about to get a shock.

What if Far Far Away Castle was featured at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Orlando?
20 years ago on this day, "Shrek 2" was released two days early from its initially scheduled release date, May 21, 2004. This film took the world of "Shrek", as well as DreamWorks Animation to new heights. Considering how "Shrek 2" was even better than the first movie, and also its huge box office success at the time, it gave me an idea I thought of a few years ago.
We all know how "Shrek" was supposed to be a satire of fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and even Disney classics, so I thought that since the Magic Kingdom was the main highlight for the Disney Parks (Mainly Sleeping Beauty's castle in California and Cinderella's castle in Florida), and the fact that Disney and Universal are natural rival studios, what if Universal Studios Theme Parks in the United States built a replica of King Harold and Queen Lillian's castle to compete with Disney's Magic Kingdom?
Though Far Far Away does exist at Universal Studios Singapore, here's my own interpretation for how I think Far Far Away Castle would look like in the US.
SETUP
The exterior would pretty much be the same, if not, downsized. For the interior, I imagined the castle would not only be a place you could tour around, but it could also work as a hotel. The rooms we've seen in the "Shrek" sequels like the dining room, the courtyard (complete with a wooden polished dance floor and a stage for live performances and other outdoor events), and even the library (even though you can't rent the books, as I think the shelves would be fake) would be present. The place can be loaded with bedrooms, themed off of famous DreamWorks Animation properties. Some bedrooms can also have a balcony where you can get a good view of Universal Studios from.
As far as other rooms, I was thinking there could be a swimming pool and hot tub area, a spa, an arcade, and even private movie theater screening rooms where you can watch your favorite Universal movies with your choice to see them in 2D or RealD 3D formats (depending on your liking, or what titles are available for both formats). There can also be a restricted area for adults only which offers a bar and possibly a casino, with "Shrek" themed slot machines and card tables.
This is all I've got, but since Nintendo beat us to it with Super Nintendo World (in a good way, of course), I still think this would've been a great sight to see for Universal.

The Doctor holds the Time Lords' only hope — but exactly what lengths will the Celestial Intervention Agency go to in their efforts to retrieve something important from within his TARDIS? What has caused the Imperiatrix Romanadvoratrelundar to declare war on the rest of creation? And can an old nursery rhyme about a monster called Zagreus really be coming true?
