Funnest part of reinterpreting these YHS designs is that it takes me down memory lane. I think it's like, one of the only projects where it pushes me to ask "Have I seen this YHS character before in my real life? Have I acted like them before? Have I ever liked something that they liked?". It pushes me to introduce them to my friends that don't know YHS while saying things like "Imagine [inserts specific trait in people] when you think of [inserts random YHS character]. That means that I push others to reflect what they've seen in THEIR life. Because to me, these characters are just regular people that we know in our own personal lives. A bit off-topic, but thinking through all of this really helps me see where I fit in time and everything; I had to dig through a lot of 2000s to early-mid 2010s media to get myself in the mood. And like, when I come to think of it, I grew up on the internet when 90s people where approximately in their 20s. They liked the 2000-2010s things that I liked at a young age the same way I like things now that are from the 2020s. They'll reminisce about their past the same way I'll reminisce my past, aka the same subjects that they liked when in high school or in their 20s. I grew up with these people, in that specific time frame of the internet.

This also reminds me how different the internet was back then compared to now. I think it's because back then, Youtube was still in this transition between posting on the internet for the funsies to earning money from it. So the internet back then was more like, a reflection to mainstream media, compared to now, where mainstream media IS the internet.
