Fox tags along on a smuggling bust one (1) time and subsequently wishes he’d never been decanted.

Well, he’s arrested the perp a lot more than just one time, actually, but that very first tackle into a chokehold and electrocuffs more than sufficed to turn the fates against him - the fates, and Cody, the insufferable twat. They’re not actually even batchmates, the lot of them, and going by numbers Fox was decanted long before them (long as in seconds or minutes, no one actually knows), but Seventeen put them all in a training room together and then stupid kriffing Kote looked him up and down, nodded, and hasn’t stopped calling him vod’ika since.

“Why is one of the Republic’s most wanted criminals asking to speak to you, vod’ika?”, Cody asks, without any preamble, almost making Fox cut the holocall on principle. He would, if General Kenobi wasn’t right there next to the little shit. “And why do I not like his tone?”

Fox has to resist the urge to close his eyes and scream, making do with a deep sigh instead. Force curse the day Cody decided to adopt-nap him, and Wolffe following suit immediately. “Weequay, shifty eyes, stupid fucking pirate bandana?”

Cody’s eyes narrow suspiciously, and Kenobi’s eyebrows raise simultaneously. It’s more than a little creepy.

Fox rolls his eyes so hard he sees stars. “Tell him he can go space himself, unless he wants me to do it for him. And then tell him that if he sends me fuzzy fucking socks again I might just hunt him down and do it anyways.”

Past the slide of the door, Thorn’s unmistakable cackle reaches Fox. And Cody, going by the narrowing of his eyes. “Don’t tell him that, ori’vod, he’s probably into that”, Thorn calls out, gleefully, and Force Fox really should’ve kept this to himself in the first place.

He would’ve, actually, but the constant stream of strange presents into Guard headquarters is hard to miss. It was Alderaanian chocolates, last week, which Fox pawned off on the Shinies. A box from a store with a blacked out label before that, which he launched out the window with burning ears before Thire could get a closer look at it.

“Actually”, Thorn continues, happily, “I don’t think it matters much if you do tell him anything - it’s not like the Commander has been the most graceful courtée, and that hasn’t done anything to discourage our favorite smuggler.”

“Marshall Commander”, Fox hisses, because he’s a pissy bitch, and then, because all professionalism has gone out the window anyways, “This is why Stone is my favourite.”

Thorn’s wounded gasp is lost over Kenobi’s thoughtful hum, and Cody’s patented I’m-going-to-do-something-incredibly-stupid-and-you-can’t-stop-me glare. “That would explain why we have Hondo Ohnaka accosting our troopers about your flavour preferences concerning fruit candies. But the one asking to speak to you is Cad Bane, Marshall Commander.”

The string of curses Fox lets out at that is loud enough to have Mauler stick his head in the com room to ask if everything is alright, and Thorn roll on the floor with howling laughter.

Force curse the day he ever slapped electrocuffs on Hondo Ohnaka, and double-curse the one he threw Cad Bane to the floor with a scissor leg takedown.

@hallowleylines sent: Honestly "Sparkleson" (he rolled with it) hadn't seen himself honestly following through with this plan at the end of the day. Yet the city like was one that seemed tantalizing in moderation without any restrictions or expectations of knighthood this time around. They're nowhere near Kazimierz mind but it doesn't lessen the effect. Walking around with Malkuth didn't inhibit the mood either, or rather enhanced it.

He only had a handful of plans he wasn't inclined to share, but in return allowed her a much broader range. There wasn't any nagging or complaining from him whenever she runs off or do some off the cuff shenanigans. Rather he seems to be an active participant in it for once. Not 'watching' from the sidelines, he's front and center to behold the epitome of her silliness, or inevitably being roped into it. It's an unfortunate circumstance this leads to several hits to the wallet whenever she falls into any Valentine's pitfall he has to pick the tab on. Not that he's anywhere near poor, but this definitely not how he foresaw "high maintenance" being. That's just a bit gullible.

He's fine with just about anything today. Shopping? Sure. Dance clubs? Not his strong suit but why not (limiting the her alcoholic consumption after last time). Karaoke?…….That takes a little bit more of prying but he'll eventually budge on it. Very reluctantly agree on that. Other than that he's fine with simply immersing himself with his surroundings. All in but one thing.

Avoiding any 'couples' things would be great in his book, but sensory overload? Being blind makes this nearly impossible and hearing almost off the table. No, he likes to act cool but even he's embarrassed by the amount of times they caught him. "She's just a friend" is a catchphrase mumbled throughout the night for certain. Matching scarves, weird candied apples (he makes an amusing faces trying to get the caramel out his teeth). Even purchasing photos because he hadn't realized they were having their photos taken (that's a lie, he's fucking last-second posing). Shame he'll never see the outcome. But! To the horse they go!

Still, whenever he hears a lull in her schedule ideas he picks up the slack. More like he accounted for the fact surprisingly and it's time for his pit stops in-between. One that seemed boring at first, just a convenient store. He's subtle to guide her to the cooler and that's were the fun starts happening. How the it stretches a lot farther than it should. How in the corner seems to be an open passage to slip through and… it transforms into a funhouse? Secret passages? Mirror mazes? Slides? Story-lines? Talking robots? It's all a trip, but definitely something he feels could keep her busy for at least an hour. Don't mind how Everitt actually gets lost (or rather separated) a handful of times himself talking to the AI. They're cool, okay!?

Once that's said and done, and she's worked up an appetite? To a hibachi style grill they go. He's a fan of the cooking and the chef's are always somewhat amusing with their attitudes and flashiness. It's not something they had back home and well, Malkuth hardly ate actual meals to begin with. It was a slower pace (finally), and so he begins speaking freely and of his own volition. The listening and telling of stories all in a light-hearted nature. Of his Knight's club, Achilles and her friends, the hamlet he grew up in, and his own misadventures with his chattel across the world. It's… different, seeing him speak smile fondly without it being at someone else's expense.

The night winds down, or rather he does as they stroll further. He enjoys this, but he only has so much energy to high-string adventures. 2 a.m it seems. Out way past what he expected so… well he'll turn in. A 9 hour adventure was long enough for him. A journey to his place of rest, so she knows where to go once she's done Of course he'll let her know what floor and room of the hotel he'll be at before placing a separate key into her hands. Number neighbors so it should be easy enough. There's a stare before anything else… then he reaches out and just ruffles her hair a bit before gently bumping foreheads. No words exchanged, just holding it for a few seconds. After that? He simply heads in with the bags of acquired knick-knacks they both had collected. No need to force her to carry it all around town. He'll leave his room door open, just in case she wants to talk. He'll be up for a bit longer reminiscing on how tonight was… fun. It's been awhile since he could describe any day like that.

One would only be able to wonder how Current felt during the evening. It's a given they wouldn't give straight answers. And the Malkuth's would be a catalyst for further confusion. She had a way of taking the timeline in a stride that felt like it skirted carelessly between platonic and possibly affectionate? Then again, the Couatl was largely blind so any confusion brought on by her mannerisms would be missed. That's a good thing, right? Malkuth surely didn't seem bothered at any point. This was all fun and excitement for her!

The best part, if anything, was that it had happened at all. Current could be so grumpy and dismissive she had been largely convinced the idea to go out together was a joke meant to be rid of her but! She was ready! So was he! And the city? Wide open and ready to be conquered by the two peculiar operators. She dressed fun for the occasion but erred on the side of casual. A bag with her things shouldered over an open knit top that let some of the colored tank top she wore underneath peek through. It paired nicely with the slack pants with bellbottom legs.

And yes, Current can't see this, but he could smell the bit of tangerine perfume she wore, right? Also that top feels nice to the touch.

The best descriptor for the evening would be spur of the moment. Though she had made plans it was better described (and executed) as a route through the part of time that so welcomed travelers, tourists, enthusiasts and oh yes- couples. There was a lot more to see than the Kuranta expected in the end, and in her own throes of enthusiasm got side tracked from many of the spotlights she'd expected to steal.

It works out though, and eventually the internal question of is Current gonna go along with this fades away into where can we go next? It's a subconscious shift as the two embrace the newly forged mood and battleplan. And battle does seem to work out, doesn't it? Whether it was a bout of Karaoke or who could finish a ... bizarre drink of alcohol first. The answer is Malkuth. For the alcohol. Current came on top without much issue with karaoke but if it had been scored on enthusiasm and the most laughing then well maybe we could have given Malkuth an award too.

It's no wonder they get confused as a couple. For all their differences they moved and carried themselves in relatively close quarters with a natural movement that invited the assumption. Current explains the correction, but each instance got an amused laugh out of Malkuth as well. Sometimes with a cheeky glance over at the Couatl (again! he couldn't see! her smiles!) but she was never bothered.

How could she be bothered? How could any of this be negative? Even when some of the stores were closed or missed an item in the right size that she wanted to pick up it was never enough to cast any douse on her enthusiasm. A fire burned in this girl and just living life outside and free seemed to add more and more kindling to it. Could she be stopped? Well yes. Inevitably. Even someone like her only has so much energy. She was able to hide the fatigue on her expression but her voice and sighs betrayed a lot of it.

"Yeah! I'm done too! ...it's okay, anyone would be tired this late! I mean it's like... so far after midnight. The only places open now are bars and you said I couldn't have anything else to drink." For some reason he seemed inclined to keep her from drinking too much. Perhaps so she'd have enough sobriety to pull her through the route? She sure wouldn't have made it out of that secret hidden super cool maze if she hadn't had some faculties about her.

"Mm? Uh-" Her hair is ruffled, ears twitching at the sudden show of affection. It's not bad, but where was this coming from suddenly? And as if that wasn't enough, in what she could only see as bizarre coming from the other Operator, their heads touch. Huh? Huh?!?! What- what was he-- "Um." She doesn't move or resist, of course, but she is for perhaps the first time that night rendered silly stupid. There's a tinge of blush to her cheeks too. "Current?"

Largely unsurprising Malkuth doesn't get an answer for her confusion, the other's casual demeanor defusing any awkwardness (or perhaps she just let it go?) as seeing things. Rather than try and decipher the situation she was, for better or worse, just as happy to let it pass for the sake of closing things up for the night. Room numbers and keys. An insistence that he carry up their bags (though she held onto the one she brought) and then it was over.

Or was it?

Malkuth had settled in quickly. A pair of night clothes that had been brought with her for the overnight stay slipped on after a proper shower. The sheets of the bed call to her. They're nicer than the beds back at Rhodes Island to be sure. So big too. She wobbles back and forth in thought, warm gaze free of inebriation shifting between there and her bag. Before long she makes up her mind, and peeks in.

"Current, hey! Are you awake...? You left the door open and the lights on-" Her voice is a heightened whisper. Dummy. But then maybe him doing this was intentional. The fact he invites her in a relief and confirmation. She's quick to enter with all the invasiveness you might expect. "Okay good! I wanted to make sure to give you this before I forgot!" A box is held out and placed into his hand. Or on his lap if he wasn't quick enough to reach. She sits back, cobbled energy manifesting as a smug grin as she stands back with arms folded.

"I made. Chocolate. For you! Actually I made some for a buncha people but this one is different. Uh. It's good, though. I made sure to follow a recipe. I had someone test it for me too." The question though was who... there were many other operators on RI that were just as apt to be horrifying with their tastes or brush away oddities.

Not to mention... who the chocolate was going to.

"Thanks. For coming along with me today. I hope you had as much fun as I did, and hopefully we can do it again before too long. Anyway~ that's all I had to say. So I think I'll get back to my room and get to bed now." She waves, thinks, then reaches out to pat them on the shoulder.

the first person who realizes katsuki is trying to confess to you is his mom because he hasn't left the kitchen since he'd banished everyone from coming in as soon as the sun peeked through the curtains.

the older woman had no idea what the sounds of pots and pans clanging, mixed with not-so-quiet cursing meant, at first. but she figured it out quickly, call it mother's intuition, or the fact that she checked her calendar and realized tomorrow was white day.

mitsuki knew her son was going to confess to you when he came back from school with a cutely wrapped box of chocolates. her katsuki was still rowdy—if not rowdier and even less approachable than he was as a chubby cheeked little boy, so she guessed by the blush and barely suppressed smile on his face that—

"ouuu, got yourself some chocolates ? aren't you a heartthrob.." she teased "who'd you get those from ?"

katsuki scoffed at his mothers teasing. he rolled his eyes, but they wouldn't—or rather couldn't stray far away from the wrapped sweet treats. he runs his thumb over the ribbon tied in front.

"..yn gave 'em to me." he huffs proudly.

as she guessed, they came from you. of course.

katsuki is still—if not even more protective over everything that involves you, practically growling at his mom's not so sneaky attempts at trying to sneak a chocolate when he had opened the box "yn made 'em for me, so no touchin'." he snarled, stomping over to his room and ignoring his mom's knowing smirk when he made his way up the stairs.

this memory brings her back to now when she suddenly hears..nothing. absolute silence in contrast to all the ruckus from only a few seconds ago. and then the door creaks open just a bit and mitsuki sees her son's head peek out from the corner. she looks up from her magazine to raise a brow in question and the blond boy glares, jolting his head to the side in a silent plea for her to come over.

she saunters to the door, knowing smirk growing wider the more her son's grumpy face comes into view. she gets a peek of her kitchen through the small crack her son allowed her to see. she had to admit, though rowdy, katsuki was anything but messy. even though the dishes piled up, she knew he'd clean them up soon enough. she looks down at him and he avoids eye contact.

"can i come into my kitchen now ?" she smirks. katsuki scoffs at his feet. he grumbles something unintelligible before side stepping and telling her to 'just come in already.'

the woman is greeted with a batch of freshly made chocolates, which she assumes are one's you like if she knew how enamoured her katsuki was with you.

"ouu, who are these for, hm ?" she teased, but if he knew her son well enough she knew that these—

"sh-shut up !" katsuki snapped, cheeks turning red and eyes drifting around the room "you know who.." he challenges. mitsuki smirks wider, crossing her arms.

as she guessed, they're for you.

"okay.." she humors him, shifting her weight to her other leg " and what do you need me to do here ?"

katsuki inhales shortly to himself. he picks up one of the chocolates, not from your tray because those were for you and no one else, but from another tray she hadn't noticed of sloppier batches.

"try this." is all he says. handing her a little piece of deformed chocolate and she plops it into her mouth. she takes the time to let the sweet treat melt on her tongue before letting out a pleased hum. katsuki straightens up and his eyes shine and brighten the slightest bit.

"mhm, these are good." she acknowledged "but why don't i get one of the pretty ones ?" she teases. her katsuki all but scoffs in her face, simply stating that "these are for yn, not you."

and mitsuki realizes. he must've been working for hours trying to make these chocolates perfect for you, she guessed. her heart warms and her eyes soften at her son's adoration for you.

"but the one you gave me is good too, why can't you just give her one of those ?" at that, katsuki shoots her an incredulous look, like she had just told him something utterly unimaginable.

"i can't go around givin' her shitty chocolates ! 'specially not if i.." he trails off suddenly, grumbling with balled fists. he wipes at his cheek to try and wipe off his embarrassment. mitsuki feels her smile practically reach her ears. she's too good at this.

"if you what ?" she sings, leaning towards her son. he grumbles.

"if i—stop looking at me like that ! s'creepy so knock it off !" the blond snapped, face and ears a bright shade of pink and mitsuki can't help but bark out a loud laugh at her son's flustered state, her laugh drowns out the low growl he makes. she decides to spare him after a good giggle.

"okay, okay. i get it." she reassures. because she does, of course she does. but she sees something is wrong with the way her son seems satisfied for only a second before he's chewing at his lower lip and the way he wipes his hands against his pants. she knows her katsuki is extremely hard to handle. he could be quite the brat, but also extremely stubborn (she thinks she might know where he got that from.) so asking him simply what was wrong was out of the question. so she decides to coax him into it.

"you gonna give them to her tomorrow ?" he nods, hiding his eyes with his bangs.

"they're good. so i'm gonna give 'em to her tomorrow." her son nods at his mumbled pep talk, but the tension between his brows doesn't let up and after a moment, he sighs grumpily.

"what if i, like, fuck it up..?" mitsuki's eyes soften at her son's insecurities showing despite himself.

"how would you do that ? all you gotta do is hand them over." she asks softly. katsuki huffs.

"it's not that simple," he retorts "what if i make it weird ? what if i make things between us weird an' she doesn't wanna be with me anymore..." the sad tone of voice and the angry little puppy dog eyes make mitsuki melt, despite growing up a lot. despite being quippy and rowdy and a major brat, her katsuki will always be her little boy tugging at the bag of sweet ring pops he'd begged her to buy at the grocery store. her little boy who smiled a bright determined smile as the bag crinkled in his hand following his proud stomps to the car back home, ready for tomorrow.

a surprised throaty noise escapes katsuki when his mom places a hand in his hair, running her fingers through it. he makes a displeased noise, again, but doesn't try to stop her. mitsuki does realize her son is trying to confess to you with these chocolates, but she's a woman too and she knows you, she's known you since you were small and she knows how much you care about her son. she knows from the way katsuki kept the chocolates to himself, the barely supressed giddiness in all of his actions and the way he took his time enjoying every bite she knows and realizes that these chocolates were most definitely just for him.

and she guessed maybe you were trying to tell him something too.

she knew her katsuki had absolutely nothing to worry about, because you carried you empty ring pop container around with you in your bag and proudly explained it was 'your husband katsu' that gave it to you with a giggle. because you'd kiss his cheek without worrying about the ooh's and the kissy noises, only her son's cherry red cheeks but proud smile. because you'd giggle and laugh when he still called you his wife well into elementary school, and because you still smile so wide at the mention of his little ring pop proposal. and so, she smiled. startling katsuki by rubbing his hair fast like an almost noogie. he growls at the sudden shift, gripping his mother's arm and pulling away with a scowl, rubbing and trying to fix his hair. "the hell are you doin', hag ?!" her son seethed, and all she can do is smile.

"you got nothin' to worry about, katsuki." she says sincerely, the boy's arms drop and altough his barely there pout remains he tries to act tough, raising a brow at her "how do you know that ?"

"call it mother's intuition." her smile widens at his scoff and rolled eyes, he's better at it now and she laughs. " why do you wanna give these to her ?" she urges. he thinks for a moment, before his cheeks burn red again but his eyes go soft and warm and so much more enamoured with you than he was all those years ago in the car.

"cus..i like her.." he confesses "an' i don't want anybody else to do it before me." he finishes bitterly.

he's always been protective of you. any other boy you were paired up with or sat next to when the class seating order changed was considered public enemy number one for a while. of course, you had him on a leash, always being able to soothe him by saying that he was your number one best friend. and that was more than enough for him to throw smart glares and snarky smirks, grabbing your hand and dragging you off somewhere to show you something cool. something he knew you'd find cool because he prided himself in knowing exactly what you liked more than the other boys. your favorite ice cream, flowers, and chocolate flavor.

and mitsuki smiles. "right, you like her. so you can't let that scare you off, can you ?" mitsuki feels her heart soaring with pride, albeit with a little amusement when her son scoffs in response "course not. i ain't scared of shit." he states, she decides to ignore the irony of his statement for now.

"of course," she nods "and just between us, i think she likes you, too. i dunno how she does but.." katsuki's eyes widen like she'd just told him something ridiculous, completely ignoring her jab at him. she has to hold back a harsh laugh at how oblivious her son could be.

"that's just my guess though !" she shrugs nonchalantly "but there's only one way to find out if i'm right.."

after a beat, katsuki nods to himself with a grunt, grabbing the tray of chocolates and putting it in the fridge, ready for tomorrow, and wordlessly rolling up his sleeves and starting the dishes, as mitsuki guessed, and she smiles. she pets her son's head again briefly, ignoring his dissaproving grumbles, before giving him a pat on the back and wishing him good luck.

the next day, katsuki walks over to her, sat on the couch, immediately after coming back from school, with a proud smirk and gleaming red cheeks. and mitsuki knew she had nothing to worry about as she grins back.

in response, you merely sigh. but there wasn’t any bark to it. “or, you could clean up the shattered pot on the floor.” you say, making sure to bring your tone to a more gentle and reassuring one.

[ni-ki] he would be spam calling you and if you didnt pick up, he would be a giant crybaby. he doesnt want to lose you. so when you entered into the house and see him crying, you would ask him what happened and he would be mad at you and walk away, sniffling in his room. he would sulk at you. you would try to cheer him up and apologise for being late but he wouldnt accept it. he didnt want anything to happen to you. you would have to wait for him to accept your apology for atleast 3-5 days. you felt bad. finally when he accepted your apology, you would jump onto him and hug him so tight. you didnt want to be apart from him. you wouldnt know what you would to without him.
