BRUSHSTROKES OF MAGIC.
includes: lyney x fem!reader. painter!reader, fluff, may be ooc lyney, painter and her magician muse — wc: 591
You had finally secured tickets to Lyney and Lynette’s captivating Magic Show.
After putting in hard work through small art commissions and assisting others, your perseverance paid off. Luckily, you found yourself seated in the second row, enjoying a perfect view of the entire stage. As the lights dimmed, a spotlight illuminated the enchanting magicians.
“Welcome to Lyney and Lynette’s Magic Show!” Lyney exclaimed, his arms wide open in a welcoming gesture.
The performance unfolded before your eyes, blurring the line between reality and fantasy.
The show concluded with a burst of applause, whistles, and amazed cheers filling the room. Lyney and Lynette took their bows, expressing gratitude to the audience before exiting the stage.
While others started to leave the theatre, you remained lost in your thoughts, unable to tear yourself away.
You noticed Lyney’s occasional glances in your direction, but you brushed them off, assuming he was merely engaging with the audience. Your hands moved instinctively, retrieving a small paper and a worn pencil that you carried everywhere. Swiftly, you sketched the scene, capturing the magicians as the focal point.
Unaware of another presence, you snapped out of your trance when a red rose materialised before you.
Your eyes widened at the sight, then lifted to meet the culprit—a mischievous grin adorning his face.
“Well, M’lady, perhaps we should step outside before we find ourselves locked in here,” he suggested, tucking the flower gently into your hair. Extending his hand, he invited you to join him.
You accepted his hand, and he turned to his sister, who stood waiting.
“Took you quite a while,” she remarked, her expression unchanging.
“Apologies, Lynette. It seems M’lady was deeply absorbed in thought,” he responded.
“Please stop addressing me like that,” you murmured, your cheeks tinged with a blush.
“Apologies again! I haven’t had the pleasure of knowing your name. I’m Lyney. This is my sister, Lynette, and you are...?” He walked alongside you as the three of you departed the theatre.
“(Name), pleased to make your acquaintance,” you replied.
From that day forward, your bond with Lyney grew remarkably strong, much to Lynette’s amusement as she shook her head at her brother’s persistent attempts to win you over.
In a meadow bursting with vibrant blooms, Lyney stood amidst the flowers, becoming both your muse and a devoted spectator. As your brush danced gracefully across the canvas, each stroke seemed to weave a rich tapestry of emotions.
“Are you almost finished, M’lady?” Lyney’s voice broke the tranquil air as he noticed your momentary pause.
“Hmm, just a few more minutes,” you replied, urging him to remain where he stood.
When the art piece finally took shape, it radiated colours and beauty that surpassed mere brushwork. Lyney was thoroughly impressed, unable to contain himself as he pressed a kiss to your cheek, prompting a delightful blush from you.
“Thank you for immortalising me in your art, M’lady. I shall treasure it,” Lyney expressed, his tone sincere.
“It’s no big deal,” you replied with a smile. Lyney settled beside the portrayal of yourself, gazing at you with unwavering attention.
“Is something wrong?” you questioned, perplexed by his sudden change in demeanour.
“No, it’s just that something has been occupying my thoughts,” he confessed, his fond gaze fixed on you.
Your head tilted in curiosity, awaiting an explanation.
“Despite my belief in the wonder of my magic tricks, they pale in comparison to your beauty and talent. I’m afraid, M’lady, that you’ve stolen my heart. So, will you do me the honour of accepting this responsibility?”
NOTES. he’s cute i like the idea of painter!reader w lyney whos a magician, also my second genshin work weee. kinda rushed this so whatever plot i have is a bit wonky, maybe.

🤿 Freminet x Reader headcanons Shyness🐧
Freminet's infatuation with you was something obvious to his siblings. Lyney and Lynette saw how touching a blush appeared on his cheeks when he was talking to you and how dreamy his gaze was directed at you when he was sure that you couldn't see it. They understood that their younger brother was in love with you and just couldn't stay away. They wanted to help him finally at least try to get closer to you
Lyney gave him a lot of advice on how to make you laugh, he even tried to teach him a few simple tricks. Freminet sincerely tried to learn what his older brother was trying to teach him, but when he tried to do something like that when communicating with you, his shyness got the better of him and he couldn't say a word. Lynette saw this and decided to try to help her younger brother in her own way
She tried to give him calmer advice compared to Lyney, but they didn't work either. Freminet was nervous around you and in a hurry to find a reason to leave. His brother and sister's advice didn't work, but his feelings for you didn't go away. He didn't want to seem stupid to you, and every time he dived into the water to think about everything and calm down. It was thanks to this that he was able to really start communicating with you more
When he surfaced, he saw you. You were sitting on the shore and admiring the sea with a soft smile on your lips. Only then did he decide to try to talk to you. The sea had a calming effect on him and he was able to talk to you more boldly. You both loved the sea, with the difference that he liked to dive underwater, and you liked to admire the sea. But it was this topic that brought you together
Lyney and Lynette watched from the sidelines as you communicated. They were glad that Freminet had finally found the courage. Their younger brother gave you seashells, and you told him about everything in the world. So far, stronger feelings were just beginning to appear between you, but now Freminet was not so shy about communicating with you, feeling more confident and open to your conversations

Don't know if you take crack requests. What if reader thought the guys were females but find out they were actually a dude.
Venti, Lyney, Tighnari, Kaveh
You can add another of your choosing
I take every request I think as long as it's not pedophilia/incest/ or anything with animals/mobs!
This idea had me laughing!! Oh my gosh! I won't lie I thought Venti and Kaveh were females the first time I saw them! I also kept confusing Lyney with Lynette 😭 I hope you enjoy and thank you for the request!

CW: Fluffy! Characters get a little embarrassed cause the reader thinks they are a girl!
(Includes: Lyney, Tighnari, Kaveh, and Venti!)
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
𑁍༄Lyney:
"You must be thinking of my sister...Lynette?" Lyney chuckled shyly, finding his heart racing and his cheeks flushed. You were extremely cute in his eyes and you'd just complimented him on his magic tricks...if only you hadn't called him miss.
"Oh no I'm talking about you! You're assistant was wonderful as well, but you truly wowed the crowd!"
"Well I thank you for your words of praise, I'm afraid I have to correct you. I'm not a girl haha"
"Oh no! I'm so sorry, I should go now. I'm so sorry."
"No please, I'd like to talk to you more. Perhaps I could show you a few more magic tricks!"
𑁍༄Tighnari:
"Excuse me Ms.? Do you happen to know the best medicine for a migraine? I've heard you're good with medications and even make some?" You tapped the fennec foxes shoulder, hoping she could help you with the painful headaches you'd been experiencing.
"Ms.?" He turned towards you and upon hearing his voice you instantly realized your mistake...
"Mr.! I'm so sorry, I didn't- I shouldn't have just assumed!"
"It's alright, it could have been far worse. You could have called me a furry."
𑁍༄Kaveh:
"Hi, sorry if this is strange, but as I walked by I noticed your sketches and I just wanted to say they are beautiful ma'am" You shyly stood a bit away from him, hoping that he wouldn't find your compliment to forward...if only you'd known that was the least of your problems.
"Thank you, but I'm sorry, did you just call me ma'am? Did Alhaitham put you up to this?"
Your face went beet red, embarrassment playing on your features, "I don't know who that is and I sincerely apologise!"
"Oh no I'm sorry, I shouldn't have accused you of working with Alhaitham. He's my roommate and...and you probably don't need to know that." He looks away from you feeling flustered, "Can we start over?"
𑁍༄Venti:
"Ehhh, what did you call me?" Venti scratched the back of his neck, cheeks turning crimson as you chuckled sweetly...it would have been cute really,...if only you hadn't just referred to him as miss.
"I called you miss! Oh I'm sorry is it Mrs.?"
The poor bard sighed, wondering why so many people assumed the wrong gender...did he really look that much like a girl? "Aha, actually it's neither! I'm a boy."
"...I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have assumed!!"
"It's alright, happens more often then you think..."

Their crush doesn’t think they are being serious
[ HEADCANONS ] [ Lyney, Argenti, Tamaki ]
[ Genshin Impact ] [ Honkai Star Rail ] [ Ouran High School Host Club ]
I admit it ✋🏼🐭🤚🏼 this was really funny to write, specially because is with overwhelmingly beautiful men (I don't say it, science says it)
Lyney
As a magician Lyney has to be misterious and carismatic to captivate the public and perform his magic tricks, he has a gift with words and is actually really talktive (unlike his siblings), is just the way he is and the moment he end up falling in love that part of his personality will just grow more
For Lyney to fall in love it doesn't take much time and yet he isn't exactly easy to fall in love, he needs to know you first but his crush is developed pretty quick, still he stays quite unaware of his own feeling for a while, Lyney is smart and has to have everything under control due being magician but when it comes to you he just knows that you are like part of his family and he wants to be close to you, he wants to make performances for you, magic tricks that will leave you in awe
No matter how much Lyney tries to deny his feeling due his shyness and insecurities it becomes quite obvious for how hard he tries to learn more magic tricks and perfect the ones you like the most, how he is always eager to see your reaction, how he jokes about doing a whole performance only for you or even by the fact that he had gave you rainbow roses at least once
Its thanks to his denial that he can be sending confusing signals since he just insist that all the flirting is because he is a magician! its all part of his magic tricks, and even so he will not quite realice that is thanks to all his confusing signals that you don't take him seriously, is just for the magic after all
At the end it will be Lynette who will make him not only admit his feeling for you but also who will make him realice what he have caused, about how he had being so worried about saying that all is for the magic that he himself is destroying any kind of opportunity he may have with you, and, honeslty, once Lyney finally understand what he have done he feels quite devastated
Then again, it has to be Lynette who get him out of his paniced state to tell him that if he really wants to have a chance with you he better start acting seriously on those feelings, the problems is that he doesn't know what to do now, he has being serious with what he have being trying (despite not fully accepting his feeling yet)
At the end Lyney will not change much on his tactics to try to win your heart but this time he is visibly more sincere, even going as far as putting the magic trick aside for a moment to simply hang out (reducing the magic tricks to small moments just to surprise you and focused on showing a true and direct interest on you), also, at the end Lynette will be dragged into this to help him (despite the fact that she had threated offered to directly go to you and directly tell you about his brother's feelings)
Argenti
As a Knight of beauty Argenti spread the word of the beauty, seeing beauty in everything and everyone, and, as a gentleman he always compliments others since for him is only normal to apreciate all the beauty in the name of Idrila, despite always spreading compliments and sweet words everything he says is said with a lot of sincerity, he wouldn't dare to lie when talking about beauty
For him to develop a crush it isn't too dificult nor takes too much time, still his love grows with time as he gets to know you better, even so, nothing stops him to express that love to you or anyone who is willing to hear, not only love is such a beautiful feeling but he bet that your beauty can only be compared to Idrila themself, and since he doesn't have shame to speak his heart out, being showered in compliments isn't something new nor weird when being with him (unless, of course, it is something that makes you uncomfortable)
It could be quite flattering reciving so much compliments, but since Argenti is always spreding words of appreciation to anything beautiful (wich in his eyes is everything really) it would be understandable to believe that, despite his constant compliments and words of love you aren't too special on his eyes, he sees beauty in everything so it may not really be diferent when those words are directed towards you
Wich couldn't be far from the truth, Argenti has no problem with directly expressing his love to you (but respecting your bounduries), and, honestly, as time pass and he gets to know you better his compliments and words become even more personal and sincere, he start expressing his admiration for who you are
Despite the fact that Argenti seems blinded by his devotion for the beauty he is actually really perceptive, if you don't tell him directly that you don't take too serious his compliments it would only take him a little while for him to notice it, he wouldn't mind much if you are unfazed but he worries that he may be making you uncomfortable or even offending you, so he politely decides to ask you if there is something wrong or even if he is making you uncomfortable
Honestly, he will end up deeply apologize for making you doubt the sincerity of his words before expressing directly the deep love he feels for you, swearing on his life, on his honor as knight of beauty and even in the name of Idrila themself if necesary that he is being completely sincere, he wouldn't dare to joke about something like that or play with your feelings in such cruel and horrible way. Despite being a literal love confesion Argenti doesn't exactly expects an answer right away, he just hopes that with this will put you at ease about his true intentions and love
Tamaki Suoh
Tamaki is quite carismatic and has no shame on flirting with the girls that comes to the host club, in his eyes he is just making them happy so there is nothing bad on it, the problem comes when he develop a crush on someone
For him to fall in love is actually pretty quick, but what will take quite some time is for him to realice those feelings, somehow he sees that crush as a simply close friendship and even insist that is all, he just cares too much for you and since he is the leader of the host club is his responsability to take care of you (even if you aren't part of the club)
Tamaki is stuck between being easily jealous along with wanting your undivided attention and insisting that what he feels aren't romantic feelings, so even if he can be clingy and directly affectionate he just doesn't admit his feeling directly nor out loud, as well, despite being in love with someone he doesn't really let that affect his job as a host (or well, he isn't affected when you aren't around)
At the end the ones who will notice not only his crush but also the fact that his crush doesn’t take him seriously is the rest of the club, who just end up pitying him, while Hikaru and Kaoru like teasing him, Kyoka tries to make him understand that what he is doing is just ruining any kind of chance he has with you, Haruhi tries to help too but she mostly just tell you to don't take him too seriously nor personal, not even him knows what he is doing exactly
It will take a long time of explaining and thinking for him to realice not only his feeling but also how he is actually messing up his oportunity, and even when is the fact that he is flirty and openly affectionate with the people who comes to the club Tamaki feels like is that charisma one of his most valuable quirks, so even if thats the reason why you don't think he is being serious when he flirts with you he will keep trying that way because that is the only way he knows
Once Tamaki finally understand the situation he feels quite devastated, he feel so down and even takes it a little too personal, worrying that you think that he may being trying just to play with your feeling, and yet he tries to woo you with the same cheesy and quite dramatic ways he have always did but this time he is trying his best to show some sincerity too, this time he is trying really hard to show sincere care and love, even some vulnerability
This time it isn't him only saying sweet words, this time Tamaki is trying to win your heart the right way, learning what you like and showing true interest in who you are, hopefuly you will accept his sincere courtships (and maybe forgive him for making you feel like he was just playing around)

Unveiling Secrets
Characters: Lyney, Reader (Furina and Lynette briefly mentioned)
Relationship: Lyney x Reader
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
Summary: Lyney’s case revealed some shocking information that he never mentioned during your years of being together. SPOILERS FOR FONTAINE’S ARCHON QUESTS.
Notes: Very self indulgent because Lyney’s trial had me fucking SHOOK. My state is currently getting throttled with a massive storm and since I’m stuck inside, I’ve been bored as hell so why not write some of the stuff I’ve had ideas about?? Very short because I’m exhausted but yeahhhhh. Requests are open! :)
Word Count: 1230
Lyney, the renowned magician of Fontaine that everyone knew and adored. The same Lyney that came home every night, always exhausted but a smile graced his face regardless.
The soft moments shared in the evenings and through the night into the early hours of the day- the memories once were enough to bring butterflies to your stomach.
But now?
A crushing weight fell to your shoulders as you stood in the Opera Epiclese, observing the trial that took place. Of course, you knew Lyney was innocent- there was no way he would've killed someone.
“Tell me.” Furina’s voice cut through your thoughts, “Aren't you and Lynette actually from the House of the Hearth?”
You froze, eyes wide and breath catching in your throat. The House of the Hearth? The Fatui?
Lyney, the sweet magician who always pulled flowers from nowhere as a gift. Your sweet boyfriend who you thought could do no wrong…
Was of the Fatui?
Everyone in the opera house seemed shocked- most questioning Lyney’s innocence. But you sat frozen in your spot, eyes wide and staring blankly ahead.
During the years of being with Lyney, he had never once brought up such a detail. Why would he keep such important information away? Was it all a lie? Some sick, twisted game to him?
The rest of the trial was a blur in your zoned-out state. Everything seemed to blur together and you barely knew what was happening until you were walking on shaky legs from the auditorium.
Hasty footsteps from behind with a soft call of your name fell on deaf ears. It was only when a hand gently touched your shoulder that you finally snapped out of it, eyes flickering up to meet with familiar violet orbs.
Lyney.
“Hey,” he said in a low voice, worry lacing into it, “are you okay?”
How could you be? You just found out that your boyfriend was a part of the Fatui. That wasn't the problem, however. The problem was that such information was revealed by the Hydro Archon herself. In the middle of a court case.
Mouth opening to reply, words seemed to get caught on your tongue, mind drawing a blank.
“Why didn't you tell me..?” You asked finally, voice small and eyebrows furrowed.
The blond swallowed thickly, “I-” he seemed to struggle with words for a moment, “I swear, I didn't mean any harm by not telling you- I just-”
“Chose to keep such an important detail away from the person you're supposed to trust the most?” You asked, cutting him off. Internally, you winced at the sharp tone.
Lyney’s eyes grew wide, “It's not that I didn't trust you! I just- I didn't know how to tell you!” his voice was borderline pleading, “Please, I’m sorry I didn't tell you.”
“I..” You frowned, “What else did you lie about..? Was this... Was this relationship a lie too?” The question left your lips before you could even stop it, tumbling off your tongue like a wave of water.
“Of course it wasn't!” Came Lyney’s surprised reply, his hands moving to grasp yours delicately, “This relationship was never a lie- and still isn't.”
Even with Lyney’s sincere voice, doubt ate at the back of your mind. What if this was another lie? He lied for years about such a small detail- what else did he lie about?
“You..” Avoiding eye contact, your body stiffened when his gloved hands met yours. Holding hands with him once brought so much warmth and comfort- but now it left a heavy feeling settling at the bottom of your stomach.
Lyney shook his head as if knowing what you were going to say, “I didn't lie, Mon Cheri. I just didn't… Tell you this one detail. I’m still the same Lyney as before.”
“But are you..?” The waver in your voice caused you to curse inwardly, brave facade fading away. “How do I know that… that you're the same Lyney..?”
“Darling..” He whispered, eyes softening, “You are the only one who gets to see the real me. The real Lyney. It's reserved for you and you alone.”
Opening your mouth to reply, he cut you off by cupping your cheeks with his gloved hands, warmth seeping from the material.
Unable to resist the urge, you nuzzled into his touch, unconsciously pressing a soft kiss to his palm.
“I promise, I am the same Lyney that you have always seen. I love you and nothing has changed- none of this was a lie.” He sighed, a small smile gracing his lips as his violet orbs watched you place the kiss to his palm.
“I'm sorry I never told you, Mon Amore. I'll make it up to you, I promise.” Lyney’s eyes searched yours desperately.
Eyes drooping with a sigh, you looked up at him, “You better make it up to me.” You murmured, arms reluctantly moving to curl around his waist, “You owe me big time..”
He smiled, arms wrapping around you in a warm embrace, “That I do, that I do- I’ll do anything you ask until you forgive me! … Within reason, of course.” He gave a sheepish smile.
“No more secrets.” You murmured, giving him a stern look, “We need to trust each other… I don’t want to have to find out other things about you from the Hyrdo Archon herself- or anyone but you.” A sigh, “Promise?”
“Promise.” Came Lyney’s reply not even a moment later. His voice was serious, eyes determined. Right-hand raising, he stuck out his pinkie, a small smile forming on his lips.
“What are we, five?” You asked with a joking scoff, but you raised your hand to link pinkies with him regardless.
He smiled, pinkie squeezing yours, “If we are, you just agreed with it.” Gesturing to your linked pinkies, he laughed softly. His free hand moved to behind your ear, pulling out a flower as if out of nowhere.
“A beautiful flower for a beautiful person.” He winked, smiling. The flower was a Rainbow Rose, the scent mixing perfectly with Lyney’s and easily filling your senses. He gingerly tucked it into your hair, drawing a link hue to your cheeks.
“Now,” He hummed, “Shall we go out? I have a lot I must make up for-”
The blond was cut off by your arms wrapping around his waist again, head tucking below his chin and pressing against his chest. The soft thrum of his heartbeat was calming to listen to.
He paused, eyes widening before he smiled. One arm wrapped around you, the other raised with a hand gently carding through your hair, “Hey, hey. What's wrong, Mon Amore?”
“Just..” You whispered against his chest, “Let's stay like this for a bit... Please…?” Hands bunching up the fabric on his back lightly, your arms tightened slightly.
“Of course,” Lyney murmured with a smile, pressing a soft kiss to the crown of your head, “We can stay like this as long as you need. I’m here.”
And so there you stood, just outside of the Opera Epiclese and comfortably embraced in each other's arms.
Maybe Lyney did withhold details from you, but he was still your Lyney- a conclusion you had come to. While your trust was shattered, he was picking up the pieces and putting it back together.
It would take time, but with Lyney by your side, you knew everything would be okay.

!300 followers special!
giving the fontainians bouquets!
characters: bf!/gf!every fontaine character x gn!reader
author's note: THANK YOU GUYS FOR 300 FOLLOWERS AND I DECIDED TO DO THIS, WELL, THE IDEA WAS SUGGESTED BY MY LOVELY @mariaace AND I THINK IT'S ADORABLE! this is what the poll was about btw lmfao ANYWAYS enjoy<33
✧ Furina
-blushing.
-adorable blushing.
-"o-oh! t-thank you, [name]! i didn't expect such a... beautiful bouquet... but i'm not complaining, don't get me wrong!"
-she would keep that bouquet in your guys' house for the rest of eternity.
-and would combine it with every other bouquet/flower you gave her.
-she loves you 5 times more now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✿ Neuvillette
-"w-well... this is certainly.. unexpected. but.. thank you. you truly are thoughtful."
-he would be flustered but definitely wouldn't try to hide it as many others would.
-it's a really pleasant feeling for him and he sees no point in trying to hide it, especially from the person causing it.
-aka the one he loves.
-keeps the bouquet on his nightstand, making sure none of the flowers die or lose color.
-and if at least one flower does, he'll write you a 10 page paragraph apology with a big bouquet next to it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
☆ Wriothesley
-"oh, well... thank you, i suppose. *wink*"
-he'd be so much more flirty and teasing after that.
-i mean, he'll keep the flowers and take care of them, but he'll tease you a lot more.
-more frequent winks and smug looks to you.
-he just knows you love it when he makes you blush like that.
-not like you're complaining in the first place.
-and he's expecting more flowers after that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✯ Navia
-THIS BEAUTY OF A WOMAN.
-will definitely blush and elegantly take it in her hands while she smells the flowers.
-"wow... they're so beautiful... thank you, really..!"
-she values your relationship a lot but now she values it even more.
-it really makes her feel loved and appreciated.
-probably would invite you to a dinner date afterwards, where you eat macaroons together.
-and keep the bouquet eternally.
-idk i have a thing for fictional blondes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✷ Clorinde
-she's not playable yet but ughhhh
-she's perfect she would literally blush but still try to keep her intimidating and serious behavior.
-"this is... for me? thank you, i suppose."
-if you tease her about her blushing you'll just make her blush even more.
-but don't do it, let her get comfortable with you aka get to somewhere more private.
-this woman will literally send you a letter signed by "champion duelist" not wanting you to know that it was her.
-the letter consisted of a "thank you." and a purple flower tied to it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
⑅ Lyney
-unexpectedly, he would blush really hard.
-like ofc he would do his best to mask it but you can see through him almost like lynette, you've known him long enough.
-"a-ah! mon amour..! this is simply beautiful and so kind of you! but- i'm the one who gives you flowers, not the other way around, right?"
-wether you agree or disagree with him, he will continue blushing.
-will keep the flowers on your guys' living room table, to remind him of this moment anytime.
-do it more and see how much longer he can keep masking all of that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
๑ Freminet
-"w-why thank you, [name]... y-you're really sweet..."
-a blushing mess.
-the flowers will be taken care of, no worries!
-but the way his heart started beating fast when you gave him the flowers made him smile.
-he tried to hide the blushing but he failed, too captivated by your confidence.
-he's probably gonna talk to lyney and lynette all worried with how his dear beloved makes him feel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✪ Lynette
-"this is.. certainly an unexpected gift. thank you sincerely, [name]."
-she'd blush but she's too good at hiding it.
-wether you notice or not, she'll act the same.
-it's not exactly "serious mode" after that.
-but she will keep the bouquet and take care of it.
-she would let you know that she liked it and that she kept it, sure, but not as emotionally as the others would.
-she's adorable when you notice her blushing face tho.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
× Arlecchino
-i had to include her since she's a fontainian too.
-"this is for me? well, i can't say i don't like it, so, thank you, if that's what you wish to hear."
-she's not one of those who would blush, instead, she'd either make you blush, or just let you know that she likes it with a genuine smile.
-honestly, in both situations, she'd make you blush.
-she just has that captivating aura, not like she would blush like a child right then and there unlike lyney
-but yeah i see her keeping the flowers too
-the only difference after that would be her reminding you of that whenever you disagreed with her for whatever reason.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
⊹ Chiori
-not exactly a fontainian but she does live in fontaine so ig i have to include her
-i love her and i love her personality and i love how she would react.
-"this is all... for me? why, thank you, my dear. i don't remember a time when i felt this appreciated."
-there would be some faint blush on her cheeks but her eyes showed more.
Really loved your Lyney hcs 😭🩷 you write him so well. I would love to see some more if that's ok! Like affection hcs? What types of affection he likes, what gets him all frustrated etc ( I think this guy is a blushing mess most of the time, good thing he has his hat to hide behind it lol) Once again I really loved your writing, have a nice day 🩷
Aaaa, thank you so much, that means everything to me! Lyney is my favorite character so I'd absolutely love to write more about him <3 I might have gotten a little carried away this time, too... and I didn't even go into the ways Lyney himself shows affection!
Fandom: Genshin Impact
Character: Lyney
Warnings: None
Receiving Affection - Lyney
One thing is for sure, my boy is 1000% a blushy mess. Lyney is the type of person who will flirt endlessly, but can't handle it when the affection is returned. He'll freeze up and you can just see the wheels in his mind grind to a halt as he struggles to comprehend what he's just heard. He starts stammering, trying desperately to respond with something equally smooth. And ohh, the blushing. The first time you flirt with him - or even just give him a sincere compliment - you'll notice a faint pink hue gracing his cheeks. But the longer it goes on, the deeper his blush will get, all the while he's trying valiantly to pretend he isn't phased in the slightest by your words.
It's so easy to fluster him. Like, almost too easy, especially early on in your relationship. Any little thing can get to him, from holding his hand to complimenting his magic, and he'll end up fighting the urge to grin like an idiot. Your very presence makes him so incredibly happy, and anything that makes him remember that you belong to him makes him want to scream and jump around in excitement. Even before you begin dating, giving him a certain smile or brushing against him is all it takes to have him blushing and forgetting his words.
It might seem a little out of character for a chronic sweet-talker like Lyney to be so easily reduced to a mess, but it isn't. Deep down, he never thought anyone would be attracted to him in such a way, so he's genuinely shocked by your attention. It makes him feel emotions he's never experienced, and it's far too easy for him to get overwhelmed. He's somewhat like a stereotypical teenage girl - he's a lovesick fool who overthinks everything and daydreams about you. He'll never shut up about you to anyone he speaks to, even when he thinks he's being subtle. He's not subtle in the slightest, just ask Lynette...
Lyney doesn't have a huge preference for how exactly you show affection - anything is more than fine with him. Sometimes he can be painfully oblivious, and you'll have to make your intentions clear to him, but most of the time he's quick to pick up on it. He's the type who will learn the ways that you show affection, so he's genuinely happy no matter what.
That said, the way he best feels affection is probably words of affirmation. He needs to hear how much he means to you, he needs to know he's doing things right and not screwing up. He responds very strongly to praise - he is a performer, after all! Make him feel loved, make him feel wanted and adored, and he'll melt every single time, your words echoing in his mind long after they've left your lips.
One of his favorite varieties of this, while not exactly words of affirmation, is definitely lively banter. Make dumb jokes, lightly tease him, things like that. He absolutely loves it when you get playful, and he always ends up grinning like a fool. If you can match his energy and feed off of one another, you'll both be laughing hysterically before long!
He's also incredibly weak for physical touch. I think Lyney is incredibly touchstarved. Sure, he's got Lynette by his side, but hugs from her are different. There's just something about your touches that makes him feel so incredibly loved, and he's addicted to the feeling. He's always seeking out those casual little touches, even if it's as simple as holding your hand or brushing up against you - he's the kind of person who always wants to be touching you in some way, so long as you're okay with it.
He's an absolute cuddle fiend, too. When you wrap your arms around him, it's almost like all of his stress and worries just melt away. If you share a bed, you'll often wake up to find him wrapped around your body like a koala, and you'll have to either wake him or pry his limbs off to move. His favorite position, however, is lying with his head on your chest. It lets him listen to your heartbeat, the world's most soothing sound, and if you'll play with his hair, ohh, he's in heaven. Even if he's wide awake and anxious when you lay with him like that, he'll be asleep within half an hour. He can't help it - he just feels so safe and loved in your arms.
And when you give him something?? He practically malfunctions. The mere thought of you spending time, effort, or Mora on him is just... unbelievable. Perhaps it's due to growing up the way he did, an orphaned child with absolutely nothing, or perhaps it's just who he is. He treasures everything he's given as a present, especially when the present comes from you. The first time you give him something truly special or handmade, he's utterly speechless and suddenly fighting back tears.
He loves spending quality time with you, too. He's just happy to be in your presence, no matter what you're doing. Parallel play works perfectly fine for him - you can both do your own things in a shared space. Taking walks together is definitely one of his favorite activities, and he genuinely just enjoys hanging out with you, no matter what the two of you are doing.
He can have a hard time accepting acts of service sometimes due to his stubborn determination to do everything himself. If you want to do something for his siblings, though, he'll be eternally grateful! Be patient with him. Soon, he'll start allowing you to help him, too, and eventually he'll even quietly ask for your assistance for small favors. He genuinely appreciates your help, truly, especially if you notice that he needs something and assist him with it.
Honestly anything you do with him makes him feel loved and appreciated, and he's never been happier than he is with you by his side. Give him lots of love and affection, he certainly needs it!
❥ Playful Praises ꕀ Freminet's edition .༘⋆
⟡ Featuring : Freminet x not-so-oblivious Reader !! ೀ Pronouns/Gender : they/them ;; non-binary !! ꕤ Requested ? : Nope !!
In the whimsical region of Fontaine, lived Freminet – a boy with an introverted personality and an overwhelming shyness. The shadows of his older siblings, Lyney and Lynette, who dazzled audiences with their magic performances, only made him feel a slight sense of inferiority within his own abilities.
One day, battling his timid nature, he found the courage to ask [Y/n] to join him at a new café in town. The prospect of tasting delectable desserts sparked his interest, but the fear of navigating social interactions alone kept him anchored. But as his eyes darted nervously between the bench where they sat and the sidewalk, unsure of how to navigate the social maze that lay before him. Understanding Freminet's struggle, they decided to approach with a gentle smile.
"Hey, Freminet. Need some help with something?" [Y/n] asked, their voice a soothing melody in the midst of Freminet's internal turmoil.
Freminet, blushing slightly, nodded hesitantly. "Uh, yeah. I want to go eat some deserts at the new café, but I'm not... good with people."
"That's fine Freminet!! Let's go together and enjoy the sweets!!" they rapidly said, leading the way while smiling out of joy "I'm quite hungry to be honest..."
Seated at a small, quiet corner table, Freminet nervously scanned the menu, his shyness evident in the way he fidgeted with the edges of it while he kept Pers close by his side. As they indulged in the sweetness, [Y/n], wearing their usual mask of obliviousness to romantic cues, casually remarked, "You know, Freminet, spending time with you is really nice. I don't feel bothered at all. It's really enjoyable". The sincere words had... quite the effect on Freminet who found himself blushing and fidgeting with his fork while he stammered a shy "Thank you" and looked down at his plate in embarassment.
Sensing Freminet's adorable reaction, they decided to unveil their well-hidden talent for teasing.
"You look really cute like this Fremi... I think I'll have to take you out more often" with that, they began to shower him with praises, highlighting his charming company and cute behavior.
Freminet's blush deepened not only at their teasing words but the unexpected nickname, but even with that, a shy smile tugged at the corners of his lips, while he enjoyed the praise getting even more nervous word by word...
"... hey..! s-stop already- ! you're making me feel... feverish with all that !!" he held Pers avobe his face, trying to cover up his embarassment "... let's just... eat the desserts... please..."
Unaware Adoration
Lyney, who was drawn to your presence, the way your eyes light up at his tricks, and the way you can't erase the huge smile on your face even after his performance has ended.
Lyney, who never realizes that he's inlove. Quite the contrary, considering that he's known as romantic, as stated by the ladies and gentlemen of Fontaine. Compliments and praises fall past his lips as he hands others a Rainbow Rose, a symbolism of passion and romantic encounters, and that cunning and handsome smile he always seems to give away, never failing to break the facade. Those actions of his are enough to swoon half the people of the Hydro land, yet when it comes to him being swooned, there was never an answer to the knock on his head telling him, "Hey, you're inlove!" Because he's busy and distracted listening to the songbird that plays a harmonic tune whenever he thinks, looks, and talks to you.
Lyney who's unaware that he's absolutely head over heels for you, yet his actions are proudly displaying them. It was obvious for the audience (said audience is Lynette), it was obvious that he's willing to make a fool of himself just for you by the way he shows it in his eyes that would glance at you the moment you enter his peripheral vision, the way he can't help but smile — a smile that's not what he displays on stage, but one with sincerity and adornment, the way he seems to be at lost for words every time you get close, the way he'd practice a new trick over and over again so that he'd never fumble it when showing it to you (Lynette is done, honestly), the way a mysterious rainbow rose appears at your doorstep each morning, the way he was willing to tore himself down and let his weakness be known by you, the way that the walls he built for years seemed to slowly crumble down as he welcomes you in his life with open arms, the way he isn't the "Magician Lyney", nor the "Fatui Lyney" when with you, he is simply "Just Lyney".
And when he realizes this, all hell breaks loose for the dear Magician.
𝐶𝛨𝛢𝑃𝑇𝛦𝑅 𝟎𝟐𝟐 — UPON QUOTES (1,9K WORDS) 𝑅𝐸𝐷 𝐿𝐼𝑁𝐸𝑆 — lyney x f!reader smau
𝑆𝑌𝑁𝑂𝑃𝑆𝐼𝑆 —
Second year of university should've been everything you thought of it - more studying with human interaction sprinkled throught... What it definitely wasn't supposed to be was an investigation saga where one of your friends goes missing out of nowhere
𝑃𝑅𝐸𝑉𝐼𝑂𝑈𝑆 — 𝑀𝐴𝑆𝑇𝐸𝑅𝐿𝐼𝑆𝑇 — 𝑁𝐸𝑋𝑇 𝐸𝑃𝐼𝑆𝑂𝐷𝐸
Once Furina and Neuvillette confirm they’ve made it to the cafe, [Y/N] heads out. Although she has asked them to be there as early as possible, she still feels like she's in a rush. If there’s one thing she cannot be… is to be late. Not to mention, her mind is racing with each step.
At this point, it’s debating whether she was more or less worried when visiting the orphanage. She wants to believe Chevreuse will be helpful. Angelique had been their first known missing person. She has taken her case specifically into her own hands…
She wants… no, she has to gather as much intel as possible.
The weather is lovely. Sunny and yet not too warm at the same time. These are perfect conditions for trying to learn further about the case of university students being kidnapped.
Soon enough she sees the building of the esteemed Café Lutece. The closer she gets there, the more details she sees — people walking their dogs, stray cats scaring off pigeons enjoying some crumbs… And two girls standing close to the entrance.
Oh how glad [Y/N] is that Chevreuse’s profile picture matches her appearance in real life.
“H-Hello…” She walks up to the girls, greeting them politely.
“Heyy, must be [Y/N]?” Chevreuse puts her hand out to shake the girl’s hand. “Glad to finally have a face to put to the messages.”
“That’s right.” She smiles slightly. “Nice to meet you.”
Her attention turns to Chevreuse’s companion. This must be the friend she had been talking about.
“This is Em, a dear wife of mine.”
Emilie rolls her eyes playfully in response, flicking Chevreuse on the arm. “A friend. I’m your dearest friend, Chevy.”
Her attention goes back to [Y/N], standing still and confused. “Pay her no mind, she just likes to joke in such ways. I'm Emilie, a biology major.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you as well, Emilie.”
“The pleasure is all mine." She retaliates with a smile.
“Damnnn, can’t believe you’d cheat on me like that… In public no less!”
“Oh, shush you!”
Is this how best friends act? Is this how she and Lynette used to act? Surely not…
“L-Let’s get inside, shall we?” She asks, trying to diffuse the situation.
The establishment is abnormally quiet at this time of day. Had it been the school year, business would most certainly be booming. [Y/N] can make out Furina and Neuvillette chatting happily at one of the tables. Lovely, at least this makes it easy to choose a table. They exchange a brief glance, reminding each other why they're here.
Well, thank heavens they kept true to their word. Although [Y/N] believes in the sincerity of Chevreuse and Emilie, there’s never too much being careful. The words said by Madame Knave still linger on in her mind.
“I don’t frequent cafes that often,” Emilie says, looking at the menu, before turning to the other girls. “Could anyone of you recommend something?”
“A latte or a cappuccino, I guess?” Chevreuse answers.
Emilie doesn’t choose either, staring at the choices with full attention.
“If you want something lighter,” [Y/N] starts. “A latte would be better — its milk texture is more delicate.”
“I see… Thank you, Miss [Y/N].”
With the blonde soon making up her mind, the girls finally put in their order and head to have a seat. They’re near one of the exits — Charlotte’s preferred spot, right next to a socket.
Their table is relatively close to the one where her chaperone is sitting… However, when they finally sit down, their awkwardness due to having this be their first meeting begins to show.
“Sooo…” Chevreuse starts, trying to break the ice. “Why are you interested in Angelique?”
The question shouldn’t surprise [Y/N] at all, and yet it does. She had rehearsed all the possibilities of this conversation multiple times. Should she answer truthfully or bend it a little?
“We’ve shared classes together.”
“Did you work on any projects together?” Emilie inquires further, clearly sceptical of this being the sole reason. “I don’t wish to sound unkind, however, it does feel unnatural for such sudden interest in another person.”
[Y/N] gulps in nerves. This shouldn’t be happening. She’s a journalist for fucks’ sake. She’s supposed to be in charge of the conversation to gather as much as possible.
“To be completely honest—“ Her voice gets reduced to whispers as she leans over the table. The staff of the cafe doesn't have to know.
The bell rings, as the doors next to [Y/N] swing open. Another customer has entered the building, shutting the journalism major completely out. Can’t be going around spewing such important news when somebody’s right next to you.
It seems like life is completely against [Y/N] at this exact moment. One of the waitresses is here to bring the girls their coffee.
“Your order is ready. Hope you enjoy!” She turns around noticing the new customer. “Oh! Good morning, professor. You’re later than usual!”
“Traffic, nothing else— Also.” The seemingly older male starts. “I’m no professor, just a mere assistant.”
[Y/N] shakes her head, getting her thoughts back to what they were gonna talk about.
“Dear me... sorry about that you two.” She tries to give a smile, struggling to get herself in order.
Her body feels weird. She hasn’t taken a sip of the drink yet, so there’s no way it would get spiked. Has Charlotte’s ‘bad-vibes’ radar been passed onto her?
“Don’t worry, take your time.” By the way, Emilie is speaking, she must understand something. In all seriousness, back in their texts, both girls mentioned topics serious enough to be said eye-to-eye.
“The thing… is quite complicated…”
“No wonder.” Chevreuse comments. “Something minuscule as wanting to ask about projects wouldn’t be as nerve-racking, would it?”
“Here’s your order sir, I hope you have a nice day.”
“Likewise.” The male replies as he leaves the building. With that, it seems the cafe has returned to its homey atmosphere.
“Okay.” [Y/N] sighs, before lowering her voice to a whisper again. “I’m pretty convinced Angelique has been kidnapped.”
Chevreuse and Emilie look at each other, confused.
“What do you mean?” A questioning tone replies.
“A friend of mine went missing around 3 weeks ago.”
“How does it have any connection to Angel, though?”
[Y/N]’s trekking through thin ice floes. She remembers every detail Charlotte managed to find about Angelique... and how it connects to Lynette's case.
“Angelique has been a writer for the Fontinalia Group, right?”
“Em, was she? I don’t remember.”
“That's right, she was.” Emilie’s shushed voice replies. “Didn’t talk much about her work there.”
“A friend of mine was invited to join in the middle of April… And there are two other girls with connections to the troupe also gone.”
The more Chevreuse and Emilie learn, the more concerned they get.
“Did you go to the police?”
“We did. The case has been moved to a different district. We haven’t heard a word ever since submitting it.”
“Chevreuse… do you think?” The blonde leans down to take something from her bag.
“Oh god, not fucking thatttt…” Chevreuse muffles back.
It takes Emilie quite a time to locate whatever she was looking for… and it seems to be… a stack of papers?
“What’s that about?” [Y/N] asks, noting the papers are in a ziplock bag.
“In the middle of the semester, this was slid under our dorm's door.”
“Can I look?”
“Be our guest… just be careful—“
As soon as [Y/N] opens the bag, the room gets filled with an overwhelming scent of a male’s perfume. Holy fuck, that’s quite intense.
“Oh god…” The girls all cough a bit from its sheer amount.
[Y/N] slowly unwraps the paper noting its great quality. Whoever was in charge of that most certainly knew their stuff.
“And she was mine, she was mine, the key was in my first, my fist was in my pocket…” She starts reading the letter out loud — her tone still shushed. “… she was mine.”
She gives a questioning look to the girls opposite her. Why would they feel like it’s related?
“When did this get delivered to you? It must've been after Angelique's case has been brought up.” She asks.
“Many people from the administrative office came to ask us about Angel in late April.” Chevreuse answers, her eyes on the letter. “Em, do you remember?”
“This letter arrived in early May. Surely you remember me looking into this scent. It’s just… mind-numbing.”
“Oh right… Yeah, that sure was a journey…”
“Emilie, have you found anything?”
The girl shakes her head. “I’ve come to the conclusion, that it’s a mixture of different colognes. Quite difficult to pinpoint something noteworthy, unfortunately.”
[Y/N] furrows her brow, the implications of the letter weighing heavily on her. The words she just read resonate with a chilling undercurrent. “What does it mean by ‘she was mine’? This sounds more like obsession than affection.” On the other hand, if she were to go by predictions of the perpetrator to be well informed in arts… it could be a quote from a book.
“I'm no poet, yet it most certainly reads as somebody being fixated on other’s being… rather than being affectionate to them.” Emilie’s expression is equally serious.
“Could also be somebody who considers affections as the same as fixation.” Chevreuse comments, sighing… But the look [Y/N] gives the girl… She has figured it out.
“Oh— Oh god…”
She stands abruptly, bumping into the table in the process. Nerves overtake her body. Her legs are jittering, giving out a little.
Chevreuse and Emilie are scattering out of their seats trying to help to keep her steady. Even though they haven’t known Angelique long, and they’ve known [Y/N] for even less… both of them can tell her emotions are real.
“Let’s get you to sit again.” Chevreuse leads her back onto the chair. “Have you figured out what the text means?”
“… Lolita. It’s a quote from the book.”
More time passes before Emilie and Chevreuse feel comfortable to leave [Y/N] on her own. She even rejects their gracious offer to drive her back to the dorms, since they’d be heading the same way.
The only thing she asks for is to exchange phone numbers. Even though they might not about Lynette’s situation still… having more people on your side makes it safer whenever something eventually goes wrong.
Furina and Neuvillette, despite observing the situation did not interfere at any point during their conversation… thus their job had been switched to notifying the rest of the group what has been going on… at least partially.
Soon after the girls say their byes, they also leave the shop. Their job has been completed, regardless if they were necessary there in the first place.
And [Y/N]? Well, she’s been keeping close to the small cafe, trying to contact the orphanage to share what she has learned… Whoever is behind Angelique’s, and by proxy Lynette’s kidnapping is either a sick person…
… Or directly related to them.
“Please, please just answer…” She says, looking at her phone deflated. She does not want to disturb anybody around her. Surely the caretaker of the House of Hearth wouldn’t be petty to leave her high and dry just because of a minor disagreement. Well, even if she did — [Y/N] does her utmost to convince her mind otherwise.
Soon, her call finally gets answered.
“Hello?” They say. That… Is most certainly not Madame Knave… This is…
“—Lyney?!”
The line cuts off instantly.
Freminet x Reader
Where you have a deep conversation looking at the sea
The wind blew gently over the shore, caressing your face as you walked along the sea. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks was the only music that accompanied your steps, and although the day was calm, you couldn't help but feel an emptiness in your heart. There was nothing really stopping you at that moment, everything seemed to be in its place, but something was missing.
You stopped for a moment, looking at the horizon, where the sky and the sea merged into a single blue hue. Seagulls flew in circles, and everything seemed to be calm, but your thoughts couldn't find that same serenity.
Suddenly, something caught your attention. A familiar figure peeked out from the shore, its silhouette fragile and determined at the same time.
Freminet.
He didn't see you at first, he was absorbed in his observation of the ocean, as if he were searching for something among the waves. It wasn't unusual to see him this way, deep in thought, always so calm but at the same time so full of an inexplicable strength.
You approached slowly, without making a sound, and watched him for a moment, feeling a mixture of admiration and concern for him. You knew he often took refuge in the sea when things troubled him, but you never knew exactly what was going through his mind. There was something in him that kept wondering if he could ever find peace.
Freminet, noticing your presence, slowly turned his head towards you, his gaze intense and calm. It wasn’t the typical empty expression of someone who felt distant; there was something else on his face, a kind of vulnerability that he didn’t usually show.
“Do you mind if I sit next to you?” you asked softly, knowing that if you didn’t offer him space, he might close himself off even more.
He smiled weakly, a small but sincere gesture. “No, of course not. It’s always nice to have company.”
You sat next to him, not saying anything for a while. The waves continued their course, and the sun began to set, dyeing the sky orange and pink tones. You didn't need words to feel connected to him; his presence said it all. However, as the silence lengthened, you decided to speak.
"Are you okay?" you asked, your voice barely a whisper, as if you didn't want to break the delicate moment.
Freminet looked ahead, not answering immediately. His breathing was calm, but you knew something was worrying him. After what seemed like an eternity, he spoke in a soft voice, but laden with restrained emotion.
"Sometimes, I feel like peace is something far away. Like it's not something I can reach…" he said, his eyes staring out to sea, as if the answers were there, hidden among the waters.
"Why do you say that?" you asked, feeling the weight of his words enveloping you. "You have everything you need here. You're not alone. You have Lyney, Father, Lynette... me...."
Fréminet sighed, and for a moment, he looked at you with an intensity you hadn't seen before.
"It's just that, try as I might, sometimes I can't stop thinking about the past. About everything I lost… and everything I'll never understand."
"But that doesn't define you, Freminet," you said softly, placing a hand on his. "What matters is what you choose to do with what you have now. And you… you are stronger than you think."
The boy was silent for a moment, processing your words. Then, without warning, he gently took your hand, his fingers cold but firm. The calmness in his gesture, the way he looked at you with gratitude, made you feel a connection deeper than any words could.
"Thank you…" he whispered, almost as if he was grateful not only for what you had said, but for your constant presence. "I don't know what I would do without you."
You were surprised by his sincerity, but what struck you the most was the vulnerability in his words. In that instant, you felt that perhaps not only the sea had the ability to heal him. Maybe, just maybe, the people around him could also make him feel that there was something in the world worthwhile. Something as simple as a touch of the hand, a sincere gesture.
The night slowly fell upon both of you, and although you did not exchange any more words, the silence between you was no longer awkward. Freminet leaned gently against you, and you, with a calm smile, put your arm around his shoulder, knowing that, even if he did not have all the answers, at least he was not alone.
The sun had already set, but the sky still shone with the last light of the day. At that moment, Freminet let out a sigh, a sigh of relief,
as if he had found a small island of calm in the middle of his internal storm.
✧Sticking to the Script✧-13
⋆。°✩ 13-boyfriend vs boy friend
You and Lyney were walking to school together for what felt like the first time in forever. Between studying, after school activities, and your "dates" with Xingqiu, the two of you didn't get to see each other as often.
Sure, you saw each other during rehearsal, but you were too preoccupied with Xingqiu to care anymore. You and Lyney were still on good terms, but you felt a tinge of guilt, because you were ditching your best friend for a relationship that wasn't even real. Even if you tried convincing yourself otherwise.
"Hey Lyney." You said, turning to your friend.
"Yes?"
"I missed this."
He gave you a questioning look. "You know, us hanging out together, it's been a while." You explained, you really did mean it.
"It has." He replied "But having you out of my hair wasn't the worst thing in the world." He quickly added, lightening the mood.
You playfully shoved him. "Archons, let me be sincere for once!"
He rolled his eyes. "Never was your forte."
You glared at him, he shoved you back. "I'm glad that you're happy though." He smiled as the two of you neared the school building.
"You deserve someone who really loves you."
You quirked a brow, confused. Sure, you and Xingqiu got along but you wouldn't call it love.
"Come on, don't give me that look, haven't you seen the way he looks at you? He's down bad." He stated as if it were the most obvious thing.
Your face flushed. You weren't sure what you felt for Xingqiu anymore. You liked him more as a friend, but you didn't know how strong your feelings were. So in usual fashion, you suppressed them (avoiding your problems is naturally the best way to solve them!).
But that was hard, despite not having any classes together, the blue-haired boy always found some way into your schedule.
Staying after school?
He just so happened to be tutoring at that exact same time!
Going to the washroom?
You run into him in the hallway!
Venti said that Xingqiu just wanted an excuse to see you more, Fischl claimed it was fate, and that the two of you were meant to be. Lynette said that Xingqiu was probably jealous of all the time Lyney got to spend with you, hence why he always found some way to see you.
Xingqiu being jealous of Lyney...?
You giggled, just realizing that your train of thought had occupied your entire mental capacity and you weren't listening to a word Lyney was saying.
"(Y/N)? I get that I'm hilarious but something tells me you aren't listening to me."
"Sorry, I just remembered something amusing." You muttered as you made your way to your lockers.
"Pray tell."
"Just something your sister said. She thinks Xingqiu jealous of you. Honestly, I think it's rather ridicu-"
Suddenly a force parted you and Lyney, and a familiar pair of arms wrapped themselves around your waist.
"Good morning darling~"
"Xingqiu?!"
Lyney gave you a look that said enough.
Ridiculous huh? Explain that
Xingqiu pressed a kiss to your neck, you didn't pull away, you enjoyed the affection more than you'd like to admit.
"Morning Xingqiu." You managed to say, even though you were sure your legs were about to give out then and there.
Why the fuck is he being so affectionate all of a sudden?!
You mentally screamed as Xingqiu rested his head on you shoulder, his arms still wrapped around your waist.
"Mornin'"
"Good morning to you too Lyney."
You could've sworn you detected a bit of possessiveness in Xingqiu's voice.
Your "boyfriend" placed one more kiss on your temple before pulling away from you. You already missed his touch.
"I'll see you tommorow yeah?"
You simply nodded as you watched him smile and leave for his first class. You looked back at Lyney who had a smirk on his face.
"Doesn't sound so ridiculous to me~"
"Shut up"
🎩 Lyney x fem!Reader headcanons Rainbow roses 🐈⬛
You and Lyney have known each other since you were kids. When he showed his first street performances, you would resort to him and always give him some mora and food for him and his sister. You were always kind to them and admired the tricks he showed. Lyney liked the way you admired his tricks. You were the first regular viewer, and that made your attention especially valuable for him. It was only when he got a little older that he realized that the reason why he liked to see your delight so much was that he fell in love with you
He carefully hid from you that he was connected with fatui, because he knew perfectly well how other people treat them. Sometimes you came across when he had no ideas. On such days, he always tried to please you, most often giving you a rainbow rose. The gift of a flower made you smile sincerely and the fact that you smiled pleased him. He would like to see your smile much more often, but also did not want to put you in danger, so Lyney tried to control the number of your meetings
You started seeing less of each other, but that didn't mean he forgot about you. Each of your meetings caused Lyney joy, which he hid behind a mischievous smile. He was used to wearing masks and only his sister saw what he really felt. Sometimes you spent time late at night. He helped you climb onto the roof of some building and you looked at the stars together. It was during one of these evenings that you told him that your family had decided to move out of town. This meant that you would be able to see each other even less often, but you hoped that he would not forget about you. Lyney didn't show that it really upset him, but before you left, you did something that made him freeze. You told him that you would try to grow a whole bed of rainbow roses next to your house, and when he has his first grand performance, you will make a huge bouquet of these flowers for him
Lyney has really achieved a lot since the day you left. However, Lynette knew that he missed you and looked out for you every time during his performances. When he was supposed to have a performance at Opera Epiclese, he was sure that he would finally see you there again. He had been preparing for this speech for a long time and was going to hold everything at the highest level, including your meeting. However, his performance did not go according to plan and turned from a magic show into a murder investigation
While the investigation was underway, no one could leave Opera Epiclese. Lyney felt that he had made a mistake. He hoped that everything would go well, but it was not so. He hoped that his innocence would be proven, because Furina clearly considered him guilty. However, the touch of his sister on his shoulder brought him out of his thoughts. He looked up at Linette, then looked in the same direction as her. What he saw made him freeze and a blush broke out on his cheeks. He saw you standing there with an awkward smile on your lips and a bouquet of rainbow roses. Lyney hurried to you, unable to restrain a wide smile. Although your long-awaited meeting was not what he imagined, but you were there again, which means that not everything was lost. You believed in his innocence and that was the main thing
「 may sparks fly 」
⤷ info: lyney x gn!reader || fluff!! also a lil bit of crack haha || wc: 1928
⤷ warnings: lyney has the dumb blonde syndrome where he is too blind to realize he is in love, he's also v jealous at some point, are there plot holes in this? possibly. do i care? a little but theres nothing i can do about it now. i may have rushed the ending a lil but its okay we can look past that right guys
⤷ extra: happy bday @thexianzhoujade !! you thought i was done? you thought wrong. (also a very big thank you to @ryuryuryuyurboat for the idea & @blue-b3rries for proofreading <33)
In the heart of the bustling Fontaine city, Lyney captivated the imaginations of children with his dazzling tricks. With a flourish of his hand and a mischievous twinkle in his eye, he effortlessly wove illusions that left his young audience in awe.
As he performed his routine with practiced precision, a figure caught his eye among the crowd. It was a person unlike any other, your gaze fixed intently on Lyney as if drawn by an invisible force. For a fleeting moment, your eyes met, and Lyney's heart skipped a beat.
Caught off guard by the unexpected connection, Lyney's fingers faltered, causing his trick to go awry. With a sheepish grin, he laughed off the mistake, chalking it up to a momentary lapse in concentration.
“Ah, it seems I've let a bit of my clumsiness sneak into the act today,” he playfully announced to the kids, who erupted into laughter. Lyney, ever the showman, continued with the performance, eager to prove that the mishap was nothing more than a fleeting mistake.
However, as the days went by, you continued to linger in the crowd. Every time Lyney attempted a trick, your gaze bore into him, causing an unexpected flutter in his chest. And, just as consistently, whenever your eyes locked, Lyney found himself stumbling over his magic, much to the delight of his young audience.
With each mistake, Lyney offered a lighthearted excuse, blaming fatigue, clumsiness, or even an imaginary mischievous fairy. The children loved the added humor, unaware of the secret dance unfolding between the magician and his silent observer.
Lynette had long since caught on to your presence. She observed with an amused smile as Lyney's perfectly orchestrated acts crumbled, one trick at a time.
One day, as Lyney once again fumbled with his magic, he turned to his sister, frustration clear in his voice. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, Lynette! I keep messing up the tricks, but when I do it alone everything goes perfect, the way it’s supposed to be! Something is wrong with my magic.”
With a sly grin, you approached the clearly frustrated magician, your eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. “I think your magic is working just fine, but I enjoy the added entertainment,” you teased, your tone playful yet filled with a hint of genuine warmth.
Lyney, caught off guard by the candid comment, felt a blush creeping up his cheeks.
Lynette, standing nearby, couldn't help but giggle at the exchange between her brother and the mysterious onlooker. She watched as Lyney attempted to regain his composure, his charming grin returning to his face.
“You've been enjoying the show, huh?” Lyney retorted with a playful wink. “Well, I suppose a magician's life can get a bit dull without a few surprises now and then.”
You chuckled, and this time, you spoke more sincerely. “Your tricks are amazing, Lyney. But it's not just about the magic; it's about the unexpected moments, the little imperfections that make it all the more charming.”
As the banter continued, Lynette couldn't help but notice the change in her brother's demeanor. Normally the master of illusion and charming repartee, Lyney seemed genuinely intrigued and a bit flustered by your presence. It was a delightful twist to the usual routine.
With the conversation flowing effortlessly, Lynette decided to play along. “You know,” she chimed in, “if you're enjoying the show so much, maybe you should join us for a cup of tea after the performance.”
The invitation hung in the air, and for a moment, time seemed to stop. Lyney, with a mix of curiosity and excitement, agreed to the suggestion. The children, having thoroughly enjoyed the unplanned entertainment, cheered as you made your way to a nearby café.
As you sat together, sipping tea and exchanging stories, the atmosphere was filled with laughter. Lyney found himself genuinely enjoying the company of his mysterious spectator, realizing that maybe, just maybe, the unexpected twists in life could lead to the most enchanting outcomes.
Days turned into weeks, and the friendship between Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, and yourself continued to blossom. All four of you hanging around together became a familiar sight in Fontaine, with Lyney performing tricks, Lynette observing with a watchful eye, Freminet occasionally chiming in with his innocent musings, and you, the silent observer who had become an integral part of their little circle.
One sunny afternoon, as Lyney strolled through the bustling streets with his siblings, he noticed you engaged in a lively conversation with a passerby. There was laughter, a genuine exchange of smiles, and something in Lyney's chest tightened. He couldn't quite comprehend the strange emotions bubbling within him, but the sight of you sharing laughter with someone else stirred an unfamiliar feeling. Lyney frowned, clenching his fist. Lynette and Freminet exchanged a glance, both perceptive to the shift in their brother's mood.
The trio decided to leave the area, but Lyney couldn't shake the lingering sensation of jealousy. It puzzled him, and he found himself contemplating the inexplicable emotions that had surfaced.
In the following days, whenever he spotted you, Lyney made a conscious effort to be more engaging and entertaining. He told jokes, performed tricks with extra flair, and made sure to elicit laughter from you. The motivation behind his actions was unclear even to him—actually, why was he even jealous to begin with?
One evening, as Lyney conjured a bouquet of flowers out of thin air, he caught your eye and delivered a charming wink. The act succeeded in making you laugh, but the underlying tension remained in Lyney's mind.
Each time he made you laugh, Lyney felt a fleeting sense of satisfaction, but it was always overshadowed by the persistent nagging of his own insecurities. Why did he feel this way? What was it about seeing you with someone else that stirred such strong emotions within him?
As Lyney continued to grapple with his conflicting emotions, Lynette and Freminet couldn't help but notice their brother's inner turmoil. They had seen this pattern before—the subtle signs of jealousy, the desperate need for validation—and they knew it was time to address it.
That evening, as they sat together in their cozy home, Lynette and Freminet gently broached the subject with Lyney. “Lyney,” Lynette began, her voice soft but firm, “you’ve been acting differently lately.”
Freminet nodded in agreement. “Yeah, it's like something’s bothering you,” he added, his brow furrowed in concern.
Lyney shifted uncomfortably, his gaze flickering between his siblings. “I don't know what you're talking about,” he said, attempting to deflect their observations.
But Lynette wouldn't be deterred. “Lyney, we're your siblings. We know you better than anyone else,” she said gently. “And it doesn’t take a lot to notice that something’s wrong.”
Lyney sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. “I don't understand it myself,” he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. “Why am I so bothered by seeing them with someone else? It's not like we're... anything.”
Lynette placed a comforting hand on her brother's shoulder. “Maybe it's because you care about them more than you realize,” she suggested gently. “Maybe you’re scared of losing them.”
Freminet nodded in agreement. “Yeah, and maybe you're trying so hard to make them laugh because you want to show them that you're just as fun and interesting as that other guy we saw.”
Lyney sat in silence for a moment, processing his siblings' words. Their insight cut through his confusion like a ray of light, illuminating the depths of his feelings in a way he hadn't considered before.
“I guess you’re right,” Lyney admitted quietly, his voice tinged with vulnerability. Freminet smiled, “Just be honest, Lyney. Let them know what you've been feeling.”
“Worst they can do is say no.”
“Lynette!”
As Lyney pondered his siblings' words, he realized that they were right. He couldn't continue to let his feelings remain bottled up inside him. It was time to take action, to finally express what he had been feeling all along.
With newfound determination, Lyney set out to find you, his heart racing with anticipation. He had rehearsed countless scenarios in his mind, each one more elaborate than the last, but now, faced with the reality of the moment, his confidence wavered.
Lynette and Freminet watched from a distance, their hearts filled with a mix of amusement and exasperation. They had seen Lyney struggle with his feelings for far too long, and it was time to put an end to it once and for all.
As Lyney approached you, his words caught in his throat, he couldn't help but stumble over his own thoughts. Just as he was about to speak, a gust of wind blew through, scattering his carefully prepared confession into the air.
Lyney's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he scrambled to collect his thoughts, but before he could utter a single word, a stray cat darted across his path, causing him to lose his balance and stumble forward.
You reached out to steady him, a concerned expression on your face. "Are you okay, Lyney?"
Lyney nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. This was it, his moment to finally confess his feelings. But before he could speak, the sound of a distant siren filled the air, drowning out his words.
Lynette and Freminet exchanged a knowing glance, realizing that their brother needed a little extra help. With a mischievous twinkle in their eyes, they sprang into action, orchestrating a series of events that would finally bring Lyney and you together.
As Lyney struggled to find the right words, his siblings discreetly arranged for a spontaneous fireworks display to light up the night sky. The dazzling colors reflected in your eyes as you turned to Lyney, a smile playing on your lips.
"Wow, this is amazing!" you exclaimed, your gaze meeting Lyney's. "Thank you for showing me this."
Lyney's heart swelled with emotion as he gazed into your eyes, the fireworks illuminating the depth of his feelings. "There's something I need to tell you," he began, his voice trembling with emotion.
But before he could continue, Lynette and Freminet emerged from the crowd, each wearing identical expressions on their faces. "Lyney, we couldn't help but notice that you've been trying to say something all night," Lynette said with a grin. "So we thought we'd lend a hand."
Freminet nodded eagerly, a bouquet of rainbow roses in his hand.
Lyney couldn't help but laugh at their antics, their support giving him the courage he needed to finally speak his truth. With a deep breath, he turned to you, his heart overflowing with love.
"I know this might seem sudden, but I realized that I can't keep these feelings hidden any longer," Lyney confessed, his voice filled with sincerity. "I care about you more than words can say, and I want to be with you, if you'll have me."
You gazed at Lyney, your heart soaring at his heartfelt confession. "Lyney, I..." you began, but before you could finish, a burst of fireworks lit up the sky, showering the scene in a cascade of colors.
Lyney took your hand in his, his eyes shining with love. "I don't need fireworks to tell me how I feel," he said softly. "But they do make for a pretty spectacular backdrop."
With laughter and tears of joy, you and Lyney embraced, knowing that this was just the beginning of a beautiful journey together. And as the fireworks continued to light up the night sky, Lynette and Freminet shared a satisfied smile, knowing that their matchmaking efforts had finally paid off.
Fic personally requested from a wonderful friend
Lee: Freminet
Ler: Lyney & Lynette
General plot is Lyney buys a kamera, Freminet doesn’t want to look silly in a photo, Lynette goes into make Freminet smile mode
@emiefluff This is for u🫶
————————————————————————-
“Guys, check this out!”
Lyney announced as he walked into his and Lynette’s shared bedroom at the House of the Hearth.
Ever since Freminet expressed interest in becoming a magician’s assistant, he and the twins would practice simple magic tricks with what free time they had. That’s what Freminet and Lynette were currently doing, before they had been interrupted.
Lyney took off his hat and held it out in front of Freminet.
“Reach inside!”
“Uh..okay.” Freminet gingerly reached into the hat, only to feel the usual velvety interior.
“I don’t feel anything.” He said, pulling his hand out in confusion.
“Huh, really?” Lyney said in mock confusion. Knowing Lyney for such a while, Freminet could tell by now that this was all part of the trick.
Lyney gave the hat a little shake before grinning and saying “Try again.”
Freminet did just that, and lo and behold, he actually felt something! It was cool and hard, metal? Whatever it was, he pulled it out.
“A kamera?”
“Yup! Isn’t it so cool?”
“Does Father know about this?” Lynette finally interjected.
“Yeah, I asked Father in advance before I bought it.” Lyney explained while taking the kamera Freminet passed to him. “She said that as long as we don’t use it during missions, and that there aren’t any house secrets evident. She worded it as ‘if anyone were to steal the camera or find the photos, they should not be able to know any more about the house than they already do.’ I think that’s fair, right?
Lynette relaxed a little bit hearing their Father’s approval, only to hear a click.
“Lyney! I wasn’t ready…” Lynette complained.
“Ehe, sorry. It’s just a nice image, you and Freminet hanging out. Hey, how about a smiling photo? Smile, guys!” The oldest said, holding up the camera again, this time giving his siblings time to prepare.
Lynette seemed to like this idea, so she gave the kamera a soft but warm smile. Freminet on the other hand, did not seem as keen on the idea as his older sister.
“Ready? Three, two, one!”
“W-wait-..”
Too late.
The kamera printed the photo after a few short seconds, portraying Lynette’s demure (haha) smile and Freminet in the middle of saying “wait”, but with no smile present.
“Hmm..it’s a nice photo of course, but Freminet isn’t smiling! Should we do a retake? I can wait longer this time!” Lyney offered.
“S-sorry…” Freminet said dejectedly.
“No, don’t be sorry! That one’s on me, I clicked too fast. Well try again! Ready?” Lyney said, this time holding up the camera and finally not rushing.
When Freminet still wasn’t smiling however, he lowered the camera with a concerned look on his face.
“Everything okay, bro?” He asked sincerely.
“Y-yeah, it’s just, I don’t know about smiling right now.”
Lyney grew a little more worried, and so was Lynette, but it wasn’t exactly obvious.
“Is something going on? Or maybe you’re just not in the mood to smile?”
“No! No, everything okay right now…nothings going on and I’m feeling okay. I just don’t want my stupid smile to be captured in a photo forever…”
This made Lyney and Lynette comically gasp in unison, although Lyney’s was naturally more dramatic.
“Freminet! How could you insult your own smile like that!”
“I-I..”
“You know smiling is nothing to be ashamed of right?”
“I know…”
“You just don’t want it on a picture..?” Lynette interjected again, figuring as much.
“Yeah…It’s not that I don’t want to smile, it’ll just be so embarrassing on a photo…” Freminet said, covering his face with his hands.
It’s a crying shame he couldn’t cover his ears though, as they begun to turn red. This did not go unnoticed by his sneaky older siblings.
The twins both looked at eachother, and then back at Freminet. They both understood that this was not a matter of real discomfort, but a matter of Freminet being flustered.
They exchanged a glance once again before Lyney held up the camera again and Lynette wrapped her arm around Freminet’s waist in a side hug.
“Hm?” Freminet voiced before jumping at the feeling of a ticklish pinch at his side. He also noticed the camera once again click at this moment.
“L-Lynette!”
“Did it come out good?” Lynette peered over the camera as the photo was printed out.
Lyney held the photo in front of him, allowing his sister to see. Lynette had a soft smile once again, and while Freninet’s expression was very different than last time, it was more of a surprised “😳😨😬” than the smile they were hoping for.
“Aw dangit…Well, it’s actually not bad. Not exactly our goal, but still adorable nonetheless.” Lyney smiled as he showed Freminet the picture of him mid-jolt.
“Guys! Thats so embarrassing!” Freminet whined, pulling his hat over his eyes to avoid any possible eye contact.
“Take two?”
“You got it bro.”
Before Freminet had the chance to process his current state (arms slightly raised to hold his hat down), Lynette had already begun squeezing at his sides again, causing poor Freminet to burst into giggles as another click was heard.
“Lynehehette!! This isn’t fair!”
“Ooh, Lynette, come see how they came out.” Lyney interrupted, paying no mind to his embarrassed brother.
Lynette peered over Lyney’s shoulder to see how the photos came out.
“This one is cute, Freminet’s face is all scrunched up.”
“G-guys!”
“Hmm…how about you take the photo this time, Lynette. I’ll show you how to get a consistent smile.” Lyney said, passing the Kamera to Lynette.
She had a mildly disappointed look on her face but took the Kamera anyway and pointed it in Lyney and Freminet’s direction.
“See what you should do is wrap your arm around him like this first,” Lyney started, wrapping his arm around his nervous brother’s torso.
“Lyneyehey!”
“Then you’ve got to use your other hand-“ He raised his free hand up into a claw. “-and just dig in!”
With that, Lyney dug his clawed hand into Freminet’s lower tummy, causing the younger boy to finally burst out in bright, less restrained laughter.
“AhahaHAHA-! LYNEhehehy!”
“Take it now Lynette!”
Lyney grinned wide and hugged his brother close, still tickling the shit out of him of course. Lynette aimed the Kamera and took a total of 3 pictures: first of Freminet in his current predicament, second with Freminet’s hand in Lyney’s face in an effort to push him away, and third with Lyney’s free hand now under his exposed underarm, with Freminet’s face being noticeably more scrunched up and his body curling up even more.
When he heard the clicks, Lyney stopped his tickle attack on Freminet and hopped up excitedly.
“Let’s see how they came out!”
After waiting a few seconds, the printed pictures filed out of the Kamera. Lynette got to look at them first, resulting in a smile on her face.
“Aww, look.”
She faced the pictures towards her brothers, Lyney cooing similarly at them while Freminet was still curled up catching his breath.
“Look how good they came out Freminet! I knew your smile would make the picture all the more better.” Lyney said earnestly, pulling his dear little brother in for a hug.
Lynette held the kamera up, facing it backwards so as to take a selfie.
“Let’s take one more of everyone like this.”
“You got it, Lynette. Everyone smile!”
Freminet internally sighed. He still really didn’t think too much of his smile but…if his siblings were that desperate to see it, surely it can’t be that bad right?
With that thought, as he gazed up at the Kamera Lynette kept raised. With Lyney’s arm around him and a warm feeling in his heart, he finally flashed the kamera his real, soft, genuine smile.
i call and you come through ☆
☆ feat. | lumine, zhongli, lyney, lynette, yelan and kunikuzushi ☆ summary | they help you when you're in trouble. ☆ a/n | a lumine for lumiconic. and a country skewer too. this is so not ok. i'm so sorry if lyney/lynette/anyone is ooc!
lumine |
lumine hadn't expected to see anyone at all, much less you. you were somewhat of a subject of interest to her; she wasn't quite sure what you did, and yet she hated you, or at least she told herself she did. she had headed out with the intent of soaking up the cool air before the morning came and the sun sweltered down again, but instead she'd run into you.
she's so focused on your face, at first--the frozen expression of terror as you scrabble uselessly at the drainpipe attached to your house, the way your lips look as you whisper, "back! get back, oh my archons! get back!"--that she doesn't realize what, exactly, you're sending back, and then she looks down. she has to blink a couple of times; are you really scared of cats?
you glance up at her as she makes her way closer, flashing her a pained smile. "thank archons you're here, lumine, seriously. i really can't manage all of these things by myself." her name in your voice sends a spark through her veins, but she ignores it and rolls her eyes at you. "huh, yn, i thought you were so brave? scared off by a couple of cats, are we?" she bends over to grab one around its waist. it mews plaintively at her as she strokes its head, and your eyes flicker to her hands and make their way to her lips. "i guess you aren't so much the brave knight that you let everyone believe you are?" she glances up at you, at the scarlet blush across your cheeks, and wants to drop the cats and give you a kiss.
"i'm just- i can handle everything else, but not cats," you protest, nudging one away with your foot. she bites her tongue. it's so cute. everything about you is endearing, but she can't say it. oh, archons, what a struggle this is. "can you really handle everything else, though?" she prods at you, nudging a rather insistent gray cat away with her boot.
you look at her with furrowed brows, stepping forward as the cats in your path clear away. "lumine, do you hate me?" you ask her, so sincerely, so nonchalantly, almost as if you don't care what her answer will be either way.
she starts, then stops. she looks at your cheekbone, your right eyebrow, your lips. she glances down at your hands, at her feet, anywhere but your eyes. "yes," she says to the ground.
"huh," you respond, squinting at her. she finally drags her gaze upwards, and your eyes sparkle with amusement. "because it doesn't seem like you do. in fact, it sort of seems like the opposite." and you walk down the pathway towards the gates of mondstadt with a newly acquired pep in your step, leaving her absolutely blindsided and spluttering.
kunikuzushi |
kuni goes explicitly out of his way to avoid bumping into you, so really, he doesn't know why he stops when he sees you almost in tears at a food stall. he hovers behind you for what seems like an eternity, debating tapping you on the shoulder and asking what's wrong. he studies the back of your head and your neck, the slump of your shoulders wonders if he's acting like a creep. the vendor behind the stall has his back to the both of you, busily prepping something that smells absolutely exquisite.
you step back a bit while he's lost in his thoughts and step on his foot--and jump about a foot in the air. "oh, archons!" you exclaim, turning around. "i'm so sorry, kuni. i didn't realize you were there."
his face feels absurdly hot under your direct gaze, and he stutters out something along the lines of oh, it's okay. archons, it's like he's stupid when you're standing in front of him. why did he stop? why didn't he just keep walking? now he's going to be late, and you're still smiling at him, looking insufferably beautiful despite crying your eyes out a moment earlier.
he realizes he'd looked down at your feet, almost instinctively, and slowly drags his gaze upwards to meet your eyes. your eyes, which are perfectly ordinary, perhaps, but they send something through his veins, and they're so arresting, maybe he could drown in them? could he? your eyes, which reflect the stars, but there aren't any, because it's the middle of the day? maybe he's hallucinating, he tells himself.
you smile at him, and he's prepared to do anything you ask him to--honestly, why is he still here? you seem fine, he could probably move on, he thinks, but before he can, the vendor places something down in front of you.
"160 mora," the man tells you, and your brows draw together anxiously as you rummage through your purse. you pull out a handful of coins that jingle against each other in the palm of your hand, and the whole while, kuni watches your face. he watches the way your shoulders tense and the cords on your neck stand out as you swallow, and the way you blink rapidly but a tear slips out anyway. your eyebrows stay scrunched, and he can't resist the urge to pull out his own coin purse and wordlessly set down 160 mora.
you whip your head around to look at him, protesting wildly, but he flashes you a pained smile and tries not to look at your eyes as he steps back. "consider it my treat," he tells you, forcing the words out from his throat, wondering why you have such an impossible hold on him.
as he walks away, he replays the entire exchange in his head and vows to never stop for you again.
yelan |
yelan regrets telling you that you can call her for help whenever, because now your cat's stuck in a tree and she's standing at the base, looking up at it, feeling immensely foolish. you're looking at her, though, and whenever you do that, her heart pounds so hard she's worried it'll leap out of her chest. she's seized by the undeniable urge to leap into the tree and fish your wretched cat out, if only you'll keep looking at her like that.
"please, yelan," you beg her, your face the epitome of pleading. she stares at you for a few seconds longer; in her mind, she's tracing your eyebrows and cheekbones and also your lips, oh archons, your lips. she can feel the heat rising to her cheeks and neck, and she's positive she's red, so she clears her throat and steps towards the tree.
she doesn't do romance, she doesn't do daydreaming about you, and she certainly should not be helping you wrangle your beast of a cat out of this tree, but unfortunately, here she is. you cheer her on as she turns a deeper shade of beet red, climbing up the tree in a way that she never had imagined she would ever do; climbing as though her life depends on it.
she finally reaches a branch that she can comfortably sit on, and realizes, to her horror, that she's out of breath. she leans over and rests her forehead against her knees and wills her breath to slow down so that she doesn't seem so desperately out of shape that you regret having asked her for help. when she looks down at you, you're staring back at her with an intensity in your eyes that makes her blush. "are you okay?" you call, voice threaded with concern. "do you want me to come up there?"
does she want you to come up here indeed. archons, she would kill for you up here. unfortunately, who knows what would happen if you came up here. so she shakes her head and continues upwards, craning her neck to impossible angles to search for your fool of a feline.
zhongli |
zhongli doesn't pine after strangers (albeit a stranger with whom he's gotten rather close over the past few months) and he certainly doesn't stop to help many others. but for some reason, he's spent the evening chasing your dog around your house because you had cornered him earlier when he had been on his ritual walk. your closeness, combined with your hand on his (why did you always feel the urge to touch people in some way or another when you were talking to them?) had dried up all of the words on his tongue, but you had looked at him expectantly and he had nodded. nodded. he doesn't even like dogs.
now, he sits on the ground and tries in vain to coax the dog over (mora, its name was; what a stupid name) but it's set on ignoring him. "come here," he tries. "here! come here!" and then he realizes he's switched to the baby voice you often use on mora and has to glance over his shoulder to make sure no one's watching.
he inhales and leans back against the couch he's sitting in front of, staring at the darkening sky outside and wondering what it is you're up to. perhaps a dinner? when you'd let him in earlier, you'd been all dressed up; hair pinned up and your face bright and glowy. you'd smelled like glazelilies, and he had sputtered out agreements while trying not to look you directly in the eyes. briefly, he wonders who you would go to dinner with--and then banishes the thought from his mind.
mora ambles over to him and settles in his lap, but for once, he finds he doesn't mind. he strokes the dog's head and sighs, finally feeling at ease. "oh, aren't you a little nugget of gold? oh, yes you are. yes you are. yes you are." he's so wrapped up in the dog that he doesn't hear the door open and you come in until you're standing directly in front of him, your shoes dangling from your hand. "enjoying ourselves, are we, zhongli?"
lyney |
lyney has taken a liking to you, as much as he tries to pretend it's just platonic. he follows you around, brushing off your complaints of lyney, please! i need to work! instead choosing to focus on the fact that him being around distracts you from your work. so when he stumbles upon you in tears on the ground, of course he sits down beside you.
you scrub your face with your fists, burying your head in your knees as lyney pats your back awkwardly, unsure of what to do. "yn...?" he finally asks. "are you... are you okay?"
"yeah," you squeeze out. "yeah, i'm fine." you blink up at the sky, trying to stop the pressure of tears from making their way out. "i had been working on these documents for a week, and i tripped over the bridge." you gesture weakly in the general direction of the bridge. "and now they're all... gone. down there. in the water."
he digs around in his pocket, searching desperately for a handkerchief. he had one yesterday, when he was practicing his magic tricks... where is it? where is anything when he needs it? blowing out a frustrated breath that rustles the hair on his forehead, he hands you some fake flowers. "do you want me to go get them?"
you laugh, the sound shaky and tear-filled. "thanks, lyney." you set the flowers by your feet and lean against him. "no, no, please don't. seriously, i don't want you--"
he leaps up, his cape flying out behind him. crossing one foot behind the other, he bows, tearing off his hat. a stray dove soars free, flapping erratically. "anything for you, ma cherie," he says, flashing you a wink. he trots off towards the bridge, his heels clacking against the pavement, heart racing.
you stare after him, unable to stop the laugh from bubbling up in your chest. you wipe your eyes and make your way down after him, calling his name. "no, yn!" he shouts valiantly, looking over his shoulder. "you sit down! and rest! i'll get them for you! i'll get--" and he trips over the bridge, splashing into the water below.
you lunge for the railing, scanning the bubbles worriedly. "lyney!" you yell, debating leaping in after him. "lyney, can you hear me? lyney, if you can hear me, come back! lyney, come back!"
he pops up with a sputter, his hat sodden and filled with--are those your documents? his hair sticks to your forehead, giving him a look akin to a rat, but he flashes you a smile so brilliant it sends your heart galloping again. "for you, ma cherie! for you!"
lynette |
lynette ignores all of your attempts to woo her, despite the fact that they get her heart fluttering. you bring her romaritime flowers every tuesday, garlic baguette on thursdays. she thanks you cordially for these gifts, and then spends an hour writing thank-you letters that she never sends.
lynette tries to avoid you, even adding five minutes to her journeys across the city when she sees you. not because she hates you, but because simply being around you sends her into hysterics. (in her head.) she's flustered, she's red, and you're standing in front of her right now, offering a handful of berries. why, oh why, oh why hadn't she just cut behind the houses? now she's cornered, trying hard not to lose her composure. she closes her eyes and opens them, and you're still there, smiling at her, holding those berries.
"thanks," she mutters, reaching for them. you yank them out of reach and tsk. "you can't have them until you help me with this one thing! just this one, i promise."
she crosses her arms firmly over her chest, because oh my archons, your smile has her fully disarmed. "what is it?"
you clap, beaming. "i knew you'd say yes! i knew it!"
she interrupts you. "no, no, i haven't said yes yet. just tell me what it is."
"okay, okay! okay, you need to help me put up these posters." from seemingly nowhere, you wrench out a stack of crisp thick sheets--all with "REWARD: 5000 MORA. LOST CAT!" printed on them in big, alarming letters. she takes one, her brow furrowing.
"is your cat... lost?" she asks, glancing up at you.
you nod, sighing. "he's been gone since this morning. he's not an outdoor cat, you see. he's just so clingy, and it's not like him to be like this...." you trail off, clearing your throat. "you don't have to help me look for him, but could you please help me put up these posters?"
lynette shifts from foot to foot. she's got loads of work to do with lyney, but also... you're looking at her so plaintively, concern written so clearly in your eyes, that, she feels, to say no would be similar to murdering an animal. a baby animal.
"fine," she huffs, and you grab her hand. "thank you, lynette! thank you, thank you. i'll make it worthwhile, i promise!"
you let go and spin around, heading down the path, but she's frozen, her hand ice-cold and red-hot all at once. "lynette," you call over your shoulder. "are you coming?"
she shakes her head, trying to clear her feelings like cobwebs, and dashes after you.
four hours later, the sun's setting and everything is bathed in a golden glow, almost as though you're a statue. you're spent; exhaustion pools in dark circles under your normally-alight eyes. her legs ache and her fingers hurt from plastering posters on walls. "oh, my poor baguette," you complain, sitting down against a tree.
she can't stifle a chuckle. "you named your cat baguette?"
you look at her indignantly. "she's very long and very brown. it seemed fitting!"
this strikes lynette as the funniest thing she's ever heard, and she laughs until tears run down her face. her ribs ache and her stomach aches, but it's worth it for the look of bemused adoration on your face.
something brushes against her leg and she jumps, shrieking. your grin stretches ear-to-ear, literally, and you dive for the barrel she's sitting on. "baguette!" you yelp, cradling the cat in your arms. "oh, my gosh, baguette!"
the sun vanishes behind the clouds, and they glow from the inside. almost like you, she thinks. it's a picture-perfect scene, an indignant baguette pinned between you and her, one of your arms wrapped around her shoulders as you kiss her cheek. she never wants to leave.
